The dealership said that there is no need to do anticorrosive treatment. the body undergoes anti-corrosion treatment and is not subject to corrosion if there is no interference (welding, straightening, etc.). Looking ahead, I will say that the officials did not deceive and after three years of operation there was not a single hint of rust on the car, although chips and 2-3 dents were present, one cannot do without this. This is probably strange, especially after the wild criticism of the paintwork of Korean cars. By the way, the assembly was Russian (Izhevsk). I did not install the protection of the rear wheel arches (the protection of the front arches comes from the factory). This did not contribute to soundproofing, but I knew I was not buying a Mercedes.

After a neat run-in, the car went more cheerful. I refuel only at proven gas stations, after 1 year of operation, at each refueling, on the advice of reputable friends, I began to add a special additive to the gas tank. After that, the engine power increased slightly. The low ground clearance and softness of the suspension made it necessary to be careful not only on bad roads, but also on tracks with a crushed undulating profile. I quickly got used to it. I accelerated the car on a good road to 180 km per hour, but this is not its speed, the engine sound becomes terrible and the tachometer shows 6500 rpm. The engine is generally noisy, but very reliable (the prototype is the Mazda 323 engine). The service interval is 15,000 km, but I made it 10,000 km and the engine never ate oil. I immediately left the guarantee due to inadequate prices and did not regret it, tk. for three years my swallow has not had a single refusal. All repairs in three years - replacement of rubber bushings of the stabilizer and stabilizer struts, the issue price is 2 kopecks.

The car is spacious in the back, the family was in a panic when I decided to sell it. But that's life. A swallow in perfect condition pleases another owner, and I paid an advance for Nissan Teanu 2.5 V and now I need to wait 1.5 months. And this is no longer a swallow, but a black reptile. Living conditions have changed and before my choice, I test-drive Teana 2.5 V6 and her classmates (I will not name it out of political correctness).

Engine overview

As is clear from the table, for this motor, the classic layout of the power unit was used. It is in-line, which allows for optimal load distribution. Also, the cylinders are placed vertically, this approach greatly simplifies the operation process.

The cylinder block is cast entirely from high quality cast iron. The block includes:

  • cylinders;
  • grease supply channels;
  • cooling jacket.

Cylinders are numbered from the crankshaft pulley. Also, various elements are cast on the block, which are fasteners of mechanisms. The oil pan is attached to the lower part, the cylinder head is attached to the upper platform. Common faults

Despite the relatively high reliability, S6D motors can still break. There may be plenty of reasons for this. We list only the most common options.

  • Engine is not gaining sufficient power. The first thing to check is the air filter. In many cases, it gets dirty much faster than the manufacturer foresees. It is also often caused by a problem with the throttle valve.
  • A whitish foam appears in the oil. Coolant has entered the crankcase, identify and eliminate the cause. Always replace the grease.
  • Low pressure in the lubrication system. Check the oil level, low pressure is often a symptom of too little oil. Also, this symptom can appear when the filter or conductive channels are dirty.
  • Knocking valves. Most often, this is a sign of wear on the valve working surfaces. But, sometimes the reason is in the hydraulic pushers. Such noise requires careful diagnosis.
  • Engine vibration. Replacement of the pillows on which the motor is fixed is required. They are made of rubber, it reacts poorly to negative temperatures, so the service life of the pillows usually does not exceed 2 years.

What modifications are more common

As in the production of any budget car, the main emphasis was placed on inexpensive modifications. Therefore, the most produced versions were 1.6 MT Standard. They are the simplest and cheapest. But, they are not the most popular with drivers.

The main disadvantage of the 1.6 MT Standard modification is the almost complete absence of additional equipment, to which drivers are accustomed.

If you love dynamics and comfort, then 1.6 MT Comfort or 1.6 MT Comfort + is a good choice. They perform well on the road and also have a very comfortable interior. Soft plastic and high-quality imitation leather make the car as comfortable as the C-class cars from the 90s. Also, it is these modifications that are the most reliable.

For people who prefer automatic transmissions, there are two options with a similar gearbox. 1.6 AT The standard practically does not differ from its analogue with mechanics, the only difference is in the transmission. If you need a comfortable car, then it is better to get 1.6 AT Lux, this is the most expensive and packed option in the lineup. But when choosing an automatic transmission, it is worth remembering that the engine is not powerful enough here, therefore, cars with a machine will lose in dynamics.

The production of the KIA Spectra car model is carried out in Russia. He already managed to gain his popularity back in 2000.   • The pistons are made of aluminum alloy. In order to reduce the pressure of the piston on the cylinder wall during the working stroke, the axis of the hole is displaced under the piston pin relative to the diametral plane of the piston. The cylindrical surface of the piston head on its surface has annular grooves for one oil scraper and two compression rings.
  • Lubrication of the loaded parts takes place in the KIA Spectra under pressure, and the rest due to the splashing of oil that flows from the gaps formed between the mating parts.   • The cooling system on the Spectra itself is sealed and equipped with an expansion tank. Its device consists of a cooling jacket, which is made in casting and in a block that surrounds the cylinders. Then these are the combustion chambers and gas channels in the head. A centrifugal water pump is activated for forced circulation of the coolant.
  • The fuel module installed in the fuel tank is part of the power supply system; the system is also characterized by the presence of a throttle assembly, a filter for fine fuel cleaning and a regulator of its pressure, a fuel line, injectors and an air filter;
  • The ignition system controlled by the controller or the electronic control unit is microprocessor based. The distributed fuel injection system is controlled by the controller. During operation, the ignition system does not need additional maintenance or adjustment;
  • The power unit of the KIA Spectra is installed on four supports of two upper elements on the right and left sides, which account for the bulk of the unit and two lower elements that compensate for the torque from the transmission and that occurs when the car starts moving from a standstill, accelerates or decelerates the load.

A couple of weeks ago I sold my Kia Spectra and is now ready to write a review about it. I had a Kia with a 1.6 engine, two camshafts, 5MKPP, from a complete set of 4 electric windows, power steering, 2 pillows, central locking, alarm, toning, velor interior. Diamond silver color. Owned the car for a year. A girl went to me and in all likelihood it was her first car. This was evidenced by several small dents and scratches on the body. But the price was also low. We arrived with friends, looked, assessed the condition, listened, drove, checked everything for performance - we take it. We took in another city, the distance is about 300 km. The first impression on the road is simplicity and lightness. And of course the warmth)) Because. it was in winter, outside -12 degrees, a little chilled. We got into the car on a soft velvet, turned on the stove, and warmed up. Immediately a pleasant impression). I want to note that the stove works perfectly, it is warm even at the first and second stove speed and does not buzz. But there is still one drawback in it - there is no tunnel to the rear passengers. While the front may already be hot, the back isn't warm enough. Immediately on the road drove the jamb of the past mistress. The driver's wiper was jumping and the washer was not working. Fortunately, the weather was frosty and the track was not dirty. We arrived without straining. Later, at home, I tightened the wiper nut, and he began to work as it should. But with the glass washer it was not so simple. As it turned out, the past hostess did not fill in the anti-freeze liquid in time, and a solid piece of ice formed in the washer reservoir. I had to remove the engine boot in the front arch, remove the reservoir, all pipes and nozzles, and warm up the houses in a warm place. The motor turned out to be alive - this is the most important thing. I put everything together in reverse order and it worked! Now I'll tell you about the car in general.
Before that, I had to drive my father's VAZ-2107, Moskvich-2141, I had a Mercedes W124 E230, a Mercedes A160, so I will compare directly with these cars, although in some cases this is not entirely correct.
In general, the car is quite unpretentious, confidently holds the road, the suspension is soft, the steering is light and precise. The design is pretty, everything is done simply, without problems. Now about everything in order.
Body: As they say, the Russian assembly leaves much to be desired. When driving over steep bumps, the B-pillar bursts at the driver's door. It feels like he’s about to break)) My car is 2005, no corrosion was found, but the iron is very thin. Small finger dents remain on the hood and boot lid if pushed hard. Therefore, it is better to close the hood with a throw, and not press on it. If you suddenly push the car, it is also better not to hold on to the hood.
The doors are very light, they close perfectly.
Suspension: Simple yet soft. Soft due to soft struts. This is Spectra's disease. When driving over steep speed bumps or sharp pits, it knocks out the A-pillars. It is better to move at an angle, then it does not feel so much. My friend Spectra with a native mileage of 30,000 km, he is the first owner, and the same thing. So that's okay. Of course, something can change, if you put the racks harder - I don't know, I haven't tried it. Overall, the suspension is easy to repair and maintain. The ground clearance is normal. The lowest point is the engine guard and the front bumper. The bumper did not hit, but the protection clung everywhere. I don't know what to do without her, a very necessary thing on our roads. Suspension in fuller good condition may emit extraneous sounds. Did the diagnostics of the chassis, they said everything is fine. And there is still some light tapping. Apparently this is normal))
Engine and gearbox: there are no complaints about the engine, it works everywhere and always, it starts up in any frost. Poured synthetics Esso. I didn't have to change the timing belt. I still had my own factory battery, which was 6 years old, and it started even at minus 25 without any problems. Consumption of 92 gasoline on the highway turned out 7 liters, and in the city 9-9.5 liters, in winter 10-10.5 liters. I think it's a bit too much for a 1.6 engine. Doesn't eat oil at all. The dynamics of acceleration to hundreds somewhere in 13.5 seconds. For me personally, this is a very long time. Before that, I drove cars that accelerated from 10 to 11 seconds to 100 km / h. After 3000 rpm, the engine is sluggish and hard to spin. There are no complaints about the transmission, all gears are engaged clearly and effortlessly. Does not forgive not fully squeezed clutch. A rattle, very unpleasant to the brain, is heard)) The only remark is that the gearshift lever is too long, at first it is very uncomfortable and unusual. My friend filed it right away as he bought the car.
Brakes: I had a complete set without ABS. The brakes work perfectly. They begin to grasp already at the beginning of pressing the brake pedal. You need to get used to them.
Comfort: The salon is really big. There is plenty of room in the back for oversized passengers. The trunk is roomy. When changing gears, the driver does not touch the passenger sitting next to him. The steering wheel rotates in place with one finger. The interior is soft and pleasant velor. But that's probably all. There is practically no noise isolation. On the road, a lot of noise comes from the wheels. There is also a feeling that there is absolutely no Shumka between the Torpedo and the engine. Engine noise becomes unbearable after 3000 rpm. When we looked at the car before buying, when I idled the lawn, it seemed to me that the resonator was broken. I ask my friends on the street if a muffler or a resonator is roaring, they say, no, everything is fine)) Strange as it may seem, but the noise isolation on the Spectrum is no better than that of the VAZ-2109. Another drawback is cheap squeaky plastic. Crickets live everywhere. Behind in the body pillar when driving was heard some kind of strong hum. The car was not damaged, the paint was dear, the expert looked. Here I repeat again, the Russian assembly leaves much to be desired))
Prices and spare parts: There are a lot of spare parts in all shops, both native and various substitutes. But with prices is a different story. There are native spare parts for a penny at all. For example, the front suspension stabilizer struts 200 rubles per piece, the front stabilizer rubber bands 50 rubles per piece. My father bought the same for a VAZ-2107, they cost 49 rubles / piece from him)) Front brake pads 700 rubles, rear 400 rubles. But I want to note the quality of the Korean spare parts. The front pads began to creak terribly after a month, I had to change it again, bought my own branded Hyundai / Kia for 1400 rubles. I undermined a radiator, bought a Korean one for 2000 rubles, did not travel even a week, as it exploded with me. The break was in the factory seam. Then I had to buy another radiator for 3600 rubles +, of course, the repeated replacement of the antifreeze. For comparison, a radiator for a Mercedes W124 cost 4000 rubles. The difference is not big. What can I say about this, if you put a Korean spare part, then you will change it again soon. Better to use German or Japanese substitutes. But then the content of the Korean will not seem cheap to you.

Now I want to point out all the shortcomings that I noticed in this car.

If you rent a car to enjoy the comfort or emphasize your status, then you have to look for something else. Take it to those who have driven domestic cars before. If you had a bigger car, you will disappoint yourself.

The cooling system, equipped with a special expansion tank, is completely sealed. The combustion chamber cools down due to the coolant circulating through special channels. The engine works as follows:

  1. the rotation of the camshafts is carried out from the crankshaft by means of a reinforced toothed belt;
  2. the camshafts, acting through hydraulic lifters, set the tappet valves in motion.

Oil is supplied to the five-point crankshaft through special drills. Loaded parts are lubricated under pressure, the rest are lubricated in the process of splashing oil flowing out of the gaps.
