Model history

First generation

The Peugeot Boxer, which replaced the J5, appeared in 1994. The car was developed and manufactured by the Sevel joint venture, which brought together specialists from Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroën. As a result of the work, three cars almost identical in design and appearance appeared: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper.

Peugeot Boxer first generation

Peugeot Boxer cars were produced in four main modifications: a van, a minibus, a light truck and a chassis.

The motor vehicle range includes five diesel units with a volume of 1900, 2000, 2300, 2500 and 2800 cc. from 68 to 128 hp, as well as a 2.0-liter 110 hp gasoline engine. Depending on the selected modification, the Peugeot Boxer was equipped with a mono- or all-wheel drive transmission equipped with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The overall dimensions of the Peugeot Boxer were also different:

  • length - from 4749 to 5599 mm;
  • width - 2024 mm;
  • height - from 2150 to 2860 mm;
  • wheelbase - from 2850 to 3700 mm.

Peugeot Boxer first generation after facelift

The facelift carried out in 2002 affected both bumpers, the radiator grille and the interior of the Peugeot Boxer. Large headlights, plastic moldings on both sides of the body and new engines appeared on the car: 1.9-liter diesel engines replaced the 2.3-liter 16-valve unit with 128 hp. and a 146-horsepower 2.8-liter engine.

Second generation

Peugeot Boxer second generation

In 2006, the second generation Peugeot Boxer was introduced, which is still being produced today. Peugeot Boxer production is carried out at factories located in Italy (Atessa) and France (Valenciennes). In Mexico, an analogue of the Peugeot Boxer is produced under the name Peugeot Manager, and in Russia (the village of Rosva) there is a plant where Peugeot Boxers are assembled from imported car sets.

Specifications Peugeot Boxer

Since the start of production, the second generation of the Peugeot Boxer has been fitted with a 2.2 liter 101 and 120 horsepower diesel engine and a 3.0 liter 158 hp diesel engine. Since 2010, they have been replaced by more modern and economical 2.2-liter units with 110, 130 and 150 hp, as well as 3.0-liter units with 145, 156 and 177 hp.

Overall dimensions of Peugeot Boxer

In addition, Peugeot Boxer vans differ in internal volume (8, 10, 13, 15, 17 and 11.5 cubic meters) and internal height (1662, 1932, 2172 mm).

Exterior

Italian designers from Fiat Centro Style worked on the exterior of the new Peugeot Boxer. They tried to move away from the prevalent cubic design of vans at the time by developing a massive bumper with an integrated U-shaped grille. Above the “lip” of the bumper there is a short bonnet cover and complex headlights with separate optics. The wide windscreen with a low glazing line provides excellent visibility.

Peugeot Boxer - front view

Developed wheel arches and large vertical mirrors stand out on the sides of the car. The passenger modification, in addition to swinging front doors on both sides, has a sliding door on the right side, which opens access to the salon.

Peugeot Boxer - rear view

The narrow rear bumper, equipped with a loading step, facilitates the loading of heavy and bulky goods. Extended equipment of expensive models provides for the installation of a central brake light above the rear door flaps in addition to the standard vertical lights.

Salon Peugeot Boxer

The Peugeot Boxer cabin is three-seater, with one driver's seat and two passenger seats.

Peugeot Boxer dashboard

The dashboard made of soft plastic, in addition to the usual dials of the speedometer, tachometer, fuel quantity and engine temperature, contains an on-board computer display. On the four-spoke steering wheel there are radio control buttons. The driver's workplace is equipped with numerous accessories and storage places: a pull-out table with a notebook and a cup holder on the center console, a voluminous glove box, a niche for papers under the dashboard and a glove compartment on the right side of the dash.

Light trucks of the Peugeot Boxer brand are popular cars from a foreign manufacturer in the domestic market. Boxer models are of high quality, and at the same time their market value is democratic, in comparison with similar cars produced under other European brands. Peugeot Boxer specifications provide many options for owners. The machines are widely used for both personal purposes and business.

Peugeot Boxer body types

The car is produced with the following body types:

  • van;
  • chassis;
  • cargo-passenger;
  • minibus.

Van. Common body design. It is used for transporting equipment, food, furniture and other goods, as well as for transporting people. Van-type vehicles are great for emergency services (ambulance, rescue).

Chassis.Universal type of body. A high load capacity - up to 1900 kg and the ability to mount special equipment on the frame, allow you to perform various tasks on vehicles with a chassis body. They are used as a tow truck, on-board platform. They are often modified into refrigerators, isothermal vans, dump trucks, and tanks.

Cargo and passenger.This body combines the advantages of a cargo van and a minibus. Peugeot Boxer Combi cars are an excellent alternative to a minivan, only with a larger capacity. The combined model can accommodate up to 9 passenger seats with various options for their location. The branded seats are covered with a high quality finish and come in two types: soft and hard. Quick-release fasteners are provided especially for this model.

Minibus.A high-comfort passenger body option that allows the cabin to be reconfigured. The Peugeot Boxer Tour Transformer is equipped with foldable sofas that can be slid to make room for other needs. As a result of such manipulations, the interior of the minibus is easily transformed into a mobile office for negotiations, a sleeping room and a cargo van.

Peugeot Boxer FV 330 L2H1 2.2 HDI 100 model marking decoding

To distinguish between models, the manufacturer uses a special letter marking:

  • FV - body type designation: FT - full metal van; ChC - chassis; Comby - cargo-passenger (in this case, a glazed van is presented);
  • 330 - the total weight of the car is 3000 kg (333 - 3300 kg; 335 - 3500 kg; 440 - 4400 kg);
  • L - the length of the cargo part of the vehicle (L1 - 2.67 m; L2 - 3.12 m; L3 - 3.705 m; L4 - 4.07 m);
  • H - maximum permissible cargo height (H1 - 1.662 m; H2 - 1.932 m; H3 - 2.172 m);
  • 2 HDI 100 - capacity, type and power of the engine (in this case it is presented: turbodiesel - type; 2.2 l. - capacity; 100 l. From. - power).

Vehicle device

The Peugeot Boxer model is designed and manufactured taking into account various factors. The design virtually eliminates the accumulation of dust and dirt in hard-to-reach places. Almost 2/3 of the construction material is galvanized steel. The external surfaces are double galvanized and 5 coats of a special protective compound. This approach reliably protects the truck from corrosion.

The material used for the Peugeot Boxer body cladding is steel sheets up to 1.8 mm thick. This is enough to withstand various road and mechanical shocks. In addition, the chassis with increased rigidity gives additional strength to the automotive structure.

The front suspension of the Peugeot Boxer is well adjusted. It, together with the power steering, guarantees high maneuverability and ease of driving in general. Even in the original set of the Boxer, a modern anti-lock braking system is provided, and the model can be re-equipped with an ASR slip control system, an overtaking sensor, a rearview camera, ultrasonic detectors and parking sensors.

Driver's seat equipment

The driver's seat, in contrast to the passenger's, is equipped with a variety of adjustments, which allows you to conveniently control transport. The model is initially equipped with external electrically adjustable and electrically heated mirrors. Each mirror consists of 2 elements (one spherical) - this reduces "dead zones" and gives a feeling of complete control of the situation. High seating position and large windows provide a good view for the driver.

Advantages and disadvantages of the model

When comparing Peugeot Boxer cars with competing truck brands with similar characteristics, this model is better in the combination of price and quality.

The Peugeot Boxer salons are more comfortable and more spacious than those of competitors, this is the merit of the leaders of the French car industry, since they really prefer ergonomic indicators. The model is equipped with only advanced equipment and a powerful traction motor, which is able to accelerate even a loaded car to maximum speed in a short time with low fuel consumption.

But the Peugeot Boxer model also has disadvantages, which are associated with the adaptation of the European car to domestic roads, temperatures and the quality of maintenance. Particularly problematic Peugeot Boxer units in Russian operating conditions are steering tips, electronics and ball joints. The car takes a long time to warm up in winter, but the cabin is still cold.

Peugeot Boxer, 2017, 84 thousand km mileage, cargo van. A working van, the maximum that loaded 1200 kg - pulls well, the suspension holds, but the rubber bands are killed quickly. The engine is not bad, it pulls from the bottom, it is picky about fuel, the injectors are quickly killed by a crappy diesel engine, the originals are not cheap at all. The consumption of the first 50 thousand was 9-11 liters per hundred square meters, now it happens that it reaches 14, it is immediately clear that the resource of the engine is suitable, it began to knock straight and does not work very stably at idle. As for the running gear, only complaints about the suspension are quickly killed, this is understandable because my standard load - 900 kg sags in different ways on the rear axle, I specially mark it for myself. His big jamb is a control unit - it is so located that after every rain / snow it floods, how many times he has not closed it, it still turns out to be wet inside, the first times he did not know about it and stupidly could not start in the morning after the rain, many have these blocks stupidly burn. The body for 3.5 metal is not thin, but in the place of the chip it turns red quickly, you need to watch, the bottom is also better to wash more often, since all metal salts are eaten quickly.

Since 2015, a Peugeot boxer, mileage 204 thousand km, cargo center, carrying capacity 1200 kg, a new one has been purchased for work. The salon is comfortable, everything is there for the driver, sitting comfortably, steering is acceptable, it keeps in the flow, there is always enough engine pickup, the flow rate above 18 liters never rose. I did a lot of extra things on the car, there were many repairs, there are some sores, the van is not perfect, it sometimes brings problems. It was such that after a heavy rain in the morning I could not start the car, there is voltage on the battery, the fuses are intact, and there was no reaction from the car, the control unit flooded, as it turned out later, which I had a month later and burned out, the new unit and setting cost 40 thousand. Since this is a diesel engine, there are often problems with the fuel, it is better to flush it at every MOT, as it clogs it and the engine chokes, possibly jamming. Just for this reason, for about 120 thousand mileage, it was necessary to make a motor capital, a complete replacement of the hinged, fuel pump and partly for the fuel one, if not for the diesel, then perhaps the engine would have lived longer. The paintwork is weak, I don’t catch stones when driving on the route, but it sands the body heavily, the whole hood is matt, the arches and bottoms of the doors suffer, rust went to them after the first winter. For a Peugeot C grade, given that I took out a loan and has not paid it yet, but I'm already investing in it.

In principle, the car is more or less normal, but there are problems for which I would not buy it a second time. In the cabin, there is not a comfortable shelf above your head against which you constantly bang your head, for me the location of the parking brake on the left side is not convenient, there is little space under the hood, which makes repairs difficult, the filler neck of the washer you don’t understand at all where you need to have magic to fill the liquid there, I bought the car on the secondary and the year seems to be not great and in the cabin everything is already worn out shabby, apparently also not of the best quality materials.

I bought a boxer a year ago. 2016 onwards Mileage was 180 thousand. The first impression was good, the machine rides briskly, responsive in management. Problems began after 20 thousand, I discovered an oil leak, antifreeze also left, the check caught fire. I will say right away with the search for a normal service, where boxers are well known, in the provinces there are a lot. In addition to the maintenance of oil and filter changes, the inlet gaskets were changed where the leak was, antifreeze leaked from under the O-ring, the rings are not sold separately, I had to take it with a pump. We went through hodovku - pads, silent, ball. For 2 TO, I replaced the mass air flow sensor and the chip, cleaned the nozzles, changed the rear discs, parking brake pads, tips, camber. Plus, there were still costs on little things. As a result, for a year with a penny I have already invested a hundred and I feel not the end. I will not say that I took the killed car, it was normal, when I took it I called the diagnostician, the mileage was real. In service, the boxer is very expensive for me. For now, I'll see how it will go on, but the repair costs do not suit me.

5 / 5 ( 1 voice)

The Peugeot Boxer car is a reliable, multifunctional vehicle with a large number of modifications and bodies. Versions of the Peugeot Boxer belong to category B - any driver with the appropriate driver's license can drive. Commercial vehicles are different:

  • A very roomy body - one of the largest in its segment.
  • High lifting capacity.
  • Low maintenance cost.

How the III generation Peugeot Boxer has changed, the technical characteristics, pros and cons will be discussed in this article. All.

Car history

Planning the development of commercial vehicles, in the early 80s, the Peugeot company entered into an agreement with, for the creation of a multipurpose, light-tonnage car. The result of the work was the Peugeot J5, released in 1981. Citroen C25, Fiat Ducato became its twins. J5 differed from competitors in exterior.

After a small facelift in 1991, the production of the model was discontinued. The sales turned out to be a failure - in France, the commercial Peugeot J5 was still sold somehow, but in Europe Fiat Ducato dominated. In 1994, the French company introduced the Peugeot Boxer, a truck with a 2-liter gasoline engine and 5 diesels.

The second generation was presented in 2006. After 2 years, it was possible to assemble it at the Peugeot, Citroen enterprise in Russia. In total, the third generation was released - the release of the third modification is scheduled for 2018-2019.

Exterior

Manufacturers always pay special attention to the exterior of the car. This is especially true for proven, demanded models that undergo restyling almost every year. In 2014, the new Peugeot Boxer was introduced. But times go by, new technologies appear, motorists are becoming more demanding.

In this regard, the management of Peugeot decided to bring the next model to the market - the Peugeot Boxer 2018-2019. The situation with commercial vehicles is somewhat different. Who is interested in tuning, new headlights or a radiator grill, when the first place for the driver was and remains the Peugeot Boxer body, the overall endurance of the car and fuel consumption? Nevertheless, minor improvements were made to the exterior.

The first "Boxers" were presented in 2006. Since that time, the appearance of the car has significantly faded. To refine the novelty, the designers have endowed it with new headlights, modern LEDs. The old radiator grill has been retouched, the bumper has changed slightly.

If earlier the vehicle was produced in the Combi modification (glass on the side and rear), then in 2018 the Peugeot Boxer 3 came out in the Fourgon (blank panels) and Chasis (bare chassis) variations. For obvious reasons, the second type is not in demand in our country. All doors were equipped with reinforced hinges, which made the operation of the car more reliable and durable.

Interior

Looking into the Peugeot Boxer salon, we note only minor changes. The first thing that catches your eye is the dashboard, which completely changed the style. Now it has become more informative. As an additional option, it became possible to cover the steering wheel and gearshift lever with leather. New compartments for small things are quite roomy.

The most notable interior update is the center console. Buying a Peugeot Boxer Professional, the motorist will have the opportunity to order an optional display with navigation. By the way, completely touch-sensitive. For a van of this level, this is almost a sensation.

Specifications

Depending on the modification, the model can have different wheelbases - from 300 to 403.5 centimeters. The length of the body also varies and depends on the type: van, chassis, minibus. The engine is equipped with an Hdi injection system, a manual transmission, six-speed. It is also known from the Peugeot Boxer specifications that the car will be front-wheel drive.

Power unit

Under the hood of the Peugeot Boxer is an engine that has already become popular with the owners of previous versions of the van. This is a 2.2-liter diesel engine with some very interesting specifications. Modifications with a capacity of 130, 150 horsepower will be available in Russia.

There is also a Peugeot Boxer minibus with a 3-liter engine and 180 hp, but it is practically impossible to get it in our country. It will not be sold officially. What will be the fuel consumption of the Peugeot Boxer is still unknown. It is known that the 2nd generation Peugeot boxer spent:

  • 7 liters combined.
  • Almost 11 liters in the urban cycle.
  • Only 7.5 liters in the extra-urban driving cycle.

And its maximum speed was 142 km / h. Of course, fuel consumption directly depends on the wind flow, vehicle load and some other features. In the new third generation Peugeot, the speed is 155 km / h for the 130 hp engine, 162 km / h for the 150 hp engine.

Transmission

Only one 6-speed gearbox will be available to future owners of the Peugeot Boxer 3. Of course, mechanics - automatic transmission for the Boxer Peugeot car is not provided.

Suspension

Whatever they say, the Peugeot Boxer 3 suspension deserves flattering reviews. The car was pumped with a powerful stretcher, the shock absorbers were reinforced.

Compared to the previous version, the suspension is more manageable.

Soundproofing, albeit not perfect, but still got better. If before the diesel engine hummed monotonously, and this was very noticeable, today a minimum of noise reaches the driver.

Lifting capacity

The Peugeot Boxer van is offered in 8 different configurations with a body volume from 8 to 17 cubic meters. m. The impressive volumes make the car one of the most spacious in its segment. Drivers who are engaged in cargo transportation can buy a car:

  • With a gross weight of 2.5 tons.
  • Weighing up to 3.5 tons and payload less than 1000 kg.
  • Weighing up to 3.5 tons and a payload of 1500 kg.
  • With reinforced suspension, increased carrying capacity. The total weight of such a car is 4 tons or more.

Overall dimensions

We have already found out that depending on the model and wheelbase, the volume of the cargo compartment varies between 8-17 cubic meters. m. Let's designate the dimensions of the Peugeot Boxer for a more accurate understanding of the situation. The clearance of the 2018-2019 model is 17.6 centimeters. The height reaches 225.4 cm, the length and width of the Peugeot Boxer are 496.3 and 205 cm, respectively.

Driving technology and aids

The 2019-2020 Peugeot Boxer is instantly rehabilitated when it comes to additional equipment. An optional rear-view camera is available to facilitate parking, hill descent assistant, start assistant. There are light and rain sensors, cruise control option, pressure control, as well as USB, AUX slots.

The standard equipment of the Peugeot Boxer (pictured) also includes an ESP system, which is really lacking on many similar models, a frontal airbag, and power windows. All other options will have to be ordered for an additional fee.

It is noteworthy that 2 steps have appeared in the front bumper of the car. It is very easy to climb on them - it is much easier to clean the glass from dirt.

Mobile office equipment

Despite the fact that the driver drives a cargo Peugeot Boxer, and not an executive sedan, the level of comfort in the cabin is beyond praise. The mobile office is represented by a comfortable driver's seat with a wide range of adjustments.

Seat adjustment in the lumbar region and armrests are available as additional options. There is a folding table for storing handy peripherals - the cabin turns into a real office. The total space for additional accessories is 73 liters.

Safety

To protect the driver and passengers in a collision, the vehicle is equipped with:

  • Frontal airbags for the driver, passenger.
  • Side airbags.
  • Safety shutters on each side of the car.

The front part has a deformation zone that absorbs the lion's share of the energy released upon impact. The size of the front axle has been optimized to transfer some of the energy to the body in a frontal collision.

Options and prices

If you believe the latest news, you can buy a Peugeot Boxer at a price that starts at 1 million 770 thousand rubles. For this money, you can purchase a vehicle in the most basic configuration - with a 130 horsepower engine. When ordering additional equipment such as navigation or a rear-view camera, the cost has every chance of exceeding 2 million rubles.

Tuning

Given the current shortcomings and weaknesses of the van, tuning the Peugeot Boxer is really a must. First, the protection of the wheel arches. Secondly, the installation of new seats - for example, with the analysis of foreign cars. The regular chairs are tight and absolutely uncomfortable. The radiator also needs to be improved - sometimes it is simply sheathed with plywood from the inside.

Noise isolation is also needed - you can't do without it. The rear doors need to be sealed, wheel arch liners will not interfere. The quality of light in the cabin leaves much to be desired - and here you can not do without improvements. The multimedia system is mediocre - it can be replaced too.

Comparison with competitors

The obvious competitors of the Peugeot Boxer auto are:

  • FIAT Ducato.

Due to a decent luggage compartment, an economical diesel engine, the Peugeot Boxer wins the fight, but because of the far from perfect painting, stiff suspension and not the best ergonomics, it is inferior to its competitors.

Owner reviews

No matter how detailed and informative the car reviews are, the opinion of motorists remains decisive. What they say about the Peugeot Boxer, what reviews they write. Let's figure it out.

I am writing an honest review. I live in St. Petersburg. Took an average commercial used Boxer 2012. Of the shortcomings, I note a downright loud body, which rattles strongly, weak struts and springs. He is afraid of ruts and ice like fire. In rain and ice, alas, it is absolutely uncontrollable. The trouble with emergency braking is that it doesn't like this option at all, it hardly slows down. Seats for passengers - zero ergonomics, nothing. After about a year of active driving, weak points came out - the side door rail burst. As soon as I replaced it, the rims burst, the body began to disperse at the seams. I do not demand stars from the sky from the van, but when it crumbles on the go, comments are unnecessary. Glow plugs last a maximum of a year. Someone says thatPeugeotBoxer 3has become much better. I don’t know, I don’t know, but I would definitely not buy a 2012 van today.

Vladimir, Saint Petersburg

I bought a Spanish-assembled bus Peugeot Boxer in May 2015. Now her mileage is 195,000 km. I was looking for a working machine that would not fail or break down at the most unexpected moment. The boxer gives me such confidence. I drive 300-400 km daily, 5 times a week. Always starts up once. The front tires were enough for 95,000 kilometers, the rear should be enough for at least 150,000 kilometers. The maximum that I loaded into it was 2.5 tons. Puffed, groaned, arrived without consequences. I stop by for inspection every 15 thousand km. It paid off almost completely in 1.5 years.

Of the advantages, I note reliability and agility, good cross-country ability. Of the minuses - albeit comfortable, but still an explosive interior, a lot of noise. In cold weather, the side door does not really close, no matter how hard you try. In general, I am satisfied with the purchase.

Andrey, Anapa

I clocked my Peugeot Boxer 2 diesel to 165. This is an airplane, not a van. And it eats no more fuel than a passenger car. Convenient loading, very spacious. At 69,000 km, the generator and steering tip had to be replaced. Now I sell it as unnecessary. A good alternative to popular brands!

Sergey Safonov, Moscow

Pros and cons

Pros of the car

  • Increased ergonomics, appearance, comfort;
  • The luggage compartment is more spacious.

Cons of the car

  • The review cannot be called free - the volumetric racks interfere;
  • The storage compartments in the door panels are too low;
  • The handbrake was installed on the left for some unknown reason. It is not very convenient to use it;
  • The steering wheel is adjustable exclusively for reach. Since there are no settings for the angle of inclination, it is almost impossible to achieve the most comfortable position;
  • The driver and passengers will have to take an almost vertical position;
  • After 60 thousand run, Peugeot Boxer literally starts to crumble. The most vulnerable spots: clutch, air suspension, bearings, steering racks and generators;
  • In addition, the price for the Peugeot Boxer is far from the lowest.

Summing up

And a small afterword to conclude the review. The Peugeot Boxer has undergone minor changes and is definitely an improvement over the 2nd generation. Not without flaws - they were voiced in the paragraph above. Where is the best place to buy a Peugeot Boxer? The best option is to contact an authorized dealer.

It is he who will be able to offer models with various configuration options, and will provide an official guarantee for the van. The price of 1.77 million rubles for the new Peugeot Boxer is rather big, to put it mildly. But there is a real way to save money. It is necessary to wait for the start of sales, after which the price of last year's Peugeot Boxer van will definitely decrease.

Does the cost seem overpriced anyway? There is a way out - to pay attention to used vehicles. It is quite realistic to take a used Peugeot boxer for 7-8 thousand dollars. If the condition is practically new, and the mileage is modest enough, you can keep within $ 16,000.

The French Peugeot Boxer is a very popular model of a commercial van in the Russian Federation and the most dangerous competitor to the domestic GAZelle. Since the beginning of 2000, Russia has become one of 3 places where the car is produced. The reasons for the success of the car in the world market are called high comfort, excellent build quality and optimal dimensions of the Peugeot boxer.

Peugeot Boxer 1

1994 was the premiere year for the Peugeot Boxer. Initially produced as a light-duty truck, van, chassis, minibus. Until 2006, the model did not undergo significant changes. Characteristic features of the first Boxer family:

  • high reliability five-speed gearbox, manual or 4-speed automatic;
  • independent suspension of the lever-spring system, located at the front, at the rear - dependent arrangement with longitudinal springs;
  • transverse arrangement of the motor;
