The correct equipment of the car is a guarantee of the safety of both the driver and passengers. Frequent trips and travel by car become direct proof of how difficult it is for a car owner to do without fog lights. Even small changes in the weather can disrupt the usual movement if the car is operated without "fog lights".
To install them, not so much is needed: fog lights, the necessary tools and a fog light connection diagram, which is actually quite simple. It is better to buy high-quality fog lights at the car market, since it is there that experts will advise not only the desired model, but also tell you how to connect it.
The main task of fog lights is to deliver a clear light. Precise adjustment of the headlights makes it possible to illuminate the path at a distance of ten meters. And this is quite enough when driving at a low speed, even in very inclement weather. Fog lights are adjusted directly during installation. Correct adjustment of the angle of incidence of light is the key to high-quality road lighting.
Connecting fog lights is easy, the main thing is to have at least basic skills in working with automotive tools and know where and what is.
Connection instructions
To complete the task you need:
- fog lights,
- fog lamp relay and block,
- power button,
- 15 amp fuse,
- wires, electrical tape.
If you have experience connecting a car radio, it will be even easier, despite some differences.
First you need to remove the terminals from the battery and remove the main panel, under which there is a pair of bulbs from the backlight of the oven regulator. The bulbs themselves are not needed, but the wires are just the opposite. By running to the very end along the wire, you can find the two-pin connector. It is to it that the first contact of the relay must be attached. So, the first wire must be connected to the oven light connector, the other to the button.
Then the wire must be connected to the relay in order to obtain a 12-volt circuit from the auto dimensions and the relay contact 85. The connection process cannot be called super-complicated, so even beginners can do it. By the way, the relay can be hidden anywhere, as convenient for the driver, for example, behind the dashboard.
And finally, the most important thing is the fog lights. Each of them has two wires: plus and minus. The pros from one and the other headlights need to be connected together and sent to the battery. After that, raise them on the relay so that the wires are invisible, and then connect to the connector under the 30th number. The minus goes to the body. And now you can make sure that the foglights are working. You should not immediately assemble the structure, it is important to make sure that everything works and is connected reliably enough, does not short out anywhere. Protect bare wires with electrical tape. And it's all!
If the fog lights do not work, it is possible that the connectors of the relay are incorrectly connected, which, when properly installed, should emit clicks. Troubleshooting in this case will save the day.
Today there are some rules related to how to install fog lights. They are spelled out in the Code of the Road Traffic. There is also the headlight data connection diagram itself, designed to help an inexperienced driver.
Installation and requirements for it
The clarity of the boundaries of the beam of light at the top guarantees excellent illumination of the path, in other words, the propagation of light should be above the horizontal plane. The headlights should be installed directly at the bottom of the car, because due to this, a certain layer is obtained between the fog and light, which provides good lighting.
In the event that the connection diagram assumes the equipment of the lower part of the car with headlights, plugs will be required. They are protective grilles that protect the headlights from blows from stones, sticks and other troubles that threaten the safety of the headlights while driving. The plug will protect the parts under all circumstances.
It is important to constantly monitor the cleanliness of the installed headlights with polishing. This extends the life of the equipment and makes the light diffusion clearer.
