How to pump the clutch on a VAZ 2106?

Repairing hydraulic clutch components or topping up brake fluid may cause air to enter the hydraulic actuator, which must be eliminated. To do this, you need to pump the clutch. Is it possible to do this on a VAZ 2106 with my own hands?

The presence of air is determined by some signs: incomplete disengagement of the clutch when the pedal is pressed all the way and the grinding of gears when reverse gear is engaged.

Preparation for pumping the clutch system VAZ 2106

Bleeding the clutch is not particularly difficult, so you can do it yourself. To do this, you need to prepare the necessary items in advance, as well as enlist the support of a friend or relative to provide assistance: this way you will be able to follow the work methodology and complete the task faster.

Clutch bleeding is carried out on a flyover or in a pit. Before the procedure, prepare:

  • new brake fluid (TF)
  • rubber tube
  • a transparent container that must first be filled with brake fluid
  • wrench 8 mm.

Stages of the process of bleeding the clutch VAZ 2106

  1. Pour TJ into the expansion tank so that it reaches the bottom cutting of the filler neck.
  2. We slightly loosen the fitting on the body of the working cylinder and put one end of the rubber tube on it, and lower its other end into a transparent container with TJ.
  3. At the third stage, it is necessary to involve an assistant in the work. His task will be to press the pedal to an elastic state and hold it in that position.
  4. As long as the pedal is held, it is necessary to gradually loosen the fitting. Liquid with air will begin to flow through the hose, which is a confirmation of its content in the system. The release of fluid will help loosen the pedal until it completely fails. After that, it is necessary to tighten the fitting to the stop and repeat the process until the liquid comes out without air content.
  5. During the manipulations, a drop in the level of liquid will be observed, which must be constantly topped up. The liquid level must not be allowed to reach a value below the mark, which is 10 mm above the bottom of the tank.
  6. When the clutch bleeding is completed, it is necessary to check the level of TJ. It should reach the lower edge of the filler neck.
  7. We twist the tank cap and disconnect the rubber tube.
  8. We wrap the fitting on the working cylinder.

Untimely topping up of brake fluid can lead to drainage of the bottom of the reservoir and air ingress into the system, and then the procedure will have to be repeated.
