Hyundai Solaris: Control lamps and indicators. The check of the engine of the Hyundai Solaris lit up the check of the engine

It often happens that an emergency sensor light comes on on the instrument panel in an electronically controlled vehicle. If the car starts up, continues to work, but the check of the engine comes on, this means that the inclusion occurred in emergency mode. Some models of modern cars (Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porshe, VW) are equipped with a system capable of self-diagnosis, errors in decrypted form are sent to the information panel. But drivers do not always manage to understand why the check of engine malfunction caught fire.

The driver turns on the ignition to start the engine. If the check of the engine flashes at the same time, this should not cause concern, since it will soon go out. But a burning signal, when the engine is running, indicates a malfunction in its operation.

In the event of a malfunction in the operation of the power unit, an error is recorded in the memory of the control unit in the form of a coded signal. In this case, the engine check is lit on the dashboard. If the car does not provide automatic diagnostics, you need to connect a scanning device to a special connector. The scanner reads the code and performs a detailed error decryption.

With the development of electronics, the Check Engine indicator has evolved from a simple malfunction sensor to a signaling device with many functions. A modern engine check when flashing reports the following inconsistencies:

  • improper composition of fuel mixtures;
  • malfunctions of settings in the ignition system;
  • sensor failures.

It is also responsible for reporting non-powertrain issues. To identify the place of occurrence and the nature of the breakdown, the master will need professional knowledge, experience, special devices and tools.

Important: The electronic unit ECU gives a command to flash the indicator, as a result of detecting errors of varying degrees of complexity. Among them, there are problems, both serious and minor. For the purpose of diagnostics, it is recommended to suspend the operation of the vehicle. Experienced car owners often independently determine the reason for including the check, without waiting for a visit to the service station.

Signs of major malfunctions and causes of the indicator signal

If, while the car is moving, the Engine check comes on after refueling at a gas station, the most likely reason is the inadequate quality of the filled gasoline. In this case, the following symptoms are observed:

  1. Decrease in power.
  2. Interruptions in engine operation (stalls).
  3. Detonation due to incomplete combustion of fuel.
  • add a portion of higher quality fuel to the tank;
  • drain recently filled gasoline, clean the fuel system.

If the check does not want to go out after the cause has been eliminated, it is necessary to delete the error recorded in the device memory using a special computer program.

Checking the oil level and its condition

The next most important causes of the signal are overheating of the motor, a decrease in the level of lubricant in the internal combustion engine. It is recommended to check the engine temperature. If there is no overheating, check the volume and condition of the oil. After checking the level, add the missing amount of lubricant. Using a clean paper napkin, the quality and composition of the engine oil is checked according to the following criteria:

  1. Colour.
  2. Consistency.
  3. The presence of mechanical impurities.
  4. The smell of burning.

If everything is in order with the quality and quantity of oil, the engine starts to eliminate unusual sounds, noises during operation both in idle mode and under load.

If non-standard noise effects of a running engine are detected against the background of a burning check, it is recommended to send the car to the nearest service company. Moving the car on your own is not recommended; delivery is carried out by towing or in another convenient way. Further operation can lead to serious damage and costly repairs to the elements of the power unit.

Blinking indicator and triple engine

When the check flashes and the engine troit at the same time, it is necessary to inspect the elements of the ignition system:

  • wiring;
  • coil.

The triple effect occurs when only three combustion chambers work instead of all four. The engine begins to triple in the absence of injection of the air-fuel mixture into one cylinder.

Used and dirty spark plugs also cause the Check Engine warning light to illuminate. In order not to think for a long time how to remove the engine check, you just need to clean or completely replace the outdated spark plugs with a new set.

Testing the ignition coil is reduced to measuring the resistance at the terminals and testing for the ability to create a blue spark.

What to do if the engine check caught fire due to failures in the fuel supply system

In case of violations associated with the flow of fuel into the cylinders, it is recommended to check the condition of the spray nozzles. Their holes must be cleaned, flushed, if necessary, completely replaced with new devices.

A decrease in pressure in the fuel system is caused by malfunctions:

  1. Gasoline pump (in carburetor, injection engines).
  2. Fuel filter
  3. High pressure fuel pump (in diesel).

If the ignition of the check is caused by a failure of the catalytic converter, drivers simply remove it from the exhaust system and then turn off the corresponding sensor (oxygen).

How to reset a check engine error

In the event of critical errors in the operation of the engine, the information is recorded in the ECU memory and is not deleted on its own even after the defect is eliminated. In this case, the check continues to glow. To reset the recorded error with their own hands, experienced car owners perform the following operations:

  • warm up the motor to operating temperatures;
  • disconnect the terminal on the battery for a while (from 5 to 15 minutes);
  • restore the connection with the terminal;
  • insert and turn the ignition key without reaching the start (while all indicators on the devices are on);
  • wait one minute;
  • turn the key in the opposite direction.

Most often, such actions lead to the desired result, the error code disappears from the memory of the ECU unit. The check stops glowing after turning on and running the engine in idle mode for three minutes.

If the terminal disconnection method did not work, the indicator continues to blink, the error from the memory of the control device is removed using special computer programs through the OBD diagnostic connector of the pinout.

The control unit can also cause the check signal to turn on if individual elements of the ECU are partially or completely damaged.

Car: Hyundai Solaris. Asks

: Smirnov Kirill. Essence of the question: How to reset the "CHECK"?

Hello! I have a Hyundai Solaris, and the "check" is constantly on! I already went to the service station and found out what the problem is. The first time they threw it to me, and now it appears again, while the behavior of the car has not changed in any way. Please tell me how I can reset it myself, because I don't want to pay for it again in the service.

Diagnostics and removal of errors that occur on Hyundai Solaris may be needed by the vehicle owner in various situations when there is no desire to do this work in a certified service center.

It is not difficult to do this work, the main thing is to know what you can remove yourself errors related to the first level , that is, those that are not recorded in the ECU memory, which do not significantly affect the operation of the car and its devices. Because only a special dealer device (scanner - approx.) Can remove such errors, one of these errors is an error in the car's airbags.

When are errors removed on their own?

Among all the important malfunctions on the Hyundai Solaris, some can be reset on their own after carrying out one or another repair.

So for example error codes with 301 by 304 , talking about a spark in one of the cylinders (the last digit of the error refers specifically to the cylinder - approx.).

Accordingly, when these gaps are detected, the ECU will give a signal in the form of a burning "CHECK", which cannot be removed without erasing the code or resetting the terminal from the battery.

This error is completely removed, only by replacing the non-working candle with a new one, after which the error will disappear by itself.

Self-dumping of a check on Hyundai Solaris

It is possible to reset errors on your own on Hyundai Solaris thanks to the OBD-II protocol and the presence of a special adapter with a diagnostic device, whether it be a smartphone or a computer that supports Bluetooth wireless technology.

In order to carry out an error check on the car, we perform the following steps:

Diagnostic and error reset process without OBD-II

On Hyundai Solaris, you can diagnose and remove errors without even having any additional devices at hand.

Diagnostics (this method does not work)

The method described below runs all over the Internet. We checked on our editorial machine. He does not work. We cannot delete the method, as some owners may think that it works.

Rebuttal on video:

Removing errors

  • In order to remove the error, it is necessary to do the entire above-mentioned course of work from 1 to 5 points, and without turning off the ignition, press the "gas" again.
  • After that, turn off and turn on the ignition, start the engine.
  • If the progress of the work was done correctly, the error should be removed.

As you could see for yourself, there is nothing difficult in removing the error on Hyundai Solaris yourself, no.

In the video, the check is burning and the Hyundai Solaris stalls

Many of us have faced such a problem as the inclusion of an indication of the engine icon (Check engine ...), the appearance of which scares the drivers of cars. We offer you the 5 most common reasons why an engine check on the dashboard lights up.

The engine gauge icon usually appears without warning. The reason for the appearance of the Check engine cannot be immediately understood. Even if there is an auto diagnostics in the car (for example, in such cars as,), which scans all systems of the car for errors and, if any, displays a decryption on the information panel, the reasons for the appearance of the engine check will not be decrypted.

For most drivers, the appearance of this warning symbol on the instrument panel means that they urgently need to go to a car workshop to diagnose and eliminate the reason for which the engine check warning sign appeared. But in fact, in most cases, when the "Check" indication appears, it is possible, and in some cases, perhaps, to eliminate the cause on your own without a trip to a car service, which will save your money.

1. Replace the oxygen sensor (lambda probe)

The oxygen sensor in your car is part of the exhaust gas system that monitors how much oxygen is not burned out in the engine's combustion chamber. This sensor helps to monitor the fuel consumption of the vehicle. A malfunctioning oxygen sensor (lambda probe) means that the car computer receives incorrect data, which can significantly increase fuel consumption and reduce engine power. Most cars have 2 to 4 oxygen sensors. If you have a home car error scanner, then by connecting it to the car, you can easily find out which sensor needs to be replaced.

For what reason the oxygen sensor in the car becomes unusable: Over time, the sensor is covered with a layer of used oil and engine oil (oily soot), which reduces the accuracy of the sensor readings to regulate the gasoline mixture and distribute the optimal one. A malfunction of the oxygen sensor in the car leads not only to, but also to an increased content of harmful substances CO2 in the exhaust.

What needs to be done: If you do not replace a faulty car oxygen sensor, this can lead to the failure of your car's catalyst (may burst), which will result in costly repairs. The cost of new catalysts is very high due to the content of precious alloys in them. On some cars, there are several catalysts, the cost of which can go up to 90,000 rubles. So do not delay replacing the sensor. Although the replacement of the sensor and its cost is not very small, it is incommensurate with the cost of the exhaust gas neutralizer system. You can also save money on replacement by doing it yourself. Many car manuals have detailed instructions on how to replace the oxygen sensor yourself. If you know where the oxygen sensor is, then it will not be difficult for you to disconnect the faulty "lambda probe" and replace it with a new one. Remember that you cannot pull to replace this important element!

2. Check the fuel filler cap

Many drivers in most cases, when the "check engine" indication appears, will think about serious problems in the car's engine, but will not even think to check the tightness of the fuel system, which may be broken due to a defect or insufficiently tightened fuel filler cap. This is a very common cause of the "Check" engine icon.

The reason for the error: Leakage of the fuel system due to the passage of air, the fuel filler cap, will increase the fuel consumption of the car, for which the car diagnostic system will give an engine error by turning on the "Check engine" indication on the dashboard of the car.

What needs to be done: If, when the "Check" indication appears, your car has not lost power, and there are no sound signs of engine damage (knocking in the engine, hum, creaking, etc.), then first of all check the tightness of the gas tank. Your gas cap may be cracked or not tight enough. If the cover was not tight enough, then after tightening it all the way, continue driving the car for a while to see if the engine error disappears. To prevent an engine check from appearing for this reason, regularly check the fuel filler cap. Remember that periodically the cover must be replaced with a new one!

3. Car exhaust gas catalyst

The car catalyst helps the car to make the engine exhaust gas cleaner. It converts carbon monoxide and other harmful substances into harmless compounds. If your exhaust gas catalyst has become unusable, you will notice this not only when the engine badge (check) appears, but also long before that, when the car's power drops by 2 times. For example, when you press the gas pedal, the car, as before, will not have good acceleration dynamics.

Because of what the automobile catalyst can fail: if you regularly service your car, in accordance with the maintenance regulations of the car company, then the catalyst should not fail. The main reason for the failure of the catalyst is the untimely replacement of a faulty oxygen sensor, as well as irregular replacement of spark plugs, at the end of the expiration date. When the oxygen sensor or spark plugs are faulty, the conversion of carbon monoxide in the catalyst into harmless chemical elements stops, which leads to overheating of the catalyst, which can be damaged as a result.

What needs to be done: If your catalyst has become unusable, then you cannot drive the car, since the engine will not work correctly, warning about this by an indication on the dashboard with an engine icon (check). Also, your fuel consumption will be greatly increased, and there will be no engine thrust. Although replacing a catalyst is a very expensive repair, there is nowhere to go from repairs. Although there is an alternative to replacing the catalyst with a flame arrester, this is not a 100 percent option. Unfortunately, if you are not an experienced auto mechanic, then you cannot replace a faulty exhaust gas catalyst yourself. In any case, you will have to go to a car repair shop. Remember that timely replacement of oxygen sensors and spark plugs protects your catalytic converter from damage!

4. Replace MAF sensor

The mass air flow sensor regulates how much air must be added to the gasoline mixture for optimal fuel ignition. The sensor continuously informs the vehicle computer of the amount of oxygen supplied. A defective MAF sensor increases fuel consumption, increases CO2 levels in the exhaust gas, and decreases engine power and ride comfort. Also, with a faulty sensor, poor acceleration dynamics is observed. In cold weather, a car with a faulty sensor will not start well.

What are the reasons for the failure of the mass air flow sensor: Most sensor failures occur due to improper installation of the air filter during its scheduled replacement. Also, if you do not regularly change the air filter, as required by the vehicle maintenance schedule recommended by the manufacturer, the MAF sensor may fail.

What needs to be done: In theory, you can drive for a long time with a broken MAF sensor (several weeks or months). But you will notice that the longer you drive, the more fuel consumption increases. Replacing a sensor in a car service is not that expensive, since the work itself does not take much time and is quite simple. The main costs are related to the cost of the sensor, which for some car models can be 11,000-14,000 rubles if it is an original sensor or up to 6000 rubles if it is an analog substitute. Replacing the sensor yourself is very easy. But due to the low cost of replacing the sensor, you can entrust this work to the master in the car service. Remember that you need to regularly change the air filter, observing the vehicle maintenance regulations!

5. Replacing spark plugs and high voltage wires

Spark plugs in a car are the main parts for igniting the fuel mixture. With faulty spark plugs, the spark is incorrectly supplied to ignite the gasoline mixture. In faulty spark plugs, there is often a lack of spark or an incorrect spark interval, which affects engine malfunction. If the lights do not work properly during acceleration, especially from a standstill, you may feel small jolts.

What are the reasons for the failure of spark plugs: Most spark plugs in vehicles prior to 1996 need to be replaced every 25,000-30,000 kilometers... In newer cars, spark plugs last over 150,000 km. However, a variety of factors related to fuel quality and driving style can reduce these spark plug replacement times.

What needs to be done: If your spark plugs have not changed for a long time, or you feel dips associated with ignition in the engine, then you must immediately replace them with new ones without delay. Do not try to save money on untimely replacement of spark plugs, as the cost of spark plugs is not very expensive, as well as the work of replacing them. Replacing old spark plugs will improve engine performance and reduce vehicle fuel consumption. Replacing spark plugs yourself is easy enough. Mostly they are easily accessible under the hood of the car. You need a regular spark plug wrench to remove the spark plugs from the engine. It is also advisable to monitor the condition of high-voltage wires, since over time they can become unusable and allow electricity to pass, which is transmitted to the spark plugs, which will reduce the strength of the spark. Remember that regular replacement of spark plugs, in accordance with your car's maintenance schedule, keeps your exhaust catalyst from damage, and also improves engine performance!

Engine check caught fire - reasons

The main reason for the indicator to light up is an engine error lies in the fixation of serious problems by the control unit in the engine. Movement in this case is possible if the check of the engine lights up and the indicator does not flash, the behavior of the car itself remained unchanged, as well as the engine power and its response to pressing the gas pedal remained unchanged, as well as if other error indicators indicating the presence of any or problems, "are silent." It is also worth paying close attention to the level of coolant and oil; their number should not change dramatically. But even in this case, it is worth getting to the car service as soon as possible.

Movement when the indicator lights up - engine error is prohibited in several cases:

  • The car changed its behavior on the road;
  • The power of the motor has decreased, you feel its vibration;
  • You smell burnt;
  • The "engine service" light works in intermittent mode (blinking);
  • The emergency oil level indicator came on;
  • The lamp responsible for the engine overheating warning came on.

Engine error can cause serious damage. And, sadly, a car dealer may refuse to make free warranty repairs.

Check Engine is on - what to do?

In the event that the emergency oil level indicator lights up while driving, you should immediately turn off the engine. After that, you need to check the oil level, and if it is below the permissible value, you should add oil and try to start the car again. If, adding oil, did not change the situation (the engine check is still on), in this case it is worth contacting a car service. The main thing to remember is that in no case should you try to get to the service center in your car, if you do not want your engine to be seriously damaged when working without lubrication.

The onset of overheating can be signaled by the indicator, which is responsible for warning the driver about a high temperature of the liquid in the expansion tank, and the displacement of the indicator reflecting the temperature of the liquid towards higher values. If the pointer has not reached the red zone, which means that the expansion tank still has a sufficient supply of liquid, and there are no signs of "dangerous overheating", you can lower the temperature mode yourself by following a few simple measures:

  • Reduce vehicle speed;
  • Do not use air conditioner;
  • Turn on the heater to lower the engine temperature. If after turning on the stove, hot air does not start flowing, stop immediately. These are the first signs of "dangerous overheating".

In addition to the above-described methods of detecting "dangerous overheating", there are a number of others: the presence of steam emanating from under the hood of the car, a decrease in the engine power level, an empty expansion tank, a failure of the heating system, when outside (cold) air begins to enter the cabin.

When the ignition key is turned to the oN position, the serviceability of all warning lamps is checked (do not start the engine while doing this). Any lamp that fails to light should be checked by an authorized HYUNdAI dealer.

After starting the engine, check that all warning lamps have gone out. If any of them remain lit, this indicates a situation that requires attention. When the parking brake is released, the parking brake warning lamp should go out.

The low fuel level warning lamp will continue to illuminate if the fuel supply is insufficient.

ECO (ECO indicator, if equipped) (Automatic transmission)

ECO indicator is a system that allows you to drive a vehicle in an economical mode.

The indicator is displayed when fuel economy is used, which improves fuel efficiency.

ECO indicator (green), lights up when fuel is used efficiently in eCo oN mode.
The ECO indicator display can be turned off by pressing the TrIP button. Switching ECO mode on and off is described on the previous page.
Fuel economy depends on driving style and road conditions.
This function does not work in non-fuel-efficient driving conditions such as P (parking), N (neutral) or r reverse.
If the display shows the current fuel consumption, the eCo indicator turns off.

CAUTION

Do not observe the indicator while driving. This distracts from driving and can cause an accident that results in serious personal injury.

Airbag warning lamp (if equipped)

This warning lamp comes on for about 6 seconds each time the ignition key is turned to the oN position.

This lamp also comes on if there is a malfunction in the airbag system. If this lamp does not come on or stays on after 6 seconds after turning the ignition key to the ON position or starting the engine, or if it comes on while the vehicle is in motion, have an authorized HYUNdAI dealer check the status of the airbag system.

Seat belt warning (if equipped)

As a reminder to the driver and passenger, the seat belt warning light will illuminate for 6 seconds each time the ignition key is turned to oN, whether the seat belts are on or not.

For details, refer to “Seat belts” in Chapter 3.

Control lamp of insufficient pressure of engine oil

1. Using caution, move to the edge of the carriageway and stop the vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, check the oil level. If the oil level is below normal, add oil as required.

If this warning lamp continues to illuminate after adding oil to the engine, or if oil is not available, contact your authorized HYUNdAI dealer.

ATTENTION

If the engine is not stopped immediately after the low engine oil pressure warning light comes on, the engine could be seriously damaged.

ATTENTION

If the low engine oil pressure warning light comes on while the engine is running, serious engine damage can occur. This lamp lights up if the pressure in the lubrication system drops below normal. Normally, it lights up when the ignition is turned on and then goes out after starting the engine. If the low oil pressure warning lamp illuminates while the engine is running, this indicates a serious malfunction.

In such a situation, stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so, stop the engine and check the oil level. If the engine oil level is below normal, add oil to normal and start the engine again.

If the lamp remains on while the engine is running, stop it immediately. In any case, if the low engine oil pressure lamp comes on while the engine is running, you must have an authorized HYUNDAI dealer check the condition of the vehicle before starting the engine again.

Parking brake and brake fluid level warning lamp

This lamp comes on when the parking brake is on and the ignition key is in the START or oN position. This lamp should turn off when the parking brake is released with the engine running.

Insufficient brake fluid warning

The glow of this warning lamp indicates an insufficient level of fluid in the brake reservoir.

If this indicator lamp is on:

1. Using caution, exit to the nearest safe place and stop the vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, immediately check the brake fluid level and top up as required.
After that, check all elements of the brake system for leaks.
3. It is not allowed to continue the movement of the car if leaks were found, if the control lamp continues to burn, or if the operation of the brake system is abnormal. The vehicle should be towed by an authorized HYUNdAI dealer to have the braking system checked and necessary repairs carried out.

This vehicle is equipped with a dual diagonal braking system.

This means that even if one of its lines fails, the brakes on two wheels of the car will be in working order. In such a situation, to stop the car, it will take more brake pedal travel and more effort on it.

In addition, the braking distance of a vehicle with only part of the braking system working will be longer than normal. If the brakes fail while the vehicle is moving, downshift for engine braking and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.

To check the operation of the parking brake warning lamp and insufficient brake fluid level, make sure it illuminates when the ignition key is turned to the oN position.

CAUTION

It is dangerous to drive while the warning lamp is on. If the brake warning lamp continues to illuminate, immediately have an authorized HYUNDAI dealer check the brake system and carry out repairs.

Antilock Brake System (ABS) Warning Lamp (If Equipped)

This lamp comes on when the ignition key is turned to the oN position and goes out after about 3 seconds if the system is working properly.

If this lamp stays on after turning on the ignition, lights up while driving, or does not light up after turning on the ignition, this indicates a possible malfunction of the AbS system.

In such a situation, contact an authorized HYUNdAI dealer as soon as possible to check the condition of the vehicle.

The vehicle's braking system will continue to function, but without anti-lock braking support.

Electronic brake force distribution (eBD) warning lamp

If two warning lamps light up at the same time while driving, the vehicle has both AbS and ebd systems faulty.

In such a case, the AbS system and the main braking system may not operate normally. Please contact an authorized HYUNdAI dealer as soon as possible to check the condition of the vehicle.

CAUTION

If the ABS warning lamp and the brake warning lamp come on and remain lit at the same time, this means that the vehicle's braking system will not function normally during heavy braking. If this is the case, avoid driving at high speed and abrupt braking. Ask an authorized HYUNDAI dealer to check the condition of the vehicle as soon as possible.

NOTE

If the ABS or eBD warning light comes on and remains on, it may indicate a malfunction of the speedometer or trip odometer / odometer. In such a situation, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible to check the condition of the vehicle.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP) Indicator (If Equipped)

This indicator comes on when the ignition key is turned to the oN position and should go out within about 3 seconds. When the eSP system is on, it monitors the vehicle's driving conditions. If conditions are normal, the indicator for this system is off. When entering a slippery road surface or when tire traction decreases, the eSP system starts to work.

At the same time, its indicator starts blinking, informing about the operation of this system.

But in the event of a malfunction of the eSP system, the indicator comes on and does not turn off. In such a situation, go to an authorized HYUNdAI dealer to check the vehicle.

ESP Disable Indicator (If Equipped)

This indicator comes on when the ignition key is turned to the oN position and should go out within about 3 seconds. Press the corresponding button to deactivate the eSP system. The indicator will light to indicate that this system is disabled. If this lamp illuminates when the eSP system is on, there may be a problem with the system.

Direction indicators

This indicator tells the driver which gear to select, which saves fuel.

For example:

: Indicates that it is desirable to downshift to 3rd gear (2nd gear is currently on).
: Indicates that it is desirable to downshift to 3rd gear (4th gear is currently on).

NOTE

When the system is not working properly, the up / down arrow indicator and the gear number are not displayed.
When eco-oFF is selected on the trip computer, the manual transmission shift indicator will not be displayed.

Battery charging indicator lamp

This warning light indicates a malfunction of either the alternator or the battery charging system.

If it lights up while the vehicle is moving:

1. Move the vehicle to the nearest safe place.
2. With the engine stopped, check the tension of the alternator drive belt and its breakage.
3. If the belt tension is normal, there is a fault somewhere in the battery charging system. Contact an authorized HYUNdAI dealer to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

Low fuel level warning lamp

This lamp indicates that the vehicle's fuel tank is almost empty. In such a situation, it is necessary to refuel the vehicle as soon as possible. Continuing to drive with the low fuel level warning lamp on, or when the fuel gauge needle is below the “E” mark, may skip flashes in the engine cylinders and damage the catalytic converter.

Control lamp for insufficient fluid level in the washer reservoir (if equipped)

When this warning lamp lights up, it indicates that the washer reservoir is almost empty. Fill the reservoir as soon as possible.

Engine malfunction warning lamp

This warning lamp is a part of the engine management system that monitors the status of various elements of the exhaust gas emission control system. If this lamp comes on while the vehicle is moving, it indicates a possible malfunction somewhere in this system.

In addition, this lamp comes on when the ignition key is turned to the oN position, and then goes out a few seconds after starting the engine. If it comes on while the vehicle is in motion, or does not light up after turning the ignition key to the ON position, contact your nearest authorized HYUNdAI dealer to check the system status.

In general, the vehicle may move, but you should immediately contact an authorized HYUNdAI dealer to check the system status.

ATTENTION

Prolonged driving with the exhaust gas emission control system malfunction indicator lit can damage the system's components, which will affect the vehicle's performance and / or fuel consumption.

ATTENTION

If the emission monitor malfunction indicator illuminates, the catalytic converter may be damaged, possibly resulting in loss of engine power.

Have the engine management system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.

Engine coolant temperature warning lamp (if equipped)

The warning lamp comes on when the engine coolant temperature exceeds 125 ± 2.5 ° C (257 ± 4.5 ° f).

It is unacceptable to continue the trip with an overheated engine. If the vehicle's engine overheats, refer to “If the engine overheats” in section 6.

NOTE

If the engine coolant temperature warning lamp illuminates, it indicates overheating that could cause engine damage.

Tailgate / tailgate opening warning lamp

This warning lamp comes on if the boot lid / tailgate is not closed properly, in any position of the key in the ignition lock.

Control lamp for signaling the open door

This indicator lamp comes on if the door is not closed tightly, at any position of the key in the ignition lock.

Door open indicator (if equipped)

The indicator shows which door is open.

Immobilizer operation indicator (if equipped)

This lamp comes on when the key with the immobilizer system transmitter is inserted into the ignition switch and turned to the oN position to start the engine.

At this point, you can start the engine. After starting, the lamp will go out.

If this lamp blinks when the ignition key is in the oN position before starting the engine, have an authorized HYUNdAI dealer check the system.

With electronic key system

If one of the following situations occurs in a vehicle equipped with an electronic key, the immobilizer warning lamp comes on, starts blinking or goes out.

When the electronic key is in the vehicle, if the ACC or oN modes are activated by the engine start / stop button, the indicator lights up. If there is no electronic key in the car, when the engine start / stop button is pressed, the warning lamp will flash for several minutes, reminding that you will not be able to start the engine.
If the warning lamp goes out 2 seconds after turning the ignition key to the oN position, this may indicate a system malfunction. In this case, ask an authorized HYUNdAI dealer to check the vehicle.
