Comparison of ford fiesta and hyundai getz. Test Lada Kalina, Hyundai Getz, Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta 1.6 manual transmission

Outside

From English, French and Spanish, the word "fiesta" is translated the same way: "holiday". True, the current latest Ford Fiesta does not externally evoke especially festive emotions - in our four, the car looks, perhaps, the most severe.

But in fairness, we note: those looking for "fun" can be safely referred to the "three-door" - even in the sports version of the ST, this car has successfully fitted into the look of a "racer".

The five-door hatchback looks more bulky: due to the almost vertical tailgate, the roof seems to be slightly higher than it should be for a car less than four meters long.

In general, the design of the Ford Fiesta has many things in common with the design of the Fusion, but still does not leave the impression that you are in front of a miniature bus.

Inside

The interior of the Fiesta resembles that of the entire Ford passenger car range, adjusted for the status and age of the model. The dashboard without a hint of a modest B-class - everything is symmetrical, strict, functional, and most importantly, not poor ...

I remember that our buyer did not particularly like pre-styling Fiesta: the manufacturer supported a large number of options and the solidity of the cabin (among other things) with a very significant price tag - the car turned out to be more expensive than the Focus, albeit in the initial configuration.

Now the situation has changed, but the Fiesta has remained faithful to the bar stated in terms of style.

The Ford Fiesta will be good for both the driver and passengers - the interior does not shine with width, but the headroom overhead retains a decent one.

It will be good for the luggage: the Fiesta's trunk is the largest of the four. Naturally, it can be increased - by expanding completely or in parts of the back of the rear seat.

In move

Attached to the Ford Fiesta at a traffic light, a "ten" with a hefty spoiler on the trunk lid, shiny discs and other naive attributes of "uncompromising sport" invitingly growled in forward flow.

Chasing in the city? No, thank you, but just a few clutch-gear-gas transitions were enough for the Fiesta to get revenge for all the little things we put together on our test.

A hundred horsepower under the hood for a little more than a ton of curb weight can create a small miracle - the car accelerates so willingly and briskly that sometimes you wonder why your body is not fixed in a hard "bucket", and your ears are not caressed by a specially tuned exhaust sound ...

When the tachometer needle comes close to the 3500 rpm mark, the engine begins to overly persistently remind of its hard work. It is possible to maintain acoustic comfort by working with the gear lever more often, but in the active driving mode, you will have to come to terms with noise.

The Fiesta's suspension proved to be excellent during high-speed maneuvers: the car did not allow itself to swing or roll. The reverse side of the medal is a hard working out of road irregularities at low and medium speeds.

Total

The Ford Fiesta is good for those who value cubic meters of usable interior space in a small car as well as the ability to "catch the eye". And I'm ready to pay for it the money set aside for a car of a higher class.

"Fordists" did their job for the "five" - \u200b\u200bthe car can boast not only a comfortable practical interior, but also an incendiary engine (in version 1.6), and a perfectly tuned chassis.

But any "holiday" turns out to be especially bright when it smells of novelty, and the car is clearly delayed on the conveyor. Well, we look forward to the updates!

Hyundai Getz 1.4 manual transmission

Outside

Hyundai Getz has become a kind of breakthrough of the Korean brand in the Russian automotive market. Nobody thought that with the help of a modest compact car it was possible to make the "weather" in the vastness of our Motherland, but the fact remains: queues were lined up at Getz. And now the restyled model is in enviable demand.

The designers did not experiment with the appearance of the car, created back in 2002, so the restyling carried out three years later did not significantly affect the appearance of Getz - except that the facial features became smoother. But in general, the angular shapes, which have already become the hallmark of the car, have been preserved.

I am glad that with the small dimensions of the car, the designers managed to make the doorways wide and comfortable, without violating the proportions of the body.

Inside

There really really is where fantasy roam! But on one condition: if you want to be original and are ready to pay extra for it.

For example, you can order the interior trim with red or blue accents, or you can leave the traditional black and gray range. The latter is probably more practical in our conditions, but somehow it is cloudy and only emphasizes the rusticity of the interior.

However, simple does not mean inconvenient. The driver's seat is "tailored" perfectly: the seat is comfortable, the instruments are well read, the steering wheel fits well in the hands.

Add to this the five adjustments of the driver's seat plus the height adjustment of the steering wheel - and it turns out that in its price range for the convenience of the cabin, Getz is in the lead.

In move

The restyling of the exterior was complemented by technical changes: two new engines appeared in the lineup - 1.1 l (66 hp) and 1.4 l (97 hp). There is, however, a more powerful version - 1.6 liters (106 hp), but, in our opinion, the 1.4 liter engine is still optimal for this model.

This unit starts to drive confidently from about 2,000 rpm and has a fairly wide range of confident traction: up to 4,000-4,500 rpm you can accelerate without switching. Moreover, on the move, the car behaves quite quietly: the soundproofing of the cabin is at a height.

The steering wheel, equipped, contrary to the latest trends in the small class, not with an electric, but with a hydraulic booster, allows you to precisely select the required "angle of attack", and the manual transmission, despite the rather large lever travel, has a high selectivity.

The impression was somewhat spoiled by the "wadded" brake and clutch pedals, but, perhaps, finding mutual understanding with them is a matter of habit. Moreover, there are no complaints about the quality of braking, especially in the version with ABS.

The main thing is not to recklessly on bumps, since on irregularities the blows are transmitted to the body very noticeably.

Total

Hyundai Getz, despite its advanced model age, has not lost its main advantages - it is still relatively affordable, has decent dynamics (with a 1.4-liter engine) and looks good. Perhaps this is the secret of its long popularity. True, in terms of possible equipment, the car loses somewhat to more eminent competitors, but he is ready to provide the necessary set, such as front airbags, ABS and air conditioning.

Opel Corsa 1.2 l, 80 l. s., RMKPP Easytronic

Outside

In terms of originality, the Corsa may be inferior to the Micra, but you can't call it any less attractive. Compared to the other two test takers, Opel looks particularly striking.

A cute front end with a keel is made in the corporate style; transparent headlights playfully "bent" upward, and the falling "shoulder" line and oblique underlined arches make the silhouette of the hatchback wedge-shaped, impetuous. You may not like the Opel design, but it is impossible not to recognize the Corsa as a stylish car.

In addition, if you imagine a hatch not with a light, but with a dark color, Corsa will change the impression of itself. He will suddenly lose his playfulness, and in the combination of smooth contours with "sharp" elements, even some aggressiveness will be felt. And what will be feminine in him?

Inside

Toy. A more precise definition of the interior of the Corsa cannot be found - a beige "spot" on the center console; orange illumination of devices, buttons and adjusting knobs; the combination of rough and polished plastic creates the atmosphere of the interior of a baby car.

However, the interior can change dramatically along with the equipment - especially with the polished plastic of the Cosmo version ...

A wide range of adjustments in the driver's seat, as well as the ability to set the steering column in height and reach, will help you get comfortable behind the wheel of the Corsa.

The seats, although soft, are well profiled, which is why the back does not get tired in them. But the plastic around, on the contrary, is hard. Even on the dashboard.

In move

Like most robotic boxes, Easytronic is not the most convenient thing. In "automatic" mode, it is almost impossible to move without "pecks" and "jerks". And in "manual" it all depends on the driver: if you hold the gas a little when switching, the gearbox will change gear optimally, without delay. Smoothness takes effort.

So, unlike modern "automatic machines", this box does not adapt to the driver, but requires you to adjust to it!

The suspension is quite energy-intensive and is focused on comfort. In corners, the Corsa heels and clearly lets you know the limits of its capabilities. And the brakes are not bad: powerful, but very sensitive: the slightest "overdose" of efforts, passengers will amicably respond with a nod .

And the motor is just great! Quiet, high-spirited on the "bottom" and quite high-torque for a 1.2 liter. And most importantly: seven liters of gasoline in the city is in the order of things for him! You can, of course, choose a less powerful (1.0 l, 60 hp) or a more powerful (1.4 l, 90 hp) option, but with the first, acceleration to "hundreds" will take almost 20 s, and with the second, a fundamental advantage you will not receive.

Total

Externally striking and very balanced in terms of driving performance, a car that is ideal for girls. But men will not have to be ashamed of it - they just have to choose the appropriate color and the "correct" wheel size ... And the queues for it are not the same as six months ago. The excitement starts to subside ...

Nissan Micra 1.2 L, 80 HP sec., automatic transmission

Externally

Time has no power over the Micra: undeniably the most extravagant of our test hatchbacks - even though the first

Branded "Nissan" two-level front panel: the upper floor is given to the radio tape recorder and the on-board computer, and the lower - to the climate control unit. The automatic transmission selector has a long handle: you do not need to reach for it.

The pleasant ability to slide the rear seat within 20 cm allows you to increase either the legroom of the rear passengers or the volume of the luggage compartment.

From the unpleasant: it is convenient to sit behind the wheel of the insufficient adjustment ranges of the seats, the backs of which, plus to this, are soft and flat. Passengers of average height in the back will be cramped. That's why she and "Micra"!

In move

In corners, the Micra is not the best-handling of the four; besides, the effort on the steering wheel is rather indistinct. But in terms of smoothness, it will give a head start to many - it is focused on comfortable movement around the city and optimal damping of impacts on pits and road defects.

Total

Non-trivial city car; judging by the design, it is definitely aimed at a female audience. Each element of the Micra is designed for one that, with just a passing glance, will no longer be able to take it away and will be persistent in its desires. The Micra may not be the most fun hatchback to drive, but it's a godsend for those who value smoothness and comfort at an affordable price.

All three cars are not the first time on the pages of our magazine. Kalina is the main trump card of the domestic auto industry for the next five to six years. "Fiesta" - one of the best-selling in Europe for as many as five generations. "Getz" is the champion of Russian sales among compact class hatchbacks. Direct comparison cannot be avoided, but it is much more important to figure out what are the chances of Kalina and what to expect in the near future. By cars!

In short is better?

"Kalina" -hatchback is shorter than the sedan by 190 mm, which was taken away from the trunk. The spacious interior was not damaged at all. Of course, the characteristic protrusion of the floor under the rear seat still interferes with getting in and out of the car comfortably, especially for those who wear shoes of size 44 and above ... But of all the cars on the test, only its back seat is able to accommodate three people with sufficient comfort. Alas, there was not enough fuse for the head restraints - in the event of a blow from the back of the neck, the passengers would be in serious danger. The current certification standards do not require the mandatory presence of these elements, but I would very much like to feel the desire of the manufacturer to make a competitive car, and not just keep within the current standards.

"Kalina" looks quite worthy: moderate and even body gaps, tightly closing doors, well-fitted upholstery elements. But having got acquainted with the salon by touch, you understand - the distance to the imported quality is enormous. Standing in the dim autumn sun, "Kalina" emits such amber that you want to open the window as soon as possible. By the way, why are the windows in the front doors not fully lowered? And such tight handles control heating and ventilation? Why do you have to turn counterclockwise to make it warmer? And even a pleasant-looking seat, which is quite acceptable on the editorial "Kalina", here seems to be stuffed with semolina. And where did the two extra caps come from? Maybe they forgot to insert someone on the conveyor?

However, on the move, the hatchback turned out to be quieter than the sedan we are used to - the noise insulation is clearly better, and the exhaust system, albeit not quite serial, growls more moderately. The sound of the engine grows louder on the move, mixed with the rattling of the gearshift mechanism. Everything is known in comparison - even the vociferous "Fiesta" after "Kalina" seems quiet.

The electric amplifier worked without whims, but it did not become intelligible: in a tense turn, the position of the wheels is more likely to guess. However, the results of measurements of the almost unrolled (less than 200 km) "Kalina" confirmed the factory performance. The car accelerates confidently, but in terms of elasticity, especially in fifth gear, it lags far behind rivals. This is not the fault of the motor, but of the too long main pair. Its plus is low fuel consumption in the extra-urban cycle. With an impromptu measurement in the speed range of 60–110 km / h, the average consumption was 6.1 l / 100 km. Noticeably less than that of the "Fiesta" (6.3), but more than that of the comparable in dynamics "Goetz" (5.8).

Saving fuel is useful, but not too exciting - you still want to drive fast. And on different roads. The energy intensity of the Kalina suspension is traditionally high - it can be used to drive very briskly along a bumpy road. But on smooth asphalt with relatively small defects, all of them seep through the "impenetrable" suspension perfectly. In terms of geometrical cross-country ability, "Kalina" "will make" the absolute majority of modern "SUVs", but the lowest of all was ... an elegant gear shifting mechanism. So protection of the engine compartment is a must.

Not everything is going smoothly with the brakes, although by domestic standards they work well: they stop the car from 100 km / h in less than 50 m. True, some analogues are forty enough ...

I want a holiday!

From the endless hustle and bustle you want to relax, but it's even better to combine business with pleasure. For example, in a car, on which you can not only ride on numerous errands, but also have fun. A hundred-horsepower variable-inlet motor and an excellent chassis on good tires are enough for this. Of course, you want better seats, more comfortable suspensions, effective sound insulation, and all this is possible ... in cars a couple of classes higher and three times more expensive.

The Ford Fiesta has proven to be convincing in acceleration, braking and handling in difficult corners. And his steering wheel with hydraulic booster turned out to be more accurate and understandable even at the limit of the car's capabilities than the "electric" steering wheels of competitors. But besides driving pleasure, there are other criteria.

A bright holiday is invariably followed by gray everyday life. In Fiesta, they start in the back seat. Short, almost horizontal cushion, vertical backrest. Sitting, not resting his head and knees, seems to be possible for a person of average build, but only a medium-sized teenager can endure a long trip there. The Fiesta's ground clearance is formally good - 134 mm, but this is without any protection. With it, no more than 110-115 mm will remain - there must be a gap between the pallet and the steel sheet.

The groovy character of the car is not conducive to a calm driving style. The Fiesta needs a good, but winding road, better with a fresh and even surface. On ordinary Russian highways, the car, even at moderate speeds, copies the profile of the road and rigidly fulfills the slightest irregularities. But the wheels almost always remain in close contact with the road, and the driver is fully confident that he will be able to bypass an unexpected obstacle.

It turns out that the best thing is to get a "Fiesta" with a three-door body - this one is really made for two and a weekend. The five-door is just a forced compromise between cars for every day and for pleasure. Isn't that why "Ford Fusion" sells here much better, not to mention "Focus" ...

Mind, not heart

This is not the first time Hyundai-Getz has taken part in our tests. And the requirements for an experienced fighter are increasing every time. Its shortcomings are known almost better than the merits. Low ground clearance - only 116 mm on this car. Yes, the engine compartment is reliably closed with powerful steel "armor", and the fuel tank is protected by both a metal and a plastic screen, but the "cross-country ability" cannot be called acceptable: "Getz" manages to strike its belly even when driving to a car wash.

But the floor in "Goetz", on the contrary, is the highest. Because of this, an above average driver's seating position is far from ideal, despite adjusting the height and tilt of the seat cushion. The back, with quite confident lateral support, is too flat and weakly supports the lower back. Behind "Getz" is only slightly inferior to "Kalina" in size, but all three seats with headrests, and parts of the back can be installed with different inclination.

The new 16-valve 1.4-liter engine under the Goetz's short bonnet is noticeably superior to the previous 1.3-liter with three valves per cylinder and is characterized by low noise levels even at high revs. It is there that his character manifests itself on the best side. However, in terms of elasticity, he successfully outstripped Kalina. But this engine showed itself most vividly in fuel economy: outside the city, if the air conditioner is not turned on, the Getz fits into 6 l / 100 km without any problems.

Whether in a parking lot with the engine running or on the road in any speed range, the Getz remains the quietest of the trio. It copes well with small bumps on the road and rough asphalt. But waves and large defects in the coating knock him out of a rut for a long time. The lack of energy intensity of the suspensions greatly affects the control accuracy, and in tight corners leads to a sharp and deep skid. The electric power steering wheel undoubtedly helps to save fuel, and after "Kalina" is perceived as the standard of tuning. However, having moved to the "Fiesta", you understand that the "Korean" is far from the ideal ...

Emotions and arguments

They don't get worse - we get older. Quite recently, a domestic car in which everything works, nothing flows and in which during the test (and this is a rather serious load) nothing broke and did not even work worse, was already an event. And today we complain about the unpleasant smell of plastic and tight handles ... Alas - "Kalina" looks extremely pale against the background of classmates. Yes, in the basic configuration it is much cheaper, but how much will a car with at least ABS, airbags, rear head restraints, and air conditioning cost?

Time does not stand still. "Fiesta" and "Getz" in a year or two will be replaced by new models. "Kalina" - no. Will we be able to see a stabilization system or adaptive headlights on it in the coming years, even in the most expensive, but factory-set? Or will the domestic car remain a designer for lovers of all kinds of tuning? But from "Kalina" you get a good "SUV" and an incendiary hatchback. Only they were needed yesterday ...

So far, the VAZ-11193 hatchback is somewhat similar to a suit made by a tailor of a provincial town. In it, you are the first guy in the village, but in the capital, the policeman at the station will certainly ask for your registration. A province is not a curse, it is a homeland ...

Doping test

We write prices for cars in dollars - those that the manufacturer declares. So it is clearer, and payments for the supply of imported cars are made in dollars or euros. But the final buyer pays in rubles - this is the way it should be by law.

The conversion rate in a car dealership may differ markedly from that set by the Central Bank. For example, Hyundai's official dealers count dollars at 27.9 rubles, automatically increasing the price of cars by 4.5%. So really the most affordable "Getz" on the day of the test cost $ 11,065, and the presented car - $ 15,140. Ford dealers work at the official rate. Well, the price of "Kalina" was originally in rubles: 258 thousand. Count carefully.

The Korean bestseller in the compact hatchback class has convincingly proven that comfort and convenience are timeless values. But if we talk about a gambling driver - his choice will be "Fiesta". Who would I suggest Kalina to? "

The most popular compact models in the aftermarket

When choosing such a car in the secondary market, the cornerstone, as a rule, is a purely utilitarian question: how much will it cost to maintain and operate? And not only because such used cars are most often the first in someone's life, but money for your first car, as you know, is the hardest thing to earn. But also because it is simply a sin to bear high costs, having a car in the garage that is modest in all respects, and even not new. Of course, when choosing, the technical characteristics of the model, the level of comfort, and driving performance are important ... But it is in the compact class and it is in the “second-hand” market that the buyer most meticulously analyzes: to what extent all the parameters of the car correspond to its price.

Meanwhile, this class is represented on the market by a huge number of models. But any attempt to consider them all in one newspaper review is doomed to failure - such a volume of information is simply impossible to digest. Therefore, we took only four models for analysis. And not only because they occupy high lines in the sales ranking. They, in fact, reflect many of the problems that are inherent in the compact class models in the aftermarket.

So, our review presents: "Peugeot 206", "Opel Corsa", "Ford Fiesta" and "Hyundai Getz". All of them have a fairly wide range of modifications, but we will focus on the most massive versions - five- and three-door hatchbacks. And, as usual, consider the cars

at the age of five.

Production - since 1998

restyling - 2001 and 2008

I WOULD recommend this model to those for whom the appearance of the car is of great importance. A bright car, immediately striking. It is no coincidence that there are a lot of women among the fans of “206th”. An important detail, by the way, when choosing a used copy - in whose hands was it before you? Women at the wheel, of course, are more accurate drivers than men, they will not just press all the way into the gas, but they also have a stable sin behind them - somehow it turns out that they quite often apply either with a bumper, or with a wing, or with a door. in completely incomprehensible places, and therefore their cars are often, shall we say, kicked ... But, you must admit, it is better to see scratches on the body (a reason to bargain once again) than the consequences of a serious accident hidden by new, painted body panels ...

One curious detail: the "206" almost never twisted the odometer reading. The fact is that the data on the mileage is also stored in the electronic unit. Therefore, it is necessary not only to find a craftsman who will deal with this block, but also to fork out decently. According to our information, such an operation to lower the real mileage on the Peugeot 206 costs about 6,000 rubles. It is unlikely that any of the previous owners will go to such risky expenses ...

Before buying a car, you should find out if there are specialized centers in your city. Because after five years of operation, "Peugeot 206" needs a comprehensive repair. The fact is that during this time, rubber products, oil seals and silent blocks wear out. If you do not change them in time, you will subsequently have to spend on noticeably large sums. For example, the CV joint boot costs a penny, but if the CV joint itself flies, then you will have to spend about 5,000 rubles to replace it. And a similar picture is for many other nodes.

As practice shows, in order to maintain the "Peugeot 206" in good condition during the year, it is necessary to budget about 15,000-20,000 rubles. Of course, this does not include fuel and insurance costs. By the way, you don't have to spend money on comprehensive insurance - in order for the hijacker to become interested in the 206, its owner will have to pay extra to the thieves.

The Peugeot 206 has a fully independent suspension, a rarity in the compact class. In front of the McPherson rack, in the back there are two transverse torsion bars. This chassis provides the model with decent handling. On cars sold by Russian dealers, the chassis has been reinforced compared to those imported from Europe. They have higher ground clearance, re-tuned springs and shock absorbers.

The most popular cars in the secondary market are cars with a 1.4 liter (75 hp) gasoline engine. This engine is optimal for a compact car - it is powerful and economical. The version with a 1.6-liter (109 hp) "four" accounts for only one tenth of all used "206s". If you are looking for a copy with “automatic”, then remember that automatic transmission is the weak point of this car. During a test drive, pay special attention to the winter mode warning light - it should not blink for no reason. Be sure to engage reverse gear: engagement should occur without jerks and impacts.

Already in the basic version (XR) "206" is equipped with a driver's airbag (European versions - two), central locking and tinted windows. The XS variant was complemented by front power windows. The XT version also included a velor interior, an audio system and foglights.

Take note

In case of careless driving through deep pits or bumps from a shock, the emergency button of the gasoline pump may be triggered, turning off the fuel supply. But do not rush to call a tow truck. It is very easy to “reanimate” the car. You just need to open the hood and press the very emergency red button, which is located behind the battery, near the brake fluid reservoir.

ONE of the editorial staff once described this car in two words: good quality and reliability! And when I asked him to reveal in more detail the meaning of such an assessment, he replied:

There are no frills in it. It only has what you need! And everything is at a good level of performance! Reliable, and for all occasions ..

I also like this car. Its calm and at the same time quite modern appearance. With its driving ability and driving performance. Such a loyal, reliable horse who is always ready to serve you ..

"Ford Fiesta" unquestioningly obeys all the wishes of the driver. Moreover, the suspension design here is quite simple and unpretentious - in front of the McPherson strut, in the back there is a semi-independent beam. However, thanks to the optimal settings, the small “Ford” is predictable and reliable to drive.

When choosing a car, pay careful attention to the condition of the body. A small historical remark is required here. In the period 2005-2006, the manufacturing company switched to an ecological water-based hull painting technology. As is often the case, when the know-how was introduced, “growing pains” appeared. Therefore, if the body of the specimen you like looks unpresentable and needs painting, remember that it will be quite expensive to bring it into proper condition.

Almost the entire assortment of non-original body parts is offered for "Ford Fiesta". They cost two to three times cheaper than the original products. But here I advise you not to rush and be extremely careful. Since the vast majority of body parts produced, for example, in China or Taiwan, it is elementary, according to the terminology of the masters, “do not sit in place”. To fit, for example, a wing, you have to work with it for several hours. In this case, as they say, the game is not worth the candle ...

Well, while we're on the subject of money, I must point out that maintaining a “Ford Fiesta” shouldn't cost its owner very much. Around 10-14 thousand rubles a year. This model is also of no interest to hijackers.

Now about the motors. According to experts, a 1.4-liter engine is considered optimal. It is moderately high-torque and at the same time economical. For those who like it faster, I recommend a model with a 1.6 liter engine. It provides an enviable dynamics to a light typewriter. Both engines of the “Duratec” series readily digest 92nd gasoline and are generally unpretentious. We do not recommend stopping the choice on the 1.3-liter version. This engine is noisy and weak, and the fuel consumption is the same as that of its more powerful siblings.

A few words about the automatic transmission. The Ford Fiesta has a clear division here. A 1.6-liter engine is paired with a hydromechanical automatic transmission, and models with an 80-horsepower 1.4-liter engine

were produced in tandem with a robotic box "Durashift". If you follow our publications, then you know that "robots", especially of that period, are not the best transmission option. And in this case, the robotic box not only suffers from thoughtfulness, but also overheats in traffic jams.

You won't have to say much about the model's equipment. In the basic version, it has ABS, power steering and front airbags. However, there are quite a few such “poor” cars in our market. Many more vehicles are offered with electric windows and air conditioning.

Take note

It may not seem paradoxical, but the most vulnerable place of the body is the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear license plate illumination. Corrosion appears here at an enviable frequency every two to three years. Repair will cost 2,300 rubles for a specialized service. From an authorized dealer - one and a half times more expensive.

SPECIALIST OPINION

Vladimir Ostapenko, head of the locksmith shop at YUS Impex:

Don't be surprised if your Ford Fiesta suddenly flashes an airbag malfunction signal. This is a congenital design defect and can even happen on relatively new cars. The reason is trivial - poor wiring contact. On this occasion, there was a revocable action, when because of this it was necessary to change the clock spring of the steering hub.

Often, after winter operation, the electronic regulator of the heater valve turns sour. We recommend, for prevention purposes, to develop this mechanism, periodically switching the modes of its operation.

If you often fill the tank with gasoline at dubious gas stations, the valves may hang in their guides. And this is already fraught with expensive repairs (15,000-20,000 rubles) or the need to replace the block head (from 35,000 rubles). On the official service you will be charged 35-50% more.

Engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters are the most demanded in the secondary Russian market. They have a belt drive of the gas distribution mechanism, but their valves are not equipped with hydraulic compensators and are regulated by washers (from 2,000 rubles) after 100,000 km of run. Moreover, according to the regulations, the timing belt is replaced after 160,000 km, although in Russian operating conditions it is desirable to reduce this period by one and a half times. The 1.3 liter motor is equipped with a durable chain, the service life of which is one and a half to two times longer.

In mechanical boxes, after three to four years of service, the input shaft oil seal leaks. The part itself costs a penny, but the replacement will cost 4,500 rubles, since for this you need to hang the gearbox and engine. Robotic box "Durashift" in loaded modes (long-term movement uphill, driving through traffic jams) is prone to overheating, which will be reported by trembling on the brake pedal. True, the gearbox is fully operational after cooling the clutch mechanism.

When designing this car, Koreans tried to please the tastes of fastidious Europeans. And I must say that they did it well. Hyundai Getz is distinguished by its attractive appearance, comfortable interior and reliable handling.

The interior is designed in a laconic business style. The materials, although not the most expensive, seem to be quite solid in appearance. "Getz" is one of the tallest cars in the class (149 cm), which helped to rationally manage the interior space, and at the same time provide a convenient entrance and exit and a high seating position.

I would also call a plus of the salon ample opportunities to place here various trifles that are always needed on the way. There is an umbrella shelf under the steering column. Above the driver's door - eyeglass case; on the sidewalls of the backrests there are pockets for road satin, and on the back of the backrest of the right front seat there is a folding coat hook.

During a test car test, you may be alerted to a soft tapping coming from the depths of the rear suspension. These sounds, which are emitted by the upper mounts of the shock absorbers, do not pose any danger or threat. According to the manufacturer's assurances, they are not considered a malfunction, but are somewhat unusual in perception of the specificity of the chassis.

And on the move, by the way, "Hyundai Getz" behaves very decently. The suspension (McPherson struts in the front, a semi-independent beam at the rear) is tuned specifically for the European market. It very carefully levels bumps and at the same time provides decent handling. Although the smoothness of the ride may seem insufficient to many.

When examining a used "Getz", pay attention to the condition of its body, which cannot boast of durable corrosion protection. After two or three Russian winters, the leashes of the wipers surrender to rust. It will take a little more time for the brown spots to appear on the edge of the tailgate and bonnet, as well as the sills and the lower part of the doors. Restoration and painting of these body elements will cost at least 25,000 rubles.

Among the three gasoline engines with a volume of 1.1 liters (67 hp), 1.4 liters (97 hp) and 1.6 liters (106 hp), with which Getz were sold in Russia, the most demanded is 1.4 -liter. He turned out to be the most fastidious about the quality of fuel: it can stall after a cold start, or suddenly its revolutions begin to float. Usually it helps to "flashing" the control unit for about 3,000 rubles. For all power units, except for the base one, in addition to the standard five-speed manual box, a four-speed “automatic” was offered.

The GL standard was equipped with power steering, immobilizer, power windows, driver's airbag and central locking. But there are few such empty cars on the market. More often, there are GLS variants, additionally equipped with air conditioning, fog lights, a passenger airbag, heated seats and electric mirrors.

Well, in terms of maintenance costs, this model is not much different from other competitors. If nothing unexpected happens, then the amount in the range of 9.000-12.000 for a year is quite enough.

Take note

Once in the passenger compartment, check the operation of the seat heating buttons, which are located between the seats, on the center tunnel. They are afraid of moisture. A little liquid that gets on these keys will immediately disable them. The repair will cost almost 2,000 rubles. Also, window regulator buttons are short-lived.

SPECIALIST OPINION

Egor Pereverzev, foreman of the locksmith shop of the Kraft company:

The Hyundai Getz has sufficiently reliable engines. Only after a couple of years will the hydraulic lifters start tapping, and even then this happens, as a rule, immediately after a cold start, and after warming up, the knocking subsides and does not progress over time. 50,000-70,000 km are released to the crankshaft oil seals, the replacement of which will cost about 3,000 rubles for a specialized service.

If the corrugation of the intake pipe burns out on your car (you can immediately determine this by the bass rumble emanating from under the bottom of the car), then do not delay with a visit to the service. Replacing the corrugation will cost about 4,000 rubles. If this is not done, then an incorrectly prepared air-fuel mixture will kill the catalytic converter. And this is already a much significant expense ...

By 80,000 km, the engine mounts “get tired” (1,500-2,000 rubles). You can find out about this by the increased vibration or knocking under the hood when the engine revs. In this case, contact the service immediately. Otherwise, the housing of one of the supports will collapse, as a result of which the engine will sag and may even fall.

The automatic transmission of Hyundai Getz works reliably up to about 100,000 kilometers. Then she may have problems, and she is subject to a bulkhead. Sometimes there are malfunctions in the control electronics - the speed sensors of the input and output shafts are brought in, because of which the “machine” starts to twitch and often goes into emergency mode. True, repairs cost no more than 5,000 rubles.

During normal operation, the suspension will last at least 100,000 km. Then, you may have to replace the front shock absorbers (2,600 rubles each) along with the thrust bearings (300 rubles each). After the same run, wheel bearings (1,500 rubles), steering tips (750 rubles), silent blocks (1,200 rubles per side) and ball joints (725 rubles), which change separately from the levers, will require updating.

PRACTICALITY, affordability and durability - this is perhaps how this model can be characterized. And don't get hung up on its humble design. Trust me: in a very short time, you will even like the look of the car. Because this car is harmonious. He is calm both externally and internally. He has one task: to faithfully serve you for the entire term allotted to him.

Nothing will annoy you in this car. And the ergonomics are as if you have been driving the Korsa all your life - everything is at hand, everything is convenient and well thought out. There are even such little things as, for example, additional bottom seals in the doors, thanks to which the thresholds remain clean in any weather. And the central lock opens the driver's door first, and only the second time - the rest. Convenient and safe. Or large outside rear-view mirrors, which provide good visibility .. However, due to their size, aerodynamics suffers, as a result of which, in rainy weather, the windows of the front doors become dirty.

However, I overdid it a little in my desire to admire this model. It's time to add a fly in the ointment to this "barrel of honey". It is much more useful for a prospective buyer to know about possible (even extremely rare and even extremely small) problems than to read someone's enthusiastic reviews. For example, the transmissions of a manual gearbox are not clearly engaged here. Many novice drivers often even turn on the third instead of the first speed, and instead of the second - the fourth, and vice versa. And the long-travel clutch pedal makes it difficult to start off ...

"Opel Corsa" is notable for its good maintainability, simple design and inexpensive spare parts. For example, a hood can be purchased for 3.900 rubles, and a headlamp unit - for 3.400 rubles. True, these will be non-original parts. And you can repair a car in almost any specialized service.

Suspension scheme "Opel" does not differ from most competitors - front McPherson struts, and at the back - a semi-independent H-shaped beam. In terms of handling, there are no surprises either.

Despite the fact that the "Opel Corsa" was equipped with a very diverse engine (four gasoline and two turbodiesels), this model was supplied to the Russian market only with gasoline four-cylinder engines with a volume of 1.2 liters (80 hp) and 1.4 liters (90 hp). Transmissions - a mechanical five-speed, four-speed "automatic" and a robotic gearbox "Easytronic", which is unlikely to satisfy those who prefer an active driving style. "Automatic" in this regard works more jovially, but keep in mind that it was aggregated only with a 1.4-liter engine.

The basic version of the “Opel Corsa” was practically empty: ABS, front airbags, electric power steering and audio preparation. Apparently, this is why there are few such copies on the secondary market. Basically, versions are offered with front power windows, audio system and air conditioning. There are many models with climate control, xenon headlights ...

The former owners loved this car.

Take note

If your chosen car has decent mileage, pay close attention to how the steering rack works. To do this, turn the steering wheel sharply from side to side. If you find a large backlash, accompanied by characteristic knocks, feel free to bargain for 25,000 rubles - the minimum cost of replacing the rail.

SPECIALIST OPINION

Andrey Astakhov, warranty engineer at Auto-Start:

The robotic transmission “Easytronic” is the main headache for owners of a used “Opel Corsa”. This transmission at each maintenance requires a readjustment - we call this retraining of the clutch engagement point. Work together with the obligatory replacement of the brake fluid, which usually completely loses its properties for 15,000 km, costs only 2,500 rubles. Also make it a rule to switch to N (neutral) when standing in a traffic jam for a long time or at a traffic light with the “Auto” mode enabled. Otherwise, the box control unit will fail, and it costs up to 30,000 rubles.

On 5-6 year olds, the head optics become dull and dull. The fact is that the caps covering the headlights are made of plastic, which loses its transparency over time. The part is not supplied separately in spare parts, and replacement of the headlight entirely is expensive. Instead, specialized workshops offer polishing the cap for 800-900 rubles, which is quite enough for a couple of seasons.

If your car has a 1.4 liter engine, then keep in mind that every 60,000 kilometers you need to change the timing belt. God forbid there will be a belt break. Then you are guaranteed a block head repair. And these are already decent expenses - somewhere from 30,000 rubles ...

After 120,000 kilometers, the belt must be changed along with the tensioning rollers. It is advisable to update the water pump at the same time. Work together with spare parts will cost about 6,000 rubles.

With the suspension (front - McPherson, rear - semi-independent beam), there are no special problems, and it is inexpensive to maintain. The weak point is the steering rack, which begins to knock after a couple of years of driving on our roads. ABS sensors also fail. True, they are changed along with the hubs - and this is 12,000 rubles.

SHORT IS BETTER?

"Kalina" -hatchback is shorter than the sedan by 190 mm, which was taken away from the trunk. The spacious interior was not damaged at all. Of course, the characteristic protrusion of the floor under the rear seat still interferes with getting in and out of the car comfortably, especially for those who wear shoes of size 44 and above ... But of all the cars on the test, only its back seat is able to accommodate three people with sufficient comfort. Alas, there was not enough fuse for the head restraints - in the event of a blow from behind the neck, the passengers would be in serious danger. The current certification standards do not require the presence of these elements, but I would very much like to feel the desire of the manufacturer to make a competitive car, and not just keep within the current standards.

Everything is known in comparison - even the vociferous " Fiesta "After" Kalina "seems to be quiet.

The electric amplifier worked without whims, but did not become intelligible: in a tense turn, the position of the wheels is more likely to guess.

WANT HOLIDAY!

The Korean bestseller in the compact hatchback class has convincingly proven that comfort and convenience are timeless values. But if we talk about a gambling driver, his choice will be “ Fiesta ". Who would I suggest Kalina to? "

LADA KALINA

The sedan has been on sale in Russia since the summer of 2005, the hatchback since the summer of 2006.

LADA KALINA IS POSSIBLY THE BEST CAR CREATED IN MODERN RUSSIA. SORRY, THIS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR AN EQUAL FIGHT WITH COMPETITORS.

Overall rating 7.4

Spacious interior, high-torque and economical engine, excellent geometric cross-country ability, good visibility, energy-intensive suspension, comfort on bad roads.

Inconvenient driver's seat, insufficiently informative controls, lack of ABS, mediocre grip of tires, noise and vibration of the power unit.

Ford Fiesta - DIFFERENT FROM OLD BROTHER "FOCUS", PRESENTS TRUE PLEASURE OF DRIVING. EVEN AT THE PRICE OF SOME NON-PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS.

Overall rating 7.8

Powerful engine, good dynamics, efficient brakes, precise steering, long service intervals, large trunk.
