What are the fuses for VAZ 2109 responsible for? Pinout of mounting blocks for VAZ cars

Fuse blocks installed on old and updated versions of VAZ 2109 cars serve to combine all electrical wiring.

The main task of the power supply unit is to prevent breakdowns of electrical equipment installed in the car.

Scheme

The entire line of VAZ 2109 cars can be conditionally divided into two branches - produced before 1998 and produced after 1998.

Older cars are equipped with fuse boxes marked 17.3722. This PSU consists of a case and an engineering board. Wire contacts, fuses and relays are soldered to the board.

Newer versions of nines, the start of the release of which took place in 1998, here the BP is labeled 2114-3722010-60. Here we see fuses already.

If we talk about fuse boxes, the factor of the used fuel injection system - carburetor or injector - does not play at all. PSUs will differ only by the year of manufacture of the car. Consequently, the mounting blocks for the carburetor and injector are the same.

The desired mounting block is also located the same everywhere - in the engine compartment opposite the driver's seat, almost under the windshield itself.

Differences

Are there differences between the old and new versions of the PSU? Of course. They are as follows:

  • The parts of the mounting block are marked differently;
  • The fuse rating is different;
  • The new PSU does not have a cooling fan motor relay and a rear window washer time relay.

Old-style power supply unit

Let us first consider the old-style power supply units, which are still quite common on VAZ 2109 cars. Moreover, as we have already said, both with injection and carburetor engines.

It is necessary not only to understand the location of one or another fuse, relay, but also to know how to replace a failed element.

Dismantling and replacement

If your equipment has failed, you must first check the condition of the fuse responsible for it.

In practice, it is not difficult to remove and remove an unusable fuse or relay. To do this, you need:

  • Raise the hood and disconnect the minus from the battery. Since you are working with the fuse box responsible for electrical equipment, the car should not be energized at this moment;
  • Find the mounting block. It is located in the engine compartment opposite the driver's seat directly under the windshield. The block is closed from above with a plastic cover. To remove it, simply squeeze the latches on the sides;
  • Remove the cover and look at the reverse side. There is an electrical diagram showing the location of this or that fuse, relay. Just find the element that is responsible for the failed equipment according to the tables above;
  • Remove the fuse. All mounting blocks are provided with special pliers. It is not recommended to remove fuses manually. The relays are removed by small wiggles up and down;
  • Replace the defective component.

Fuse failure is detected by the melted filament. They are fusible elements that melt and close contacts, preventing equipment from being damaged by excessive voltage.

That's all, it remains only to replace the element of the fuse box, close the cover, put the battery terminal back in place and check the operation of the equipment.

Good afternoon. Today we have a VAZ 2108, 2109, 21099 in our car service. He came to us with a desire to deal with the electrician. There was a surge in electricity in the car, and after that the wiper blades, turn signals, and rear fog lights stopped working. Most likely fuses are to blame. In this article we will tell you where the fuses for VAZ 2108, 2109, 21099 are located and how they change. We also attach a detailed diagram of the fuses in the mounting block.

The VAZ 2109 fuse box is on the left side of the car, under the hood, in front of the windshield. It's very easy to get to it. You just need to remove the cover from it and the fuse and relay box will open in front of you.

In the fuse box VAZ 2109, fuses are installed that are designed for various currents and serve to protect various sections of the car's electrical equipment. If the permissible parameters are exceeded in a specific section of the car's network, the fuse burns out, thereby de-energizing the damaged section, and one might say, saves the car from more unpleasant situations, even from a fire.

However, do not forget that before replacing a blown fuse in the VAZ 23109 fuse box, you first need to find out why it burned out, repair this malfunction, and only then put a new fuse. If we immediately install a new fuse, without finding out the reason, at best, the new "pre" will also burn out, and at worst we can start a fire. Although the fuses are the same size, they are rated for different amperage. Therefore, always be careful when installing new fuses, otherwise, if the "amperage" is not observed, the car's electrical equipment may fail.

The mounting block on the VAZ 2109 was installed in several types. The location and types of fuses on them were different. Block 17.3722 had cylindrical fuses, blocks 2114-3722010-60 and 2114-3722010-18 already had knife-type fuses and the location on the fuse board was different.

Each fuse in the VAZ 2109 fuse box protects its circuit, thereby narrowing the scope of troubleshooting.

Talking about the VAZ 2109 fuse box, it is also necessary to mention the relays, which are also installed in the car mounting block.

To ensure the maintenance and repair of the electrical equipment of the VAZ car, a special approach was applied to the layout of each of the components of the overall system. That is, all relays and fuses were placed in one compact housing of the mounting block. The use of commutation of interconnected circuits of various systems of electrical equipment makes it possible to refuse to install a large number of relays throughout the body of the machine and simplifies the process of repairing their replacement parts. To find faulty elements, you do not need to disassemble the entire car - you just need to replace the device itself, which is connected to the circuit using unified connectors. They help us in this. The following are electrical schematic diagrams of MB for a VAZ car.

Pinout of the mounting block 2109

The VAZ 2109 mounting block is designed to combine wiring harnesses, as well as to place relays and fuses. The first models used a mounting block type 17.3722. Consists of a body, consisting of two parts, and a printed circuit board on which leads are soldered to connect to the pads of wiring harnesses, install relays and fuses.

On cars with an injection engine, mounting blocks are used similar to 2114-3722010-60, but they have a different connection for the radiator cooling fan.

On the entire family of carburetor cars "Samara 1" and on parts of carburetor cars of the "Samara 2" family (VAZ 2113 - 2115), two types of fuse blocks, old and new, are installed. These devices are also called mounting blocks. They are the heart of the car electrics, because they are equipped with executive relays of low-current circuits. With the help of the mounting block, the relays of high-current and additional circuits are also controlled - a starter, fog lamps, heated seats and others. The installation location of both units is the same, the difference is in small, different connectors and different arrangement of elements and a different housing design.

Differences between VAZ fuse mounting blocks

The part number of the old model mounting block is 17.3722. The main difference from the more modern block with the catalog number 2114-3722010-60 is the worse protection against moisture, which is why the resource of the device is several times lower.

After all, the mounting block is located in a niche in the engine compartment, where rainwater or washer fluid often gets. The new mounting block also lacks the rear window washer. This is caused by a change in the electrical circuit of the vehicle and the installation of these relays elsewhere.

Another difference - in the new model of the mounting block, a different type of fuse is used, which is more resistant to moisture. To distinguish one unit from another, it is necessary to read the inscription on the cover, it contains the model number. If for some reason it is not possible to read the text on the cover, remove it and compare the blocks with the photographs from this article.

Faults and block diagrams

Despite some differences, the faults of all models of similar units are the same:

  • oxidation of contacts;
  • short circuit due to dirt.

When water gets inside the housing of the mounting block, water mixes with dust and forms dirt, which eventually spreads along the bottom or top of the mounting plate. Malfunctions of the mounting block are often very similar to breakdowns of other electrical systems of the car, therefore, the exact cause can be determined only after dismantling and opening the block.

It is necessary to remove and check the mounting block if the following malfunctions are observed:

  • or arbitrary on / off / mode switching;
  • problems with the radio;
  • intermittent ignition;
  • unclear work of wipers or washers;
  • fuzzy operation of the sound signal;
  • incorrect or indistinct operation of direction indicators.

How to remove and install the VAZ fuse mounting block

The basic procedures for removing any model mount block are the same. To remove the mounting block, do the following:

  • Remove the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Unscrew the two nuts on the sides of the block (it is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment above).
  • Lift the unit as far as possible and pull out all connectors from the bottom.
  • Install in reverse order. Insert all connectors first, then tighten the nuts.

How to disassemble and assemble

Before disassembling the mounting block, print out a photo or diagram of the installation of fuses and relays, and also mark or write down where which relays are installed, because the description of the parts that is present on the inside of the cover does not always help.

  • Remove the cover. To do this, on the old model of the block, unfasten one latch from each side, on the new model, unfasten two latches from each block.
  • Remove all relays and fuses. The new model has a special tweezers that helps to pull out the fuses, it is located next to the direction indicator relay.
  • After that, unscrew the self-tapping screws that connect both halves of the case.

On most blocks of older models, self-tapping screws are installed on top. On most of the new ones below. But it also happens the other way around, because blocks are produced not only by AVTOVAZ. Use a thin flat-blade screwdriver to separate both halves of the housing. If disconnection fails, be sure to unscrew all the screws and try inserting the screwdriver elsewhere. Opening the case, remove the printed circuit board with the connectors installed on it. Reassemble in reverse order. First place the PCB on the fasteners of one half of the case, then slide the other half on and gently squeeze them so that they connect. If you cannot connect the halves of the case, disassemble them and make sure that the PCB is in place, then reassemble. Then fix the body halves with self-tapping screws.

How to repair

Examine the PCB tracks carefully. If you find dirt somewhere between the tracks, moisten it with nail polish remover and a brush. Make sure the varnish does not dissolve the brush. After removing all the dirt, thoroughly wipe the tracks with alcohol and dry with compressed air. Perform this operation on both sides of the printed circuit board. Inspect all connectors.

Replace if dirty or oxidized. If you do not have the necessary knowledge, tools or spare parts for this, contact an auto electrician. Do not spray the connectors with contact cleaning sprays, there is a high chance that some of the contacts will not be able to clean the first time. In addition, the spray will not help restore contact if the pressure plates (petals) are worn or weakened. If the PCB cannot be repaired and the new unit is expensive, buy and install a new PCB. Before doing this, make sure that it fits your block, for which compare the catalog number of your block and the one for which the board is intended.
