Replacing the UAZ Patriot engine with an imported one. UAZ Patriot engine - which one to choose? What engine will be on the UAZ patriot

The famous Russian off-road vehicle UAZ-3163 has been produced in Ulyanovsk since 2005, the car is equipped with different types of power units. UAZ Patriot engines are both gasoline and diesel, each engine has its own characteristic differences, advantages and disadvantages.

We will consider in this article what features are in the repair of one or another internal combustion engine, what should be paid special attention to, at the same time we will “go over” all the technical characteristics of UAZ engines.

Replacing the engine with a UAZ Patriot

From the very beginning of production, UAZ Patriot was equipped with two types of engines:

  • gasoline 4-cylinder in-line engine ZMZ-409;
  • turbodiesel ZMZ-514.

Both versions of the internal combustion engine are produced at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant; as part of an SUV, they have been modernized more than once. In particular, in 2007, a new electronic unit with Mikas-11 firmware appeared in the engine control system at ZMZ-409, and in 2008 the engine began to comply with Euro-3 environmental standards. In 2009, the line of power units was updated, and the Italian turbocharged diesel engine Iveco F1A was added to it, and in 2012 improved engines ZMZ-51432 and ZMZ-40905 appeared, and since that time they meet the environmental requirements of Euro-4. Also in 2012, it was decided to abandon the Italian diesel engine for economic reasons, and therefore a new development of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant ZMZ-51432 appeared.

If the engine reaches the end of its resource, it is not always advisable to repair it - in some cases it is easier and cheaper to completely change the power unit than to repair it. Here, car owners always have a question - which engine is better to install instead of a failed internal combustion engine?

Some UAZ car owners put foreign engines on the car, for example:

  • Isuzu 4JB1 2.8 L;
  • Toyota 14V 3.7 L;
  • Nissan TD27 2.7 L

But when replacing the engine with a UAZ Patriot, it should be borne in mind that it will have to be mounted together with a gearbox and a razdatka, which is more expensive, and besides, it will be necessary to re-register with the traffic police. Undoubtedly, diesels are more economical than gasoline "brothers", but the poor quality of Russian diesel fuel makes one wonder whether a diesel engine is needed for UAZ Patriot.

The first diesel engine installed on the UAZ Patriot was the ZMZ-514 98 hp. With. and a volume of 2.2 liters. This ICE can hardly be called successful - breakdowns often occur on it, and problems arise with spare parts, since they are not always available. The most common malfunctions of the 514th are burnout of the head gasket, the appearance of cracks in the cylinder head. The main problems of this engine include:

  • difficult start in cold weather, the engine is very difficult to start even at a temperature of -15… -20ºC;
  • spare parts are expensive for this internal combustion engine, in particular, injectors and high-pressure fuel pumps;
  • in order for the engine to serve properly, the engine oil should be changed frequently (after 5-7.5 thousand km);
  • diesel 514 has a small piston group resource - pistons and piston rings fail.

In 2009, the Iveco F1A power unit with a capacity of 116 hp appeared on the UAZ Patriot. With. and a volume of 2.2 liters, it is also installed on cars Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily. This engine is already reliable enough, but not "sinless" - it also has its own problems.

Iveco F1A is equipped with hydraulic expansion joints, so valve adjustment is not required on it. Fuel system "Iveco" - Common Rail, with its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of "Common Rail" are high efficiency and improved engine dynamics, but this system is very capricious in relation to fuel quality. First of all, injectors start to fail, and they are expensive on IVECO. In general, the repair of an Italian diesel engine itself costs a pretty penny, so you need to drive a car with this engine very carefully.

UAZ Patriot with a diesel engine ZMZ-51432 is also equipped with Common Rail, and the fuel system does not digest bad diesel fuel at all - nozzles fail from bad diesel fuel. This engine began to be installed on the car relatively recently, so it is still too early to talk about all the shortcomings of the internal combustion engine.

New engine UAZ Patriot 2016

In 2016, the plant workers are going to bring all the power units of the UAZ Patriot in line with the Euro-5 standards, but for now, in the first half of 2016, two types of power units are regularly installed on the SUV:

  • gasoline engine ZMZ-409 (128 hp);
  • turbodiesel ZMZ-51432 (113 hp).

Now at the Ulyanovsk plant, an updated version of the Patriot is being developed, which will presumably be named UAZ-3170. For the future model in the Volga region, a new gasoline power unit is being developed, with an approximate capacity of 140 liters. With. and a volume of two liters. There is no exact information yet, but it is likely that the new UAZ Patriot 2016 engine will also be equipped with the 3163 model.

ZMZ-409

The prototype of the ICE model "four hundred and ninth" series is the well-known engine ZMZ-406, which was installed on cars produced by GAZ "Volga" and "Gazelle". The engine has a timing chain drive, two camshafts in the cylinder head, an overhead valve arrangement. The first samples of this motor appeared in 1993, and in 1997 its mass production began. In total, two main types of 406 internal combustion engines with different fuel systems were developed - with a carburetor for the Gazelle and distributed injection (injector type) for the Volga GAZ 3110/31105.

In 2000, the Zavolzhsky plant began producing a new model of the ZMZ-405 power unit - this engine is also an injection engine, but it has an increased piston diameter - it is three and a half millimeters larger (95.5 instead of 92 mm). The "four hundred and ninth" ICE has been produced since 2001, unlike the 405th, this engine has a crankshaft with a different overhang of the connecting rod journals, and therefore its piston stroke is increased by 8 mm. Also, other pistons are used in the engine - they have the same diameter of 95.5 mm, but their piston pin bosses are displaced by 4 mm.

The first ZMZ-40905 engine in the Zavolzhye was assembled at the end of 2011, many parts in it were unified with the 40904.10 engine, but 27 new elements were also used. Basically, the changes affected the ECM, the gas distribution mechanism, as well as the ventilation system.

Due to the improvements made to the UAZ Patriot 409, the Euro-4 engine reduced the level of toxicity of exhaust gases, slightly reduced fuel consumption, and the internal combustion engine became quieter. ZMZ began serial production of model 40905.10 from the beginning of 2012, the power unit is being produced to this day.

Specifications ZMZ-409

The first engines installed on the UAZ Patriot have modification 409.10, brought in line with Euro-2 environmental standards. Later, 40904.10 (Euro-3) began to be produced, then the model of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant 40905.10 (Euro-4) went into production. All these internal combustion engines were installed not only by the UAZ Patriot, the Ulyanovsk cars Kargo, Hunter, "Pickup" were also equipped with power units. Engines of the ZMZ-409 series have a capacity of 128 hp. with., but the UAZ Patriot is also equipped with a deformed internal combustion engine ZMZ-4091 (112 hp).

The technical characteristics of the "four hundred and ninth" are as follows:

  • arrangement of cylinders - in-line;
  • power - 128 liters. With. (in the version 4091 - 112 liters. from.);
  • fuel system type - distributed injection (injector);
  • number of cylinders - 4;
  • volume of cylinders - 2693 cm³;
  • the number of valves in the combustion chamber - 4;
  • timing drive - chain;
  • compression ratio - 9;
  • standard cylinder size - 95.5 mm;
  • weight of the power unit with attachments - 190 kg;
  • used fuel - AI-92 (AI-95);
  • cylinder block material - cast iron;
  • cylinder head - aluminum;
  • the number of camshafts in the engine - 2;
  • piston stroke - 94 mm.

It should be noted that it is easy to make the 405th from the 409th engine - for this it is enough just to change the crankshaft and pistons, all other parts remain the same.

A serious drawback of the ZMZ-409 is its very low efficiency, although the manufacturer claims an average fuel consumption on the highway of 11.5 liters per “hundred”. On some cars, fuel is consumed up to 17-20 liters per 100 km, however, much depends on the equipment of the car - fuel consumption increases if the UAZ has an air conditioner, a winch, etc., the driving style, road condition, period of operation ( fuel consumption increases significantly in winter).

Created on the basis of the ZMZ-406 internal combustion engine, the "four hundred and ninth" took over all the "diseases" of its predecessor, exactly the same basic malfunctions are found in 405 engines.

In general, the "409" engine has a good resource - before overhaul, such motors take care of 300-350 thousand km on average, but the timing chains are the weakest point of all these power units. If the chain drive makes a noise at low mileage, it is likely that the hydraulic tensioner is out of order. A symptom of a malfunction is the "diesel" sound of the internal combustion engine at idle. Riding with such a noise is not worth it, as a weakened chain can jump on the teeth of the gears, and in the worst case, break. Changing the hydraulic tensioner is very simple, the work time takes no more than an hour.

On average, the parts of the gas distribution mechanism serve 70-100 thousand km, and before a major overhaul, it is usually necessary to replace the chain 3-4 times, as well as change the timing tensioners and dampers. If the chain breaks on the road, this is very unpleasant, but the valves in the block head do not bend at the same time.

The next characteristic "disease" of 406/405/409 engines is oil leakage through the valve cover gasket. But this is generally a trifle, and it is not a disaster as such, it does not significantly affect oil consumption. But another fairly frequent breakdown already strongly "strains" car owners - in case of overheating of the internal combustion engine, the surface of the cylinder head is deformed, and the cylinder head has to be milled. In the case of severe overheating, milling no longer helps, and the block head then has to be changed.

The last thing that should be noted in the typical malfunctions of the 409 power units is the periodically failing hydraulic valve lifters. A knock may start after 50-70 thousand km of run, and at first it appears on a cold engine, and disappears on a hot one. If the valves are knocking on a warm engine, then it is definitely time to change the hydraulic lifters. Typical "illnesses" do not appear so quickly and often appear if good oil is poured into the engine, and besides, it is regularly changed. Therefore, the question of what kind of oil to pour into the engine is relevant, and it should be approached with full responsibility.

It is very important to change the lubricant in the engine in time - even the best oil loses its lubricating properties during operation and turns black from the accumulated abrasive and slag. On gasoline engines, it is recommended to change the oil every 10-15 thousand km, on diesel engines, such an operation should be carried out more often - approximately once every 7.5-10 thousand km. The frequency of replacement depends on the operating conditions - it is necessary to change the lubricant more often if the machine is working with increased loads, on dusty, dirt roads or off-road.

Often car owners are interested in how much oil to pour into the engine? 7 liters are poured into the "dry" ZMZ-409 engine of any modification, and a little less is required for a simple lubricant change - somewhere between 6.0-6.3 liters. For diesel engines, oil, respectively, will require:

  • for ZMZ-51432, the full filling volume is 6.5 liters, when replacing - 5.3-5.5 liters;
  • for Iveco F1A - 5.3 liters, when replacing - 4.2 liters.

What kind of oil to fill in the engine is also set frequently. In any case, it is important to fill in high-quality oil from trusted manufacturers, and you need to pay attention that diesel engines are especially critical to the composition of the oil. You should also take into account the period of operation - according to the SAE classification, in the summer, the oil is poured with a more viscous composition, and in winter it is more liquid - in frost, it is necessary to ensure a trouble-free engine start. "Mineral water" should not be poured, and it is preferable to use only "synthetics".

Specifications ZMZ-51432

The ZMZ-51432 diesel model is built on the basis of the ZMZ-514 - both power units have the same cylinder volume, it is 2.2 liters, and there are also many common parts, such as the crankshaft and the cylinder block. But the new model also has serious updates, other spare parts are installed in the 51432 turbodiesel:

  • cylinder head;
  • high pressure fuel pump;
  • crankshaft pulley;
  • nozzles;
  • timing chain cover.

Compared to its predecessor, the new engine produces 114 horsepower versus 98 on the internal combustion engine 514, and the most important difference of the new engine is the Common Rail fuel system manufactured by Bosch, the installation of which increased the efficiency of the diesel engine, and thanks to the vehicle with direct injection into the cylinders, the engine began to respond Euro-4 standards. The technical characteristics of the Zavolzhsky turbodiesel are as follows:

  • volume - 2235 cm³;
  • number of cylinders - 4;
  • power - 113.5 horsepower;
  • gas distribution mechanism drive - chain;
  • compression ratio –19.2;
  • standard cylinder diameter - 87 mm;
  • the number of valves in the combustion chamber - 4;
  • piston stroke - 94 mm.

According to the manufacturer's instructions, diesel fuel consumption for the UAZ Patriot is 8.5-9 l / 100 km at a speed of 90 km / h and 12.7 liters at 120 km / h. The maximum speed that a car with this engine can reach is - 135 km / h.

Two humps are only good for a desert ship. But an SUV is not a camel, a double-humped torque curve for its engine is not the best option. That is why I shuddered when my good friend Volodya Sharandin invited me to drive the Patriot along the ice track.

We passed, we know! To drive, when after the first burst the thrust drops to three thousand rpm? Dubious pleasure. Even the next surge in the region of four thousand does not help. Yes, and high-speed exercises on the Ulyanovsk all-terrain vehicle seemed to me akin to off-roading on a passenger car.

But Volodya knows how to persuade and, frankly, never came up with stupid ideas. Moreover, he had not been to his homeland for fifteen years, and during this time he became a cool automotive engineer, complementing his Russian education with American and European. Today his strong point is civilized tuning in its own center. In general, I was intrigued: UAZ in its performance should be extraordinary.

Gave traction

The door slammed and I was driving the Patriot. Everything is familiar, only the engine sounds strange. Not louder, but the tonality has changed, and for the better. I like this song better than the old one. How about on the go?

Here the moment is two hundred and seventy and the power is one hundred and eighty. Don't be shy, spin until you cut it off!

Sharandin urges me on, but you don't have to ask me for a long time. Gas to the floor! I did not ride such a Patriot - it accelerates very quickly! It even got scary: you have to get used to the brisk character, because the chassis and brakes are standard, but the agility is different. Vnatyag? And at the bottom, this Patriot is more convincing. Lucky exactly, without plugs. Especially after 1800 rpm.

A surprise awaits me on the track - a standard Patriot. Volodya provided for this "piano in the bushes" so that I could change from car to car - for comparison. Well, go ahead!

First, a small motocross piece. You can't accelerate here: continuous hills with steep descents and ascents. Serial Patriot took all the slides - some in first gear, some in second. And in a car with a modified engine, you can go differently: after a couple of climbs, I stop switching - there is enough traction, I go through the entire obstacle course in second gear.

The highlight of the program is the autocross track. Turning corners and appendixes, ice interspersed with snow porridge. The serial Patriot, with its weight and overall height, handles well on slippery roads. Of course, we have to be active. I twist it at large angles - tea, the mechanism is not rack and pinion. In areas with loose snow, so as not to lose speed, I switch from third gear to second. I switch often, but in general - bearable. To be honest, after this "race" I changed my opinion about the Patriot for the better, but did not get much pleasure. Still, a serial UAZ is not for drifts and drifts, storming turns with a fan is not his element.

Now - 182-strong car. Truly, there is never too much power and moment! The chassis is the same, but the ride is more pleasant and, most importantly, safer. Almost the entire track is in third gear, switching only in a couple of places. Now I understand why Sharandin invited him exactly: this Patriot is already controlled by gas - and you get pleasure from the process. Instead of oiling the steering wheel, you can actively use traction - the engine, one might say, pulls the Patriot out of the demolition.

Arrived in our shelf

At the base where Volodya is finalizing the cars, homework is already in store.

Look, we managed to smooth out the humps, and not just raise the torque!

Sharandin puts out a printout of the external speed characteristics of the motor, taken on the MAHA roller stand. Indeed, an almost flat shelf of 260–270 Nm in the range of 1800–4800 rpm. And the power is much higher: 182 hp. at 5200 rpm. The serial engine produces 134 hp, and the maximum 217 Newton meters - the same humps at 2500 and 4000 rpm. The most curious thing is that such results were achieved without opening the engine and, accordingly, without installing new shafts, pistons, connecting rods. Changed only inlet and.

Direct flow? Whom will you surprise! Everything is much more interesting than the primitive struggle against backpressure - here the intake and exhaust are coordinated.

Shelf alignment technology is as follows. First, a 3D scan of the engine compartment and the underside of the car. This allows you to evaluate the space in which new parts are to be placed. Then comes the calculation and design of iron.

The task is to boost the engine by improving the filling of the cylinders. To do this, work with air flows at the inlet and outlet and harmonize the wave processes in the engine.

Then an exhaust manifold is made with pipes of equal length. The "spider" of the 4-2-1 scheme has fit into the UAZ (option 4-1 cannot be placed in the engine compartment). That is, the pipes are first merged in pairs, and then they go into a single pipe. Next comes the modified resonator and muffler. Everything is stainless steel.

And also - a non-standard inlet. The low resistance filter is placed in a cold zone where the air density is higher. Behind it is a diffuser and an intake pipe. Their diameters, roundings, dimensions are the result of calculations and experiments. After all, the air flow does not like a sharp change in direction, sharp contractions and expansions.

After assembling the components on the car, the fine-tuning procedure begins on the MAHA roller stand. The wheels are scored and the electronics plotted power and torque curves. In the initial version, telescopic pipes are used - by changing their length, the developer adjusts the characteristics. Volodya, although he is a race car driver in the past, prefers to rely not on high revs, but for a moment - such motors are much more convenient in everyday use. The Patriot is a very special case: improvements should not affect his all-terrain qualities. To lose traction at low revs is to ditch.

If it is possible to get a weighty supplement due to "inhalation-exhalation", that is, inlet and outlet, why does the plant not do this?

Features of mass production do not imply individual selection of engine characteristics and work on "gold" technologies. There the average setting rules the ball. "Eternal" stainless steel release, playing with telescopic collector pipes, rejection of a filter box in favor of a low-resistance filter is the lot of small tuning firms. And they kill several birds with one stone.

Moderate forcing does not affect. In this regard, working with a hitch is a much less risky business than disassembling the engine with the replacement of expensive parts. And, which is very pleasant, the price is not exorbitant. The modified intake-exhaust system costs about 50 thousand rubles - taking into account the installation and settings.

New engine UAZ Patriot 150 hp will appear under the hood of an SUV soon. Another modernization of the well-known 409 engine made it possible to significantly increase power. Recall that now the 2.7-liter 16-valve engine with a chain drive on the Patriot develops only 135 hp, a little earlier it produced 128 horsepower.

The next modernization of the 4-cylinder aspirated engine made it possible to squeeze out not only more power. But also to create a competitive modern unit. You can find out about the state of the motor using the delphi ds150e diagnostic scanner connected via the OBD2 protocol connector. If for foreign cars, this has long been the norm, then on domestic cars such an opportunity to check the technical condition of a car has appeared relatively recently.

The manufacturer itself proudly declares that the real power has increased to 160 horses, but this figure has been adjusted to the level of 150 hp, so that buyers do not have to pay an increased road tax. Today we will tell you how we managed to increase the power and what has changed in the well-known ZMZ 409, which is now called the ZMZ PRO.

Changes to the new engine UAZ Patriot 150 hp

  • 1. The compression ratio was increased from 9.1 to 9.8
  • 2. The valve lift was increased by 0.5 mm due to new camshafts.
  • 3. Changed the valve timing.
  • 4. Applied the new geometry of the exhaust system.
  • 5. Used a new timing chain and piston group.
  • 6. Raised the speed of maximum power from 4600 to 5000 rpm.

Perhaps the most pleasant circumstance, not only an increase in 15 horses, but also an increase in torque from 217 Nm to 235 Nm... In addition, if on the old version of the UAZ Patriot 409-06 engine, the maximum torque was available only from 3900 rpm, now this level has been reduced to 2600 rpm. That is, in order to drive normally with ZMZ PRO (409-051), you will not have to turn the engine at maximum speed, and this will significantly reduce fuel consumption.

It is the fuel consumption for the UAZ Patriot that is one of the significant disadvantages. By the way, it is logical to assume that an increase in the compression ratio will require a higher quality gasoline, however, the developers of the new version of the 409th assure that AI-92 gasoline is also quite suitable.

Characteristics of the UAZ Patriot ZMZ PRO 150 hp engine

  • Working volume - 2693 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 95.5 mm
  • Piston stroke - 94 mm
  • Power h.p. - 149.6 at 5000 rpm
  • Power kW - 110 at 5000 rpm
  • Torque - 235 Nm at 2650 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 9.8
  • Timing drive - chain
  • Fuel type - gasoline AI 92

Moreover, buyers are promised not only a new engine with increased power, but also another modification of this gas-powered power unit. It's no secret that many owners of Patriots in our country independently convert the gluttonous 2.7-liter engine to gas engine fuel. True, the power of this version will drop to 143 hp. (227 Nm). A propane-butane mixture will act as an alternative to gasoline.

UAZ Patriot engine, which was installed on the last year's model, remained on the restyled UAZ Patriot 2015. There have been no major changes, customers are offered a choice of gasoline and diesel versions of the engine. Both engines are ZMZ. The diesel engine ZMZ-51432.10 CRS with a Common Rail fuel supply system and a turbine complies with Euro-4. The new gasoline ZMZ-409 also complies with Euro-4 and is ready to digest AI-92 fuel. Today we will tell you in detail about the characteristics of both motors.

So, gasoline engine UAZ Patriot ZMZ-409, it is a 4-cylinder, 16-valve, in-line, with an integrated microprocessor-based fuel injection control system. Fuel injection is carried out into the intake pipe. Ignition system with coils that supply current to the spark plugs screwed vertically in the center of the combustion chambers. There are even special wells in the cylinder head cover for this. Microprocessor system with an electronic engine control unit, automatically controls the ignition timing.

The cylinder block of the power unit is cast from a cast iron alloy, the cylinder head is aluminum, with two camshafts and hydraulic valve lifters. Timing chain drive... At the same time, the chain device of the gas distribution mechanism of the UAZ Patriot engine is very complex, since it consists of two chains connected through an intermediate shaft. Plus there are two chain tensioners with sprockets. This entire structure is the weak point of the entire engine, since insufficient tension, breakdown of the hydraulic tensioner, leads to increased noise of the UAZ Patriot engine. In addition, hydraulic lifters often fail, which leads to a knock in the valve mechanism.

Engine UAZ Patriot 2.7 petrol (128 hp) characteristics, fuel consumption, dynamics

  • Working volume - 2693 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 95.5 mm
  • Piston stroke - 94 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 128 / 94.1 at 4600 rpm
  • Torque - 209.7 Nm at 2500 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 9
  • Fuel grade - gasoline AI 92
  • Environmental class - Euro-4
  • Maximum speed - 150 km / h
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h - n / a
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 11.5 liters

Naturally, the manufacturer does not name objective data on the fuel consumption of the gasoline Patriot in urban conditions. The reason is understandable, rather high fuel consumption can frighten off buyers. If you want to save on fuel, then buy a UAZ Patriot with a diesel engine, which we will talk about further.

Diesel UAZ Patriot collected at the same Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. Inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve power unit with two camshafts. Timing chain drive with hydraulic tensioners. The valve train has hydraulic lifters. The cylinder block is cast iron, the block head is aluminum, there is a turbocharger. The diesel engine ZMZ-51432.10 CRS with a Common Rail fuel supply system has an electronically controlled BOSCH fuel supply system with a maximum injection pressure of 1450 bar. To drive the high pressure fuel pump (high pressure fuel pump), the water pump and the generator, a poly V-belt with an automatic tension mechanism is used.

Diesel engine UAZ Patriot, with direct fuel injection, turbocharging and charge air cooling complies with the Euro-4 emission class. This engine is distinguished by good torque, which is indispensable for off-road, plus quite moderate fuel consumption. Below are detailed characteristics of the Patriot diesel engine.

Engine UAZ Patriot 2.3 diesel (114 hp) characteristics, fuel consumption, dynamics

  • Working volume - 2235 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 87 mm
  • Piston stroke - 94 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 113.5 / 83.5 at 3500 rpm
  • Torque - 270 Nm at 1300-2800 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 19
  • Timing Type / Timing Drive - DOHC / Chain
  • Fuel grade - diesel
  • Environmental class - Euro-4
  • Maximum speed - 135 km / h
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h - n / a
  • Fuel consumption in the city - n / a
  • Combined fuel consumption - n / a
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 9.5 liters

The Patriot's diesel unit has a problem with the 5-speed manual gearbox that prevents it from taking full advantage of the engine. When driving on a highway, the diesel engine simply lacks the 6th gear. Although it is ideal for off-road conditions. By the way, the gearbox for a gasoline engine has a gear ratio of the main pair of 4.11, for a diesel engine it is 4.625. When buying, it is recommended to install a pre-heater, otherwise problems with starting this engine will begin in winter.

UAZ Patriot is a Russian mid-range SUV that has been on the assembly line since 2005. The car is a deep modernization of the early models "Simbir" (1997 - 2002) and UAZ-3160. "Patriot" is the most flagship and expensive model of the Ulyanovsk manufacturer. The machine, in spite of the outdated design, is still being produced. The demand is supported by numerous upgrades. For example, the 2017 Patriot received a completely new front fascia with passenger and driver airbags. Overall, the interior is more modern, but handling and road behavior has not changed much from the 2005 model. In 2017, the Patriot will receive a more powerful engine.

UAZ Patriot owner reviews

With a 2.7 128 hp engine. With.

  • Maxim, Stavropol Territory. My Patriot is in the basic configuration, without any locks and differentials. The machine has a powerful frame structure, equipped with a protective steel sheet under the bottom, and due to this, it is reliably protected from various irregularities. The 2.7 engine consumes an average of 13-15 liters of gasoline per 100 km.
  • Vladimir, Nikolaev. I have the most top-end equipment of the Patriot in the back of 2012. Then the car looked courageous, brutal and more aggressive. Of course, there are breakdowns, where without them. But the car suits me, you just need to call the service on time. Consumption of 15 liters of gasoline / 100 km.
  • Tolik, Yekaterinoslavl. If you need a full-fledged SUV, I advise you to take it. I did just that. I rarely use the car on the highway and in the city, mostly off-road. There Patrick shows himself in all his glory. Consumption 15-17 liters.
  • Anton, Togliatti. The universal machine pleases with its endless possibilities. But you can't drive quickly on the Patriot. This car is adapted purely for off-road, well, unless in the city you can while away half an hour at a speed of no more than 60 km / h. Consumption 14-16 liters / 100 km.
  • Inna, Yaroslavl. I liked the car, I feel protected with it. I have heard about breakdowns, and for 50 thousand km I have never encountered them. I never miss the service station, the consumption is 15 liters.
  • Igor, Krasnodar Territory. I didn't like the car, it often breaks down and does not know how to brake. Now the mileage is 50 thousand km, I'm going to change it to a supported Land Cruise. Now Patrick is gathering dust in the garage, his consumption is from 12 to 15 liters.
  • Alexander, Moscow. As a happy customer, I took my order in February 2017. I chose a version with a black body, a 2.7-liter engine and a manual transmission. There are driver and passenger airbags, air conditioning, a touch screen, a powerful stereo system, a sunroof and other options. I'm happy with the wheelbarrow, a kind of budget-class Land Cruiser. Fuel consumption 15 liters of A95 gasoline.
  • Fedor, Nizhny Novgorod region. Satisfied with the car, a wonderful car for all occasions. With him you can rush wherever your eyes are looking. Equipped with a 2.7-liter engine and works with a gearbox. By the way, the mechanics fully unleash the potential of the engine, and probably for this, Patrick still hasn't got an “automatic”. Gasoline consumption in the city is 14 liters per 100 km.
  • Oleg, Peter. The car costs its money, especially for that kind of money. Eats an average of 15 liters per hundred. The dynamics are decent, but nothing more. In Patrick, comfort and the ability to overcome ravines are much more important.
  • Svetlana, Arkhangelsk. A patriot was given to me by my husband, I thought I could not master this courageous machine. Even the doors of this colossus must be opened with force. Tight pedal assembly, steering wheel is tight too. But at first everything seemed so to me, but after two weeks I got used to it, and now I go, I don’t complain. The car is reliable, I did not even expect it. A car with a 2.7 engine and manual transmission consumes an average of 14-15 liters.
  • Sergey, Krasnoyarsk. I bought myself a Patriot, and I made an informed choice. The car is in operation for 70 thousand km, the flight is normal, I repair it in the service. Kind people, they gave me a good set of tools, so I don't have to rest even on a weekend.
  • Helga, Novosibirsk. I'm happy with the car, Patrick gives me driving pleasure, especially after a long day at work. I liked the car, especially off-road. The car consumes about 15 liters per 100 km.
  • Alexey, Vorkuta. A great car for the harsh Russian conditions. Its advantage lies in the fact that although it breaks down, it is still much cheaper in operation than foreign cars such as Toyota Land Cruiser. All thanks to cheap spare parts. In addition, any part can be found on disassembly. And it doesn't matter that it will still be pouring in, then I will change it again. That's how we live. I have a Patrick with a 2.7 petrol engine, the average petrol consumption is 15 liters per 100 km.
  • Oleg, and Novosibirsk. I liked the car, a very comfortable SUV. On the track behaves with dignity, if you do not exceed the speed. You can ride comfortably at 100 km / h, no more. The car adjusts for a quiet ride, and in general it is more like my passengers - my wife and children. 128 forces the car is enough, especially since it still cannot go fast. Gasoline consumption per hundred - 14-15 liters.
  • Vasily, Sverdlovsk. The advantages of the car are high cross-country ability, a lot of space in the cabin, a giant trunk, there is a full-size spare wheel, large wheels and four-wheel drive. There are a lot of disadvantages, but for that kind of money, you can be silent. In the city, a car consumes 15 liters of gasoline, sometimes even more. I installed HBO and am not complaining. I now have an eco-friendly SUV capable of traversing gullies.
  • Daniel, Perm. A very lively SUV, in the city you can drive fast on it, well, at least keep in the city traffic. Comfortable speed - no more than 100 km / h, and then Patrick begins to scour the highway. The 130-horsepower engine consumes 14 liters.
  • Svetlana, Taganrog. The car impressed me, I did not even expect it to be so reliable. Powerful frame structure, you can drive on a variety of roads, nothing will fall off. Consumption 14 liters with motor 2.7.
  • Taras, Rostov. SUV 2016, bought for the new year. I have the most top-end equipment Limited, with all the options. Quite a modern car with predictable handling. Consumes an average of 13 - 15 liters / 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Tver. UAZ Patriot is a very reliable car, and let them say what they want. And I think 128 forces are quite enough, especially since my car is used mainly off-road. In such conditions, Patrick reveals all his pluses and not a single minus. Consumption 14 liters.
  • Boris, Tambov. I liked the car, but this is my personal opinion. The Patriot is not for everyone, even if you want it. Like, he is all so big and the cheapest, a real rogue. This is certainly good, but these advantages must be used correctly so that Patrick does not completely collapse. The engine costs 2.7 liters, I try to keep within 15 liters in terms of consumption.

With 2.7 135 hp engine. With.

  • Yaroslav, Odessa. Patriot ordered in Rostov, took it and went home. Just run in the car as it should. The car is new, 2017, now I am going through a run-in. I liked the bouncy 135-horsepower engine, the manual gearbox works well. Average consumption of 13 liters.
  • Mityai, Dnepropetrovsk. I bought the car at the end of 2016, just before the new year. So far, I'm happy, 38 thousand run on the odometer. I go and do not complain, in the city everyone is allowed to pass and respected. I keep within 14 liters / 100 km.
  • Igor, Donetsk. I really wanted this car, and for this I followed him to Rostov. The car is standing, you can take it. So far, only advantages, not a single breakdown. This year we had a snowy winter, and Patrick never drowned. Great car, consumption of 15 liters.
  • Ekaterina, Belgorod. I bought myself a Patriot so that I would never get stuck on bad roads, in the snow or on ice. After 50 thousand mileage, nothing broke, the car eats 13 l / 100 km.
  • Alexander, Moscow. I bought an updated UAZ Patriot 2017, with an upgraded 2.7-liter engine. Now it produces 135 horsepower, instead of the former 128. Improvement in dynamics is not felt, but fuel consumption has not changed - the car is still voracious, consuming an average of 15 liters per hundred. Acceleration to a hundred takes 17-18 seconds, but for this money a lot can be forgiven. But as far as I understand, this is the most expensive car in the history of Russia.
  • Dmitry, Tambov. I'm happy with the car, I took the updated 2017 model. I liked the design of the front panel in the cabin. The plastic is pretty tough, like cheap plastic. But it looks decent and modern, besides, in the center there is a large touchscreen display with many functions. The 135-horsepower unit consumes 15 liters / 100 km. But I put HBO and I'm not complaining. Now the mileage is 38 thousand km, the flight is normal, there are no breakdowns.
  • Konstantin, Sverdlovsk. Reliable and comfortable SUV, 49 thousand km on the odometer now. I often drive along the highway, visit many Russian cities - I am engaged in courier delivery throughout the country. I liked the car, for the money I think it's better not to find it. Gasoline consumption maximum 14-15 liters.
  • Olga, Zhitomir. Great car, well worth the money spent. I took the top-end version for over a million. While the Patriot is circling our roads, he is in his element. Eats no more than 15 liters per hundred, in my opinion this is the norm for a car of this level.
  • Vladimir, Penza. At first I thought to take the supported Patrick, but in the end I was advised to take a new one in order to learn all the advantages of this patriotic machine. A 135-horsepower engine consumes 12-15 liters. So far, I'm running in, there are no problems.
  • Vasily, Petrozavodsk. Car of 2017 release, with a motor of 135 forces. The car is generally reliable and is overlooked and respected by everyone. That's what the word Patriot means! Consumption 15-16 liters.

With a 2.3 116 hp engine. With.

  • Ruslan, St. Petersburg. A good car, perhaps the best among the competition. His rivals are mostly Chinese, I mean the cost. UAZ Patriot feels more familiar and predictable or something. There are many spare parts for this machine, and the original parts are relatively inexpensive. Operation of the Patriot brings a lot of surprises, but in any case, the car is much cheaper in service than more reliable foreign cars (the Chinese do not count). My Patriot is equipped with four-wheel drive and a 2.3-liter engine, with a capacity of 116 horses. The engine of stars from the sky is not enough, but the dynamics is enough for the city. Fuel consumption 12-14 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Yekaterinoslavl. Pleased with the car, a wonderful car for every day in the city. The fact is that my brutal all-terrain vehicle is respected and passed on the road, so the dimensions of my car are, in a sense, an advantage. The Patriot itself is not that big - it is only 4.6 meters long, but the giant is about 2000 mm wide. The car suits me, with a 2.3-liter engine, the consumption in the city is 13 liters per hundred.
  • Oleg, Nikolaev. I liked the car, the mileage is now 88 thousand km, the flight is normal. I serve while in service, under warranty. Fuel consumption 13 liters. A very reliable and comfortable wheelbarrow.
  • Ekaterina, Kiev. The car came from my husband, but I asked for it myself. I really wanted an SUV. It took a long time to collect, and then a Patriot turned up to me. The husband just did not mind. The car consumes 13 liters per hundred. In the city, Patrick looks impressive against the backdrop of tiny runabouts.
  • Igor, Nizhny Novgorod region. UAZ Patriot is a real off-road vehicle, I use the car off-road in full, and I do not regret the money spent. If something breaks, wrinkles or cracks, replacing the part will not be a problem - it is relatively inexpensive. Especially those plastic bumpers are the most vulnerable place in the Patriot off-road. The car consumes 13-14 liters / 100 km.
  • Alexander, Penza. I bought a Patriot on the secondary, with 68 thousand km mileage. The car is in good condition, there are some minor defects in the suspension and in the gearbox. I figured it could be repaired for a penny. At least compared to my former Land Cruiser. Kruzak is old, but very expensive. The Patriot is equipped with a 2.3-liter engine and consumes an average of 13 liters per hundred.

With a 2.2 113 hp engine. With.

  • Maxim, Peter. A car for all occasions. It's good that I took the diesel version. It is more economical and more suitable for a full-fledged SUV, such as the UAZ Patriot. Soft suspension with long travels, reliable frame structure, distinct handling. In general, the car is more or less suitable for the city, but due to the large width of the body, it is inconvenient to park. 113 horses are enough to start from traffic lights, and Patrick is doing well in city traffic. Fuel consumption 12 liters per hundred.
  • Rinat, Chechnya. We in Chechnya love such cars - big and with patriotic names. Patriot is a fighting machine for handy guys. The diesel engine is high-torque and powerful, consumes an average of 12-13 liters. The car is still fine, I have my own garage, I am repairing it myself.
  • Andrey, Lipetsk. Such a car is more suitable for rural areas and off-road terrain. In urban conditions, it is cramped, besides, the car is not very modern and consumes a lot of fuel, despite the diesel engine. Average consumption is 12 liters, and this is the minimum.
  • Vladislav, Ufa. The car was bought for off-road operation, for the delivery of goods over difficult terrain. With the right choice, Patrick is ideal for such a job. Moreover, it is diesel, with a good reserve of torque. There is enough traction on the bottoms, besides, you can get under way in second or even third gear. I have a top-end configuration, with all the options. There is a panoramic roof, although I rarely use it. Fuel consumption 13 liters combined.
  • Oleg, Nizhny Novgorod. The car is a delight, especially when driving off-road. It seems that she is not afraid of any obstacles. At the same time, the car is quite comfortable, and has good dynamics for 113 diesel forces. The city consumes 12-13 liters per hundred. Off-road, it turns out no more than 16 liters per hundred.
  • Vitaly, St. Petersburg. Comfortable car, ideal for every day. In terms of dynamics, the car is not inferior to passenger cars - I checked it myself. It's all about a powerful diesel engine, which, with its 113 forces, draws out not with power, but with a good supply of traction. And thanks to this it rides like a light car. Average consumption of only 12 liters in the urban cycle.
