Electronic gas pedal Lada Granta

In connection with the introduction of European standards for exhaust gas emissions, at the beginning of 2011, the AvtoVAZ concern began to equip Lada cars with the E-gas system. In the future, the manufacturer provided Grant with an electronic gas pedal.

The general meaning of the electronic system is that by moving the gas selector pedal, special sensors are used, which are located in the gas pedal module (hereinafter - MPG). With each change in the force exerted on the PGM, the resistance of the sensors also changes. After that, an electrical signal is generated, which enters the ECU, is read, processed, and depending on the degree of pressing, the results of processing, the final operation of the throttle valve is regulated.

Advantages and Disadvantages of E-Gas for Grants

The system is designed so that there is no need for mechanical parts connecting the accelerator itself and the throttle assembly. This approach provides a number of benefits, such as:

  • reduced fuel consumption and reduced exhaust toxicity;
  • instant response from the control unit to manipulations with the accelerator;
  • soft pedal travel;
  • smooth distribution of engine speed.

There are also some disadvantages that motorists face. These include:

  • smooth increase in engine speed with a sharp press on the gas pedal;
  • low maintainability of the unit in case of failure of its component parts (replacement of the assembled unit);
  • some inconvenience with engine modifications.

How to check E-gas

If you have doubts about the performance of the product itself, you should dismantle and check the unit using a multimeter.

The main symptoms of a malfunction:

  1. lit "Chek" on the dashboard (error 0504 when diagnosing);
  2. when you press the gas pedal, responsiveness has disappeared;
  3. increased engine speed is diagnosed when shifting speed on the gearbox.

If we talk about the causes of malfunctions, then the most common of them are:

  • failure of one or both PGM sensors;
  • malfunction of sensors as a result of oxidation of contact tracks, their contamination.

As stated earlier, in order to test E-gas grants, you must use a multimeter. To carry out diagnostic measurements of electrical circuits, the module must be dismantled, having previously disconnected it from the contact chip.

After that, you need to switch the operating position of the measuring device to the ohmmeter mode. The meaning of the check is that it is necessary to alternately measure the state of the contacts and conductive tracks of the PGM sensors. For example: connect one probe of the device to pin # 2, and the other to number 4. Keeping both probes connected, slowly step on the gas pedal and observe the reading of the meter. The normal reaction is considered to be a smooth decrease in electrical resistance when you press the accelerator. An abrupt, unstable decrease indicates a possible sensor malfunction. A similar sequence of actions is taken for the remaining contacts.

Replacing the gas pedal on the Grant

The replacement procedure is quite simple and does not require special technical means.
In order to dismantle the unit, you will need:
- Key for 10.

Sequential steps to replace the gas pedal fret grant:

1. The first step is to remove the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Next, you need to move to the driver's compartment of the car.
3. Above the gas pedal, find and disconnect the contact block that is connected to the sensor connector.

4. After that, take the key 10 and unscrew the three fastening nuts. In conditions of insufficient internal space, it is most convenient to use a socket wrench.

5. Remove the pedal from the special locating pins.
Reinstallation is performed in a mirror-like sequence.

Adjusting the sensitivity of the gas pedal

"Note! In controlling the operation of the throttle valve, not only the pedal together with its module takes part, an important role is played by the control unit of the throttle unit. Therefore, this product should also be given special attention in cases where the PGM is in a known good condition, and problems with engine speed remain. "
