Skoda Fabia II is a budget version of Volkswagen AG cars. This cheap car, in my opinion, does not differ favorably in its exterior, has small dimensions and, accordingly, regular wheels with small dimensions.
The European version of the car, and they are assembled in many European countries (Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, etc.), is equipped with a rather low tire profile, so our Russian man immediately changes the standard wheels in order to increase the car's clearance and give a "soft" ride pendants.
Nominal wheel size for Skoda Fabia
Factory equipment offered by the dealer in showrooms is more often 165/70 R14, 175/60 \u200b\u200bR14, 185/60 R14, 195/55 R15, 185/55 R15, and even low-profile 205/45 R16, which is designed for good roads, in the context of that the fact that in most regions the highway coverage is much better.
Hence, for whom the style is dubious in my opinion, that on his "basin" cuts down the springs, and for whom the off-road qualities of even an ordinary foreign-made "puzoterka" are important - increases the ground clearance.

- Dia (diameter under the hub), in our case it is 57.1 mm;
- If the size of the disc for Fabia is 5x14 ET35, then 5 is the width of the disc rim in inches, 14 is the outer diameter of the disc rim in inches, and ET35 is the offset of the disc, mm. Standard dimensions of the Fabia, respectively: 5x14 ET35, 6x14 ET37, 6x15 ET43 and 6.5x16 ET40;
- Bolts for "dies" are used 14x1.5.

The first ones I got together with discs from Volkswagen golf and after installation I was struck by the softness of the car. The second set of studded rubber wheels for the winter Nokian Nordman 4 showed that the ground clearance is too small, and the ride is a little harsh, although it does not matter here, since the holes are more closed in winter.
I set the third set with tires higher in the profile consciously, it was not without the use of tools and devices.
Tires chose the "honest" Chinese Triangle TR918 with an asymmetric pattern, and later on I can say that I was right. In a word, a cheap version of high-quality rubber, of course, this is a summer tire, not the best, but it has withstood tests in practice with more than 10 thousand mileage. Previously installed tires are 185/60/14 versus 185/65/15 in the photo.
Alloy wheels for Fabia
The disks were also purchased by the Chinese REPLICA REPLAY SK24 6x15 in size with ET38 offset, they were surprisingly well balanced by the master, did not split, did not peel off, and visually quite nice. Departure can be "played", but you do not need to get carried away, here the increase in track is not only dirt on the body, this is another work of the suspension units, from critical loads its premature wear and even destruction can occur.
The process of installing non-standard wheels and finalizing the rear arch
For installation you will need: a jack, safety racks, a hair dryer, leather gloves, a light sledgehammer, a wooden bar with a section of approximately 50 mm by 100 (120) mm and a length of half a meter.
Three wheels are mounted in the usual way, but under the rear left you will need to prepare a wheel arch.
We hang the car, put safety supports, since the car can get off the jack with a sharp mechanical load on the body element under the arch. We remove the wheel, clean the hub and arch from dirt.
At the rear of the arch, from the side of the bumper, there is a metal assembly protruding at an angle towards the wheel. The fender liner is also molded with a protrusion, which can be seen in the photo, and when a wide wheel profile is installed, the tire will rub against the plastic.
It has been verified that jamming of the protruding element will not actually damage the car body. Therefore, we boldly take a bar and a sledgehammer and with sharp increasing blows from the side of the arch we correct this bracket. I did not remove the wheel arch liner. Then we press on the wheel arch liner by hand to make sure that the body element is jammed.
We take a building hair dryer, heat it about 500-600 degrees, and slowly warm up the protrusion of the plastic fender liner. After local heating for 2-3 minutes, try to press the bar on the edge of the arch covering, and hold it a little to fix the shape. If it doesn’t work right away, then the plastic may not be warmed up enough yet. The result of changing the shape of the fender liner should be as in the photo.
The ground clearance after replacement increased by 21.5 mm, visually even more. Let me draw your attention to the installation of the bolts, I purchased them complete with alloy wheels. Yes, shiny and beautiful, but after installation I found that their length was too long specifically for my discs. They noticeably touched the ends of the brake drums, I had to grind them on an emery wheel by a couple of millimeters.
I want to note that the geometric dimensions of tires from different manufacturers, as well as, for example, studded ones, often differ. Some Korean tires are guilty of this, so an individual approach to their selection is needed. The arches limit the size of the wheels installed, and their weight can adversely affect the durability of the suspension and directional stability.
Meanwhile, given that if you live in the absence of roads, and, therefore, alas, there are only directions, and in fact there is no point in jumping at high speed on potholes in order to quickly destroy the car, then your option from replacing wheels with a larger size to installation of spacers for suspension units. You can radically change the wheel size by purchasing only a brutal SUV ...
I drove more than 11 thousand kilometers, and a third of them in the absence of normal roads, I can say with confidence that as a result of the installation of the wheels, the suspension did not require replacement of parts, there was no increase in fuel consumption, decrease in directional stability, but the ride comfort increased by order.
Where other drivers "sneak", choosing flat sections of the track, I can drive quite confidently and without consequences for the condition of the car.
