Ural piston stroke. Ural motorcycle engine tuning: detailed information

At one time, the brainchild of the Irbit plant was in great demand. An excellent assistant in agriculture and serving as an excellent alternative to the car, the Ural had the ability to move on any road surface. At the moment, the plant has stopped producing motorcycles. This happened due to a banal economic downturn. In recent decades, the assembly of the Ural motorcycle engine has become an analogue of the German BMW-R71, as well as the stubborn rival of the Dnieper.

The engine of the Ural motorcycle, the technical characteristics of which may well compete with the new generation motorcycles, is subject to severe wear and tear. Therefore, owners often have to independently sort out all the parts and replace them.

The Soviet bike is considered a heavy motorcycle designed for rural work and transportation of goods. At the same time, it has relatively small, but sufficient indicators. Ural motorcycle engine on the Solo model, produces 40 horsepower... And when forcing, you can achieve 55 hp. The maximum speed of the bike is 110 km / h. For such power, this is a rather modest figure, because the weight of the motorcycle greatly affects the speed. However, the acceleration is fast and the dynamics of the bike are very pleasant for the rider.

The engine capacity of the Ural motorcycle is 745 cc, which makes it one of the largest in Russian production. Wherein the torque reaches about 4000 rpm... Such engines are typical for motors with a gearbox, rather than for boxer ones.

Features:

Some models have hydraulic brakes. It is located at the rear of the wheel on the hub and ensures confident braking even at high speeds. The style of the bike is adjusted to the wartime, especially the mirrors and the fuel tank.

The engine of the Urals, a motorcycle whose characteristics do not differ only in power, has a number of advantages. Good cross-country ability due to a force commensurate with the mass, allows you to easily move on loose or even wet soil. Therefore, movement in forest areas will not be difficult. Moreover, the Irbit plant has provided excellent resistance to climatic conditions. The engine starts even at -30 degrees. However, in hot weather with prolonged use, overheating may occur. For such cases, motorists install forced cooling of the motorcycle engine.

Repair and maintenance

Hearing another knock on the engine, the owners of the Russian motorcycle understand that the evening will be held in the company of an iron friend. So with the Urals, frequent malfunctions is one of the features of the bike.
Here are the main engine problems and their causes:

  1. The engine will not start. This happens in cases when:
  • no fuel is supplied to the carburetor (clogging of the fuel supply system);
  • there is no spark from a candle (breakage, carbon deposits or other reasons);
  • violation of compression (lack of clearance in the valves, leaky fit or malfunction of the rings).
  • Interruptions in work happen for the following reasons:
    • uneven flow of fuel;
    • water ingress;
    • blockage in the fuel mixing system;
    • problems with candles;
    • violation of the integrity of the wiring;
    • capacitor breakdown;
    • excess amount of gasoline entering the air-fuel mixture.
  • The knocking in the engine occurs due to the following reasons:
    • early sparking;
    • severe overheating of the motor;
    • problems with pistons and rings (grindings, chips, loose fit, etc.).

    At the first sign of breakdown, it is worth repairing the engine. Failure to do so may exacerbate the situation and the cost of the repair.
    To avoid malfunctions, observe the rules of operation and maintenance of the motorcycle. It is even important how much oil to pour into the Ural motorcycle engine. Excess will interfere with work, and a deficiency will contribute to wear on parts. It is also necessary replace filters regularly, gaskets and other consumables.

    Overall, IMZ has produced an excellent bike suitable for people of all ages. It is designed for both work and play. If you have a desire to buy a motorcycle for yourself - Ural will be an excellent option for a small budget.

    Conclusion

    Several points can be noted that popularized the truck in question, both in the army and for civilian purposes. First, the Ural-4320 is not afraid of absolutely no off-road conditions, it has a high cross-country ability and carrying capacity. Secondly, it is unpretentious in maintenance, operation and repair. In addition, this vehicle is versatile, capable of transporting military, civilian cargo, heavy towing devices and about 30-35 people.

    It should be noted that manufacturers are constantly working to improve the "Urals". A vehicle for the army is considered an efficient and productive vehicle. In addition to the fact that the truck has a lot of power, the armored variations are designed to protect personnel from being hit by charges from small and medium arms (the third category of protection). In civilian use, the machine is indispensable for northern regions and areas with difficult terrain.

    Ural 4320 is a dual-use truck. Its production is carried out at the Ural Automobile Plant, located in Miass. The main application of the Ural 4320 was found in the country's armed forces, but was often used in other areas as well.

    Car production continues at the present time. The latest generation is equipped with YMZ diesel units of various capacities that meet the Euro-4 environmental class.

    In comparison with similar models, the Ural 4320 stands out with a number of advantages. Thanks to the 6 by 6 wheel arrangement, the machine has increased cross-country ability. The four-wheel drive vehicle easily navigates large holes, up to 58-degree inclines, wetlands and ditches. In the period of snow drifts and spring thaw it turns out to be irreplaceable. Due to this, Ural 4320 remains in demand today.

    Model history and purpose

    The production of models of the Ural 4320 line began in November 1977. The release of the series in a noticeably modernized form continues at the present time. The predecessor of the car was the Ural 375D, which debuted back in 1961. With this model, the Ural 4320 was unified in a variety of elements. Initially, the car was equipped with a gasoline unit with high fuel consumption (about 40-48 liters per 100 km), which was considered its main disadvantage. Diesel versions of the truck (with a KamAZ engine) appeared only in 1978. Moreover, their number in the first years of production was limited. However, the plant gradually switched to the mass installation of Kama diesel engines in the Ural 4320. This was the main difference between the first generation of the model and the Ural 375D.

    The construction of the Ural 4320 was based on a load-bearing frame providing high strength. Single-tire tires, four-wheel drive and short overhangs ensured good cross-country ability of the car.

    In 1986, the truck was updated. At the same time, the appearance of the model has remained practically unchanged. The motor gamut has not undergone significant changes either. The main unit was the KamAZ-740 engine. It was used until 1993. However, after a fire at the manufacturing plant, supplies of the power plant stopped. Instead, the Ural 4320 was equipped with engines from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant (YaMZ-238 and YaMZ-236). Initially, modifications with YaMZ-238 stood out with a long compartment for the engine, versions with YaMZ-236 retained their previous forms. However, since the mid-2000s, all variations of the Ural 4320 have received an extended engine compartment.

    In the mid-1990s, the truck underwent a restyling. The car was equipped with a wide bumper with headlights; plastic plugs were installed on the wings in the same place where the headlights were attached. For the needs of the Ministry of Defense, cars with a narrow bumper were still produced. In 1996, the production of a lightweight version of the Ural 43206 with two axles began.

    The next update took place in 2009. The car has noticeably changed, having received a modernized cab with fiberglass plumage in front. The shapes of the Ural 4320 have become more streamlined. The classic radiator grille with vertical lines has been replaced by a grille with horizontal lines on some versions. On some modifications the cabover type Iveco "P" from the JV UralAZ-IVECO was installed. It was distinguished by the original rounded integral bonnet tail. The previous units were replaced with modern diesel engines YaMZ-536 and YaMZ-6565, corresponding to the Euro-4 standard.

    In 2014, the Ural 4320 series was transformed into the Ural-M series with most of its characteristics retained. In the fall of 2015, another modernization took place. It resulted in the appearance of the Ural Next series, which was distinguished by a modern GAZelle Next cab with a new plastic tail of the engine compartment and improved components.

    Ural 4320 modifications:

    1. Ural 4320 - chassis with a base metal cab with a lifting capacity of 7000-9000 kg;
    2. Ural 4320-19 - long-wheelbase chassis with a carrying capacity of 12,000 kg;
    3. Ural 43203 - chassis with reinforced front suspension;
    4. Ural 43204 - chassis with increased carrying capacity;
    5. Ural 44202 - truck tractor;
    6. Ural 43206 - chassis with a wheel arrangement 4 by 4.

    For the URAL automobile plant, the Ural 4320 remains the base model. This truck is highly practical and designed specifically for the needs of the army. The main sphere of its application is the armed forces. However, the machine is also used in utilities, forestry, construction, mining and commercial segments. Here it is in demand as a cross-country vehicle used to transport people and equipment.

    Ural-4320 is a dual-purpose off-road truck with a 6 × 6 wheel arrangement, manufactured at the Ural Automobile Plant in Miass (Russia), including for use in the armed forces in the family of unified army vehicles "Susha" until 1998. Thanks to good unification, most truck parts have been borrowed from previous models.

    Ural-4320 has been designed to transport goods, people and trailers on all types of roads. It has significant advantages compared to similar vehicles: it easily overcomes swampy areas, fords up to 1.5 m, ditches up to 2 m, ditches, rises up to 60 ‰. For 1986, more than a million trucks were produced. To date, Ural is produced with a diesel 230/300 hp engine (Euro-2).

    Story

    Production started in 1977, and this truck is still in production today.

    The main difference from the Ural-375D line is the presence of a diesel engine.

    Initially, the Ural-4320 was equipped with a KamAZ-740 engine, but as a result of a fire at the KamAZ engine plant in 1993, the deliveries of this engine were stopped, and the YaMZ-236 and YaMZ-238 engines of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant began to be used. Initially, modifications with a YaMZ-238 engine differed in their outwardly longer engine compartment, and cars with a YaMZ-236 engine retained the same engine compartment as in cars with a KAMAZ-740 engine (the difference is that cars with YaMZ-236 have an air filter on the right wing). Since the mid-2000s, all cars, regardless of engine model, have been produced with an extended engine compartment.

    Since the mid-1990s, a wide bumper with headlights has appeared on the Ural-4320 and Ural-5557, and plastic plugs have appeared in the wings, at the old headlight attachment points. However, exclusively for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, by special order, cars with a narrow bumper and headlights in the wings are still supplied.

    Since 2009, a new cab with fiberglass front empennage has been installed on cars of the series.
