HG7008 Hi-Gear 10 MINUTES TRANS PLUS with ER
10-MINUTE RINSING OF THE Hi-Gear automatic transmission
Allows you to gently and safely dissolve and remove most dirt and deposits from the automatic transmission hydraulic system. Restores the clarity of gear changes. Extends the service life of the transmission fluid and automatic transmission in general. Safe for metal, plastic and rubber parts of automatic transmissions of any type. The ER contained in the composition significantly enhances the cleaning ability of the rinse. This removes contaminants from the converter, where conventional cleaners have little effect. In addition, tests have shown that, due to the emulsifying ability of the ER, it envelops micro-particles of dirt with a special film, preventing them from harmful contact with transmission parts. The use of "Flushing Hi-Gear with ER" in combination with "Sealant and Tuning Hi-Gear with ER" fundamentally improves the operating mode of the automatic transmission and extends its service life by 1.5-2 times.
Pack. 444 ml
Transmission fluid, like oil, has a detergent effect that gradually disappears as the fluid ages. The automatic transmission radiator and torque converter accumulate dissimilar contamination and carbon deposits. When changing the transmission fluid, some of the contamination inevitably remains inside the automatic transmission hydraulic system. Fresh transmission fluid begins to actively flush and dissolve these contaminants and, as a result, quickly loses its protective properties. Washed off sediments in the form of a suspension can not only clog a new filter, but also completely disable the automatic transmission. In professional automatic transmission repair shops, special flushes are necessarily used to remove contaminants, which can significantly extend the life of the transmission fluid and ensure reliable operation of the transmission for a long time.

As well as working units and parts of automatic transmission. Hazardous precipitation in the form of metal dust, shavings, debris, combustion products and friction decay accumulate on working surfaces, filter screens, as well as in cavities and channels of the hydraulic system. Automatic transmission flushing is a necessary procedure to restore the stability of the transmission.

Why do you need automatic box flushing

During the operation of the automatic transmission, the amount of mud deposits increases, which is the reason for the failure of both individual parts and the mechanism as a whole. Some car enthusiasts believe that it is possible to get by with a simple change of the transmission oil and oil filter. However, as practice shows, in order to restore the stable functioning of the automatic transmission, a simple change of the lubricant is not always enough. To independently establish the operation of an automatic transmission, flushing the automatic transmission with your own hands is the best solution.

What is the essence of such an action as flushing for automatic transmission? The answer is simple: an affordable way to clean the gearbox cavities from accumulated dirt is being determined. The most commonly used method of flushing the machine channel system using streams of lubricating fluid. Sometimes a special flushing agent or automatic transmission flushing fluid (Liqui Moly) is added to the transmission oil.

If this does not help, the gearbox is completely disassembled. Then each part is cleaned by hand using gasoline and compressed air.

Each of the methods described has been successfully applied in practice. The results of a competently carried out cleaning of the automatic transmission box are tangible in the following manifestations:

  1. Reduces the likelihood of breakdowns in the automatic transmission.
  2. The service life of the entire mechanism increases.
  3. The operation of the automatic transmission is being corrected.

In order to flush the automatic transmission to maximum efficiency, it is necessary to perform each operation competently and accurately.

How often do you need to flush the automatic transmission

With active operation of the gearbox, it is recommended to flush the automatic transmission, in particular, clean the valve body channels, simultaneously with a complete replacement of the transmission oil (oil change in the automatic transmission with flushing). The operational life of the vehicle transmission directly depends on the frequency of these activities. Flushing the automatic transmission when changing the oil means that the frequency of work is 30 - 70 thousand km of the distance traveled. The interval between automatic transmission maintenance measures is set, depending on the operating conditions of the vehicle.

When is an automatic transmission prematurely cleaned? The main reasons for extraordinary cleaning of the automatic transmission:

  • incorrect gear shifting when transferring the automatic transmission selector to a certain mode;
  • and twitching of the car during acceleration;
  • unstable operation of the automatic transmission in the selected mode.

These problems arise with increased contamination of the automatic transmission valve body channel system. If at least one of the listed signs is noticed, it is necessary to urgently clean the elements of the hydraulic system of the automatic transmission.

Important: If flushing did not lead to the expected results, then specific elements of the automatic transmission are faulty.

What needs to be prepared for flushing the box machine

This event is best done in a specialized workshop. Most of the service companies are equipped with special flushing devices, with the help of which the unit is flushed at the proper professional level. If it turns out that it is necessary to disassemble the automatic transmission and change some parts and assemblies, the box is moved, all its elements are washed in gasoline, the channels are blown through with compressed air.

If you decide to flush the automatic transmission yourself, you need to create conditions and acquire consumables, auxiliary tools, and devices:

  1. Transmission fluid in a double volume (the first portion of ATP oil will be used for flushing the unit, the second for refueling, respectively).
  2. Adjustable wrenches, heads, polyhedrons, gasoline, screwdrivers, pump.
  3. A bucket or basin for waste material.
  4. Cotton rags.
  5. Observation deck, flyover.

Automatic box flushing without dismantling from the machine

This procedure is carried out using a special apparatus. Standard list of works carried out by the workshop workers:

  1. First, the used old oil is drained. To drain the maximum amount of used liquid, the tray of the automatic box is removed, the drain plug is unscrewed.
  2. After draining the fluid, all parts are installed in their original place.
  3. A device filled with new transmission oil is connected.
  4. The engine starts.
  5. The motor runs for at least 15 minutes.
  6. At this time, the oil under pressure passes through all channels of the automatic transmission hydraulic system.
  7. Re-drains from the automatic transmission.
  8. The worn out oil filter is dismantled and a new filter element is installed in its place.
  9. The automatic box pallet gasket is replaced.
  10. Fill up with fresh gear oil.

Tip: If desired, special agents are added to the flushing oil to increase the efficiency of cleaning the automatic box. However, experienced craftsmen warn that the use of these funds does not always have a positive effect on the further operation of automatic transmissions, and they themselves use it with great care in oil.

After performing a full-flow automatic transmission flushing, it is recommended to check how the mechanism works. Particular attention should be paid to the absence of noise and extraneous sounds in the automatic box. It is also required to analyze the degree of comfort of control of the selector - it should move freely and easily enough.

Features of complicated box cleaning

If the gearbox is removed from the car for subsequent repairs, it is recommended to flush the automatic transmission cavities not in the standard way, but using more complex manipulations. Procedure:

  1. Drain the oil from the box.
  2. Dismantle the automatic transmission from the vehicle.
  3. Disassemble the mechanism completely.
  4. Thoroughly rinse each element in gasoline (diesel fuel, kerosene).
  5. Blowing out the valve body channels with compressed air.
  6. Replacement of consumable parts (filter elements, gaskets, oil seals, seals, etc.).
  7. Assembling the automatic transmission in its original state.
  8. Installing the automatic box on the car.
  9. Filling the system with ATF.
  10. Automatic transmission running-in.

Important: When running in a vehicle, it is necessary to adhere to sparing modes, to avoid sudden maneuvers, sharp turns, emergency braking and other increased loads. The automatic transmission adaptation process takes several days (from 4 to 7).

There are many discussions among experienced motorists on this topic. Some reputable drivers recommend regular cleaning of the automatic transmission cooling circuit pipes. Others believe that this device should be replaced with a new one. In any case, each car owner will make his own decision. The design of the radiator is a complex system. With poor conductivity of the lines, the heat exchange of the transmission oil in the automatic transmission hydraulic system is disturbed.

In a service station, the radiator of the machine is flushed with pure ATF oil using a transmission fluid replacement unit.

When carrying out this procedure on their own at home, craftsmen use a circulation pump. In this case, kerosene is often taken as a washing liquid.

Flushing the automatic transmission valve body

The valve body of an automatic transmission is a complex device. Externally, it is presented in the form of a plate, crossed by numerous channels for the passage of oil flows. During the care of the valve body, the main focus is on the solenoid bypass valves. The correct operation of the elements of the automatic transmission clutch mechanisms (clutches, friction discs) depends on the quality of the flushing.

Automatic transmission filter flushing

The auto maintenance manual recommends completely changing the automatic transmission oil filter when changing the oil in the gearbox. However, experienced craftsmen independently clean the metal mesh of the filter element. At the same time, they use such improvised means as:

  • gasoline 80;
  • synthetic carburetor cleaner from HI-Gear;
  • aerosol WD-40 (popularly referred to as "vedeshka").

Flushing the torque converter gearbox automatic

This procedure is carried out only after cutting the "donut". After opening the case, all parts and assemblies of the mechanism are carefully examined and analyzed to exclude breakages and defects.

The following items are checked and cleaned:

  1. Turbine blades.
  2. O-rings.
  3. Oil seals.
  4. Coupling elements.

After cleaning the internal parts, the converter housing is thoroughly welded. The main requirements for the weld are: ensuring tightness and restoring the aesthetic appearance of the assembled product.

Removal / installation, cutting, flushing, welding of the converter housing - all these operations can only be done by experienced service center specialists. At home, these works without the necessary skills are not recommended to be done by hand.

Automatic transmission flushing and ATF replacement.

Today, flushing the automatic transmission when changing the oil is a rather rare service operation and the reason is not the high cost of work. The reason is the illiteracy of both the car owners themselves and the servicemen who do not understand the peculiarities of the work of modern "automatic machines". In the last 10-15 years, the design of the automatic transmission has changed quite seriously. The dominant trend is fuel economy, and not at all to the detriment of power and acceleration speed. Modern automatic transmissions have 6-8 ranges and switch very quickly. For additional fuel economy, the torque converter has a clutch with partial high-frequency locking, which further improves acceleration dynamics. All these changes are good for a simple car owner, since, I repeat, they improve the purely consumer properties of the car, improve dynamics and reduce fuel consumption. However, there are also disadvantages that people prefer to forget about. The main disadvantage is the increased contamination of the oil in the automatic transmission by clutch wear products, including the wear products of the torque converter clutch. Also, the gearshift solenoid valves are worn out, forced to work much more often than in machines with 4-5 operating ranges. The situation is also aggravated by the widespread transition of automatic transmission manufacturers to ATF fluids with a reduced (again, for the sake of fuel economy) viscosity, which protects the gearbox parts from wear worse, as well as attempts to implement "lifetime" ATF filling.

All of the above leads to the fact that many automatic transmissions are sent to the bulkhead already with a mileage of 60-100 thousand km, with a full service life of 200-250 thousand km. Is it possible to operate a modern machine without problems, yes, during the entire service life of the car? The answer of modern specialists is yes! The main thing is to service the automatic transmission on time and correctly.

The oil change in automatic transmissions, which is practiced by most official services, is partial. I poured a couple of liters of old liquid, refilled with fresh one and that's it! But with this technology, only 20-30% of the liquid changes and most of the contamination and wear products remain in the box and reduce the resource. The technology offered by German specialists Liqui Moly is completely different. For correct and long-term operation of the automatic transmission, it is necessary to clean it, completely remove wear products, and only then fill in fresh oil. Automatic transmission flushing technology is not very easy to implement, it is available only to services that have equipment for a COMPLETE oil change in automatic transmissions.

Let's briefly describe what automatic transmission flushing looks like. A special cleaning additive Automatik Getriebe-Reiniger is poured into the heated gearbox through the dipstick, 250 ml per 6-8 liters of ATF. Then the engine should be started on the selector in "neutral" and allowed to run for about 10 minutes at idle speed. Do not accelerate! There is no need to switch the automatic transmission operating modes during flushing, since all drain channels in the solenoid valves are open to "neutral" and the circulation of the cleaning fluid is maximum. After flushing, the automatic transmission is connected to the installation for a complete oil change in the automatic transmission. Usually it is convenient to do this through the automatic transmission cooling circuit, but there are other options. The task of the installation is to displace the old fluid along with flushing, flushing should not remain in the automatic transmission! The installation pumps oil through the automatic transmission, in a volume of about 25% more than the full capacity of the box, the process is controlled visually. Fresh oil is supplied to the automatic transmission until clean oil appears in the drain line. The next stage is cleaning the pallet and replacing the filter, if this operation is provided by design, but this operation is well known to auto mechanics.

Summary: what does a full automatic transmission flush give? Firstly, when flushing the automatic transmission, wear products of clutches and gears are completely removed. Secondly, the oil in the automatic transmission is completely replaced with fresh oil, with a maximum resource. Thirdly, flushing the automatic transmission, in addition to removing contaminants, takes care of the oil seals and seals in the valve body, which extends the life of the hydraulics and makes the automatic transmission more adequate, without jerking and slipping.

When should the automatic transmission be flushed? It is necessary to flush the automatic transmission at each routine oil change in the automatic transmission, as well as at the first service of a car purchased in a used state. It is also necessary to flush the automatic transmission in the event of automatic transmission malfunctions, one way or another associated with contamination, for example, jerking and slipping, vibrations, etc.
