Correct drift. Learning to drift correctly (instruction)

How to learn to drift. Drift itself is a controlled skid, that is, when we intentionally force the car to slide, while controlling this process. The occupation itself is extremely dangerous, it requires a lot of experience and caution. It is necessary to carry out a skid only on a flat, free of any obstacles, automobile site. And also this driving style causes wear and tear on many parts of the car (especially rubber), so you need to be sure that it is in full working order.

A bit of theory

A powerful rear-wheel drive car with a three-liter engine is best suited for drifting))). But, not always we can afford to drift on such thoroughbred cars, therefore, for starters, you can (must) get by with a simple high-revving rear-wheel drive car.

Skid process: when the rear wheels lose firm grip, the desired type of skid occurs. An added benefit is the limited slip differential. It will allow both rear wheels to spin at roughly the same speed, contributing to even more skidding. Many drifters, when they build their cramps-drift car, weld a stock differential, thereby it actually ceases to perform its functions and turns into a simple clutch (they simply block the differential's operation).

How to learn to drift "correctly"? Learning to drift.

Screwing dimes

A good glide training is mastering the pivot pivot technique. Or, as this technique is also called in slang - "winding dimes" or "bagels". After mastering this technique, it is worth moving on to sliding along a trajectory in the form of the number 8, which is called the "eight", respectively. Most of these turns are achieved by turning the engine up at high rpm at first speed and turning the handlebars hard to one side. The best times for training are winter or rainy weather when the contact between tires and asphalt decreases. Over time, moving to asphalt, the experience of winter drifts will be of great benefit in training.

Hand brake

The handbrake is a good learning aid. With the help of it, it is easy enough to make the car start. After that, it is worth removing the handbrake and controlling the skid using the gas pedal and steering wheel. If the rear of the car is tilted, turn the steering wheel towards the skid. Greater rear axle skid is achieved by increasing the speed of the gas pedal. To stop the skid, turn the steering wheel sharply towards the skid and immediately return it to its original position with the front wheels pointing straight. Steering turns should be very fast.

Each beginner takes a different time to master the drifting technique. It all depends on an innate feeling, talent. Someone succeeds in everything easily and almost from the first try, for someone the learning process goes through persistent weeks of training. In any case, the final result will depend on the proper attitude, despite the mistakes at the beginning.

In the previous article, we figured out where and how drift originated, who shaped it as a movement and as a culture, as well as what they drove and continue to ride who cannot imagine their life without movement on the verge of a U-turn. Today we will find out how to do it correctly, what criteria are used to evaluate races in competitions and why, after all, your diesel Volkswagen Passat is not suitable for drifting.

What is drift anyway?

"Drift is a cornering technique and a type of motorsport, characterized by cornering with a deliberate disruption of the rear axle and a controlled skid at the maximum possible speed to maintain a speed angle on the track, requiring the car to have a rear driving axle." This is what Wikipedia says, and we agree with it.

Its English version additionally explains: "The car drifts when the rear wheel slip angle exceeds that of the front wheels, and often so much that the front wheels are directed in the direction opposite to the turn." The definition is quite exhaustive and correct, therefore, we will start from it, speaking about the concept of drift.

Why rear-wheel drive and a powerful motor for drifting?

When I see "nines" with Drift King stickers, I want to cover my face with my hands and run away. If it’s not obvious to you why you can’t drift with front-wheel drive, then I’ll explain. In a skid, when you add gas on a front-wheel drive car, the trajectory of movement straightens (in general, in many respects, they came up with it), and on a rear-wheel drive skid only "aggravates". But that's what we need, isn't it?

It should be added that a rear axle breakdown and a cornering passage in a controlled skid require not only a rear drive, but also continuous rear wheel slip, and this leads us to a 1.2-liter engine with a power of 50-90 hp. is unlikely to provide us with what we want (without pain and suffering, but we don't want sacrifices, right?). Simply because the motor torque has to be powerful enough to overcome the force with which the tires cowardly cling to the asphalt.

How is drifting different from power gliding?

Let's return to our unfortunate diesel Passat, which we presented at the beginning as a car very far from drifting. Everything is simple here. The fact is that since its birth in 1973, it was produced mainly as front-wheel drive, excluding rare special modifications. But, by the way, for power sliding, it could well be suitable.

But what's the difference? The very concept of power sliding is more voluminous than the concept of drift, which, in fact, is one of its types. However, many people call almost any skid a drift, and this is a misconception. Power slip (powerslide, from the English powerslide) occurs when, when cornering, the centrifugal force that displaces the car out of the corner exceeds the traction force of the wheels with the road surface, which leads to skidding of the rear or all four wheels.

In this case, the decisive parameters are not at all the type of drive or engine power, but only the speed of the vehicle and the coefficient of adhesion of the wheels to the surface. Therefore, having dispersed on grandfather's Logan at the entrance to the turn to the dacha (and having survived after that), you cannot boast to everyone the next day how cool you "drifted" yesterday.

In the photo: a car that is not suitable for drifting

The position of the front wheels during power sliding also has little effect, since the handling in it and its outcome depend mainly on the parameters set at the input, such as speed, steering angle and the use / non-use of the "handbrake". Thus, without pretending to be an absolute truth, we will distinguish between the concepts of "drift" and "powerslide" and in the future we will talk exclusively about the first.

Learning to drift correctly

Now, having separated the wheat from the chaff, let's move on to the drifting techniques. In their classification, the encyclopedia that had already helped us earlier was also very successful, therefore, discarding prejudices, we will take the descriptions of the techniques in full, and then consider special cases.

1. Hand braking drift... The technique is the most simple and preferable for drifting training. It allows you to correct mistakes made when the wheels are understeer. To cause a skid, you need to depress the clutch pedal, send the rear axle into a skid with a strong jerk of the handbrake, and then release the clutch pedal. At the same time, it is important to maintain the engine speed with the clutch depressed. The main goal is to learn how to choose the speed and force of the handbrake jerk depending on the situation. It is possible to use a series of jerks correcting the trajectory.

2. Clutch kick... Sharp clutch throw. By quickly squeezing and dropping the clutch pedal while maintaining high engine rpm, a short-term excess of power occurs, which tears the rear axle into a skid.

3. Yorin drift... Slip with a fall of four wheels. Skid braking in a corner, skidding on all four wheels when the machine stalls completely in the middle of a corner.

4. Kanteria / feint drift... Swing, or "whip". Skid, with the help of which S-shaped turns are passed. In this case, skidding to one side is preparation for turning to the other. This technique is also used in rallies.

5. Breaking Drift... In the course of performing this technique, the brake is pressed while entering the turn, then the clutch is squeezed out and the "handbrake" is turned on simultaneously (the "handbrake" cannot be held for more than a second).

6. Dynamic drift... It is carried out by a sharp release of gas at the entrance to a long turn, adjustments by the steering wheel and timely maintenance of the skid by short pressing on the brake without using podgazovki.

7. Power over drift... This type of drift is used on high horsepower cars. To enter a power skid, you need to turn the steering wheel in the direction where you want to direct the car, and press the gas all the way. Due to the high engine power, the rear wheels will lose traction. To get out of the turn without damaging the car, you need to release the gas, but not completely, and turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction.

8. Side braking drift... Side slip. A drift option, when the rear wheels break off and the car slides almost sideways.

9. Chokudori... Typically used after driving through a straight section of road to slow down and make a deep skid. Braking by sliding and setting the car at the right angle relative to the road for the most profitable passage of the corner itself.

10. Manji... Performed on a straight road when the driver rocks the car from one side of the road to the other. Usually used in drifting demonstrations.

As we can see, there are a great many tricks and techniques in drifting, but you should not think that they are used in isolation. Each race is a combination of the above "chips", helping to pass the track in the most effective and efficient way. In general, all of them can be reduced to several basic techniques: a sharp throttle opening, the use of the hand brake, a sharp throttle release to unload the rear wheels and their loss of traction, as well as counter-displacement.

Counter-displacement is generally a very important and effective technique in motorcycle and motorsport. This technique is especially important in rallying, from where it actually came to drift. Its essence is that before the turn, the pilot deliberately makes a slight (or strong, up to the position of the car sideways) displacement of the car to the side opposite to the turn, and then, sharply twisting the steering wheel in the direction of the turn, creates oversteer and causes a skid. In rallies, this technique allows you to take sharp turns faster and more efficiently. In drifting, as you understand, it is used to create a skid, which is then controlled by the racer.

We don't judge who is good at drifting, we just flag mistakes.

Some of the judges in the competition

And a little more history of drift competitions

Now let's get back to our Japanese. By 1988, the "King of Drift" Keiichi Tsuchiya, together with Daijiro Inada, had achieved significant success in popularizing drifting as a type of car competition, and the result was the organization of the first competitions in Japan (and, accordingly, in the world), which became the prototype of the future D1 Grand Prix series ...

Competitions involve rules and refereeing, and the referees were worthy - who, if not Tsuchiya, could rightfully take the referee's chair. The rules were formed at the same time and have undergone little change since then.

At first, the races were single, but after a while the drift competitions came to the "duel" format, when two riders take part in the race at the same time, competing with each other and getting points based on the results of the track. At the same time, the judges evaluate four main parameters: trajectory, angle, speed and entertainment (style). It is behind these four dry words that the whole unrestrained, seething, enchanting element of drift is hidden.

Trajectory- this is the correspondence of the movement of the car to a given line, which is usually determined by the judges before the races.

Injection is, respectively, the angle at which the car moves relative to the trajectory.

Speed- a parameter that does not need to be presented, everything is simple here: you need MORE speed!

well and entertainment and style- this is what all these competitions are held for, tons of tires are washed and kilotons of gasoline are burned. Spectacularity is assessed not only by the judges, but also by the audience, who may disagree with the opinion of the judges and even slightly influence their decision with disapproving hum and exclamations.

Indeed, sometimes the judges are so busy with "debriefing" that their work comes down to what is included in the quotation above - identifying errors. And this is forgivable, because the audience will always remind them that they are not at curling competitions, and the main thing is not centimeters of deviation from the line and degrees of the angle, but the exciting atmosphere of the struggle and puffs of smoke from under the wheels. By the way, an excellent practice in drift competitions is to drive a truck along the track collecting a "crop" of torn off bumpers, lost spoilers and other suddenly dismantled spare parts, without which no self-respecting event can do.

Real drift car

While we're on the subject of parts, it's worth talking a little about what a drift car is all about. This, as we already understood, is a rear-wheel drive car with a powerful engine, as a rule, as lightweight as possible (as far as common sense or the rules of a particular series allows) and prepared for races. The word "prepared" in this case can mean a different degree of "readiness" depending on the budget and the level of the competition, but fine-tuning the car is usually very voluminous and serious.

One of the foundations of a drift car is ... no, not the engine, but the rear differential. It is he who ensures the slipping of two rear wheels at the same time, without which it is impossible to achieve either a long-term controlled drift, or success in competitions. Typically, a differential with increased internal resistance is used (it is also called LSD, from the English "limited-slip differential"), which allows you to slightly vary the slip of the wheels, but does not allow one of them to "mess around". In simplified cases, a forced mechanical differential lock is used, which forces both wheels of the rear axle to rotate synchronously, at the same speed. In especially simplified cases, the differential is banally welded, thereby eliminating its functions almost completely, but achieving the much-desired synchronous rotation of both rear wheels.

Let's move on from the differential to the engine. The engine of a drift car has to withstand high loads while working as long as possible, as it does not change after each competition, as it can in professional racing with huge budgets. Based on this, preference is usually given to volumetric engines, since they allow you to get more power with a longer resource, and also deliver it in a wide range of revolutions, which is extremely important for maintaining controlled drift at different speeds. Engines are often, with the main task remaining to "smear" their maximum performance across all rpm, making the torque graph as smooth as possible.

The gearbox also depends on the budget and rules of a particular competition series. It can be either stock or sporty, and since gear shifting should not take a lot of time from the pilot, the use of sequential gearboxes is quite justified.

The suspension is generally lowered to improve the vehicle's cornering stability. Shock absorbers and springs are firmly installed to avoid wobble and roll, which will negatively affect handling. The steering is often tweaked to increase the steering angle. Yes, yes, this is the same "eversion" that sometimes reaches 90 degrees or more and which they boast of no less than the engine size. Also, for better control of the car with the wheels turned out, the camber of the front wheels is made negative, putting the wheels in a "house".

In general, all of the above modifications make it possible to create an approximate image of a car that can successfully "roll sideways". Of course, there are other ways to radically improve speed and handling, such as yellow paint and branded decals, but we'll cover those in our next article on drifting in popular culture and everyday life.

Skis, skates, tubing cheesecakes ... There are many Muscovites who find these winter funs too bland. Another thing is the class of extreme driving in the snow on a car! There are more and more fans of drift - this is the name of the technique of cornering with the use of a controlled skid, which has become an independent type of motorsport - in the capital. Here are just athletes for such activities go to the circuit, and reckless drivers, regardless of the danger to all road users, demonstrate their tricks on ordinary roads and parking lots, which the utilities simply have not yet had time to clean. Meanwhile, in Moscow and the Moscow region there are many places where you can slip in a car without breaking the law. The correspondents of "RG" were convinced of this, having tried to master the figures of aerobatics on the ice.

Out of the law or out of the law?

Many residents of the capital have not yet forgotten the mysterious masked racer, who, under the speaking nickname Taste of Death, posted posts with his daring tricks on social networks. Once the reckless driver even performed a drift around the traffic police crew. True, he soon lost his rights for six months. And literally this week, two drifters from Tyumen were fined for a circus that they staged on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, skidding around the New Year tree.

True, reckless drivers are punished not for drifting, but for violations on the road. In particular, the Taste of Death was accompanied by numerous exits into the oncoming lane, and Siberians drove with might and main through the pedestrian zone. The fact is that in the new paragraph of the Road Traffic Regulations on dangerous driving, introduced in 2016, there is not a word about a controlled skid into which the driver deliberately throws his car. "Currently, the legislation does not provide for responsibility for the so-called drift, since the very concept of drift is absent in the RF SDA," the press service of the Moscow Region State Traffic Safety Inspectorate told RG, noting that statistics on accidents involving drifters are not kept. There is no it in Moscow either, although inspectors pay attention to the activity of reckless drivers in the network, where records of dangerous "exploits" appear on a regular basis. "In order to combat deliberate traffic violations, video information about which is posted on various services of the Internet network, a round-the-clock duty of an employee is organized in the management of the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate, who monitors such video recordings in real time," the chapter explained.

And since there is no official ban, it means that you can formally drift on public roads. Moreover, for any claim, it is enough to say: the car was carried away on a slippery road ... But then you should not be surprised to get into the news feeds. And it's also good if the headlines don't start with the words "killed" or "seriously injured."

Everyone at the circuit

To send the car into a skid, it is enough to turn the steering wheel and press the gas properly. Drift control is more difficult - it takes experience. Photo: Sergey Mikheev

The best thing to do is drift without endangering anyone. “Come to a specialized circuit for emergency training schools, where you can be sure that there will be no unauthorized cars or pedestrians on the site,” Farid Aindinov, executive director of the Center for Superior Driving Skills, explained to RG. Under the supervision of an instructor, you can not only ride the skid, but also learn how to do it correctly.

You can learn how to drift at a special circuit. If anything, the instructor is always there

Well, we are going to the highway to Dzerzhinsky, where the classes are held. Next to me, the instructors decide to put Irina, a venerable drifter, in a Subaru with four-wheel drive, who has kindly agreed to take part in the experiment. To, so to speak, see the difference between a pro and a beginner.

Drift tracks are never treated with reagents. After all, you need to slide on ice or snow. Photo: www.instagram.com/wdls.ru

The first exercise is a circle. The task is to slide it along the outer radius in a continuous drift. Ira is a self-taught person with extensive drifting experience. But the race at the circuit is also a novelty for her. And now the Subaru is already spinning in circles. It didn't work out right away to direct the car along the desired trajectory, but with each new attempt the drift got better. Largely thanks to the instructor's tips on the walkie-talkie: "More throttle, the steering wheel is straighter." As a result, after a few minutes Ira, like a compass, drew a circle in a beautifully adjusted drift.

My time has come to show what I am capable of. I drive up to the circle and give full throttle, turning the steering wheel to the side. My "golf" led slightly, but it was difficult to call it a drift. A few more unsuccessful attempts ... "There is no way on the front drive - either on the rear or on the full one you need to try," the coach explained. Irina gives me a ride in her Subaru. Within a couple of minutes I was able to drive half a circle in a skid. Excitement overwhelms in earnest. At some point, I clearly overdo it with speed, and the car is carried away into a snowdrift. The blow fell on the right side. Fortunately, there was no damage, loose snow softened the blow. Nevertheless, my drift ended there. But Ira still went through the "snake". This exercise is done in ordinary driving schools. But only here it is necessary to maintain the skid from cone to cone. She also coped with this task.

The experiment has shown that experience is very important, which helps the motorist to orientate himself faster on the ice. But the instructor can quickly teach a beginner to drift - the main thing is to listen carefully to the commands and not give vent to emotions.

Life sideways

So, the main rule of the drifter, handed down by the correspondent of "RG": slide only on a special circuit. Drifting on normal roads should be taboo. Even on an empty road, a pedestrian can jump out from somewhere at any moment. Rule two: always be prepared for unplanned expenses. “If the minimum safety rules are observed, this hobby is quite costly: tires, a broken chassis, an overheated engine are the lesser of evils,” says Irina, summing up the results of our joint lesson.

Let's consider the physical side of the phenomenon. The higher the axle load, the higher the grip of the tires. Correspondingly, cornering braking loading the front axle causes the vehicle to “turn more aggressively”. Thus, the first phase of skidding is braking with the front wheels to create significant centrifugal acceleration. Braking should not cause the front wheels to lose traction. During this phase, the rear wheels have very little grip, and any impulse that disrupts this grip will cause a skid, which will be greater the greater the centrifugal acceleration in a corner.

There are various ways to break the traction of the rear wheels. Many drifting enthusiasts use a handbrake for this purpose. This method is widely used in autocross to overcome relatively low speed corners and for turns. For the novice drifter, this is the best way to get the car into a skid without high speeds.

A more difficult way is to enter a skid at speed under the influence of the deflecting moment of centrifugal force. In this case, the rear wheels break into a skid under the action of centrifugal force when cornering - if the driver has correctly distributed the load on the axles. This method is used in rally races, when the driver drives the car into a turn at high speed so that, with the help of a skid, give it a direction to exit the turn. Very often the car starts to slip sideways even before entering a turn. And sometimes the car starts to "tuck" in the opposite direction, and only then the sharp entrance to the turn begins. This is done in order to obtain a larger skid angle. In this case, the steering wheel is shifted from side to side in order to break the grip of the rear wheels with the road. This method requires high speeds and high control accuracy, since the driver must adjust the steering angles and axle load distribution at a very fast pace. At the same time, the greater the coefficient of adhesion of the road surface to the rubber of the tires, the more sudden and abrupt reactions of the car will be at high speeds. In addition, in a skid on a rough surface, the car quickly loses speed, not to mention tire wear. This is the reason that large skid angles are not used in road racing, and generally in any asphalt racing. However, redistribution of loads and skidding always remain effective tools for driving a car, allowing it to fully unleash its potential.

Let's talk about the technique:

Heel toe shifting

Driving while skidding.

1.Before entering a turn, you must brake in order to load the front axle. Next, engage a downshift using the double squeeze technique (see point 2). After that, turn the steering wheel (all the way). For the drift to be controlled, it is necessary to maintain the thrust vector.

2. Squeeze out the clutch, transfer the box to the neutral position, release the clutch. Next (attention!), Transfer the heel of your right foot to the accelerator pedal ("overglowing" will synchronize the speed of rotation of the engine and transmission), the toe remains on the brake pedal. If you do not equalize the engine and transmission speed, then the engine speed will be too low, this will cause jerking of the drive, which means it will break the traction of the driving wheels.

3. After equalizing the revolutions, press the clutch again and engage a downshift. Double release is optional, but desirable as it reduces transmission wear. If downshifting does not provide the desired skid, use the handbrake.

4. Release the clutch, take your foot off the brake pedal, and press the accelerator pedal. It is necessary to hold the accelerator pedal in order for the car to continue sliding. Sometimes it is necessary to steer to avoid stalling into uncontrolled rotation.

Power over drift

This technique is intended for high-powered vehicles and involves fully depressing the accelerator pedal when entering a corner.

2. Turn the wheels out to the stop, then - full throttle, this will break the adhesion of the wheels to the road. The steering angle and excess rpm will cause the vehicle to skid.

3. If the rear of the car is skidded more than the trajectory requires, you must immediately turn the steering wheel in the direction of travel. Then the car will go in the direction of the front wheels. In this case, it is necessary to maintain the engine speed, since in a state of such a skid, pressing the brake pedal or dumping the gas can lead to uncontrolled rotation or flight off the track.

4. In order to complete the cross slip and straighten the car, you must smoothly release the throttle.

E-Brake Drift

This is a very simple technique: the handbrake is used to break off the rear wheels, slip can be controlled by steering and operating the gas pedal. This technique can be used as an aid to correct the trajectory. For vehicles with all-wheel drive, it is the main one.

1. It is necessary to enter a turn at high speed (such that a skid remains the only way to keep the car on the track).

3. Turn the wheels to the extreme position. By the time the downshift is engaged and the wheels are brought to their extreme position, the car must be at a point called the apex (geometric center of the corner).

4. Briskly pull up the parking brake handle while holding down the button located on the handle. Release the parking brake immediately (hold the parking brake for no more than one second). If the driving wheels are rear, then at the moment of tightening the hand brake, it is necessary to squeeze the clutch; in a four-wheel drive vehicle, when applying the parking brake, it is necessary to maintain the engine speed.

Clutch kick drift

Skidding is carried out due to the clutch: it must be squeezed out at the stage when the car is approaching a turn or at the very beginning of sliding, then the clutch must be dropped sharply, this will provide a jerk of the drive, which will break the grip of the rear wheels.

1. It is necessary to enter a turn at high speed (such that a skid remains the only way to keep the car on the track.)

2. Bring the wheels to the extreme position, while maintaining the speed.

3. As soon as the grip of the front wheels with the road is broken, or just before this happens, depress the clutch pedal without dropping the speed.

4. After these actions, the engine speed will increase sharply. As soon as this happens, the clutch pedal should be dropped, this will cause the rear wheels to stall.

5. If the rear of the car is skidded more than the trajectory requires, you must immediately turn the steering wheel in the direction of travel. Then the car will go in the direction of the front wheels. In this case, it is necessary to maintain the engine speed. This is necessary because in a state of such a skid, pressing the brake pedal or releasing the gas can lead to uncontrolled rotation or flight off the track.

6. In order to complete the cross slip and straighten the car, you must smoothly release the throttle.

Shift Lock Drift

The technique involves engaging a low gear (in order to raise the engine speed), followed by a squeeze and a sharp clutch release, designed to slow the rear wheels by increasing the load on the transmission. In order not to damage the drive, this technique is best used on wet surfaces.

1. It is necessary to enter a turn at high speed (such that a skid remains the only way to keep the car on the track).

2. Quickly engage a downshift (most likely second), without using the double squeeze technique.

3. Due to the rapid engagement of the downshift, the load on the drive will increase sharply, and the engine speed will also increase.

4. After shifting, you should add more revolutions in order to overcome the adhesion of the wheels to the road, therefore, to start the car into a skid.

Dirt Drop Drift

The driver, while driving the car, provokes the rear wheel to leave the track, so that it gets into the mud (which is a coating with a low adhesion coefficient), which allows you to set the trajectory of the car without losing speed, and prepare for the next turn.

1. Enter the turn at medium speed.

2. Then turn the wheels, keeping the engine speed, meanwhile, move slightly off the track to the side of the road, on the side that is closer to the outer turning radius (example: when turning left, the right wheels should be on the side of the road)

3. As soon as the rear wheel leaves the road on a slippery surface, traction will be impaired. The engine speed should be maintained.

Feint drift

1. Approaching the turn, turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction to the turn (eg, if you have to enter the left turn, turn the steering wheel to the right). The distance chosen for these preliminary actions should be based on the speed at which the vehicle is moving. Turning the car in the opposite direction will allow loading one side of the car and unloading the other (e.g. turning the wheels to the right before turning left will unload the right side). When unclenching, the springs on the side on which the load fell will throw the car in the direction of the bend. All actions should be fluid, and not necessarily very fast. Changing the direction of the wheels too quickly reduces the load on the front suspension, there is a danger of the front wheels breaking off.

2. The steering wheel should be turned out at the moment when the weight will be transferred to one side.

3. As soon as the car changes direction, you need to increase the speed. The rotational force combined with the excess RPM will provide the vehicle with lateral glide. In four-wheel drive vehicles, the handbrake can be used instead of revving up.

5. In order to complete the cross slip and straighten the car, you must smoothly release the throttle.

Jump Drift

This technique involves using bumps in the road to stall the rear wheels. Inside the corner or at the apex point, the rear inner wheel bounces on a bump, the car becomes skidded.

1. Enter the corner at medium speed.

2. Unscrew the wheels while holding the revolutions. Drive the rear wheel, which will be inside the turn, onto a low bump.

3. At the moment when the wheel bounces on a bump, it is necessary to maintain the engine speed. When the wheel jumps onto the road, the speed of rotation will be greater than that at which the grip with the road remains strong, therefore, the grip of the wheels with the surface will be broken. You need to maintain the engine speed when the car starts to skid.

5. In order to complete the cross slip and straighten the car, you must smoothly release the throttle.

Braking drift

Wheel grip is broken by skid braking. By blocking the wheels, it will break the grip of the wheels and send the car into a skid, which can be controlled by steering and adjusting the engine speed. The technique is suitable for taking tight turns.

1. It is necessary to enter the turn at high speed (so that the skid remains the only way to keep the car on the track).

2. Using the toe-to-heel technique, engage a downshift (most likely second), this will provide the rpm that can keep the car on the trajectory while sliding.

3. The wheels are turned to the extreme position. By the time the downshift is engaged and the wheels are brought to their extreme position, the car should be at a point called the apex (geometric center of the corner.

4. Increase the engine speed by pressing the accelerator pedal a lot, but the speed should be constantly adjusted to maintain the skid.

Kansei drift

The time has come. The capital was once again covered with snow, and before it melted, under cover of night, adherents of the "Combat Classics" - young fans of winter drift in classic "Zhiguli", rolled out onto the empty parking lots of shopping centers. This youth movement is gaining popularity throughout the country - from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. The eponymous public has almost 400 thousand people. she studied how rusty VAZs attract young people and what the products of the Soviet automobile industry are capable of under the control of daring Zhigulists.

"Batina gigue knocks sideways"

Weekday evening. Gas station on Shipilovsky proezd. At the first column there is a blue VAZ "seven" with a "Combat Classics" sticker on the rear window. There are two guys 18-20 years old.

With new snow, boys! - it finally snowed in the city and a light frost set in, promising rear-wheel drive Lada the best conditions for drifting.
- A? Yes thank you.
- Where are the guys going today?

The guys are looking closely. Questions are asked by a man who drove up in an old "shed" Volkswagen Passat. The dude is clearly not in the subject.

Which? Where to?
- Well, "roll sideways", "bludgeon", "give a corner" (all these expressions mean a controlled drift - hereinafter approx. "Lenta.ru"), - the man pours slang on the young drifters and is ready to "ask" the boys about the sticker on the glass if they continue to blunt.
- Go to Tsarki, there are people now, - the guy grabs the sports steering wheel with one hand, the second cuts in speed and his Zhiga (Zhiguli) roared, but without much acceleration, drove to the exit from the gas station.

Tsarki is Tsaritsyno. District in the south of Moscow. There are a lot of nooks and crannies and playgrounds, but the most attractive is the parking lot opposite the entrance to the park. It is far from residential buildings - there is no one to complain about the noise.

The movement is in full swing there. There is a free space at the edge of the parking lot in the dense lane of cars. Now you can look around.

There are no "outside" cars on the big site. In the center, in a circle, stands the heels of the cars of the fiercest drifters. They smoke, laugh, poke around under the hoods and take turns approaching the biggest guy in a bright orange jacket. Looks like he's in charge here.

Around this circle, cars rush one after another, grinding ice and asphalt. The snow from here all disappeared somewhere. There is none at all on the asphalt, only a light layer of white dust on the side of the road.

There are about 40 cars with spectators. People are warming themselves in the saloons, music is heard from the open windows. Mostly young people and students on the same VAZs, but there are also older people on expensive foreign cars. Some Caucasian bragging about a brand new Mercedes with the number 999 and a pretty girl in the passenger seat. Every now and then he dives off, makes a sharp turn and parks again.

Red cigarette lights flicker in the tinted front windows of the Audi Q7. And also a Volvo crossover, several BMWs of the third and fifth series.

Someone leaves the parking lot, someone arrives. Connoisseurs use the second entrance, off the beaten track.

Winter drift on a combat classic

With a few exceptions, only “tazy”, that is, VAZ cars of “classic” (from the first to the seventh) models, drift. But everything is very different, depending on the skill of the driver and the preparation of the car.

Stock (without tuning) classic awkwardly waddles sideways when cornering, and then slowly accelerates on straight lines.

Some kind of "four", chock-full of thumping boys, only rolls in a circle with barely noticeable drifts. She clearly has no differential welded on (locked), so she can't drift properly. This is still too new and level apparatus to be called "combat".

Prepared VAZs move much faster, more aggressive and spectacular. Understated, on unwelding (widened rims), with bored engines and, of course, with lengthened levers that allow the wheels to be turned at a large angle - such cars are proudly called "cramps".

Cramps are able to drift and shift in a straight line, moving in almost constant skid even on dry asphalt. And these have more dents than rust.

Against their background, even a middle-aged BMW "treshka" looks pale. She also polishes well in a straight line and gives angles when cornering, but the driver cannot torment her for a long time. And the audience sympathizes with him - repairs, as they say, will cost a pretty penny.

The audience was amused a lot by some cunning guy on a Kia car-sharing. Obviously not caring about the consequences, he several times managed to send her into a skid. Then he took his place among the spectators.

At some point, what is happening in the parking lot begins to resemble the well-known children's attraction "autodrome". Several "fireballs" rush back and forth in a chaotic manner without any sense, and young drivers are clearly not afraid to crash into each other. Periodically, one after the other, the "paid time" ends: the team rolls the stalled car to the side, starts "from the pusher", and the gig returns to a crazy round dance.

Can I get behind the wheel? - I appeal to the driver of the broken-down "six". The kid looks about 15 years old. - And you and the guys can move over to me and warm up.
- Thanks. Our standard stove is working!

The thresholds of the wheelbarrow are rotten through and through, and it seems as if the wind is blowing right through it. But on the trunk lid there is a "duck's tail" (a cheap version of the wing), one headlight is glued crosswise with black electrical tape, and the windows that are free from tinting are decorated with stickers: "Combat classic", #Style, #navsebabki, #Yaboric and so on.

Happy new year everyone, this dance is for you 😇😌 # standing on the roof # smoking # combat classics # bksurgut

So you're not cold?
- Sit down and check, just don't turn off the engine.

At the wheel of the gig the feeling of the attraction is enhanced. You feel like in a model that is made in a 1: 2 scale. The windshield rests right in the face, small pedals with a short stroke, a round sports steering wheel similar to those found on arcade machines. But the motor and the stove are working. This basin generates heat.

I can't drift. Will you show it?
- You accelerate, you turn on the handbrake, you turn the steering wheel. In order not to turn it around, turn the steering wheel towards the skid.

The kid who was driving moved to the right seat. He is definitely not 18 years old, which means - and a driver's license. There are two more sitting in the back: a girl and a guy.

Do not listen, he himself still does not know how, - they shout from there.
- I can, but practice is not enough. We must wait until the snow falls more, and then anyone will be able to cut.

The guy removes the JBL wireless speaker from the dashboard - it replaces the car audio system here and makes the music quieter: “Heifers are flowing with brine from the firing, I’m burning rubber. Yes - I'm cool ", - the words from the song "Batina Zhiga" by I.G.L. Almost a hymn to the movement.

The guy nods in response to a question about his rights, but claims that in this car, which "one uncle gave him," he drives out only at night and only when it can be started.

“And I put a shesnar (16-valve engine from VAZ-2112) and roll crumbs in it. Gigue now crumbles everyone at the start ... "- the song continues.

The guy's engine and other underhood "stuffing" is still in stock, but he has already managed to get the springs from the "Niva". Is free. It remains only to cut and set. The kid is generally lucky: he is friends with a girl who is dating an 18-year-old guy. He has a driver's license, and he sometimes agrees to get behind the wheel when you need to leave the courtyards on the street or drive along the highway.

I don't care about "Combat Classics". It's just some kind of joke. I want a Camry (Toyota model). But my girlfriend likes to hang out with tazovodami, and I love her, - says the "elder", embracing the girl in the back seat, satisfied with such a confession.

The guy in the party is almost a superhero, because, in addition to the driver's crust, the iPhone and the girl, he alone in this company has the opportunity to legally buy alcohol and cigarettes.

“Batina gigue knocks sideways, knocks down in the yard and in a dense stream. The wipers only remained in stock ", - it finally came to the chorus ...

For a couple of hours, the district has been deafened by the roar, whistle, creak and other accompanying sounds of the autodrome, but still not. Previously, at such shows, they still liked to burn the most broken-down car. Now, too, could be, but a suitable wheelbarrow was not found - everything is on the move.

We ride on our own, we don't belong to Tsaritsyno racing, - says the same manager in an orange jacket. - The guys are all local. Free admission. Stop by and dub. Only without the frills and grudges for the rumpled wheelbarrow.

According to him, last year the policemen regularly blocked the site, but now they seem to have hammered into it. The guys also went to the site in Vidnoe, near the Sports Palace. There, too, it is far from residential buildings, and no one seemed to complain, but then speed bumps were put in.

Kirill Valerianov, a resident of Orekhovo-Borisovo, in his prepared "five", became the king of drifting that night. This lowered car has an engine and clipped springs from the Niva, as well as a turbine, turboclub levers and a hydraulic handbrake (reinforced handbrake). Only buckets (chairs) are still stock.

When Kirill rides on his writhing along the track, it seems that this is a broadcast of professional competitions. RDS(Russian Drift Series - Russian Drift Series).

They dug out the summer) # Saratov # classic # combat classic # Lada # vaz2107 # my car # knee socks #skatersocks @skatersocksrussia

I have been racing for only a year, and so far I have no money to participate in legal competitions. Maybe someone will donate? - he says, smoking. No garage. The drifter stores and maintains a wheelbarrow right in the yard of the house. - Friends who have garages and tools helped with the replacement of the engine and other laborious work.

In "Combat Classics", according to him, it is so customary: to work on machines together, to throw spare parts to each other.

Cyril connected his advantage over his colleagues at the gathering today with the fact that his car was prepared for the summer drift. The rest expected more from the weather, more precisely, from the bad weather.

A person with a weak vestibular apparatus will not like a ride with such racers. It is not without reason that in songs about jigs (and there are many of them) the talent to roll a girl to vomit is akin to the ability to overtake a major in a cool car.

By the way, as experts say, the young lady in the salon is an important attribute that distinguishes a true adherent of "Combat classics" from a loshara on a rusty burner, because these are still the first guys in the area: handsome men, athletes and fighters. So Cyril was supported by a pretty companion throughout the entire performance, squeezing into the passenger seat.

The most spectacular moments of such rides are paired races, when two jigs go one after another, drifting side by side.

Kirill was lucky. A worthy opponent entered the site. At some point during a synchronized race, two Zhiguli almost stuck to each other in a skid. The collision, however, did not happen. The drivers put the cars in different directions in time, stopped and joyfully yelled obscenities at the whole district.

Punks, hoi!

"Zhiguli always" was the name of the exhibition organized by the community "Combat classics" in "VKontakte".

The event took place in the capital's Sokolniki on one of the weekends in November and became one of the first legal gatherings of fashionable Zhigulists.

The ticket cost 350 rubles, and there was a queue at the entrance! “They were afraid that they wouldn’t visit the audience, as everyone usually wants to ride a Zhiguli, and not stand near them,” said Edik Hovhannisyan, administrator of the Combat Classics group. - Everyone liked everything, there were a lot of prizes. For the price of an admission ticket, many have typed stickers. "

The movement, according to Edik, did not arise from scratch. “There was a public with a thousand subscribers, approximately. Not on the "Zhiguli" topic. It did not develop in any way, and they decided to sell it. My friend bought it and began to actively engage in it. It was 2012, ”he explained.

At that time, there was already a party at the All-Russian Exhibition Center (drift in the VDNKh area). “They rode, posted photos, videos with a drift in Zhiguli and all sorts of jokes, the audience really liked it.”

People in many regions of the country began to arrange and record their drift rides. This was done as a joke and a parody of the pretentious street racing of golden youth, so the most accessible and widespread auto junk in Russia was taken as a basis - the classic Zhiguli. Over time, the spectacular parody has evolved into a self-contained automotive culture known by the Combat Classics brand and the logo designed by the group's designer.

Judging by the exhibits presented at the exhibition in Sokolniki, Combat Classics brings together not only fans of drifting writhing and car parks, but also representatives of new club trends associated with restoration (resto) and artificial aging of cars with rust (rat look).

“My 2101 is our family heirloom,” says one of the exhibitors, Roman from Voronezh. - It was bought by my grandfather in 1990. And a few years ago he gave it to me, he said that it would not be possible to restore it. But it all worked out. "

Roman cannot be called a classic restorer. His penny is "understated" almost to the limit. A huge hatch has been cut into the roof, the stock steering wheel has been replaced with a sporty, lacquered wood trim.

This guy is not a supporter of fashionable air suspensions that allow you to raise and lower the car when necessary. His car sparks with the bottom on an uneven road - and this is another of its tricks.

At the auto show, beautiful girls willingly posed near some Zhiguli cars. They like this hobby of the guys. These girls value the self-irony of “mother's drifters” more than the bombast and pathos of the owners of expensive sports cars.

“In the context of modern crap and daily knocking from the bottom, it's nice to see guys who know how to enjoy what is available without getting into loans for show-off, which is not typical for Russians and requires special courage,” said one of the young ladies who sympathize with Zhigulists.

She likes the desire of these guys to make "a holiday out of the thing that everyone spits on," and their ability to understand "these glands" with their brains and hands.

Tazoprom goes to the East

Among the exhibitors were representatives of auto-tuning companies interested in the rapid development of "Combat Classics".

“This is a fashionable phenomenon,” says Pavel Danilyuk, an employee of one of these firms. - Our company has Vladivostok roots, and even there the guys face a tough choice: to spend from 200 to 400 thousand on some kind of "sky" (Nissan Skyline), and they are afraid to hit him, or to assemble a combat vehicle from VAZ for 200 thousand, which then at least on concrete dolby. There is not even an alternative for winter drift, cross and ring. "

"Combat classics", according to Pavel, is gradually replacing JDM-culture - a fascination with Japanese cars sold on the domestic market of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Danilyuk has been working in the field of auto tuning for 10 years. “Until recently, we did not deal with the domestic auto industry,” he notes. - We sell tuning parts for cans for only a few months. The demand is growing, nothing stays in the warehouse ”.

“The classics of crowns and brands (Toyota Crown and Toyota Mark) are becoming a thing of the past. After customs clearance, these cars now cost a lot of money. In addition, when buying a Japanese car "swap" (revision, replacement of the engine - approx. "Lenta.ru") you will have to make from fresh units and parts. And this is all expensive. In the case of VAZ, engines from newer models are inexpensive and their quality is gradually increasing. "

In the Zhiguli body, according to him, you can, if you wish, stick the engine and the entire suspension from BMW, the indestructible engine from Toyota.

“We had one of the best cars at this exhibition,” continues Pavel. - Its capacity is 500 horsepower. At the same time, the car costs some 500-700 thousand rubles (based on the old and new prices for spare parts). It is with a professional fire extinguishing system, brakes and so on. The suspension is completely all from BMW, a good engine and a new turbine. "

Such a car is no longer used for driving, but for serious drag races (straight races). “Nobody drives it around the city, of course,” says Pavel. “She is brought to an exhibition or competition by sliding tackle.”

According to Danilyuk, the plant in Togliatti did not miss the new trend in tuning VAZs and, not paying attention to the ironic attitude of the guys of "Combat Classics" to their cars, is making the same differential locks that young drifters cannot do without. Other domestic firms have established the production of plastic products.

A separate story with levers that allow the front wheels to be turned almost 90 degrees, and, consequently, to increase the maximum angle of controlled drift, and weld-ons - they are made in small workshops.

“We still do not know how to make silicone pipes and all-aluminum radiators, - added Pavel. “We bring them from China, where everyone is doing this according to our project.”

Mad Max and the "spear" of fate

Garages on the outskirts of Brateevo. Near one of the iron boxes there is a green "kopeck" VAZ. Its owner, Maksim Makhankov, is a kind young big man. This year he graduated from vocational school and now works in tire fitting. And Max is also one of the "old men" of the "Combat Classics" movement.

“I had to learn to ride. I was looking for a Zhigulchik of thousands for 15 rubles, - says Maxim. - My father's friend was preparing his "kopeck" [VAZ-2101] for racing. He brewed everything, wanted to put the "shesnar" on it. Then something didn't work out, and he decided to sell it. "

Having bought a Zhiguli, the guy drove it around the courtyards. He had no rights yet. “It’s now some kind of fashion, or something, went - without a license to drive on the roads, I was honestly afraid,” he recalls.

Gradually, the guy's interest in gigs began to grow. He began to collect them like toys - cars that have already turned into lifeless yard decorations. For three years, 15 of these machines have been in his hands!

“For a while I had eight wheelbarrows at once. The whole yard made them ", - Max smiles. His father did not interfere with his hobby.

Photo: from the personal archive of Maxim Makhankov

This Brateevsky craftsman tuned each car in his own way. Fortunately, my father works in a car service and is always ready to help with advice, let him go to the lift. The lively jigs were resold to other guys getting into the movement. After all, not all fans of "Combat classics" have the opportunity to independently restore a car. But it was not possible to make money on this, since the value of his investments sometimes exceeded the selling price of the car.

“I had a six. Welded differential, levers, hydraulic handlebar, - he gave an example. With this car, by the way, Max became the coolest drifter in the area. “I sold it to a friend and he broke it in six hours. I bought it from my grandfather and invested 50 thousand more in it. She was generally like new. Drifting on dry, wet and snow. And then money was urgently required. And he sold it for a month to a friend for 30 thousand. It was a pity, of course, ”.

On the other hand, at least two of Max's cars became the first, as he says, "fighting jigs" in two districts of the capital - Brateevo and Tsaritsyno. Looking at them, local guys were inspired to create their masterpieces.

Many cars were made for fun (having fun with friends).

“I once made a four in the bosozoku style (Japanese tuning style, when the car is decorated with long exhaust pipes directed towards the sky), - says Max. "I took a plastic plumbing pipe, pasted it over with a gold film for 100 rubles, stuck the #Yabogaty sticker, and went for a drive ... At a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, this garbage caught fire and fell off, but it was funny."

But he saves his first "kopeck" for himself and his beloved girl, whom she especially likes. And under the pressure of warm feelings, this VAZ gradually turned from a "black bandit" into a cute green resto-style car: understated and decorated, as expected, with a Soviet suitcase on the upper trunk and a rose on the gear knob.

“At the dacha I found a penny the same smashed to the side. And the owner allowed me to take whatever I wanted from her, since he was going to send her to the dump, ”the guy says.

Max even put the original wheels with disks from the "penny": exchanged for his unwelding. “I bought the seats for 2000 rubles, in perfect condition,” he added.

True, the elements of trample tuning were nevertheless worn into the overall picture - in some places, instead of chrome, foil was fitted. And the carburetor - the second heart of the car - the guy received as a gift from his future mother-in-law (removed from her "seven").

Max's garage is full of spare parts and items reminiscent of his passion for fighting jigs. Here, by the way, lies that plastic "bosozoku pipe".

They are not catching up with us

When meetings of fans to drift on "Zhiguli" - gatherings - took place in the backyards of the city and the guys themselves were few, then this movement did not particularly bother anyone.

“If on someone's complaint the cops came, we quietly and peacefully gathered, moved to another place and hung out there,” recalls Max. - But then big events began to take place, such as the birthday of "Tsaritsyno racing". Some drunken inadequacies began to come there, who began to berate the police. Instead, they blocked the exits from the parking lot and organized general checks on everyone who left there. "

Also, the authorities gradually closed the get-together near the entrance to the All-Russian Exhibition Center. “Everything is clear here. This is the face of not only the city, but also the country. Intourists come, and here the guys are swaggering on rusty basins, ”says the Brateevsky drifter.

Perhaps the most scandalous was the meeting organized by the "Combat Classics" community on the Khodynskoye field on April 15, 2016 on the occasion of overcoming the mark of 200 thousand subscribers - "200k Zhiguli".

According to eyewitnesses, due to the abundance of drunken "leftist" public, the peaceful get-together turned into a hellish orgy that surprised and frightened the police.

But even more were burned by journalists, who called it all an illegal rally of a gang of street racers and riots paid for with Davidich. For this, the "Combat Classics" movement is still in great resentment against the media. “After that gathering, some of our guys were searched. Laptops were confiscated from them. Then, it is true, they returned everything, but the signal was clear, ”notes Edo Hovhannisyan.

The next event - "300k Zhiguli" - the community has already held away from prying eyes, at the NAMI training ground near Dmitrov. About 10 thousand people got there. “It turned out to be a cool festival without scandals, people shot a bunch of videos and photos. It's all on the internet, ”Edo said.

Now "Combat Classics" plans to organize legal winter drift competitions.

Driftomania

“I have an acquaintance whose car looks just awful,” says the administrator of the “Combat Classics” public. - Everyone knows her by the nickname Arekhova. He has been driving it for several years, and his skill is unrealistic. Great respect to him! And someone has a turbocharged shesnar, and he does not know what to do with it, and does not know how to ride sideways. This option is not held in high esteem. "

A "beginner drifter's dictionary" is circulating on the Internet, in which Denis Trusov, nicknamed Marcel, is indicated as the father of drifting in Russia.

“There are two drift capitals in Russia: Moscow and Vladivostok. And in the gold-domed, the first person who began to popularize this business was me, but not alone, of course, ”said Trusov.

Denis originally ordered a right-handed Toyota Altezza from Japan for drifting in winter 2005.

“Studied on snow, ice, wet asphalt. Gathered a team, - he recalls. - And the first large-scale performance was at the 2006 Luzhniki tuning show. And it just so happened that the same summer the movie "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" was released, and our stunts caused a furor, everyone suddenly became interested in this case. "

The first who began to drift professionally at the Tazoprom, according to Trusov, was. “In 2006, I came to the very first competitions with my" top five "and, of course, struck everyone with my skill," says Trusov. “The car was in full competition with foreign cars.”

Denis admits that he does not participate in the "Combat Classics" movement, but sympathizes with the guys. “This is definitely better than sitting on the porches and drinking beer. And winter rides on the classics are the easiest and most affordable way to learn how to drift, ”he notes.

According to Trusov, drifting is a discipline designed for spectators. Perhaps, it is precisely because of her special demonstrativeness that she is popular among self-asserting adolescents among their peers.

Happy new year epta 😎 # disgusting four # bk # combat classics #tourervrussia # youth

Basically it's like freestyle motocross (FMX), skateboarding and BMX. “There is no stopwatch and no need to go faster than everyone else,” says the “father” of Russian drift. - The style and performance are assessed: angle, trajectory, speed. Driving along the highway consists of performing several elements: placing the car in a skid (by swinging or pulling out the parking brake) and going through turns by "shifting" from one side to another. There are also paired races, where the first driver must drive the track as ideally as possible by the drift method, and the second must stay as close to the first as possible and make fewer mistakes. "

According to the founder of the Russian Drift Alliance project, Anatoly Murashov, "Combat Classics" is a budget version of the JDM culture, which is developing in connection with the fall in the level of real incomes of Russians, there is also a part of patriotism, the memory of your past, without which there is no future !

“But among the surrounding population, such spontaneous manifestations of racing culture cause negative results,” he notes. - I myself periodically observe night gatherings under the windows of my house. We have a playground there, and here are five or six people in cars, loud music, and attempts to twist "pyataks" begin. "

However, the legal drift movement relies entirely on private enthusiasts and cannot organize free events for young people. “No matter how much I tried to talk to the transformed person on this topic, I offered to make under our control a playground in Moscow where you can skate for free in winter and summer - all in vain,” Murashov complains. - DOSAAF sites are leased for karting and something else. "

With government and television support, drifting can be a lucrative story. “In terms of attendance, circuit races and all other auto disciplines are significantly inferior to our events. RDA alone has an audience in various social networks of 2.5 million subscribers, ”says our interlocutor.

According to Murashov, the enthusiasm of the participants in the "Combat Classics" movement should not be suppressed by bans, police raids and incriminating articles in the media, but should be supported and directed in the right direction.

Outlaw

Today, young people who have exchanged smoky entrances for rusty Zhiguli are outlawed on all counts.

“They drive cars that cannot legally undergo technical inspection, which means they either do not have car insurance, or with a“ left ”one,” says an employee of the Moscow State Traffic Safety Inspectorate who asked not to indicate his name. - Secondly, technical changes made by them are illegal: installation of engines from other machines, uncoiling and so on. Thirdly, they create emergency situations on the roads and public parking lots, where they arrange their races, violate the law on silence at night. "

The policeman also nods towards DOSAAF that it is his job to keep teenagers enthusiastic about automobiles occupied. “Many of them have real engineering talent, and the state educates them into some kind of crooks who run from the guards of order. We do not need this, we have enough work, ”the inspector complains.

He added that they do not yet have specialized raids to identify teenagers who are fond of "Combat Classics", but he cited as an example an episode when a 17-year-old guy without a license bought a domestic VAZ secretly from his mother and drove it around Yuzhny Butovo.

Sergey Lyutykh

“It ended up being noticed by a traffic police patrol at night,” said the police officer. - The guy tried to hide: he was rushing at a red light, in the opposite lane, and so on. Three police cars took part in the chase. The officers used a service weapon, and the driver, stopping near the forest, tried to hide there. But he was detained, the car was confiscated. "

The guy was taken to the department, a dozen administrative protocols were drawn up, his parents were summoned.

“If traffic police officers detain a 15-year-old driver, then a protocol is drawn up against his parents, and after consideration of the materials in the commission on juvenile affairs and the court, they are fined 500 rubles,” the police officer said.

A seventeen-year-old rider may already be fined 15 thousand rubles. Also, an administrative protocol will be drawn up against the parents of the young man, they will be fined 500 rubles through the courts.

In the event of a repeated violation within a year, the commission on minors' affairs organizes an examination of the conditions in which the teenager lives, and may decide to remove him from the family. Then these young offenders will have problems getting a driver's license. They may not be accepted for training at a driving school. Since these organizations send the data of their students to the MREO about whether they were behind such misconduct.

Anatoly Murashov also sees a problem in the actual inequality of Russian motorists before the law. “Majors drive as they want, having money and acquaintances, and ordinary guys are trying to show that they are no worse, not understanding that they will be asked something according to the law,” he said.

So far, the situation is mitigated by the insufficiently attentive supervision of the fighting burns on the part of the authorities and different views on the tuning of ordinary police officers.

“Everyone is afraid, not knowing what to expect from every meeting with the police,” notes Edo Hovhannisyan. - My friend and I have a "five" on the levers and with all that. We drove it to Adler. At one post they only asked us what was wrong with the suspension. They said that we have certified levers. And there were no more questions. "

The main thing, according to Edo, is that the license plates are there and the car looks more or less like a car. Another way out is to carry a wheelbarrow on a tow truck.

“In the worst case, they will draw up a protocol, and then go to the traffic police to show that all the alterations have been eliminated,” says Hovhannisyan. "Otherwise, your registration will be canceled in 10 days."

On the other hand, if some gigue is forbidden to appear on the road, the loss will be small. The domestic auto industry has managed to rivet such a number of cans that young people will have enough for a long time.

Combat Classic has turned rusty junk into a fashionable accessory that can be purchased and revived by dropping a tablet donated by ancestors.
