Mitsubishi Lancer X

From the history of the model

  • On the conveyor: since 2007
  • Body: sedan, hatchback
  • Russian range of engines: petrol, P4, 1.5 (109 HP), 1.6 (117 HP), 1.8 (143 HP), 2.0 (150 HP)
  • Gear boxes: M5, A4, variator
  • Drive unit: front, full
  • Restyling: in 2010, the total number of modifications was reduced, but after a couple of years a new 1.6 engine became available and the front bumper, radiator grille, front foglights and rear optics were changed; improved noise insulation, updated dashboard.
  • Crash tests: 2009, Euro NCAP; overall rating - five stars: adult protection 81%, child protection 80%, pedestrian protection 34%, safety assistants 71%.

At first, the tenth Lancer sold well with us, but then the demand only fell. Because of this, already in 2010, with the restyling of the model, the manufacturer removed several interesting but unclaimed modifications from the Russian market. Versions with a hatchback body and a 2.0-liter engine came under the knife, and only with it an all-wheel drive transmission was available - structurally it is in many ways similar to the one that works on the penultimate generation Outlander - servicemen consider it quite reliable and unpretentious.

Lancers intended for our market were assembled in Japan. There are no special complaints about the quality of the paintwork. Moreover, the cars of the tenth generation, in contrast to their predecessors, do not rust in the rear arches.

Like many Japanese models, the Lancer is receiving increased attention from hijackers. It will not be difficult for professionals to bypass an uncomplicated standard immobilizer, so an additional anti-theft is necessary. It is difficult to explain the high stopping ability - the market has never had a shortage of used parts, including body parts. On numerous showdowns, there is always a wide choice for a reasonable price. Alas, new parts are very expensive, and Taiwanese counterparts are of extremely low quality.

Engines 1.5 and 1.6 belong to the 4A family. The one and a half liter 4A91 engine turned out to be rather weak for a car. To drive more or less actively, drivers squeeze all the juice out of it, and as a result, the engine resource rarely exceeds 150,000 km. When operating in limiting modes, the oil burns out, its products clog the lubricant drainage channels in the pistons, then the oil scraper rings also coke. As a result, oil consumption becomes critical, the owner sooner or later forgets to top up on time - and oil starvation sets in, finally finishing off the engine. To improve the reliability of the unit, the manufacturer has released upgraded rings. But this did not fundamentally solve the problem, since the main reason is ruthless exploitation.

The aluminum block of the 4A91 engine has factory repair dimensions, but such original parts (for example, pistons and rings) are difficult to find in Russia. It is good that there are enough good-quality substitutes on the market.

Motor 1.6 (4A92) put on Lancer only in 2012. The cars haven’t gotten solid mileage yet - and the engine hasn’t shown itself badly. However, servicemen are skeptical: the units belong to the same family and are structurally very similar. It's good that the 4A motor scale has no other weak points.

Engines 1.8 and 2.0 - from the 4B family. They are practically free of sores and have a good resource by today's standards: 180,000-200,000 km. In particular, the 2.0 (4B11) engine is well received by professionals involved in engine overhaul.

All types of motors have a typical attachment belt and roller life of 100,000 km or more, and the engine mounts last much longer than the previous Lancer.

  • On versions with a 1.5 engine, an electric power steering is installed, which is built into the steering rack. On machines of the first years of production, very rarely, but system failures did occur. The amplifier either turned off altogether, or worked only when the steering wheel was turned in one direction. Attempts to repair did not bring the desired result and, as a result, it was necessary to replace the steering gear assemblies with used ones. In general, the electric amplifier on the Lancer is not a hassle. Unlike Subaru, Ford and Mazda, Mitsubishi's electric rails are reliable: knocking is not about them.
  • On versions with engines 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, a classic power steering is installed. Sometimes a leak of the return line coming from the rail to the pump pops up: the rubber tubes are frayed at the points of attachment to the steering gear. It is important to replace the power steering fluid in accordance with the regulations - every 90,000 km. By this run, the products of natural wear and tear in the lubricant are already clogging up the filter mesh in the pump reservoir.

Achilles' heel of the tenth Lancer - variable speed drive... It is only available for versions with motors 1.8 and 2.0. Even with proper maintenance and operation, the variator lives on average only 150,000 km. A full-fledged and qualified repair implies the obligatory replacement of many expensive parts, and the final restoration price tag reaches 120,000 rubles. Therefore, used CVTs are in great demand on the market. There are enough offers, and the price is tolerable - 60,000 rubles. The Lancer is equipped with a Japanese Jatco JF011E unit. They are equipped with Outlander and many models of the Renault-Nissan concern.

In addition to the negligence of the owners, the life of the whimsical transmission is greatly reduced by the poor location of its cooling radiator. On pre-styling models, it stands under the bumper, practically on the front left wheel fender liner, as a result, it quickly becomes overgrown with dirt - and the variator overheats. Therefore, the radiator has to be dismantled and washed before each summer season. There are pitfalls here - the unit is subject to corrosion. Even at the first removal of the hoses from its fittings, there is a high risk of breaking them, and by 120,000 km of run they completely rot away. The new radiator costs 20,000 rubles, so the servicemen picked up an analogue from Kia / Hyundai cars, which is almost three times cheaper.

Surprisingly, when the Lancer was restyled in 2010, the variator cooling radiator was removed altogether - as in the Outlander. The transmission began to overheat even more. Fortunately, the rescue scheme has been worked out: the radiator is placed in the former regular place, using the same Korean counterpart. Or they select a radiator that is suitable in terms of parameters and take it out in front of the main standard ones. In both cases, it will be necessary to replace the housing of the variator heat exchanger with a "pre-reform" one. In its modern version, it has only two outputs for the antifreeze lines circulating through the engine cooling system, and two more are needed for the new oil circuit.

It is very important to change the oil in the variator at least once every 90,000 km - this is with an oil cooler. If not, the interval should be halved. When replacing, it is advisable to remove the pallet in order to assess the amount of chips (wear products) on its bottom and on special magnets. This allows you to judge the health of the variator and roughly estimate how long it has left to live. They also assess the condition of used CVTs before purchasing them.

Will extend the life of the variator and careful operation. This type of transmission is especially afraid of shock loads (when the skidding wheels suddenly acquire good grip) and sharp accelerations.

Mitsubishi Lancer X

Five-speed manual gearboxes gears are available for all motors, but have design differences depending on the engine family. For engines 4A (1.5 and 1.6), one unit is used, for 4B (1.8 and 2.0) - another. Moreover, both boxes are reliable. But you can kill anything, so a note to careless owners: now the mechanics for the Lancer are more expensive than the variator for analysis - 75,000 rubles. The interval for oil change in boxes established by the manufacturer is 105,000 km.

Four-speed classic automatic already overgrown, but unkillable. It is available for motors 1.5 and 1.6. Servicemen could not remember the weak points of this box. It is recommended to change the oil at least once every 90,000 km.

OWNER'S WORD

Maria Mishulina, Mitsubishi Lancer X (2008, 1.8 L, 143 HP, 140,000 km)

I chose Lancer X because of its looks and because of my love for Japanese cars. I have a lot of experience with them, including right-hand drive. I bought the car in 2012 - with a mileage of 98,000 km and after two owners.

Before me the car was operated by my friend, so I was sure that her condition was good.

I was looking for a car with a variator - I like this transmission. In addition, the Lancer of this generation did not have other options combining a relatively powerful engine and an automatic machine. I know that the CVT is short-lived and expensive to repair, that's why I sold the car when the mileage reached 140,000 km. The transmission worked flawlessly, but I didn't want to risk it.

The car required only routine maintenance with the replacement of consumables. Alas, not without an accident. The damage to the front was minor, but the prices of the original parts were shocking. It's good that on Lancer you can always find parts for good money during the showdown.

Objective disadvantages: mediocre sound insulation, poor quality of interior trim and small trunk. Otherwise, Lancer was fine for me, and I disagree with the conventional wisdom that it is very outdated.

WORD TO THE SELLER

Alexander Bulatov, sales manager for used cars of the company "U Service +"

Lancer X pleases with high liquidity in the secondary market, despite the fact that against the background of more recent competitors, it is morally outdated. Age is clearly visible in the interior: boring design, cheap materials, poor sound insulation. But Lancer still clings with its appearance. All modifications are in good demand. Lancer expects its buyer for a reasonable price for a maximum of a week. The most popular are versions with 1.8 and 2.0 motors and a variator. Of course, the variator requires timely maintenance and competent operation, but it is more comfortable in the city with it.

The flip side of high liquidity is the increased attention of hijackers and an abundance of fraudulent sale advertisements. Focus on the prices of official dealers - this way you cut off the potentially dangerous segment of offers.

In general, the Lancer is a reliable and interesting car. It's not that hard to find specimens in good technical condition, even with decent mileage. However, in my opinion, the tenth generation is somewhat overrated in the aftermarket. You should not consider cars more expensive than 400,000 rubles, because within half a million you can buy cars of a higher class, for example, Ford Mondeo or Mazda 6.

Lancer X has established itself as a completely reliable car, and the cost of its maintenance is acceptable. Not without modifications dangerous for the wallet, first of all, with capricious transmissions. For almost nine years of life in Russia, the model has collected not the largest range of faults.

As a true cavalryman, "Ulan" (this is how the word lancer is translated from English) is not burdened with strong armor. The metal of the outer panels is not particularly thick, and the paintwork is not of outstanding durability: it is a piece of cake to have chips and scratches on the body. Shoes easily damage the paint on door sills, and pebbles damage the rear arches, which often peel off the protective anti-gravel film. But you need to start looking for real rust in older Lancers from the trunk! To "help" the condensate there comes outboard water seeping through the seals of the lanterns and wiring.

Over time, the Lancer becomes dim: the soft "glass" of the front optics requires delicate handling, the mirror elements of the fog lights fade with prolonged use, and the bulbs of dimensions and brake lights often go out. By the way, be especially careful when replacing the lamps in the rear lights: when dismantling, it is easy to chip off the corner of the light filter.

Good day to all!
Perhaps I'll start with the fact that you need a car for every day and, of course, so that breakdowns would not reach its owner (i.e. me), based on all this, I began to look more closely at the Mitsubishi Lancer 10, because the rest in this class of cars are from some kind of my own convictions are the least suitable, or simply not in my taste, and with a price tag of up to 450tk, you can't roam the market for used cars, except that AvtoVAZ will forgive me, but I've had enough.
Closer to the essence of my appeal to you: I ask you the owners once before, the owners to this day, and just those who are not by hearsay familiar with this car as much as possible, or just give an exhaustive answer to the fact that it is worth purchasing this model or nevertheless, it will be better to look at something more interesting and practical, it would also not be superfluous to hear which transmission for this car is more advantageous. I had already decided on the internal combustion engine and decided that 1.6 would be quite enough for me, since I do not need to drive and, by and large, there is simply nowhere, + to that, it is not uncommon for two small children to be in the car in addition to the wife.
PS- I will be very grateful to you for any information about whether to purchase or not, together with detailed descriptions

Hello everyone. I am also the owner of Lancer 10. I subscribe to what I wrote earlier. I have a 1.8 handle 4B10. 2008 I take care of the car in a timely manner, change the fluids, I have never failed. My own battery is still standing. The only thing I would recommend Anatolii32, try to find a Japanese woman. They seemed to be made for Russia until 2012. Our assembly and the Japanese are very different in everything. Although the used car depends on the owner. There is such a g ... but a fresh year. Yes, I remembered. The wiper motor only broke for me, but even then it was changed under warranty. By the way, the steering wheel is adjustable, there is a lever at the bottom of the steering wheel.
i recently changed the service belt and roller for a revocable company, the officials tried very hard to sew it off, so who before 2008 can safely register for Mitsubishi Motors and check by VIN code.
P.S. For a family with two children, the carriage is too small. We already feel cramped. Big + child locks on the back doors, my two angels often wanted to go out on the go

Lancers in Russia have never been assembled, the steering wheel is not regulated by the departure, only by the slope.

1.8 mt. I've been driving for 4 years (180 t.km. Dashed off myself) I don't even think about selling ... The car is excellent, strong, unpretentious, the service is adequate ...

Unkillable car, penny service. If you find 1 owner then count the jackpot) Take only 1.8MT if the mechanics do not bother you.

what's wrong with 1.6? I heard that it seems like on 10 lanes the problem with oil consumption was eliminated or maybe I'm wrong?

i went to 1.6. Doesn't knock at all. I go to 1.8 with firmware from Glans (acceleration is better at the bottom) So far enough for the city. If you ride quietly in the stream, then 1.6 is enough. Here the owner is a master.

So I don't need to tumble, the main thing is how reliable is the 1.6 engine?

I bought it a month ago. City consumption 8-9 liters. 6.5 on the highway. I only pour 95. The tank was enough for me for 10 days. I go mainly to work, from work and sometimes I go shopping with my wife. The only thing I personally lack in it is the climate. In Out the climate is. It's more comfortable with him. But this can be corrected if desired. And so the car is completely satisfied. Fuel consumption is especially pleasing.
(compared to Out 2.4). The small trunk does not scare me. In addition to food bags, I do not carry anything in it. Within 500,000 r, I think there is no better option. For the Corolla of the same 12 year they ask for much more. I see no reason to overpay. Lancer is no worse. And it's cheaper to maintain. So for daily city driving, the best option. And regarding the fact that the 1.6 engines are supposedly not durable, I will say this: you can break everything with a fool. If you drive constantly before the cut-off, you can knock any engine. So take it boldly, you will not regret it. Just take your time to grab the first one that comes along. There is always a choice. Good luck!

I have a two-liter, eats from 1-2 liters per mower, consumption is 12 in the city, the rear window heater relay recently caught fire (melted), before that I changed the longitudinal rear levers, well, I add oil there, etc. So far, everything is bad.
Take at least 1.8

I'll put in my 5 kopecks.
Advantages:

Now the cons:

A few words about prejudice.

Thank you, everything is quite informative

I'll put in my 5 kopecks.
Advantages:
1) The car is strong and heavy, 1410kg curb weight.
2) Due to its weight, the 1.6 engine will be weak, and in terms of consumption it is hardly distinguishable from 1.8.
3) Overclocking 1.6 on mechanics is on a par with my 1.8 on the variator. After 90 km / h, I go ahead.
4) Consumables are cheap, relative to classmates. As for AvtoVAZ, it is about 2 times more expensive (I compare it from the experience of owning a Prior in 2010), only everything breaks down much less often.
5) for 155 t.km. from serious expenses, excluding tuning and improvements, went through a month ago the suspension for 30t.rub. you could have fun and stretch it, but I decided to do everything right away, and the rest is consumables
6) The pluses include management and design.

Now the cons:
1) There is no noise isolation from the word at all. I made myself a complete Shumka, I'm happy.
2) The trunk is small. If you put a stroller in there, then the only thing to do is to insert the bags. This issue is solved in two ways: the full-fledged spare wheel for the stowaway is changed and the foam boxes are removed. The second option is a roof box. I am for the second option, I will not exchange a normal spare tire for a banana.
3) The steering wheel is not adjustable for departure
4) The seats are not very comfortable for a person with a sore back. My lower back begins to ache in the distant ones.

A few words about prejudice.
The variator lives 150 t.km. maximum. So say either those who got the already dead CVT, or the people of the class "not yours, so you are mad." My CVT is 155 t.km., and it is not going to die. And the declared resource (with proper care) is 250-300 t.km. Therefore, if you decide on a varik, then look carefully.
Oak plastic. For me, this is generally nonsense. As Davidich said, "You talk about a leather panel 2 times in your life. When you just bought a car to show off, and when you sell a car to increase the price"

i have 200k on my odometer, I'm the fourth owner, maybe the variator was spinning the flight is normal
i also wanted to ask how did you go through the whole hodovka for 30k?

I'll put in my 5 kopecks.

The once legendary Mitsubishi brand was blown away by the early 2000s and ceased to delight fans with drive and expressive cars. They were replaced by a measured generation without a striking design and outstanding performance. The tenth generation Lancer is an example of this transformation. Fans of the previous generation were disappointed: the “ten” became more complex in design, lost its former reliability, the ninth generation's agility and excitement disappeared. But the comfort became a higher class, and the appearance met the modern standards of automotive beauty at that time. Most of the sales came from the history of the model. How does the tenth generation come to the secondary market, we learn in the review of "Lancer".

The model has been sold in Russia since 2007. During this time, she went through two restyling - in 2011 and 2015. In 2017, Lancer ceased to exist altogether. Almost all models sold on the secondary market are sedans, but occasionally you can also find Hatch. Lancer IX was chosen for its budget and the absence of global problems over a long period of operation. The “ten” could not please those who moved to the older generation: it was no longer possible to travel several hundred thousand kilometers without investments. In Lancer X, it is not enough just to pour in new oil, it needs more serious care.

Engines

In the line of engines, the tenth generation had no unsuccessful ones. All serve 150-200 thousand km. before the first major renovation. Even a weak 1.5 liter, which is not suitable for a large sedan, does not break immediately. Yes, it will not be able to "give gas" and is only suitable for driving around the golf course, but it is not particularly demanding to repair. Included with it was a mechanical box, on which bearings flew every now and then and the electric power steering often failed.

Other gasoline engines are even better, more powerful and more reliable. The manufacturer offered a choice of: 1.5; 1.6; 1.8; 2.0 and 2.4 liters. They say that diesel units are also found on the secondary, but they are rarely found in ads.

The Lancer's motors were not without problem areas. On two-liter engines, the throttle valve becomes clogged, which causes the speed to jump at idle. For engines 1.8 and 2.0, the rollers of the attachment belt wear out by 65 thousand km, and the belt comes off them. All engines have a front crankshaft oil seal on a mileage of over 100 thousand km. This is fraught with failure of the crankshaft pulley, to which oil is leaking. To a hundred kilometers, the engine begins to hum excessively. This is a signal of the downpipe graphite ring subsidence.

Mechanical gearboxes do not cause any complaints, with the exception of the one that is paired with a 1.5-liter engine. 1.5 and 1.6 were also equipped with a conventional automatic: an old, unhurried and uneconomical, but reliable and "eternal" box. With these boxes, you only need to change the oil on time - by 60-80 thousand km. A variator was installed on motors 1.8 and 2.0. If the previous owner did not push the box with extreme driving, then there is nothing to be afraid of. In the heat and with a dashing driving style, oil boils in the box. Look for items that are regularly serviced and vendors who can confirm this. The Lancer has no other typical engine problems.

Body

Servicemen say that the thin layer of paint that was supplied to the tenth Lancers lasts quite a long time. The car is not prone to corrosion if there was no mechanical damage. If the chips were painted over blindly in dark garages, then corrosion will await the new owner under a layer of such body repair.

The ground clearance height is only 165 mm, so the "skirts" and body kits on "Lancers" are always scratched or even torn off. Size "Mitsubishi Lancer" in length - 4570 mm - standard for a sedan C-class. The trunk of "Lancer" will not fit so much - only 315 liters, which is significantly less than that of competitors.

Salon

The salon of the tenth Lancer remains in its original form for a long time. Partly, the point is that there is nothing remarkable and innovative within the top ten. Therefore, it will not work to determine the mileage on the interior.

Attractive and interesting interior design is not about the Lancer. Inside, the driver and passenger will feel minimalist: nothing more. Sometimes it is so ascetic that even the necessary will not be enough. The plastic inside is hard and matte.

The second row of seats is comfortable. There is enough legroom even for tall passengers, which cannot be said about the space above your head. The back sofa is designed for three, but only slim and low fellow travelers will be comfortable.

Chassis

The suspension of the "ten" is noticeably more pleasant than that of the previous generation: it resiliently passes bumps and jumps over the "speed bumps". But in turns, the car is not able to keep the road, heels in all directions. And this is not at all what you expect from the heir to the legendary rally past.

According to the owners of the "Lancer", after 45 thousand km you have to change the native stabilizer bushings, 70 thousand km - the rear silent blocks. By 90 thousand, stabilizer struts and front shock absorbers "die". It's good if the previous owner chose high-quality analogs, and they go through the same amount.

In the rear suspension, the outer silent blocks of wishbones are the first to be rented out - already by 90 thousand km. The rest of the parts live up to 150 thousand km.

Buy Lancer X or not

You have to be lucky and lucky to find an acceptable used Mitsubishi Lancer. In an attempt to resemble the heroes from the movies, the owners pumped in the "tens" to the maximum, even if it was a 1.5-liter engine. As a result, the market is full of cars after an accident of varying severity, with dead engines and tired boxes. Perhaps this is the main disadvantage of Mitsubishi Lancer of the anniversary and last generation.

The average cost of used Lancers is 381 thousand rubles for earlier models and 407.5 thousand rubles for newer ones. For this money, for example, a 2007 model is sold. with a mileage of 160 thousand km on a two-liter engine with 150 "horses":

We found another option - more expensive: a bright restyled 2012 Lancer X with a 1.6 and 117 hp engine. from.:

According to the Autocode check, this blue handsome is sold with a full set of unwanted problems:

  • The car has been in at least four officially registered accidents.
  • According to the official calculations of the insurance company, the car needed repair for 1.8 million rubles.
  • There are four registration restrictions imposed on the car, prohibiting registration for a new owner;
  • Two unpaid fines "hang" on the car.

Fans of the brand are used to not spending money on maintenance, so it is happiness to meet a car with quality care. Most of the copies have already used up their resource and are therefore being sold.

When buying, double-check everything three times. And be sure to take the car for a full diagnosis. Be carefull!

Lancer's electrical equipment is nowhere easier. But after 3-5 years, an expensive ($ 90) fan motor of the "stove" can begin to howl and hum in a Zhiguli manner - the most unpleasant thing is that it breaks down, as a rule, in winter. It happens that the drive for adjusting the mirrors, the heated seats, the climate changes, the audio installation stalls or turns off the display, and cars older than 2009 were even called for a service campaign to replace the front impact sensors: the airbags could have worked incorrectly. After 80-100 thousand "city" kilometers, it happens that the buttons on the steering wheel go on strike: the rings of the wiring loop ($ 30) of the steering column are frayed with roller contacts.

Mitsubishi Lancer X can be called the bestseller of our market without any stretch. And at the moment we can say that not only new cars are in high demand, but also those that have already managed to drive around the vastness of our homeland. In a sense, used Mitsubishi Lancer X looks even preferable. They still have a modern look, but they are quite reasonable money. But is it expensive to maintain and repair a used Mitsubishi Lancer X? This is what we will try to figure out.

Japanese car paintwork is traditionally weak. It does not resist the aggressive effects of the external environment very well, so on most Lancer Xs you will easily see numerous chips and small scratches. Another thing is that even after a few winters, chips are in no hurry to be covered with a red coating of rust. So the body iron of the Mitsubishi Lancer X is definitely not prone to corrosion.

The interior of a Japanese car at first glance seems quite nice, but in fact it turns out that due to the hard plastic it constantly creaks. And the rest of the finishing materials leave much to be desired. The leather on the steering wheel and inserts for aluminum most often lose their presentation by the time they have driven 80-100 thousand kilometers. But for the work of an electrician in the Mitsubishi Lancer X, even with all the desire to make any claims, it will not work. It works reliably. Only sometimes the fuel gauge starts to "glitch", but most owners simply do not notice this problem.

As for the gasoline engines offered for the Mitsubishi Lancer X, their common feature is that they all have a timing chain drive. The chain, as mechanics assure, can withstand about 300 thousand kilometers, so you can generally forget about its existence. But you will have to remember about "sweating" crankshaft oil seals. Most often, this problem arises after 100-130 thousand kilometers. Many owners are in no hurry to change the oil seals, but in this case there is a risk after a while to change the much more expensive damper pulley of the drive belts. It is on him that oil gets from leaking oil seals. Also, most owners of Lancer X, after a run of 60-80 thousand kilometers, will have to change the exhaust pipe O-ring. After another 40-60 thousand kilometers, oxygen sensors will require replacement.

If we talk not about all engines in general, but about specific power units, then the weakest 1.5-liter gasoline engine should be recognized as the least successful. The dynamics of a car with it is not very good, but even worse is that by a run of 100-150 thousand kilometers, this engine begins to consume oil, the consumption of which can reach one liter per 3-4 thousand kilometers. And all because of the occurrence of the rings. There are no complaints about the rest of the power units.

When choosing a gearbox, it is worth starting from the fact that in terms of reliability, they are approximately equal. "Mechanics", which is most often installed on cars with the weakest power units, can upset the current drive oil seals and the failure of the first gear synchronizer. This happens to a run of 50-70 thousand kilometers. An automatic gearbox and a variator are better in this regard, but it is worthwhile to understand that their possible repair, and sooner or later it will be required, will cost much more than repairing the "mechanics".

The Mitsubishi Lancer X's suspension is tough, yet completely reliable. Every 70-80 thousand kilometers it will have to change the front shock absorbers, and after another 20-30 thousand kilometers it will be the turn of the rear shock absorbers. Approximately 60-80 thousand kilometers on a Japanese car is estimated to be the resource of bushings and anti-roll bar struts. The bearings of the front struts, front and rear wheel bearings can withstand about 90-120 thousand kilometers. Suspension arms can withstand up to 150 thousand kilometers, and by a run of 200 thousand kilometers, the heavily sagging rear springs will have to be changed.

There are no special complaints about the steering of Mitsubishi Lancer X. Steering rods and tips can withstand 70-80 thousand kilometers without any problems, and the steering rack begins to leak only after a run of 100-120 thousand kilometers.

The reliability of the braking system of a Japanese car can also be highly appreciated. Leaving aside the planned replacement of brake discs and pads, it turns out that the brake system will have to be remembered only when the calipers begin to emit extraneous sounds. This usually happens to a run of 50 thousand kilometers.

So is people's love for Mitsubishi Lancer X justified? Quite. This is a truly reliable car that, with proper maintenance, will serve its owner faithfully for many years. As for the shortcomings, the Lancer X has practically none when compared with its main competitors. So to buy a used Mitsubishi Lancer X, if you do not forget about diagnostics before buying, you can safely.

Mitsubishi Lancer X is very common on Ukrainian roads. He is loved for the moderately aggressive design and the notorious Japanese reliability. But there are "dozens" and disadvantages - we'll talk about them in more detail.

Mitsubishi Lancer X was successfully sold in Ukraine from 2007 to 2016. Now these machines are estimated by sellers from $ 5,500 to $ 12,000. Most of them, despite their decent mileage, are in fair condition. But there are several weak points to look out for.

Mitsubishi Lancer body

Sufficiently "fresh" Lancers do not yet suffer from ginger disease, unless they have been beaten and restored poorly after that. But additional anti-corrosion treatment will not harm this car. Most often, small foci of corrosion appear in the front of the thresholds. It is not easy to notice them, since the thresholds are covered with plastic overlays. You just need to look there before buying.

Lancer X Motors

Almost all Lancers sold in Ukraine were equipped with 1.5 and 2.0 liter gasoline engines. Both have a timing chain drive that is maintenance-free and trouble-free. A common problem with both engines is the increased oil consumption after 150-200 thousand kilometers. Occasionally, mainly due to untimely replacement of spark plugs, problems arise with ignition coils and high-voltage wires. Non-original coils cost $ 30-60, and more than $ 100 are asked for the original.

In Ukraine, the most common petrol engines with a volume of 1.5 and 2.0 liters.

Also on the run about 200 thousand km. the catalyst fails. Usually it is simply removed, but after that the engine control unit requires a flashing ($ 50-100). But there is also a budget solution - the installation of "bogus". This simple device costs 10-20 dollars.

Mitsubishi Lancer gearboxes

Manual transmissions have proved to be very reliable - experts do not remember any problems with their operation. The normal clutch resource is 80-120 thousand km. the cost of replacing it even with a non-original is $ 200-250. Genuine parts are even more expensive.

A manual transmission and a shift drive provide no problems

The role of the machine on the Mitsubishi Lancer X was played by a variator. It has also proven itself to be a very reliable unit. All costs for it are reduced to periodic oil changes every 90 thousand kilometers. True, a filling volume of about 10 liters and high requirements for oil quality raise the cost of such an operation to $ 200-250.

Mitsubishi Lancer X Suspension

In general, the Mitsubishi Lancer X's suspension is quite strong. Front shock absorbers on our roads are capable of nursing 100-120 thousand km. The cost of replacing them with non-original, but high-quality analogs is about $ 200. Ball joints and silent blocks, which also have a resource of about 100 thousand km, experts recommend changing along with the levers. A pair of original levers will cost around $ 200-300. Non-original - half the price.

Front suspension is simple and reliable enough

More often - every 40-50 thousand runs require replacement of the thrust and front stabilizer bushings. The budget for such an event is $ 50-100, depending on the "originality" of the details.
