Kia cerate 1 generation. Electrical diagrams KIA Cerato (I generation)

Today, Korean cars have already earned the trust of our motorists, but South Korean cars have not always enjoyed such trust. The Cerato model played a very significant role in the formation of the image of KIA as a manufacturer of quality cars. The Kia Cerato is the successor to the Spectra, even sold under the Spectra name in the States, and the K3 in South Korea. 220 million euros were invested in the development of the Kia Cerato, production of the Cerate began in 2004, but the Korean model - K3 has been available to South Korean drivers since 2003. Ukrainian motorists often bought cars assembled in Lutsk, because in 2005 the production of Korean cars was established in the Ukrainian city. The first generation Kia Cerato was discontinued in 2009, the first generation was replaced by the second, but today the third generation presented in 2012 is already being produced. In this article we will pay attention to the first generation KIA Cerato 2004-2009, although the car is no longer new, but it is a very good option in the secondary car market.

External review of Kia Cerato 2004-2009

The first generation Kia Cerato was produced as a sedan and a hatchback, the first type of body among our drivers is much more popular than the second. The curb weight of the Kia Cerato sedan with a manual transmission and a 1.6l engine is 1169kg. According to experts, Cerato's anti-corrosion protection can be assessed as satisfactory, although today it is not yet possible to find frankly rusty specimens, but the hood edge does not withstand pebbles, it is not uncommon for the paint to crack and the hood begins to rust. Even some of the older members of the Golf Class have higher corrosion resistance, for example, it is higher y, or. "Fly swatter" on the hood of Cerato will not be superfluous. Overall dimensions of the sedan KIA Cerato: 4480mm * 1735mm * 1470mm, wheelbase Cerate - 2610mm. It is worth noting that Cerato's wheelbase cannot be called small, in part thanks to it, the good directional stability that this car has is provided. In 2007, a restyling was carried out over Cerato, the updated KIA Cerato can be recognized by the new radiator grill, above is a photo of Cerato before the modernization. And also modified rear lights and bumper. In the photo you can see that on the restyled Cerato, the transparent element on the rear foot dropped to the very bottom of the lamp, and red fog lights appeared in the bumper. A more expensive modification - EX is outwardly distinguishable by the foglights installed in the front bumper. KIA Cerato puts on shoes in 195/60 R15 tires.

Salon and equipment

According to the EuroNCAP results, Cerato received 3 stars, even in those years - this is not a very good result, the first Ford Focus produced before 2004 received 4 stars, and its second generation already 5 stars. In general, during the years of production of the first Cerate, 5 stars for the Golf Class cars was already the norm. Kia Cerato can be praised for its spacious interior. The basic configuration - LX includes electric front windows, hydraulic booster, heated front seats and air conditioning. The steering wheel in the KIA Cerato 2004-2009 can be adjusted in tilt angle. A more expensive modification - EX is equipped with all four electric glass drives, and all four glass control buttons are present at the driver's hand. In the expensive -EX configuration, the driver's seat in Cerate is height-adjustable, in addition, the EX version KIA is equipped with an electric drive and heated mirrors. The back in Cerato is quite spacious, it seems that the low seating position on the back sofa, as well as the slope of the back of the sofa, add space. The trunk of the Cerato sedan is not large by the standards of the class - 345 liters, but it houses a full-size spare wheel, which is quite important in our conditions. According to the owners of KIA Cerato 2004-2009, the sound insulation is not bad, some mark it as the best in comparison with the Nissan Almera Classic, or the Mitsubishi Lancer 9.

Technical equipment and characteristics of KIA Cerato 2004-2009

KIA Cerato 2004-2009 was equipped with one of three gasoline engines. This is a 1.6 with 104 horsepower, later this motor was replaced by a 1.6 16v 122hp. The unit is equipped with the CVVT system - this is a variable valve timing system from the KIA. It is noteworthy that 1.6 engines are equipped with a timing chain drive, which has a positive effect on the reliability of the engine. According to experts, there are no typical weak points in the Cerate motor. Adjustment of thermal clearances on these motors is required every 300,000 km, the work is carried out using adjusting washers. Immediately, we note that on diesel versions, which we cannot find "in the afternoon with fire", adjustment of thermal clearances is not required, since Cerato diesel engines are equipped with hydraulic compensators. To accelerate to one hundred kilometers, the driver Cerato with a 1.6 engine for 122 horses takes 11.7 seconds, on the highway Cerate is capable of developing 186 kilometers per hour.

The most powerful is the modification with a 2.0l engine with a capacity of 143hp and a traction force of 186N.M. The higher torque of the two-liter Cerate provides a set of one hundred kilometers in 9 seconds. The compression ratio in such an engine is 10.1: 1, because of the not too high compression ratio, many owners pour 92nd gasoline into the Cerato tank, but it is better to pour the 5th one. The Kia Cerato fuel tank holds 55 liters. It is also worth mentioning that the cylinder diameter of the two-liter Cerato is 82mm, and the piston stroke is 93.5mm, which indicates the torsion of the engine (the piston stroke is greater than the cylinder diameter). The consumption of gasoline of the two-liter Cerato modification is 7.5 liters in the combined cycle.

Diesel plants KIA are equipped with Common Rail fuel injection. Diesel Ceratos are equipped with diesels of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, power, respectively, 102 and 113 horsepower.

Unlike many other foreign cars, KIA Cerato has a rather high ground clearance - 160mm, which is even comparable to some SUVs.

The vast majority of the first Cerate are equipped with mechanical five-speed gearboxes. According to experts, Cerato's boxes are quite reliable, only with mileage exceeding 50,000 km the backstage oil seal can leak, but this is not a serious breakdown. It is recommended to change the transmission oil in the first-generation Cerate gearbox every 90,000 km, in an automatic transmission the same procedure should be performed every 60,000 km.

The Cerato chassis is the strength of this car. Firstly, the first generation of Cerato is equipped with a fully independent suspension, while the second generation of Cerato already has a beam at the back. The rear multi-link contributes to high speed stability, comfort and safe cornering. The weakest point of the Cerato chassis is the stabilizer bushings, which are enough for 30,000 mileage, but they change separately from the stabilizers themselves. In general, in Cerato, parts such as silent blocks and ball joints are changed separately from the levers, which significantly reduces the cost of repairs. The silent blocks of levers and ball joints in Cerate live 150,000 km, even the tips of the steering rods are enough for 100,000 km. Rear wheel bearings are usually enough for 100,000 km, but they are only supplied with the hub.

Unlike many other golf class models, Kia Cerato 1 is equipped with disc brakes on all wheels. Already at the base, Cerato is equipped with ABS and EBD (brake force distribution system).

Price

When viewing the ads for the sale of KIA Cerato 2004 - 2009, the following conclusion can be drawn. You can buy a 2007 Kia Cerato for $ 10,000. The price of the 2009 Kia Cerato is $ 12,000 - $ 14,000. There are not many Cerat cars on the B. market that are older than 2007, but they are cheaper, it is quite possible to buy a well-maintained car for $ 9,000.

KIA Cerato cannot be called an ideal car, but it has very significant advantages. The advantages of Cerato include: overall reliability, the relative cheapness of repairs and a spacious interior.

This car is a sedan with a wheelbase of 2700 cm, a naturally aspirated 1.6 engine, a classic hydromechanical automatic with 6 gears, a semi-independent suspension - a beam. New technologies: electric power steering, electric hair dryer.

Direct competitors are seen: toyota corolla (beam, base 2700, BUT: variator), renault fluence (beam, base 2700, BUT: variator), peugeot 408 (beam, base 2717, hydraulic 4-speed DP0, again there is a turbo engine with 6 Aisin, but not a competitor because the price is higher).

Not competitors (POINTS): ford focus (cramped interior, robot, vibration noise in the cabin - although of course the noise in the doors has clearly been improved, the vibration noise has not gone anywhere, body swing on waves, weak brakes), mitsubishi lanser (you can say the same focus, except that the ground clearance is higher, the brakes are better), mazda 3 (ford focus platform, the same cramped, noisy, but good old hydraulic machine).

Strengths:

  • Hydroautomat
  • Smooth running
  • Spacious salon
  • Comfortable fit
  • Comfortable steering wheel
  • The warmth in the cabin is always
  • Quite tolerable head unit and a set of speakers.
  • Nimble
  • Excellent brakes

Weak sides:

  • Beam

Review of Kia Cerato 2.0 CVVT (Kia Cerato) 2007 Part 2

So ... six years have passed. Repeatedly thought about how to finally write a sequel, and now the moment has come. According to the old tradition of this resource, the last review about it is written after the sale :(

Now about the car: a stable middling with well-known problems, namely:

1.replacement of the radiator of the cooling system - in 6 years, replaced 1 time, ate Moscow salt, according to the testimony of servicemen, usually 2 winters live

Strengths:

  • Compromise ... like all cars

Weak sides:

  • With insufficient care, it will start to crumble, maintaining a normal state is quite expensive (but it depends on what to compare, I think that 15-20 thousand rubles per year with a mileage of 25-30 thousand km per year for spare parts and consumables is acceptable)
  • Relatively high consumption in the city - 11-13 liters in traffic jams
  • Low resale price

Review of Kia Cerato 2.0 CVVT (Kia Cerato) 2008

Good afternoon, motorists!

Auto 2008g.v., 2.0, automatic 4-speed + tiptron.

For a long time I had the idea of buying a cheratka, after all, it looks attractive, and friends who have such a car said that the machine is good in all its qualities. Before that, I drove the Lacetti sedanchik 1.6 mechanics. For comparison, I will note that the interior of the cherato is a little closer than that of the lacheti, but a little, the trunk is also worse, the noise along the arches is worse (and so there is no noise), all the sand that flies from under the wheels is heard, but this is not scary, I want to install wheel arches say will help. The salon, of course, is many times prettier than that of a lacheti, it looks like a car of a representative class. The dynamics is a beast, 143hp, the machine works perfectly, does not dull a bit, if you want to overtake someone, you press, immediately switches to the lower gear and goes. By the way, the flow rate on the highway in the speed range of 100-110 km. (While the tachometer needle at 110 - 2.5 thousand rpm) in quiet mode, the onboard showed 6.5 - absolutely true, I'm not lying. As for the city, with a quiet ride, it gives 10-10.3. As for the chassis, it is all native, except for the stabilizer bushings (mileage 61000), the pits go well, the only negative is the native front struts, a small knock on the right, they said at the service that they are in perfect order, they have such a work of racks, and they keep , does not chat. On the track, the car is obedient, does not lurch, does not throw, etc. The climate is no problem. Native acoustics are normal. I wrote the main thing, don't blame me, I wrote it as it is.

Strengths:

  • Appearance
  • Driving performance
  • Salon
  • Motor 2.0

Weak sides:

  • Weak noise insulation of arches
  • Front struts

I own this car for just over 16 months, bought it in April 2011 from the owner with 84 thousand km mileage.

I will only write a little about the car. I liked everything after the purchase, and even now, in principle, too, but I already see some shortcomings. There are many different pleasant things in the car that create a pleasant impression about it.

Review of Kia 1.6l., 122hp, 4АКПП (Kia Cerato) 2007

At the beginning of 2007. decided to part with the three-year-old Nexia and buy something more comfortable. Ksenia, by the way, was a pretty decent machine in comparison with the domestic auto industry (he owned a VAZ 2106 and a new VAZ 2107). The only drawback, in my opinion, is its long overhangs and low ground clearance (in winter, the protection constantly clings). Sold in a condition close to perfect.

Shortly before the sale, he began to study the Internet and the press for a new car. Search criteria: up to 500t.r., not lower than a golf class and to please. Like everyone else, he looked at the Focuses, Megan, etc. Mark KIA did not consider at all, although he even stared at the newly appeared Cherie Fora and Tiggo. I climbed many forums. The magicians at that time blamed their cars "on what the light is worth", therefore they refused it. Megan looks like nothing, but prejudices like "FFF" eventually won out too.

Once passing by I ******, I decided to look once again at the Sonata. I walked into the salon, "got lazy", moved towards the exit and was taken by surprise by the manager who suddenly appeared in front of me. I still succumbed to his persuasion to pay attention to the car with the indecent name of Serato. We walked around the car for about ten minutes, then sat inside for the same amount. He told me the story of KIA, models, etc. I liked the car in principle (it was still a pre-styling version). At home, I purposefully climbed into the Internet. At the forum, Cerato met with exceptional benevolence and love for his cars. According to the reviews, it turned out - this is what you need.

Strengths:

  • Comfort
  • Reliability

Weak sides:

  • Liquidity

Almost 5 years and 94,000 km have passed.

There is almost nothing to write, a native Korean (and a motor too), a 1.6 122 horse motor, an automatic machine, the car was operated every day.

For your money, it is comfortable, manageable, dynamic, low fuel consumption.

Strengths:

  • Eats 92 gasoline
  • Inexpensive to maintain
  • Good ground clearance and, accordingly, cross-country ability

Weak sides:

  • Timing chain, there would be a regular chain - there would be no price

Reviewed by Kia Cerato, 1.6,122 hp AKP (Kia Cerato) 2007

I would like to tell you a little about my car. Moreover, this is my first foreign car. Prior to that, I went exclusively to VAZs (experience of 19 years). And those who are going to buy a similar car or already own one will be interested in reading. So, everything is in order. Having sold the top ten in February this year (this is generally a separate sad story), the choice arose of what to take no more than 400,000 rubles. Naturally, a used foreign car, automatic transmission, sedan, preferably not Moscow, no older than 3-4 years old, "left-handed", well, all sorts of ABC and so on. I will not talk about the pain of choosing and searching for a suitable car, month-long moth-telepathy in Moscow and the region (inspection of cars) - for a long time and probably not interesting. I took an orphan in March, mileage 39,000 km, one owner, region. My joy knew no bounds.

The car after restyling, engine 1.6, 122 hp, almost top-of-the-line (there is no only cruise and panoramic sunroof), automatic transmission. I have been using it for 10 months, drove 13,000 km. Now the mileage is 54 t.km. The car is worth the money (395,000 at the time of purchase).

Appearance. The machine looks quite rich from the outside. Unlike her classmates (Lacetti, 9 Lancer). Personally, I like it very much, although I understand that it is in the old body. LCP is very weak! Once I was driving from Voronezh at night. Deserted highway M4, almost no one. And here, to my misfortune, at a speed of 140 km / h, I fly into a herd of some huge beetles crossing or flying over the highway. Not only was the whole car dirtied outside, there were 3 fresh chips on the hood and front left fender (fortunately, not to the point of metal)!

Strengths:

  • Inexpensive sedan
  • Inexpensive spare parts
  • Repairable by yourself
  • Powerful and reliable engine
  • Low fuel consumption (on the highway)
  • Not of interest to hijackers
  • "Eats" AI-92 (considering the high cost of fuel)
  • Roomy salon

Weak sides:

  • Weak paintwork
  • Noisy and stiff suspension
  • High fuel consumption in the city
  • Marked salon
  • Not entirely accurate readings of the on-board computer
  • Too "sharp" steering wheel

Review of Kia 1.6 L, 122 HP (Kia Cerato) 2008 Part 2

Not much time has passed since the first review was written, so I will be brief.

After the summer of 2010, which turned out to be quite hot, one can estimate the work of climate control on a solid five. The preset temperature in the passenger compartment is maintained normally, while the fan operates at medium speed, at suburban speeds (climate in AUTO mode), air is drawn from the street, in the city when free traffic is mixed, at low speeds there is recirculation. The difference with the temperature outside up to twelve degrees (did not try it anymore), for the sake of experiment, measurements were carried out using a room thermometer, not connected in any way with the car.

With the onset of cool weather, the car was changed. Running diagnostics were combined with this event. As a result, it was found that a set of front brake pads and a rather high degree of wear of the front brake discs are suitable for the final. More servicemen were not alarmed by anything (the work was carried out at a specialized service, but not at the "officials").

Strengths:

  • Quite high reliability
  • Low cost of consumables

Weak sides:

  • The default is low quality basic acoustics

Review of Kia Cerato 1.6 (Kia Cerato) 2007

Good day to all!

Please do not judge strictly, this is my first review and hopefully not the only one.

I will make a small lyrical digression, I think that a review should be written after enough time for an objective assessment of the car. I am a regular reviewer of reviews, some (probably most) deserve attention, as they are written objectively and after sufficient time has passed for the appropriate assessment. The reviews written on the second day of car operation, with a run of 300 km, cause a grin.

Strengths:

  • Omnivorous
  • Reliability
  • Inexpensive maintenance

Weak sides:

  • Noise isolation
  • Quality paintwork

Review Kia 1.6 122 HP (Kia Cerato) 2007

At the time of the sale, a little less than six months and more than fifty thousand kilometers had passed since my last review. Sold for 400 oblique. I do not know whether it is a lot or a little, but I was completely satisfied, considering that for chips on the front end, they counted about 15 tons in CASCO and a CASCO return of 7.6 + 340 for OSAGO.

Now what bad happened.

Strengths:

  • Reliability
  • Price in moderation
  • Cheapness of components

Weak sides:

  • Noise isolation
  • Racks
  • Light salon
  • The steering column is height adjustable only

Review of Kia Cerato EX 1.6 (122 hp manual transmission) (Kia Cerato) 2008

Good day!

Finally I decided to write a review about one of the currently available machines.

At the time of buying Tseratka, I owned a 2007 Renault Megan II, but since I occasionally shared it with my father and was going to give it to him, I got the idea to buy myself a separate car. With a little thought, I chose a Ford Focus 2 for my future car, or the same megan as mine, only with a 1.6 liter engine.

Strengths:

  • Reliability
  • Spacious salon
  • Profitability

Weak sides:

  • Suspension knocks
  • Marked salon
  • Weak paintwork
  • Small clearance

Review of Kia 1.6 L, 122 HP (Kia Cerato) 2008

I bought the car from an authorized dealer in January 2009. Before that, I went to the products of the domestic auto industry, first to used ones, then to a new one - it was enough. The choice had to be made between Mitsubishi Lancer X, Nissan Tiida, Chevrolet Lacetti and, in fact, Kia Cerato. The final decision was influenced by a slightly lower price with a slightly richer list of options. Since I took the car in the winter, the first impressions are winter.

Positive - in the cabin: the stove heats up perfectly, the heated seats start to warm up well after 3 minutes after switching on, nothing freezes, the windows do not freeze, nothing creaks in the cabin, it starts up well (in the winter from 2009 to 2010 it was up to -32 and there were no problems ), the speeds are switched easily (a little tighter on cold, but not annoying). In winter, the presence of TCS allows you to confidently get under way.

Negative - in the cold season there is a knock in the suspension, apparently caused by the design of the struts. The stronger the frost, the louder the knock, at + temperatures it disappears. The first winter was unnerving, the second I got used to it. The official service offered to change the racks (free of charge), but they did not give guarantees to eliminate the knock - I decided not to bother.

Strengths:

  • Good equipment
  • Low price
  • Profitability
  • Reliability
  • Cheap consumables
  • Good road behavior

Weak sides:

  • Suspension knocks during the cold season
  • Dull appearance
  • Lack of regular music
  • Poor sound insulation

In addition to the main review, I want to talk about add. investments that were made between an interval of 30,000 and 40,000 km.

Strengths:

Review Kia 1.6 L - 122 HP (Kia Cerato) 2007

Before this car I drove only in our car industry. The last one was the new VAZ 2114, on which I traveled exactly a year and 35000 km. Did not do anything. But in order to increase its significance, I have long wanted a foreign car and for the money was guided by Focus 2+. But there were frenzied queues, and my uncle and I were going to a nearby town, where a friend could bring a 2+ focus from him in February 2008. But at the same time being the deputy. Dealer director Ford popularly explained that for that kind of money you can take something else, but not Ford and uttered a joke: as they say in Europe, if a gypsy burns out, gold teeth and Ford keys will remain (big dear cheap), this is an opinion to anyone I do not impose, because I myself did not drive these cars.

I did not argue and began to painfully choose which typewriter to buy. After a month of torture, I leaned towards Serato, firstly, a dealer in our city, and secondly, a carD class, and good reviews from my two friends.I came to the dealer, chose a complete set and color, I wanted a light, but not white, mechanics, because the automatic machine is dull and not only on these machines, but also on everyone who has less than 150 hp, besides, climate control, for which special thanks. Shook hands and go.When leaving the salon, I immediately realized that a car with ABS needs studded tires, otherwise I will drive like a kettle, I did not regret money, I bought NOKIAN HP-5.

First impressions - I was delighted: super dynamics, brakes and stability control system - one joy. After driving 1,500 km, the cigarette lighter fuse burned out, but it was his own fault - he left his 3-year-old son in the cabin, and he smoked on the street, he studied the system there, pressing his finger and did not let go until I got into the car. They changed it quickly, though they ripped off 240 rubles for checking the electronics. By 2500 km, bugs appeared in the front of the panel (fortunately, he glued his domestic cars himself, he had experience), bought a door seal for a VAZ 2110 and sealed it between the windshield and the panel - the beetle is dead, but the seal is not visible, as if it should be so ... In the summer, when the condo works at its maximum, 20-30 horses disappear somewhere, but as soon as the salon cools down and the condo works at 20-30%, the horses return to the engine herd. Starting in winter did not cause any complaints, which I am glad, but I had to start after the night and -30C.

Strengths:

  • Spacious salon
  • Dynamics (at least on manual transmission)
  • Reliability
  • Security
  • Unhealthy
  • Purebred Korean Build

Weak sides:

  • Noisy after 120 km / h
  • Light salon

Review Kia 1.6 122hp fur gearbox set SPORT (Kia Cerato) 2007

Realizing all the social responsibility to the possible potential owners of this car brand, I want to talk about my car, reflecting all the positive negative aspects of owning this car. So first things first!

Part 1. Car selection.

The options under consideration for a budget of 500-550 tr for the fall of 2007 were as follows: Ford Focus, Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda Civic, Mazda 3 (sedan) and the just appeared Nissan Tiida. Focus and Honda dropped out due to waiting queues, and what was offered in stock was much more expensive than the budget, Lancer dropped out because of the upcoming update, Mazda 3 due to tightness in the back seat (I checked all the cars sitting down by myself, my height is 188 cm). Only the option of Nissan and Kia was seriously considered, and rationality won in this dispute, in principle, both options are not bad, but Nissan was with a 1.6-liter engine and dynamics of 12 seconds to 100 km / h at a price of 555 tr., And Kia with 1, 6 liters and dynamics of 10 seconds up to 100 km / h for 515 thousand rubles for the SPORT package with a full electric package, sports body kit, climate control, etc. and in the back of a sedan (the charm of hatchbacks did not appeal to me then, I wanted classics, and Tiida did not have a sedan and it looked somehow lurid). In general, it was decided to take Cerato, and for the difference in price to issue CASCO, OSAGO and the setting of a multimedia center, since the absence of a head unit in the KIA allowed this.

I used to work in car companies (sale, service), so when I chose the latter, having an idea of car cars, their operation, problems and cost, I had to smash my head - what can you get for your "up to $ 20 thousand".

The options were: Lancer 9th, Lacetti, Astra classic, Aktavia Tour, Fabia.

Lancer 9th expensive and modest (MOT, equipment);
Lacetti - American consumer goods (it was embarrassing that it was the brainchild of General Motors), in addition, I heard about problems with the rail, galvanized only under the arches and then on the one hand, although at first I considered it as a candidate for purchase;
Astra classic - too classic and the equipment is weak;
Skoda - not so Volkswagen is only worse and cheaper and in general it is still expensive (especially the unreasonably expensive To).

I accidentally drew attention to Cherato when I looked at all the salons that I came across (except for Chinese and Soviet). At the time of purchase, I no longer worked in one of them, especially I bought a car from competitors)).

I read the reviews the same way - they were not very much about the Russian assembly, but they do not get to us on the market. At first it was a practical choice, the ratio of price-quality-equipment, but when I got to know better I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamics and driving characteristics, which are at the level of a completely different price category, because I have a rich experience of driving both on the cheapest and on very expensive and fast ones, I had something to compare with, but I thought that I had no money for this pleasure.

With its 1.6 it produces 122 hp. And the multi-link rear suspension, together with ABS + EBD, allows you to feel confident at speed - the car goes like a rut. The machine obeys you, and it's nice. The only thing you remember when cornering at high speeds is that it is still a sedan that has a rear overhang.

Strengths:

  • Driving performance

  • Inner space
  • Weak sides:

  • noise insulation (engine after 4000, noise from wheels and suspension)

  • in places very plastic interior
  • At the time of releaseKIA Cerato 1- 2nd generation, the brand itself,KIA was not distinguished by its prestige. Then, in 2005, our people just started to perceive Korean cars as something normal, and not consumer goods. And it is worth saying that in the formation of the image of KIA as a manufacturer of solid and high-quality cars, the very first Cerato played a rather significant role.

In the development and adjustment of the production of KIA Cerato 1, 220 million dollars were invested. This car was also assembled in Ukrainian Lutsk, and what is even more interesting:— in terms of sales, at some point, she bypassed even the so beloved in UkraineLanos, and became the best-selling foreign car in Ukraine.

Today, you can buy Kia Cerato 1 for 6,000$. For its price, this car is comparable to the very first Focus, or the second Astra. True, the latter, for the same money, will be a couple of years older.

    • About the appearance of KIA Cerato 1

Take a look at the photo of KIA Cerato 1 - does this car look worse than the 9th Lancer? First Cerate, produced as a sedan and as a hatchback. Moreover, the latter, with its appearance, looks more like a station wagon. This is a similarity to the first Mazda 3.

The base sedan, with a 1.6L engine and manual transmission, has a curb weight of 1169kg. According to the owners of KIA Cerato 1, rust spots often appear on the hood of their car, caused by blows of rubble.

In 2007, a modernization was carried out over Cerato, such cars are easiest to recognize by a transparent strip at the bottom of the lanterns.Cerato , in a more expensive versionEX , already from the factory, were equipped with foglights.

    • About the salon:

Cerate of the first generation, showed itself rather poorly onEuro Ncap.
There she scored only 3 stars, whereas in those years, for golf-class cars, 5 stars was already the norm. Performed byLX , in the base of Cerato, there were two, frontairbag -a, heated front seats, and an adjustable steering wheel.

It is also worth noting that 345 liters of trunk volume, by the standards of the golf class, is really not enough.

    • Kia Cerato 1 specifications

Initially, the base engine of the KIA Cerato 1 was 1.6 at 104hp. But, after restyling, its power increased to 122 horses. A more powerful, two-liter modification, has 143 hp on the front wheels and 186 N. m of thrust. Quite good performance, given the not so high compression ratio of 10.1:1.

By the way, thanks to the timing chain drive, the KIA Cerato 1.6 motor is significantly more reliable than its two-liter modification.

Of course, we can say that the same Honda, for its civilian models, removed 150hp from two liters, already at the end of the 80s, but it should be understood that among the owners of KIA, most drivers are calm people who, in their own manner rides are not racers.

In Europe, diesel engines of 1.5 and 2.0 liters are widely used. With a capacity of 102 and 113hp, respectively.

    • Outcomes:

KIA Cerato 1, it is worth buying with a 1.6 liter engine. Yes, with the motor 2.0 leap from their seats, and even more on the move, a little stronger, but this engine is not as robust - at breakage of the timing belt,— it will be a very big headache. A two-liter modification is worth buying only at a more attractive cost initially.

But if you need 2 liters, it is better to find a Honda, albeit an older one, but it will be completely different emotions.

Kia Cerato debuted in 2003. The car was offered as a sedan and 5-door hatchback. The American version was called the Spectra and was powered by only a 2-liter gasoline engine. In 2006, the model was updated. The headlights, taillights, trunk lid and front bumper received cosmetic changes.

Kia Serato still looks attractive. The interior will be liked less. Inside, even the rear passengers are spacious, but the finishing materials are not impressive. In addition, they wear out quickly, and the plastic begins to creak over time. On the other hand, passengers have at their disposal a lot of storage space for small things, a spacious glove box and glass holders. Trunk volume 345 liters.

The Korean is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Elantra XD. In the 2006 EuroNCAP crash tests, the sedan earned three stars out of five. He received the same amount for protecting children in car seats.

    Engines

The Kia Cerat has three gasoline and three diesel engines. However, cars with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol dominate among the ads. There are also proposals with a 2-liter gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel.

Gasoline 1.6 liters provides quite satisfactory performance. And the chance of running into expensive repairs is minimal. In 2006, instead of a 105-horsepower unit (G4ED), a 122-horsepower unit (4GFC) was installed. The first one is equipped with hydraulic valve clearance compensators, and the second one needs to adjust the valve clearance by selecting the tappets (every 100,000 km). The 2-liter engine (G4GC) has no hydraulic lifters. The valve clearances are adjusted with washers.

The gas distribution mechanism of the 122-horsepower 4GFC is driven by a chain. Its resource is more than 250-300 thousand km. Sometimes there is a premature stretching of the chain - closer to 200,000 km. Even incidents were recorded - open circuit and bending of valves. But all these troubles are isolated cases. It is worth noting that a batch of 2007 engines had problems with the chain tensioner. Its rod lacked free play. Later, the deficiency was eliminated.

The pre-styled version of the 1.6-liter engine (G4ED) and the 2-liter (G4GC) have a combined timing drive. The timing belt is connected to only one camshaft. And the camshafts are connected to each other by a short chain located on the back of the engine. The chain resource is more than 300,000 km.

The gas distribution mechanism of diesel engines is driven by a chain. It can stretch after 200,000 km.

Among the common problems are engine mounts, which have a resource of about 100-150 thousand km. Attachments, as a rule, do not require attention up to 200-250 thousand km.

    Transmission

The engines were combined with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Moreover, diesels could only be combined with a manual transmission.

Problems with the machine are rare and occur after 200-250 thousand km. Fortunately, repairs are not difficult and relatively inexpensive - up to 40-50 thousand rubles. To extend the life of the automatic transmission, remember to renew the oil in the box every 60,000 km.

The mechanics start to bother a little earlier. After 100,000 km - a deceased release bearing (from 1,000 rubles), and after 100-150 thousand km - a leaking clutch master cylinder (2,800 rubles). After 150-200 thousand km, it is the turn of the clutch (from 5,000 rubles per set). It should be noted that in cars with diesel engines, the resource of these components is less by about a third. The manual transmission itself runs for a long time.

After 100-150 thous. Km is the outer CV joint to noise (from 2 000 rubles). More often the reason is a leaky anther. Drive oil seals serve 200-300 thousand km.

    Chassis

MacPherson struts work on the front axle, and a multi-link scheme on the rear. Road behavior can be criticized due to large body roll and oversteer.

The durability of the chassis is not objectionable, apart from the springs. One of them can break down after 100-150 thousand km (about 3,000 rubles). The original shock absorbers and support bearings of the front struts last a little longer.

Front wheel bearings run more than 100-150 thousand km, and rear ones - over 200-250 thousand km.

Front suspension silent blocks and ball joints may require attention after 150-200 thousand km, and the rear one earlier - after 100,000 km. After 100,000 km, the steering rack may knock.

    Other problems and malfunctions

The body of the Cerato is not prone to corrosion. However, with intensive use in salty winters, red spots may appear on the rapids after 7-8 years. There are even known cases when the rapids rotted through and through. Rust attacks from the inside.

There are interruptions in the work of the central lock. One of the reasons is the jamming of the lock mechanism. The manufacturer even advised to grind off the "extra" tongue protrusion a little. Less commonly, the problem is caused by a microswitch failure.

Problems with the air conditioner after 150-200 thousand km may arise due to the bearing of the compressor clutch pulley. ABS sensors may have to be replaced after 150-200 thousand km.

    Conclusion

The first generation Kia Cerato is a successful model. It rarely breaks down and is cheap enough to maintain and repair. Any problems are solely caused by age and excessive mileage. For the inexperienced shopper, Serato is a smart choice.
