The VAZ plant equipped some of the Prior's machines with a standard head unit, the basic modifications had only preparation for the independent installation of equipment. The landing sockets are designed for standard products, it is allowed to install 2 Din radio tape recorders in the Prioru of the first generation, but this requires the completion of the internal elements of the instrument panel.

Installation on Priora of the first generation

To install the car radio in its original place, you need:

  1. Disconnect the battery from the vehicle electrical system.
  2. Remove the 1DIN decorative frame with storage unit from the center console of the dashboard. The assembly is held in place by plastic latches located in pairs at the top and bottom of the box. Removal is carried out by pulling the part towards itself, possibly bending the edges with a plastic assembly spatula.
  3. On the back there are mounting points for a factory-fitted patch harness equipped with ISO connectors. It is necessary to disconnect the plugs from the drawer, which is then set aside.
  4. Connect the pads to the radio and check the operation of the device. On Priora cars from the factory, a constant supply of positive power is provided, regardless of the position of the key in the ignition lock. It is necessary to change the connection of wires, guided by the operating instructions for the head unit. The positive signal given when the ignition is turned on is taken from the rear window heating button.
  5. Route the wire to the external antenna. The cable runs under the plastic cladding of the A-pillars and the roof panel. To reduce the likelihood of noise, the wire is wrapped with fabric insulating tape or foam rubber.
  6. Install the removed trim elements in place.
  7. Connect the antenna power from the ISO connector, check the performance of the acoustic device in the radio receiver mode.
  8. Place the standard mounting hole in the hole in the center console. The part is fastened with tongues that are squeezed out with a screwdriver. During installation, it is required to ensure the maximum planting density, which will reduce the vibration of the radio while driving.
  9. Connect the power, speaker and antenna plugs to the connectors on the back of the head unit. Place the radio in the guide shaft until the locking clips engage. Check the tightness of the installation and then place the decorative frame in place.

Lada Priora is an improved prototype of the well-known "ten". Modern design and new equipment details have made this budget domestic car quite popular among motorists. But, despite this, each Priora owner strives to improve his car to his own taste, to make it more comfortable and stylish. Often, lovers of clean and high-quality acoustics change the standard audio player for a more modern version. Installing the radio on the Lada Priora has some features, which you can get acquainted with in this article.

Modern car players are quite functional and diverse not only in their external design, but also in their configuration, installation and connection method. When choosing an auto player in Prior, you should take into account all the features of its dimensions, the possibility of connecting connectors and the quality of parts.

Features of mounting a radio tape recorder on a Lada Priora

As a rule, installing a radio on the Prioru implies several types of audio players:

  • 1 DIN;
  • 2 DIN.

2 DIN media player for LADA Priora

These designations mean the dimensions of the hole for installing the radio, which correspond to the dimensions 180x50x160 mm for 1 DIN and 180x100x160 mm for 2 DIN. If you want to install a more modern version of the 2 DIN radio, the car owner will have to carry out the procedure of sawing the partitions of the front console of the car in order to expand the hole for the player. In some cases, in order to adjust the dimensions, it becomes necessary to cut out or purchase an appropriate adapter frame for the console, which is much more difficult than installing 1 DIN.

If, nevertheless, a decision is made to install a 2 DIN standard system, then it is best to entrust the installation work to an experienced specialist, otherwise there is a risk of spoiling both the console itself and the car interior trim.

It should also be noted that DIN standard 2 radio tape recorders have a wide range of functions:

  • long service life thanks to shockproof housing;
  • paired amplifiers increase signal reception several times;
  • the ability to switch the frequency of the radio signal for all passengers of the car thanks to the Music Zone system;
  • built-in radio navigator function;
  • built-in USB connector makes it possible to connect external devices for viewing and playing files;
  • the presence of a bass amplifier for music for better sound.

Installing a radio tape recorder in Lada Priora with your own hands

In the first case, the installation of a 1 DIN type audio player is considered, which does not provide for changing the shape and parameters of the plastic base of the console. Before installation, de-energize the vehicle by pulling out the negative terminal of the battery.

It is recommended to divide the process of installing a standard audio player into several stages in the following sequence:

  1. 1. Preparing the hole for installation. To do this, dismantle the plastic cover covering the niche provided by the manufacturer for installing an audio player;
  2. 2. Definition of connectors for connection. The hole for installing the audio player contains several sockets: for gray power connections and for brown speakers;
  3. 3. Connecting the player to the car connectors. If the connectors of the audio player and the machine correspond to the ISO standard, it is necessary to connect according to the diagram or through an adapter;
  4. 4. Installing the radio in a regular hole. Remove the magnetic frame and install the body into the standard hole in the car console. A small click will occur when properly seated;
  5. 5. Activation of the player by pressing the "Reset" button.

Installation of a DIN type 2 audio player is more laborious due to the formation of an appropriate hole size in the Priora console. The installation process is similar to the 1 DIN installation system, the connection is done according to the same principle.

Firmware for the head unit Lada Priora

Modern technology is rapidly advancing, improving car gadgets as well. The firmware of the Lada Priora head unit allows motorists to replenish the player's capabilities by adding additional functions that the standard software does not have. The updated radio interface can be supplemented with a convenient touch keyboard, fresh programs and new versions of players with the ability to play all audio and video formats.

Radio set from Priora 2

The firmware of the VAZ 2170 audio player system is carried out using an SD card with a volume of at least 4 GB, formatted in the FAT system.

The firmware of the Lada 2170 radio tape recorder is quite simple:

  1. 1. You need to find a suitable program on the network and save it on your PC. As a rule, such programs are shared by motorists on thematic forums;
  2. 2. Save downloaded files to a memory card;
  3. 3. Insert the SD-card with the necessary information into the provided slot on the radio;
  4. 4. Restart the player by pressing the "Reset" button, after which the update program will automatically start. Thus, the firmware goes to the end, as evidenced by the scale on the monitor of the radio;
  5. 5. When the firmware is finished, take out the memory card and reboot the player, after which you can use the updated interface.

When choosing a program with which the firmware of the Lada Priora head unit will be carried out, you should pay special attention to its description. Various options for updating may include unnecessary and unnecessary features that will subsequently overload the device's memory and lead to slower operation.

You should also choose a program to expand the device display, otherwise the firmware will require constant screen calibration. The most optimal solution in the matter of updating the radio software will be to contact the experienced specialists who provide this service. This will help avoid some unforeseen complications when installing the wrong firmware.

Tips for installing a radio in Lada Priora

In order to avoid unforeseen difficulties in the process of installing a radio tape recorder in Lada Priora, it is recommended to use the advice of experienced motorists:

  1. 1. Before installing the radio, you must thoroughly study the connection diagram of media devices. If the connectors of the player are incorrectly connected, there is a high probability of failure of some car systems;
  2. 2. There are many models of radio tape recorders from different manufacturers. Some of them have individual connectors with an additional adapter included in the kit for the ISO standard. This fact should be taken into account when choosing an audio device for Lada Priora, since one of the connection options in this situation will be to cut wires and directly solder them to the wiring of the car;
  3. 3. With direct connection of the head unit, you can use special terminals;
  4. 4. The ISO audio player connection diagram will remain the same when you replace the radio with a new one.

Do not use twisting and wrapping tape for direct connection of wires. This type of insulation is dangerous when operating the car in winter, since at low temperatures the adhesive tape deforms and collapses, which will lead to a short circuit of the car's wires.

This equipment is supplied without a built-in radio and acoustics, but with audio preparation (with wires routed to the speakers). Most of the radio tape recorders sold in stores can be connected to the removed standard ISO connectors. A dummy box is installed in place of the radio.

I want to say right away that initially I wanted to buy a head unit (radio tape recorder) without disks, but with the obligatory support of USB and SD media. The age of CD / DVD has already passed, and I did not want to overpay for additional filling, which really would not work. Internet searches have shown that most manufacturers are persistently continuing to produce disk devices, albeit with support for cards and USB. Among diskless offerings, mainly Chinese manufacturers dominate and there are very few of them. Having compared several devices, I opted for the budget Hyundai H-CCR8086. The standard mounting locations are designed for 13 cm speakers. There was no time to refine the mounting places for a larger diameter, and there were no big musical requests either - the choice fell on the Pioneer TS-1339R coaxial three-cavity speakers, which were purchased in 2 pairs. The package was completed with the purchase of an internal Hyundai H-CA3200 antenna and spare caps for door trim.

I prepared a tool in advance: a flat screwdriver wrapped with electrical tape for removing the trim, a PH2 Phillips screwdriver, a TORX T15 head, a knife, platypus and side cutters.

At first I decided to install the speakers - the rear ones then the front ones. The rear speaker slots are covered with decorative mesh covers.

They are held on latches and removed very simply - just pry them a little with a flat screwdriver.

Under the plug there were wires for connecting the speaker.

To maintain the polarity of the connection, the connectors are made of different widths and correspond to the dimensions of the contacts on the speaker. The set with acoustics comes with special fasteners.

I put on the metal eyes on the shelf in accordance with the location of the mounting holes and bait them immediately with a self-tapping screw so that when the column is installed in its seat, they do not stick to the magnet. The wires must be connected to the speaker.

I insert the column into its seat, bending the screws to the sides, then screw it on.

You can put on the decorative cover after checking the functionality of the entire system. Work on installing the column on the opposite side is carried out in a similar way. I proceed to dismantle the door trim.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, I unscrew the self-tapping screw in the niche of the door opening handle.

I take out the rubber mat in the niche of the closing handle.

I unscrew the two screws with the torx head.

The power window control panel is removed after pressing the latches. Then I disconnect the connector with the wires.

I unscrew the cap of the lock pin. I sink the pin down. It is also better to remove the decorative plastic rim - this is easy to do by prying it through the internal hole with a screwdriver.

The luxury equipment is equipped with lighting shades at the bottom of the door, which must also be removed by snapping off the latch on the side of the door hinges and throwing the shade down.

Disconnect the lamp power connector.

Moving on to the most interesting thing - removing the skin. After the operations done, she rests on plastic caps. You need to make some effort to snap them off. At the moment, a flat screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape will come in handy so as not to scratch the paintwork. Better to start from the bottom corners, then move up. At the end, I pull back the door opening handle and slightly feed the trim upward to overcome the lock pin. The above photo shows the location of the caps - it is there that you need to make an effort with a screwdriver in order to remove the trim without damage.

I found wires for connecting the speaker in the area of \u200b\u200bthe installation site.

Fitting the column to its seat showed that the hole in the door is slightly smaller than the diameter of the column. I did not have bushings of a suitable size to secure the column at a short distance (about 3-5 mm) from the door. Well, I'll fix the column as it goes. The gradual alternate tightening of the screws made it possible to quite smoothly and firmly fix the column in the installation place. The column mounting ears are slightly deformed - a consequence of the decision.

I put on the trim in place. I almost forgot to pass the lamp power wire into its hole. I knock down the location of the caps with my fist. I install the power window control panel and the lighting shade. I screw all the screws into place. Similar actions are carried out with the passenger door.

The speakers are installed - it's time to move on to the radio. I take out a decorative blank box. It is held by four latches - they can be released with a flat screwdriver or simply pull the box with your hands towards you.

Factory ISO connectors are stuck in the back of the box. I take them out, drawer to the side.

If you connect the head unit (radio tape recorder) right now, everything should work. I restrain myself from such an impulse - I deal with the gray connector. There are power wires. Power is supplied to the radio tape recorder constantly, even when the ignition is turned off. This does not suit me - I do not want the radio to plant the battery in the parking lot. In the passport to the radio, I find out that it has two power wires - power from the battery (on all the time) and power after turning on the ignition. After the second is supplied, the radio tape recorder can be turned on and starts to consume the standby current. In the standard connector, both contacts are connected together - the radio tape recorder will always consume current, albeit small, of the order of several tens of milliamperes, but still unpleasant. In addition, the contact for supplying power to external devices is not involved - an active antenna in our case. Modification of the power connector is required.

The colors in the above table may differ from those used in the factory block or block for another radio tape recorder - the table is scanned from the instructions for Hyundai H-CCR8086.

Continuous power should be in the 4th pin, the interrupted power should be in the 7th pin.

I disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid unforeseen situations. I rearrange the antenna power control contact (pin 5) from the connector that came with the radio. I take out the power contact 4 - it is connected with a jumper from the power contact 7. The standard power contact 7 (there should be ignition according to the radio's passport) I rearrange to contact 4. I cut the jumper coming from the supply wire to the root - it will come in handy for connecting the ignition to contact 7 It remains to find +12, which appear after turning on the ignition. All that was needed was found next to the connector of the rear window heating button - the central yellow wire. The button is removed easily - it is enough to pry it from below with a flat screwdriver.

I pull a wire from there and connect it to pin 7. I check the circuits and carefully insulate the connections.

It's time to install the antenna. I remove the trim of the right pillar - it is attached to the clips-latches.

There is enough space between the dashboard and the pillar to pass the wire to the antenna.

I stretch the antenna cable under the glove compartment into the radio compartment. I connect the antenna power to pin 5 of the power connector.

Assembling the antenna - everything is ready for testing.

I plug in the radio and make sure everything works.

I fix the antenna according to the instructions. It is important to maintain the distance from the rack required to install the skin. I attach the ground wire under the self-tapping screw of the sun visor, passing it under the headliner.

The antenna is installed. Pillar trim in place.

It remains to install the mounting cover in the radio compartment.

I insert the casing, bend the fastening tabs. I connect all the connectors to the radio.

I insert the radio tape recorder into the casing and push it until it clicks. Work is done.

A small review about the Hyundai H-CCR8086 radio tape recorder and Pioneer TS-1339R speakers.

The speakers surprised me with their sound. Of course, the bass is not enough, which was foolish to expect from 13 cm, but not bad considering the price of the acoustics. The radio has some drawbacks - eating up the first second of the song, lack of support for Russian-language tags, too bright backlighting of the left block of buttons. The last flaw can be corrected by painting over the backlight LEDs with a black marker. Pros - good sound, very fast work with SD card and USB, convenient control and removable panel. The antenna Hyundai H-CA3200 has good sensitivity. Generally satisfied with the installed kit. The cost of the equipment was 4600 rubles.

P.S. After a year of operation of the kit, which was discussed above, significant shortcomings were identified, which you can read about in

installation of 2 DIN radios in prio

It's about how put Clarion tape recorder in double height instead of two pockets in the car's center console. That 1 DIN hole (there is a pocket or glove box scientifically) in the car is already there and there is no problem installing a radio of the same size. This standard has been adopted for a long time and most car manufacturers comply with it. Device with two assembling devices. task for the Master. Remove the glove box using a flathead screwdriver by pushing the top and bottom edges of it and pulling it towards you. The latches holding it are visible in the figure on the right. At the back of the pockets are the radio connectors, from which wires go to the speakers and from the battery. Disconnect them. The lower part of the compartment is usually covered with a decorative cover. Take it off, it won't come in handy. The mounting screws are visible on the back of this recess. They must be unscrewed. The center console contains six screws. Two of them. in the hole under the upper glove compartment, screwed at a 45 degree angle. Two more. underneath a convertible ashtray that folds back.

It is also removed. Unscrewed? Remove the console. Carefully disconnect all connectors from the switches and the fusing unit. In this machine, one wire did not have a connector within reach. alarm LED wire. But it is not regular. It was cut off and later rebuilt after all the work was completed. This is how the Priora center console looks from the back. We take him off the car. Then unscrew the inner brace to support one head unit. It is also an additional detail in this car. 🙂
Everything is ready for "careful file processing". Saw saw for metal is unnecessary. Just slide the wiring gently to avoid accidentally cutting it. Just a little to finish the plastic and. voila! The improper part of the Priora remains in the hands. The interior of the console is ready for installation. It's time for the upper to lose some of its weight. Saw the bottom groove until you get a radio cushion with just the bottom and side walls. The picture of the future landing site under the "head" has already appeared. Great place for the device, but it is worth waiting for the installation to complete and evaluate the result

As the saying goes: "Fools don't show unfinished work." 🙂 Try on the head unit, time to set the beauty. Center and angle the device correctly, look at the profile, select the holes on the side of the head for attaching to the base. Drill holes in front of the hole and secure the tape recorder to the back of the center console. Check for distortion in relation to the hole, both horizontally and vertically and in depth. If it's beautiful, screw it on. From thick paper or thin cardboard (no more than 1 mm), you need to create a template frame around the device. Take a ruler and measure the distance around the frame. Cut it out. Then comes the inner hole. from muzzle DVD to the brim. Check it out and go! It should look something like this. True, this template lies upside down on the table, but that's not the point. 🙂 We transfer the cardboard template to plastic. Any available material can be used. The master had a piece of soft plastic 1 mm thick on hand. used for advertising. The painting stage is pretty scary. The frame turned out well. It remains to secure the center console mounts, leaving 4 instead of 6.
