When it is necessary to change the clutch master cylinder for Ford Focus 2

The manufacturer's maintenance schedule does not imply the repair of the clutch master cylinder. In the event of a leak or other malfunction, it is replaced with a new one. The resource of the unit is not determined, since it depends on the intensity of use, the quality of the brake fluid and the quality of the cylinder itself. Possible symptoms are:

  1. Clutch does not disengage or disengages incompletely when the pedal is pressed all the way, because of which the gears can be turned on with effort.
  2. Liquid leaves the tank ... To blame the master cylinder for this, we make sure that there is no leak on the clutch slave cylinder and the high pressure line does not allow fluid to pass through. The first sign of a leaking cylinder is the ingress of brake fluid into the passenger compartment or the appearance of drips on the engine shield.
  3. The clutch is disengaged only after a few pedal presses ... This indicates the airing of the hydraulic drive.
