In mid-May 2015, Chevrolet unveiled the sixth generation Camaro muscle car at a special event in Detroit. The car retained its recognizable features, but at the same time it became noticeably more technologically advanced, having moved to a new "cart", and at once lost almost a hundredweight.
The production of the sixth incarnation of this sports car has been established at the General Motors facility in Michigan - its sales in the US market began in the fall, and in 2016 it reached the Russian market.

Well, the final contribution to the completion of the harmonious image is made by stylish lanterns and beautiful 18- or 20-inch rims.
The level of performance directly affects the design of the exterior:
- The basic version of the "sixth Camaro" is distinguished by vertical LED "chains" of running lights on the front bumper and two tailpipes of the exhaust system.
- And here is the privilege of the "top SS" - a more aggressive "muzzle" with horizontal LEDs and ventilation slots on the hood, as well as four "trunks" responsible for the release, and a small spoiler on the trunk.
The 6th generation Chevrolet Camaro has become smaller than its predecessor in all characteristics at once: the length is 4784 mm, the width is 1897 mm, the height is 1348 mm, the distance between the axles is 2811 mm. This means that these indicators "lost" (in comparison with the previous one) - 53 mm, 20 mm, 12 mm and 41 mm, respectively. The front track is 1602 mm wide, and the rear track is 1631 mm.
The interior of "Camaro 6" retained a slight continuity with its predecessor, but received a noticeably changed layout. Four aircraft deflector nozzles look interesting, evoking associations with Mercedes, and the central pair is planted at the level of the transmission lever.
The steering wheel is truncated in a sporty way at the bottom and bears the control elements, and it looks much more appropriate in the interior of a sports car than the "donut" from "Cruise" in the previous model.
By default, the sculptural "canopy" hides analogue instruments, but an optional 8-inch high-definition display is installed. A screen of similar size tops the center console, but it is in charge of the MyLink multimedia system.
The air temperature and fan speed control is organized in an interesting way - they are controlled by the rings around the ventilation deflectors, as a result of which the developers managed to get rid of some of the buttons.
What the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro has noticeably added against the background of the fifth generation model is the quality of finishing materials - solid plastics, fabric or leather in the seat upholstery, metal inserts. The sports car is equipped with front seats with pronounced bolsters on the sides, the rear sofa will still be comfortable only for children or short riders.
Specifications. For the "Camaro", a power range of three gasoline units is proposed (but the basic version causes the greatest surprise):
- The role of the "base" is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ecotec turbo engine, developing 275 horsepower at 5600 rpm (in the Russian market declared as "238 hp") and 400 Nm of torque, available in the range from 3000 to 4500 rpm.

Each of the engines relies on a 6-speed "mechanics" or an 8-range "automatic" Hydra-Matic (8L45 for the 2.0-liter version, 8L90 - for modifications 3.6 and 6.2).
In terms of dynamic characteristics, the "sixth Camaro" is not bad - even the basic version of this coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6 seconds, and for every 100 km of run in the combined cycle, it consumes an average of 7.8 liters of gasoline.
This two-door is based on the Alpha RWD platform (which also serves as the base for the Cadillac CTS sedan, but has been 70% redesigned specifically for the Camaro). On the front axle, an aluminum multi-link scheme with MacPherson strut and double steering knuckle is mounted, at the rear there is a steel five-link suspension. The wider use of "winged" metal in the body structure increased the rigidity of the latter by 28% and reduced the total weight of the car by at least 90 kilograms.

This car was created in order to take a leading position in its segment and successfully compete with its counterparts, in particular with the Ford Mustang. And it is worth noting that the American car did it well and does it. But how has it changed over many decades? More on this below.
1st generation (1967-1969)
The first Chevrolet Camaro was released in 1967. At the presentation of the coupe, the company's marketers immediately identified the Ford Mustang as a rival, which appeared two years earlier and had already managed to gather a large army of fans during this time.

The new generation of the Chevrolet Camaro was released a year after its predecessor left the assembly line. The car received a more graceful body design, as well as upgraded chassis and motors.

III generation (1982-1985)
The new Chevrolet Camaro was significantly different from its predecessors and it was not only about design. In the early 80s of the last century, the oil crisis was at its peak, moreover, the maintenance of powerful cars was not economically viable due to expensive insurance. Based on this, the company decided to adapt the new generation of its sports car to the realities of the American market and significantly limited the power output of its motors.
However, the developers decided to compensate for this with a futuristic design, rich equipment and a well-tuned chassis. In addition, the convertible returned to the body line, which was very much liked by fans of open-top driving.

The motor range consists of:
- Unit 2.5 liters with a return of 105 forces.

III generation. Restyling (1985-1992)
The updated Chevrolet Camaro delighted its fans with a more aggressive design and improved interior materials. But the main reforms affected the power range - the engines became more powerful.
Now the range of motors looks like this:

- The engine is 3.1 liters, which is capable of developing 162 horsepower.

The third generation Chevrolet Camaro looks very menacing and brutal. This look is given to it by chopped body shapes, a front bumper with a low overhang, wide wheels, as well as an air intake on the hood. The taut stern is notable for the wedge-shaped brake lights.

IV generation (1993-1998)
The newest Chevrolet Camaro received a biodesign of the exterior that was fashionable in the 90s, while it was able to retain its recognizable features. In addition to the modern body, the developers have equipped the sports car with more powerful engines than it was before, which again aroused the keen interest of fans of the model.

V generation (2009-2013)
After a long hiatus in the fight against its main competitor - the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet decided to get involved in the battle again and presented the world with a completely new Camaro. The salon is neatly assembled. However, the finishing materials are not of the highest quality - the hard plastic of the dashboard, as well as the pseudo-aluminum inserts, upset.

VI generation (2015 - present)
The current Chevrolet Camaro is very similar in appearance to its predecessor, but upon closer inspection, it is noticeable that this is a completely new car. The interior decoration has undergone significant changes - a new multimedia complex has been installed, the instrument panel has been redesigned. The technical reforms are also pleasantly surprising.

Moderate aggression
The supercharged 2.0-liter engine with a return of 238 forces pulls well throughout the entire rev range, but acceleration occurs without pronounced pickups and a formidable roar. The automatic gearbox changes gear quickly, although it lacks a smoother operation.
The steering will satisfy the vast majority of active drivers who rarely hit the racetrack. The steering wheel is informative, quite responsive, and there are practically no rolls when cornering. However, in slow turns, you need to significantly limit the speed, otherwise the car will drive the front axle out of the trajectory.
