So, after a year and a half of owning the symbol, I decided to write a review about it. I will describe the cars in comparison with the previous Logan, as many probably wondered: which is better to take - Logan or Symbol?

As I said in a previous review, the reason for changing the car is Logan's suspension fatigue (either shock absorbers, or springs, I don't know), winter and summer tires worn out for 100 thousand, the impending need to replace belts and rollers. In addition, to be honest, the hunt was to replace the car with something else.

I was not actively looking for another car, and Simbol turned up by accident. It was certainly not a task to buy Renault, but a small mileage was a prerequisite. The car was produced in 2006, purchased in May 2007, at the time of purchase by me (December 2010) the mileage was 12 thousand km. It was a colleague's car. There was no winter rubber, since it was not used in winter. This is a witness himself, since he constantly saw a car in the winter in a corporate garage, covered with a thick layer of dust (he stood there almost all year round). Confirmation of the reality of the run - the TO-1 coupon, which was produced by the owner exactly one year later, with a run of ... 1,500 km :) We did not do any other maintenance on the car.

The first feeling when I got behind the wheel of a symbol: "Oh, yes, this is a foreign car !!" The dashboard and the front panel in the symbol, although made of hard plastic, are richer, there is a backlight in the glove compartment !! :), the power window buttons are located on the left door, and not on the center panel, as in Logan, the seat fabric is of higher quality. There are other nice little things too. For example, there is a central locking button on the key, when the doors are unlocked, the interior light is automatically lit up, and when the ceiling light goes out when locked, this was not the case in Logan. By the way, I never put the signaling on the symbol.

The steering column is height adjustable, set it up once and forget it.

There are pockets in the backs of the front seats; even that was not in the Logan.

The trunk lid is neatly lined with felt from the inside, bare metal in the logan. There is no metal in the trunk itself, since it is all covered with rigid molded felt. The quality of the felt cannot be compared with that of Logan's. Balon, towing bolt and jack are packed in a special device that lies inside the spare wheel. In Logan, it was all attached to the inner side panel. The felt on the boot floor is hard, because on the reverse side sheathed with cardboard. In Logan, I had to do it myself, since the trunk floor without cardboard is uneven.

The backrest of the rear seat in the symbol is folded (while the opening buttons are neat and convenient). But it is worth saying that the opening from the passenger compartment to the trunk turns out to be very low (stiffening rib), so it will turn out to be a hard length to put horseradish. In particular, my snowboard, without scratching, cannot be thrust into a stiffener.

The central locking also extends to the trunk. In Logan, the trunk was locked / unlocked only with a key.

There are three rear head restraints, they are adjustable, in the lower position they are recessed into the seat back (like in a real foreign car! :)), which is convenient and does not interfere with the view back. There are only two of them in logans and they do not hide in the back. In my Logan, they were not at all.

And more !! The pibikalka is installed normal, and not at the end of the left steering column switch, like in Logan !! :) I'm used to this feature, but it annoys many.

There are other pribluds, but they relate more to the configuration features: there are foglights, condo, head unit, heated mirrors, BC, height-adjustable driver's seat, and all the body parts are painted :).

I will not describe the exterior, because for most both cars are ugly, the symbol is even uglier, probably. In general, the interior and exterior of Renault sucks. The exception is the megan hatchback (both new and old), IMHO.

Now about the operation. The second feeling, when I sat down in the symbol, is closer in the cabin. This one touches the upper part of the cabin. I am 175 cm tall and my seat is in the down position. Tall drivers will miss the space to the left of their heads. True, I sit upright, if the back of the seat is lowered, then everything will be OK for the tall ones. Tighter at the top and in the back seat. In Logan, I put my snowboard vertically behind the front seat, rolling it all the way forward. At the same time, the upper part practically rested against the rear window. It didn't work out in the simbola, it didn't fit in the trunk either (it didn't fit in the logan either). Folding the back seat, the result is also not achieved. Had to buy a roof rack. I was lucky, I found a new one in the package right away along with ski pins for only 5 tr. The woman bought for her symbol, but never used it. Otherwise I would have to buy a new one. I will say that the roof rack is a cool thing! In winter, snowboards ride on the top (which is very convenient), and in summer, cabinets and tables.

As I said, the trunk is connected to the central locking system and is locked / unlocked from the button on the key. The boot lid is opened with a button that is integrated into the Renault emblem. The downside is that there are no larvae for the key in the trunk lock. Literally after six months of operation, the central locking device that unlocks the trunk lock broke down, I had to climb into the trunk through the passenger compartment to unlock the lock. The trunk is now not locked. So far nothing has been rested from him. I witnessed a similar picture. A man in a neighboring yard climbed into the trunk through the salon, because in the spring after the winter parking the battery sat down, as a result the central control did not work. I opened the doors with the key, and the trunk - hell!

The trunk opening in Logan is larger and more convenient, that's a fact. But the trunk of the symbol is larger: it accommodates all four wheels (14 "), when replacing the rubber in the logan, the fourth wheel was located in the cabin. The height of the trunks is absolutely the same.

Logan is better prepared for winter operation. The simbola does not have air ducts to the rear passengers under the front seats !!! It's just a kapets !!! You can buy in existential, but too lazy to bother with it. The rear window is heated worse than in Logan. In Logan, the rear window was heated with a bang even at minus 35. In the simbola, the heater copes only with fogging. Perhaps this is a drawback of my particular copy. In spring and autumn, in muddy roads, it is often necessary to knead a mixture of mud and snow. After such trips, it is necessary to work with the gearbox mixer, otherwise the fifth or rear may not stick. Jokes, jokes, but one morning after leaving on the road, I could not turn on the fifth after such a trip. I had to drive the car into a warm garage for the snow to melt. After that, no problem. The fact is that dirt and snow clog up the space between the crankcase and the engine protection, and somewhere in that area there is also the gearbox switch actuator.

The simbol starts up in cold weather without problems, the battery is native.

The clearance of the symbol is similar to that of the Logan.

In the symbol, the rear door limit switches are located on top, so they do not get water and dirt like in Logan.

The consumption of the symbol is less. If you do not vomit on the BC comes out 7.5 liters. 50% city, 50% highway. The condo is sometimes on, sometimes off. On the highway, the speed is 120-130 km / h. I tried to somehow achieve the minimum consumption. I drove 90-100 km / h on the highway, accelerated smoothly in the city, coasting whenever possible. It turned out something about 6.3 liters. But even pensioners don't go like that! :))) In short, 7.5 liters of real consumption, it turns out on checks as well.

The biggest jamb in my symbole is the clutch creak. In the heat, the clutch pedal is extremely uninformative, tight, and even squeaks disgustingly. It infuriates me. Officials say "a feature of the car." What is this feature ??? Driving in traffic jams in the heat (when over +30) is a torment. All that these degenerate ones can do is rinse with Karcher and grease the wings with oil. Helps for 2-3 days. I did not find an answer to the solution to the problem in the forums. Such a jamb, by the way, happened on Logan, but it both appeared and disappeared (it lasted about 10 days).

The first feeling (they were confirmed in the future) is how the engine started and drove like this:

    the engine is much quieter. I installed a Shumka in Logan, but even with it, Logan's engine is louder;

    transmissions in the symbol are shorter. Apparently, therefore, it subjectively accelerates faster, although the engine is 1.4 and only 75 horses;

    on small joints and bumps, the symbol is tougher than the logan. Maybe these are the features of rubber, since in general the suspension is no less energy-intensive;

    there is more noise from the road in the simbola, but in Logan I made a Shumka. Therefore, I cannot objectively compare this indicator;

    when I first went on the highway on a symbol, I remembered the "young" Logan. Their behavior on the road is similar. Unless in a crosswind, the symbol holds the road better.

Subjectively, the elasticity of the Logan engine is slightly higher, after all, the displacement makes itself felt. This is felt first of all at the speed with a full load of the car. When loading 5 people + full trunk + condo, the symbol does not go. It is necessary for the fifth person to get out of the passenger compartment and push the car from behind. There was no air conditioning in the logan, so I can't say how turning it on / off affects the dynamics of the car at speed.

Replaced parts and breakdowns for 66 thousand mileage:

A month after the purchase (about 15 thousand run), the radio tape recorder died. Officials replaced for FREE with a new one. How this happened I don’t know, the car by that time was almost 4 years old from the date of purchase;

I don’t remember at what thousand the central locking system of the trunk lid broke, the lock on it has not been locked since then;

I changed the front pads by about 45 thousand;

At 60 thousand, the low beam lamp in the left headlight burned out, changed;

At 63 thousand I changed the tie rods-tips (in pairs);

I changed timing rollers / belts and attachments for 65 thousand;

Oil, filters every 15 thousand. I don't follow this strictly. Once I drove 18 thousand without oil change;

I changed the candles right after the purchase (when I did the first MOT), after that I did not change it;

In the summer, once a month I go to wash and lubricate the stage so that the clutch pedal does not creak, it helps for 2-3 days if the heat is over 30;

At 66 thousand, for the first time, when stopping in front of a traffic light, when the gas pedal was released, the engine speed was delayed for a second and only then dropped to normal. This is a harbinger of replacing the throttle cable or problems with the throttle valve.

So, which to take a Logan or a Simbol? From the point of view of operation and exterior amenities, the Symbol is definitely more advanced than the Logan. There is no absolute savings in everything. At the same time, technically, these cars are similar and the jambs are innate the same. For example, I changed the throttle cable on Logan two times, a sign of its imminent replacement appeared on the symbol. The squeak of the clutch wings on engines 1.4 (1.6 too) is manifested both on the Logan and on the symbol. And this is perhaps the most unpleasant jamb of these cars. Tie rod ends run roughly the same on both models. The disease of both cars is the inner boot of the left wheel drive. It is susceptible to pollution and in winter it can break on frozen mud and ice, it was on my Logan. Now a crunch appeared on my simbol when starting off under load (uphill, for example). But I can’t say whether this is so now, since the sound was a couple of times and not obvious, you need to specifically define it. But the crunch of the inner CV joint on logans and symbols is also found. In terms of the volume of internal space, cars also do not fundamentally differ.

My advice is the following: if you buy a used car and the exterior matters to you, then the symbol is, but it will be correspondingly more expensive. If you choose from NEW cars, and with an ENGINE 1.6 16 cl, then I would take a symbol. Take Logan for 470 tr. - this is too much, and the symbol can be taken for 500 tr. in the normal configuration. Now the new Symbols are sold only with the 1.6 16 cl engine.

P / S if they tell you that the logan / symbol does not break, then they lie to you. Original spare parts for them cost unrealistic money. Non-original ones are comparable to spare parts for cars of a higher class.

And since I like to sit higher, we raise it to the maximum, after which the steering wheel is very comfortable to lay down in hand. Ouch! Somehow the roof has become too close, it is easy to touch it simply by raising your hand up ... Yes, and rear passengers, especially taller than average height, are probably not very comfortable (especially if I take into account the roof roll from behind).


Control of turn signals, light, washer - in the same way as on other Renoshkas. And what is this under the right hand? Radio control, however. Quite convenient, but takes some getting used to. We get used to further.
The radio tape recorder is intuitive, the climate control is the same (in fact, I didn’t take too much steam, but pressed the Auto button and chose 22 degrees). Information from the dashboard is read without much stress, but the right information row is blocked by the steering wheel rim. The only perplexity is the speedometer, marked as 10..30..50..70..90 ... Quite strange, the numbers 40 and 60 on the roads of our country are much more common.
The left hand rests on the door armrest, and the window regulator buttons and the mirror adjustment joystick immediately fall under the fingers. There is no armrest under the right hand, which is a pity ... Adjusting the mirrors. After the huge Logan mirrors, these look small. The mirrors are quite interesting - the mirror is convex on the sides, and should show what is in the dead zone.

Contrary to its own expectations, the left leg jerked only once, after which it calmed down and no longer showed signs of excitement. Triggering on the rise is also a song! Let go of the pedal and go. Up a hill, down a hill, in a straight line - everything is one. I'm fascinated by the automaton :)

There were also complaints about the chair. Still, there is not enough back support roller, and the seat itself would not hurt to be longer.


And here is the house. We turn on the back, we park ... The view back is good, but still there is not enough parking sensors. I got used to his beeping, what can I do ...

He took the sold Matiz instead. Found, oddly enough, pretty quickly, calling offhand on the ad avito.ru We agreed to meet on the square, where I went from my parents' house with string bags. Examined the car, outwardly no crime, it is immediately clear that "not a bit / not painted", the engine runs smoothly. We drove, it goes smoothly, there are no breakdowns, there are no squeaks either (I overlooked, as it turned out later, a crisp CV joint). I rolled myself, it was striking that the vibrations were transmitted to the gearshift lever, but then it turned out that this was a design feature - switching not on the cables, but on the levers. And so ... Accelerates (after Matiz) frighteningly quickly, it is beautiful inside, gears are shifted clearly, regardless of whether you downshift or upshift. All in all NORM! We agreed that he would not sell the car. We discussed the price by phone, agreed on 255 thousand rubles... Then DCT, registration in MREO, insurance.

By expenses:

1. Insurance. Because I had an emergency luch last fall (tangential accident) I was brought into "1st category", therefore, unplanned, they ripped me off as much 6400 rbl.

Strengths:

  • Rigid suspension. On the one hand, this is a plus, but I would like a softer suspension
  • It's a bit cramped inside the cabin. About the same as in the prototype of Symbol-Grant.
  • The windows fog up in damp weather. It is treated by blowing the windshield. Apparently, the hood is not so effective.
  • Many units and parts are assembled, because of this, the price tag on them increases significantly. Renault-Nissan detected.

1. The agony of choice.

There were almost none. In 2010, my wife and I decided to change the car 21099 (it was restored after an accident) for a new LOGAN, they came to the salon and oh ... and - to wait 8 months in the required configuration. There was not enough money for MEGANE, even with a discount, but then the salon manager (my former classmate) came to the rescue and said - take SYMBOL, it was in 2008 in the TCP, in the salon it was like an exhibition, and the discount on it was 110 sput. The equipment for the car - EXPRESSION (2 pillows, ABS, music with the steering wheel joystick, improved seat fabric, air conditioning, etc.), engine 1.4 98 hp. and the box is automatic. Automatic DP0, has several additional. modes - winter, 2, 1 and D3. And all this for 450 sput. (with discount). LOGAN in the configuration I wanted came out in 430 sput. After thinking, we decided - we should take SYMBOL, which was done.

I chose this car for a long time, reviewed many options, I wanted to stop at Logan, but I won over the appearance of the symbol, the fact that it was recently updated (the predecessor was too ugly) and a 16-valve engine, which Logan did not yet have.

I stopped at Renault almost immediately, I dismissed the VAZ “masterpieces” as soon as I opened the priors door (it cracked, creaked and with good effort I opened it, and then closed it), did not want to give almost 400,000 for the car, in which I was still investing and investing ... The option with the Volga 31105 was very interesting, but the impression was spoiled right in the cabin by a jammed door. In the end, he chose between Logan, Accent and Specter. The decision to buy Symbol was spontaneous, and I hardly regret it.

I took the car in the minimum configuration: 1.4 engine, front windows, power steering. Additionally, I put only speakers, a radio tape recorder and an alarm.

Strengths:

Recall Renault Symbol 1.4 (Renault Symbol) 2008

An old acquaintance bought himself this brainchild of the French-Turkish car industry in 2009 and managed to drive it as much as 13,500 kilometers in a year and a half. In principle, he is pleased with his purchase, but does not feel much enthusiasm, they say, "yes, the machine is undoubtedly reliable, quite comfortable, but if it would have been more frolic ..." With the Renault Clio 2 hatchback, on the basis of which and this little car was built, I have an "old love", but on her "little brother" sedan "Symbol" - until now, somehow I didn't really have to travel. Therefore, I wanted to figure out how the Franco-Turks could have managed to disfigure Renault Clio 2 so much that as a result its famous “playfulness” disappeared? :)

In my review of the Symbol, I will try not to compare it with anything. I will talk about what I saw and understood - exclusively according to the Yakut folk principle “I see the motor - I sing the motor”. The configurations of "Symbols" can be quite varied - in this case we will talk about "Expression" with a manual transmission-5 and a K4J-DOHC-16V-98hp engine, assembled in Turkey.

"Experienced Symbolists" will hardly be able to find something "new" in my "opus", but for some motorists who have never encountered the "French car industry" - I hope it will be interesting to know in more detail what "RENAULT SYMBOL" is. "(Aka Renault Thalia, aka Nissan Platinum) ... What if someone wants to join the multimillion-dollar ranks of renowned brands after reading! :)
