Make Movil. How to use Movil with rust converter and how to choose the right one? The main features of the tool Molville

It is much easier to prevent such a problem as the appearance of corrosion than to then hastily patch up holes using welding. Today, many motorists use a remedy such as Movil to prevent the formation of rust, which has already proven itself in this matter. But at the same time, not all motorists know how to properly apply such an anti-corrosion compound.

What is Movil

Most cars call almost any anti-corrosion compound as Movil. But what is a Movil for a car in the original version? This tool must necessarily contain the following components:

  • substances that prevent corrosion;
  • drying oil;
  • engine oil.

If the anti-rust agent has a different composition or has additional components in its composition, then it can no longer be called Movil. The original "Movil" remedy was invented more than a dozen years ago.

Scientific institutes from Moscow and Vilnius took part in its development, as a result, the tool received such a name.

For more than half a century, Movil has remained one of the most favorite anti-rust remedies for motorists. This popularity is due to the acceptable combination of quality and price. Before considering the issue of applying the product to the car body, you need to figure out what types of Movil are on sale today.

Varieties of Movil

It is possible to find three types of Movil on sale:

  1. Spray can differs in convenience and simplicity of application to the body. Most motorists choose an aerosol formulation. However, it should be borne in mind that the price for 250 - 300 ml of the product ranges from 450 to 650 rubles (depending on the manufacturer). Therefore, processing the entire body will not be cheap. The main disadvantage of the aerosol is that you have to keep the can upright during the spraying process.
  2. Movil in liquid form is the most inexpensive. The price for 3 liters of funds in a canister ranges from 300 to 400 rubles (it all depends on the manufacturer). With this tool, it is quite easy to process all internal metal parts of the body. For the convenience of applying liquid Movil, a special spherical nozzle is used; it comes with the product.
  3. Movil in the form of a paste can be found in plastic and cans. Its price is 200 rubles for 860 gr. On the surface of the body, such a product is applied using a brush. To treat internal cavities, it is necessary to mix the paste with a solvent.

After the agent is selected, you can proceed to the preparation of the body for its subsequent processing.

We prepare the body

Most often, the anti-corrosion treatment is carried out on the underside of the car. It is this part of the body that is susceptible to rust and destruction. Especially often the bottom of the car suffers in regions with high humidity. The lower part of the car suffers from all sorts of mechanical damage. It is possible to perform anti-corrosion treatment on the following body elements:

  • floor thresholds;
  • door pockets;
  • spars;
  • lantern housings;
  • arches (front and rear);
  • central racks.

It is necessary to make a thorough preparation of all the listed elements. You can take for these purposes a special portable car wash, to which detergents are added. Such a car wash will clean not only dirt, but also oil deposits.

When thorough cleaning is complete, you need to completely get rid of the remaining moisture. In summer, you can just dry your car in the sun. If it is cold or damp outside, this will require a compressor. With the help of blowing it is possible to remove the remaining moisture on the surface of the body, and then freely apply the solution to the desired elements.

After completing the work on cleaning the body, you need to carefully inspect the entire paintwork of the body. In places where there is swelling or peeling of the coating, you need to clean it with coarse sanding paper. In the same way, special cleaning will be required in those places where there are foci of corrosion.

Without careful preparation, Movil cannot be applied with high quality.

As soon as the stripping of the body is completely completed, you need to apply any Movil rust converter to it. If Movil is used with a rust converter, then this item can be skipped.

How should Movil be applied?

Handling a car with Movil is quite simple. To do this, it is not at all necessary to go to the service station. You can completely get by with the conditions of the garage. If the preparation was done correctly, then Movil will be applied quite easily, and the protective coating will last for more than one year.

No expensive equipment is required to apply the anti-corrosion agent. It is enough to choose the right tool - it depends on what type of coating will be used. A spray bottle is required to cover the body with liquid Movil. If there is no liquid or thinner available, Movil can be applied with a small brush. It is quite easy to dilute the composition. For these purposes, use the well-known "White Spirit" or solvent No. 646.

It is the solvent that will help you choose the right consistency of the anti-corrosion compound. If the solution is too liquid, then it will drain from the surface, but if it is too thick, then it will not be possible to lay it in an even layer or fill in hard-to-reach places with it.

Movil is applied in an even thin layer on a carefully prepared surface. But you can use the car only after a few days from the moment the anticorrosive was applied.

What precautions should you take?

When processing the agent, the following safety measures must be observed:

  1. For the safe operation of a car after processing, you need to know how long it takes for Movil to dry. On average, the smell in the salon lasts three days after application. During this time, you should not get into the car, so as not to get serious poisoning.
  2. When applying, keep in mind that Movil produces poisonous vapors. It is easy to get poisoning if inhaled. Therefore, it is recommended to apply the composition in a well-ventilated area.
  3. When Movil gets into the eyes, mucous membranes, skin of the hands or face of other parts of the body during processing, it is possible to get a serious burn. It is important to work with this composition only in closed clothing. It is advisable to wear a respirator. This will protect yourself from inhaling toxic fumes. Also use protective gloves for work.
  4. When applying the product with an aerosol or spray, do not forget to wear special protective glasses.

Increasing the corrosion resistance of the car body is an important issue of concern to any motorist. The modern level of painting, priming or cataphoresis treatment of metal allows manufacturers to declare with confidence a guarantee for 5, or even 10 years against through corrosion. However, the use of more and more aggressive reagents in winter, as well as the constant mechanical effect on the paintwork, especially in the area of the arches and the bottom, makes it necessary to resort to additional processing of the body.

The market for anti-corrosion materials is very wide, but such material as Movil enjoys well-deserved recognition, which, together with a low price, puts it in first place in popularity in our country.

There is a practice of using the concept of "Movil" as a collective term denoting all materials for anti-corrosion treatment of a car, which is fundamentally wrong.

Movil for cars is, first of all, a preservative that prevents metal from contacting moisture and air, which effectively prevents corrosion. It got its name in honor of the cities of Moscow and Vilnius, in whose research institutes it was developed.

The main components of this material are engine oil, drying oil, due to which Movil has a characteristic yellowish-brown hue), and corrosion inhibitors. To obtain a substance with an optimal viscosity for application with a spray or brush, kerosene or white spirit is added to Movil. It should be noted that the first one disappears faster, which allows you to quickly get rid of the characteristic odor after processing in the car, but the second one allows the protective layer to retain its plasticity longer and not undergo drying and cracking.

Movil for cars - how to use

The best way to use Movil is to apply it to arches, welds and into hidden cavities of a new car, since application to a surface that is already prone to corrosion will not solve the problem, but only slow down its development.

The main requirement that must be observed regardless of the type of surface, its location and method of application is the absence of moisture, since if it is not met, you can personally ensure the formation of a corrosion center by conserving water under a layer of protective material.

Movil is applied to the cleaned surface by spraying or smearing, and it is very important to choose the right consistency by adding a solvent. Too thick mixture will not penetrate into the weld seam, will not lie tightly and evenly on the surface, and excessively plastic or even fluid will simply drain from the surface.

Do not forget that the consistency of Movil for a car is very dependent on temperature, so it is better to work in a warm room, this will eliminate the need for excessive plasticization. In extreme heat and under the influence of direct sunlight, the material liquefies, flows down from the surface and multiplies the smell, this is another reason why it is not recommended to add too much solvent.

The situation with Movil in the form of an aerosol can is much simpler, since the consistency has already been selected, and no additional application devices are required. In this case, the treatment must be repeated in several stages, as the applied layers solidify, since the thickness of the anti-corrosion material is extremely small during spraying.

In addition, efficient but quick-drying sprays are used for aerosol spraying, so the durability of the protective layer is usually less.

Hidden cavities are best treated by the method of extrusion, that is, by pumping the anti-corrosion material under pressure through a metal tube, since spraying and smearing will not allow it to be evenly distributed.

It must be remembered that after application, the car must not be operated for at least 24 hours. During this time, Movil should thicken, which will ensure good adhesion to the surface. Additional drying is not required. There should not be a complete drying of the drug, since this is the main guarantee of its effective work; over time, Movil thickens and becomes elastic, but not completely dry.

  • ribs of rigidity of the hood and trunk lid;
  • spars;
  • cavities of the front and rear arches;
  • door pockets;
  • headlight covers;
  • central body pillars;
  • floor thresholds.

It is not advisable to process open surfaces subject to atmospheric or mechanical influences, for example, the bottom of a car, since an anti-gravel coating is used for such places.

There is a misconception that a Movil for a car can contribute to the galvanizing of parts, which is why some motorists add up to 25% zinc oxide to its composition, which does not in any way affect the anti-corrosion resistance of the metal, since the action of Movil is based on preservation, and the inhibitors included in it neutralize corrosion. no electrolytic dissociation occurs in this case.

Do not rely on the assurances of marketers that Movil with a rust converter does not require preliminary surface treatment. The concentration of the converter or inhibitor in it is not enough to eliminate the centers of corrosion, and it is intended to increase the effectiveness of protection, and not to eliminate rust.

Precautionary measures

When performing work, it is necessary to ensure good ventilation, as well as take fire safety measures, since Movil contains flammable components. Avoid contact with the skin and especially the mucous surfaces of the eyes or nasopharynx, otherwise you should immediately consult a doctor.

Avoid getting Movil on plastic and rubber parts, as it has a negative effect on them. The preparation is completely safe for paintwork, however, stains of cured Movil are difficult to remove. Therefore, use caution when applying.

In order to avoid a situation where excess Movil flows down to the garage floor (in addition to the obvious sanitary disadvantages, it is also a combustible material), it is recommended to leave the car for several hours in the sun or in a room with a temperature of more than 24 hours after processing. 25 degrees, after placing it on polyethylene. As already mentioned, under the influence of high temperatures, the Movil will soften and the excess will drain through the drainage holes in the cavities, after which they can be closed.

It should be remembered that in order to ensure effective protection of the metal, it is necessary to inspect the state of the anti-corrosion coating every few months. If the Movil for a car has hardened, lost its plasticity and even cracked, it is urgent to repeat the processing procedure with a careful adjustment of its composition. To remove the old layer, you can use the same solvent that was used to select the consistency, or a bitumen stain remover.

Thus, subject to all the rules and requirements, Movil is able to provide your car with reliable protection for little money. This car preservative can still guarantee a high level of corrosion resistance of your car body at the level of foreign analogues.

An article about Movil: varieties, selection rules, working with Movil - tips and important recommendations. At the end of the article - a video on how to "move" a car.

The content of the article:

The underbody of a car is most susceptible to corrosion, moisture and road dirt accumulate on it. We do not see what state it is in due to its inaccessibility. Therefore, a rusty underbody is one of the most common problems on the body. To put an end to the formation of rust once and for all, it is necessary to treat problem areas with anti-corrosion agents, among which Movil stands out.

There are several different types of anticorrosives that are popular with car enthusiasts. Most used anti-gravel, which are small cans filled with an expensive substance containing rubber to hold the bottom elements together. Applied by spraying.

Remain Movili, which consist of numerous additives, engine oil and drying oil... Such a composition is patented, therefore, other mixtures and proportions can no longer be called Movily - they are distinguished by their low cost and ease of application. However, over time, the treated layers are washed off, which leads to the need to process the body again.

Such a classification assumes division into several types:
  • spray;
  • liquid;
  • paste.
The spray bottle or aerosol is supplied in 500 ml cans. One can will cost 4-5 dollars and will be very useful when covering the sills and arches of a problem body. Basically, the balloon is equipped with an additional tube that will help when covering hard-to-reach surfaces. If there is no tube, you will have to get a pistol or a reel, but only liquid substances can spray the pistol.

The disadvantage of the sprayer is the need to maintain an upright position. You will notice this when less than half of the contents of the can remains.

The liquid is supplied in cans. A container with a 3-liter Movil will cost $ 6-7. Liquid Movil is much easier to use than a spray bottle. You will need to get a brush or even a sponge with which you can apply anti-corrosion material.

When used, liquid Movil is poured into a pistol or into another container, but with a wider mouth. The remaining preservative is poured into the canister. The liquid agent has a sufficient viscosity, so it is useful when processing hard-to-reach surfaces, as well as the bottom. The liquid preservative has no significant drawbacks.

Movil paste is distributed in metal or plastic jars. The average cost of a jar of 800 grams is about $ 4. The area of use for the paste is the same as for the liquid. The paste has a higher viscosity, therefore it must be diluted with solvent 646 - this is done right before starting processing.

The paste can be used to treat any body surface (arches, sills, pillars), since it also has no significant drawbacks.

In addition to the classic Movil formula, some manufacturers are trying to add something from themselves in the form of one or another additive. This somewhat changes the properties of the anticorrosive, but also significantly affects the cost of the coating. The following compositions are distinguished:
  • normal Movil without additives;
  • composition with the addition of zinc;
  • composition with the addition of corrosion converters.
We will not consider the usual Movil, but we will pay more attention to its modifications.

Zinc movil is distinguished by the fact that before using it, it is not necessary to remove corrosion - damaged areas are immediately treated with a movil containing zinc, which will remain even after coating. The zinc coating will significantly increase the service life of the body elements, since it will provide additional protection during the movement of the car.

An additional advantage of a zinc-containing preservative is its protection from salt reagents that corrode paint during the autumn-winter period.

The corrosion converter as part of Movil eats away rust on its own, so no sandpaper or grinder is required before processing.

Advantages of modified Moviles:

  • it will take less time to process surfaces;
  • less financial costs;
  • less laborious to work with.
The only drawback of modifications is the higher cost.

When applying the coating, you will be convinced of another advantage of Movil - it is very easy to process body elements with it. Most of the work can be done on your own without the use of additional help.

The only thing is that if you are allergic to strong odors, you will have to entrust the work to someone else, since the substance emits a specific aroma. That is why it is necessary to process body elements on the street or in a well-ventilated room.

If you are using a regular Movil, you will need to get rid of the dirt and then the corrosion before starting the treatment. This can be done with classic abrasive tools such as an emery cloth, grinder or sander. A corrosion solvent that can be applied with a brush or sponge is also useful.

Once the corrosion has been removed, rinse the treated areas and leave for a while to allow the moisture to dry. And when the surface is already dry and without corrosion, you can start processing it with Movil.

These simple actions with the car body are carried out every year before the first snow falls. Even if you don't see any rusty spots, anticorrosive treatment won't hurt at all. Constant processing with Movil will help to save the car from corrosion and increase the service life of its most capricious elements without pronounced cash costs.

Video on how to "move" a car:

Movil- a very high quality wax coating that insulates the metal surface from air and moisture, because it containscorrosion inhibitor, which also actively fights rust. In it you can find special additives that give it flow properties, because of which it can easily penetrate into small cracks, seams and joints, and it is also able to push water from painted and unpainted surfaces.

Movil - a wonderful tool to protect from rust places that are hidden (thresholds, door housings, pillars, side members), as well as for temporary protection of the bottom of the body and wheel arches (it is advised to carry it out when the car is put on storage). Movil can be used on surfaces already treated with bitumen mastic, he condenses her from the outside and gets into damaged places, excellentcanning metal... But you should know that Movil is incompatible with synthetic mastics, especially with fresh coatings, which it can spoil. Be careful not to get wax on rubber hoses and car protective covers - they may then be unusable.

From the previous reduction "Moscow-Vilnius" there are only memories of some drivers. "Movil" has become a name todaycommon noun, which denotes a class of certain drugs designed to protect automotive cavities. And if so, then the question of the selling "What" Movil "to you?" will be usual for you, since each manufacturer has its own opinion about this product. Let's find out how these judgments can protect metal from rust.

For our tests, we managed to purchase 7 "Moviles" produced by various companies in Russia, Lithuania and Belarus. Car items 1 and 7 are packed in aerosol containers, the rest are in bottles. During the tests, expertsappreciated Movilby several parameters. We will have 12 of them.

The content of the active substance is an indirect indicator of the "environmental friendliness" of an automobile product: the bigger, the better ... The dropping point proves the film's resistance to heat: the higher it is, the better, again. Heat resistance as a quality characterizes the ability of Movil not to go out through technological holes from the protected boundaries when using the machine. No effect on paintwork. "Raising through a micro-gap" indicates the penetrating properties of the product - they are checked through two tightly compressed steel plates, the edge of one of which will be immersed in the Movil.Good anticorrosiveshould reach a height of at least fifty mm.

Water penetrating into the hidden cavities of the body necessarily brings with it corrosive substances -from salt to mud... Taking this into account, the protective effect of drugs for latent sections should displace water and electrolyte from the metal surface and help the formation of a special protective film on the metal, which interferes with the electrolyte. When testing for water displacement, the quality criterion is the diameter of the water "puddle" into which the drug is injected - the norm is not less than sixty mm, and the measurements are carried out 3 times.

If rust appears on the metal, then it is very important that the protective material penetrates into the rust itself andprevented corrosion from increasing... To assess these properties, experts impregnate a column of rust with a preparation with a height of 25 mm and a diameter of 10 mm - the amount of penetration of anticorrosive material should be at least 8 mm. And they draw their own conclusions.

The most dangerous test awaits the mastic in the chamber where it will be storedsalt... The experience of using formulations for cavities in a car proves that in order to provide excellent protection for about an hour of a year, it is necessary that, when tested in a specified chamber, the samples withstand at least three hundred hours. During this time, about 1-2% of the protected metal can be transferred to rust.

Movil can be bought in the stores of the company "AUTOmarket Intercom", or order through

Movil has the longest production experience among the existing autochemistry products: its recipe was developed during the Soviet era jointly by Moscow and Vilnius chemists. In view of the existence of a significant number of fakes in the specialized markets, it is good to understand what a true Movil is, and how to use it correctly.

Movil's line-up

Modern Movil is more likely not a specific product, but a direction of preservation and anticorrosive compounds. They differ:

  • Trademarks of manufacturers: only in the post-Soviet space these are Belarus ("Stesmol"), Russia ("Astrokhim", "Nikor", "Agat-auto"), Lithuania ("Soliris"), Ukraine ("Motogarna").
  • The state of the active substance is liquid, paste or spray.
  • Packing (aerosol cans, plastic containers).
  • Color - black or dark brown.
  • Physical and mechanical parameters (density, dropping point, freezing point, etc.).

Since the Movil trademark was once patented in Moscow and Vilnius, the product should be produced there under the original name. Therefore, when you come across the name "Movil" on the packaging of a drug released somewhere else, you should be careful.

What about the rest of the Movies - Movil-NN, Movil-2, etc.? Hope that the manufacturer has included in the composition of the product ALL the components of THAT, the FIRST composition, adding only those components that are commonly referred to as "improvers" (deodorant additives, preservatives, inhibitors), and in very small quantities.

Here is the composition of Movil:

  1. Engine oil.
  2. Drying oil.
  3. Corrosion inhibitor.
  4. White Spirit.
  5. Kerosene.

All other additives - paraffin, zinc, octofor N, calcium sulfonate - are of a much later origin. The agent containing them cannot be called Movil. The standard indicators of Movil, according to TU 38.40158175-96, are:

  • Density, kg / m 3 - 840 ... 860.
  • The percentage of volatile components, no more - 57.
  • Spreadability on metal, mm, no more - 10.
  • Standard time for complete drying, min - no more than 25.
  • Corrosion resistance to sea water,% - not less than 99.

If the Movil you purchased shows results that are very similar to the above, then this is not a fake, but a good quality drug.

How to use?

Working with Movil is easy. First, carefully prepare the surface for processing, removing rust and traces of dirt from it. Then the surface is dried. Further operations are determined by the availability of the treated area. Where direct use of an aerosol is not possible, a plastic hose or tube with a spout must be used for precise atomization. After drying the first layer, the treatment should be repeated.

When using a compressor, the uniformity of the spraying will improve, but there will be a risk of Movil getting on the rubber elements. If possible, it is better to remove the rubber or insulate it tightly with tape. Sometimes it is necessary to protect body fasteners from rust. In such cases, it is better to use not a spray, but a Movil concentrate, dipping the necessary parts into it.

How long does Movil dry?

Drying time depends on the ambient temperature. Under normal conditions (20 ± 1 º С), the product dries up in no more than two hours. Since the boundary temperature for the optimal use of the product is considered to be the range of 10 ... 30 º С, it is worth knowing that for the lower temperature limit Movil will dry for 3 ... 5 hours, and for the upper one - 1.5 hours. At the same time, it "dries up" - an imprecise concept, Movil should form a continuous pliable film, which gradually thickens, and this happens in 10 ... 15 days. It is not easy to wash off such a film.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to more accurately indicate the drying time, since everything is determined by the concentration of the solvent in the initial composition of the product.

How to dilute Movil?

If in front of you is not a pasty mass, then nothing. Any additives designed to improve the fluidity of the original composition and to speed up the application process only lead to a deterioration in the quality of anti-corrosion or conservation treatment. Yes, such a composition dries faster (especially if you add white spirit, solvent or gasoline there) But! The surface tension of the formed film deteriorates, and at the slightest impact in the problem area, the integrity of the coating is violated. The owner of the car will not be able to track the onset of corrosion in a timely manner, so he will blame the poor-quality composition of Movil for the rust that has appeared. And in vain.

Since the agent is diluted in order to facilitate the processing process, it is better not to reduce the viscosity of Movil, but to carry out the treatment with a preparation heated in a water bath: in this case, the composition of the original preparation remains the same. The heating process can be repeated as many times as necessary.

Dilution with chemically aggressive formulations not only increases the toxicity of the product to the user, but may also cause the paint to partially peel off.

How to wash Movil?

Removing the product from the old paintwork is a time consuming process. The inadmissibility of using aggressive solvents has already been mentioned above. Therefore, it is necessary to use less effective substances that do not damage the surface of the car. Possible options include:

  • Kerosene (better - aviation).
  • Isopropyl alcohol.
  • A solution of laundry soap in turpentine (50/50).

A little trick: if you dare to try gasoline, then the surface cleaned from Movil should be IMMEDIATELY treated with any car shampoo. The same should be done in the case of using kerosene.
