Today we will look at the second generation of the crossover, which has been on the assembly line for 8 years. We are talking about the Range Rover Evoque 2019-2020, the release of which was simply necessary due to the long production period of the first generation. The car was demonstrated in London on November 22, 2018. The new PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture) platform is used, still applied for. The start of sales is scheduled for the spring of 2019, but all the information is already known about configurations and prices.

R-DYNAMIC


If the basic version on the bumpers has a bumper cover that is not painted in the body color, here below the part of the protection is painted in the body color. Also, the vertical air intakes are complemented by two glossy horizontal strips, which were mentioned above.

FIRST-EDITION

The ceiling is trimmed with black Morzine fabric in black or beige, but light or black Alcantara can be supplied.

Two new displays

The center console houses the most interesting change - two 10-inch Touch Pro Duo displays with a chic design. The first received reduced frames and chrome edging. This display is responsible for the entertainment and navigation systems, it is tilted under the profile of the dashboard and, when turned on, changes the angle so that the driver does not rise and clearly reads information from it. At the transition to the tunnel, the leather sheathing ends and the glossy one begins. Immediately we see the second 10-inch display, under it are touch buttons and two washers with displays recessed inside. The glossy plastic gives the impression that the washers are integrated into the monitor, and the buttons in the center are imitated by the display - very cool and beautiful.


On the Tunnel of the Range Rover Evoque, you'll find the gear selector in the center and a niche with cup holders, the lid of which is a great shelf. The gear lever is located on an insert made of ash, gray or natural, can be replaced with bright or dark aluminum. The same inserts are found on the dashboard and door cards. Door cards illuminate the interior in different colors, which can be adjusted on the display.

On the top display, you can adjust everything separately, that is, the motor can behave in a sporty way, and the suspension, steering and drive in a different way, if you want it. We are not talking about voice control or a rear-view camera, this is no longer surprising.

Ewoka steering wheel and dashboard

In the hands of the pilot falls a 4-spoke steering wheel, trimmed with a choice of leather, fabric, Alcantara, detailed with chrome - whatever. In the base, it will be regulated only mechanically and there will always be touch buttons on it. The buttons are located as usual for the owners of the previous generation, but making them touch-sensitive is bad in terms of convenience.


The instrument panel is fitted as standard with two large analog gauges and a vertical information display in the center. A 12-inch display will be installed in the top, which will show whatever you want: imitation of analog sensors, electronic ones, navigation data, etc. Not without a projection onto the windshield.

Music

The basic audio system is only 6 speakers, but for extra money they install a Meridian with 10 speakers and a subwoofer, or give more Meridian Surround Sound with 14 speakers, a subwoofer and a Trifield system that balances the center and side speakers.

The electric drive of the boot lid is very pleasant, and even more pleasant is the increased volume of 16 liters (591 liters) and of course you can fold the rear seats, having received 1383 liters.   1. The first 2-liter diesel engine is the only one that can be taken with front-wheel drive and 6-speed mechanics. Its power is equal to 150 forces and 380 units of moment. In terms of speed, everything is bad - 10.5 seconds to hundreds and 201 km / h maximum. But the consumption of diesel fuel in the city of only 6.3 liters will please;
  2. The 180 hp diesel model with 430 H * m of torque will reduce the Range Rover Evoque's acceleration by just over a second and increase the top speed by 3 km / h. Passport consumption will increase by a maximum of half a liter;
  3. Top diesel with 240 forces and 500 units of torque. With it, the new crossover will overcome a hundred in 7.7 seconds, and the maximum will reach 225 km / h. Consumption in the city will be 7.3 liters, on the highway - 5.5 liters.

The 9-speed automatic transmission with adaptation to the driving style also acts as a pair. The torque is transmitted to all wheels, except for the base diesel engine. The moment is distributed automatically not along the axles, but over the wheels to improve steering and starting from a standstill.

Suspension and off-road

The new platform for the car implies on the front axle and a multi-link at the rear. Optionally, the manufacturer puts adaptive dampers Adaptive Dynamics7 with variable stiffness - something that can be adjusted in the cabin.

Depending on the version, they deliver from 200 to 300 horsepower and 340-400 Nm of torque. With such engines, the car accelerates from zero to the first hundred in 6.6-8.5 seconds and is maximum capable of gaining up to 216-242 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption will be 7.7-8.1 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle.

Diesel versions of the SUV will also get a two-liter turbocharged inline-four. They are capable of developing 150-180 horses and 380-430 Nm of thrust. Acceleration to a hundred will take 9.3-11.2 seconds, and the high-speed ceiling will be located at around 196-205 km / h, and fuel consumption will be 5.6-5.7 liters in the same driving mode.

Equipment

Range Rover Evoque belongs to the premium segment and is equipped with a host of advanced equipment. What modern crossovers can be called the most "daring" in terms of design? The Mini Countryman and Range Rover Evoque come to mind first. At the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the Land Rover LRX concept was unveiled (top photo). Then few people would have thought that a production car would be so much like such an unusual concept. Already in 2011, the production of Range Rover Evoque began, assembly is carried out in England, the city of Halwood. It is worth noting that this model was created under the patronage of the Indian company Tata, which today owns not only Land Rover, but also Jaguar. The car was created on the Ford platform - EUCD, and the Volvo XC60 is also built on it. The Briton was tested in 20 countries of the world and even skated 8,000 km at the Nurburgring. The crossover is available in five and three-door bodies. The three-door is classified as a cross-coupe. The length of both versions is the same, but the five-door is 30mm higher. The Evoque is the smallest Range Rover in the brand's history, 430mm shorter and 187mm lower than the Range Rover Sport. We can say that the dimensions of the Range Rover Ewok are much smaller than that of, and this is a plus in urban traffic.

The leather used for the interior is of high quality, the Evoque uses 10 square meters of leather. A very interesting function Dual View, which allows the driver and passenger to watch a different picture through the eight-inch monitor in the center console. For example, the driver from his seat will see the GPS, and the passenger will see some kind of videos. The Meridian speaker system has 17 speakers and a subwoofer for a total system power of 1200W. In expensive trim levels, there is an electric boot lid, but in the Pure trim, the lid servo is optional, they ask for $ 500 for it. There is no spare wheel in the Briton, instead there is a compressor and a repair kit, the same solution was used on the Nissan Juke.

Three four-cylinder units are offered as power plants: two diesel and one gasoline. All engines are turbocharged. The EPAS electric power steering wheel is quite sharp: from lock to lock - 2.3 turns.

The novelty is expected to allow Range Rover to double sales in the near term, as the Evoque will cost significantly less than the currently most affordable Range Rover Sport.
