It's time to change the fuel filter on my diesel Megan 2, not 100% sure when it was last changed, probably a long time ago. The ideal interval for changing the filter is 10-15 thousand mileage, so the time has come anyway. :)

Unlike a gasoline engine, in a diesel engine, the fuel filter is located not under the bottom of the left passenger, but under the front right wheel arch liner.

Some craftsmen advise to remove the bumper, but you can replace it through the wheel arch liner by removing the wheel, in this report we will consider this particular method.

Remove the right front wheel and see the fuel filter. In the image below, the arrow points to the rubber drain tube cap at the bottom of the filter. The drain is used to drain off excess water that may be found in the fuel.

We remove the part of the fender liner located closer to the front of the car. Next, remove the fuel filter from the bracket, for this we lift the filter up, if it is "stuck" you can slightly knock on the filter with a hammer.

First of all, turn off the power (blue arrow), for this we lift the latch and pull the cable back.

Then we disconnect the hose (fitting) from the branch pipe through which the fuel enters the filter (red arrow); to remove it, you need to "shake" the connector from side to side and just pull it up.

Last of all, turn off the union through which the fuel flows out of the filter (yellow arrow)

We remove the filter from the car (do not forget to mark the position of the top cover relative to the case so that later there will be no problems with assembly).

We look at the seal on the unscrewed screw. Despite the fact that a set of new seals came with the new filter, I decided to put the old ones because they are not visually worn out.

Lift the top of the filter (cover) and take out the filter element. Don't forget to look at the O-ring between the body and the lid (marked with the blue lid).

We collect the filter and install it in the car. After installation, it is necessary to remove the rubber cap from the drain pipe, then pump diesel fuel from the tank to the fuel filter. To do this, we find a pear located under the hood, behind a barrel of coolant. Press several times until the fuel flows through the drain pipe, then close the drain, press the pear several more times until there is enough force to press (as the pressure in the fuel system builds up, the pear gives in more difficult).

We start the car and pray that everything works. After checking the functionality, set the wheel arch liner and wheel to their original position.

These filters are available with a water separator and water level sensor and have a drain plug in the bottom of the housing.

1. The fuel filter is located on the right side of the driver, behind the front right wheel. It is recommended to put the right side on the jack, provide a reliable support, remove the wheel and wheel arch liner. 2. Better to get to the filter from the side of the wheel. We remove the protection. It is fastened with clips around the perimeter. Carefully take out the clips and remove the protection aside.

4. Place a tray under the filter and remove the fuel hoses and filter.

5. The filter cover has red, white and blue markings to match fuel hoses with quick-release clamps of the same color. We install the fuel filter in place.

6. After installing the filter, we pump fuel using a rubber bulb. It is located under the hood on the left side of the engine. We fill the fuel wire until it is full. The transparent hose makes it possible to control the process. We start the engine. We check the tightness of all connections. After making sure that everything is fine, we put everything in place.
