The oil filter element is located at the rear of the cylinder block just above the oil pan. You can get to it while under the car. But to replace it, you must first disconnect the chip with the wiring located near the filter, so as not to damage it when unscrewing.

It is not difficult to replace the air filter element of the power plant, since its body is located in a conspicuous place (near the bulkhead of the engine compartment). To replace it, you just need to press the two latches on the sides of the case and pull it towards you and the filter will come out together with the pencil case.

The cabin filter is located at the bottom of the rear of the center console. You can get to it from the passenger side. The filter housing cover is held by two clips. To remove the cover, you just need to press on these latches.

In the process of removing the filter element, it will have to be crumpled and pulled down a little, since it is impossible to pull it out normally due to the storage box. The new element is installed in the same way.

In addition to replacing these materials, the level of other technical fluids should be checked. There will be no problems with brake and coolant, since their tanks are in a prominent place. The brake reservoir is located on the right side of the air filter and the coolant on the left.

The power steering reservoir will deliver the greatest problems, since it is located on the bottom right, near the headlight. Getting there to assess the fluid level is not easy.

To check, you can use a flashlight, which you need to shine on the tank.

Changing the candles

Replacing candles - the operation is not difficult, but you will need a set of heads (including a candle for 16) with extensions and wrenches. The plugs are located between the plastic pipes of the intake manifold and are easy to reach.

Technical fluids

Replacement of brake fluid is carried out at 45 thousand km or every 3 years if the car does not run over such a mileage. The same applies to the coolant, although the automaker indicates that the antifreeze changes by 90 thousand km.

Replacing the brake fluid is not difficult, but you need to do it with an assistant. The essence of the work is as follows:




  • We repeat the pumping procedure until a new clean liquid comes out of the fitting, after which we move on to another wheel.

In the process of pumping, be sure to control the liquid level in the tank and replenish it.

To drain the antifreeze when replacing, a drain plug is provided on the cylinder block. But you can only get to it while under the car. It is located behind the starter, so it will have to be removed from the car. And only after that you can get to the plug to drain the coolant.

On the radiator, no plugs are provided, and in order to drain the antifreeze from it, we unscrew the clamp of the lower branch pipe and pull off the pipe. Before filling with new coolant, put the pipe and the plug in place.

Change drive belts

We turn to the most difficult type of work - replacing the drive belts with Lada X-Rey, as well as their tension rollers.

In general, the accessory belt is not difficult to change. To get to it, remove the right front wheel. Behind it, in the arch, there is a technological hole closed with a plastic cover.

To remove the cover, unscrew the top plastic nut. Next, we take out the edge of the cover, for which you need to pull it down, and also remove the fastening cap.

Through the technological hole, you can get to the belt tension roller add. equipment. To replace the drive element, we loosen the nut on the 13 rollers, because of which it will turn and release the tension. It remains only to remove the belt from the pulleys, and also completely remove the roller.

After installing the new drive element, we put the roller in place and stretch it. To do this, turn the tension roller with a torx 55 until it stops and fix it in this position with a nut.

The difficulty of replacing the timing belt depends on the engine model. On 1.6-liter power units installed on the Lada X-Rey, the technology for replacing this belt is somewhat simpler.

The replacement method on such a motor is practically no different from any other 16-valve unit.

The general technology is as follows:

  • We remove the additional drive. equipment;
  • We dismantle the accessory drive pulley, for which we will have to fix the crankshaft;
  • We put an emphasis on the engine and remove the upper right support;
  • We exhaust the motor a little;
  • Remove the protective belt covers;
  • We expose marks on the timing and fix the gears in this position with a special device;
  • we loosen the tension roller;
  • remove the belt and put a new one;
  • we replace the roller and tighten the belt;
  • collecting everything back, making sure that there is no displacement of the marks;

Nuances of a 1.8-liter unit

On a 1.8-liter engine, the timing belt replacement operation is somewhat more complicated. Below are just some of the nuances of the work:

  • there are no timing marks on the timing shaft pulleys. For fixing the distributor. shafts use special grooves made in the ends on the left (from the side of the checkpoint);
  • There are plugs in the head to access the shaft grooves. But the device has not yet been installed. To do this, you will have to dismantle the intake manifold, valve cover and master disk;
  • To carry out the work, you will need a special device for fixing the switchgear. shafts. The fact is that with the correct setting the distribution. shafts, grooves in their ends are located vertically and fix them with a regular plate, as is done on many engines.
  • Fixing the crankshaft is not provided for by the design, so you have to come up with something for this. For example, you can make a retainer that replaces the knee position sensor. shaft.

And this is only part of the features of the work on replacing the timing belt on the 1.8-liter X-Ray engine. In reality, everything is much more complicated, since, for example, to remove the collector, you will have to remove a number of auxiliary devices and their mounting brackets. In general, this type of service is quite laborious.

Change the pads

The regulations of all Lada X-Ray MOTs indicate that the brake pads are also subject to replacement, but only if necessary.

It is not difficult to change them on this car. To replace consumables on the front disc brakes, you just need to remove the spring, unscrew the two caliper mounting bolts and remove it. Before planting the caliper on the new pads, you need to "sink" the piston inward so that it does not interfere with the installation.

The algorithm of actions is demonstrated on the example of one ignition coil.

First of all, the block is disconnected from the ignition coil. To do this, push the catch and pull.

Then, using the E-8 head, it is required to unscrew the coil fastening screw, and then remove the coil itself from the well.



This will open access to the Lada Vesta engine spark plug, which must be unscrewed using an extension cord and a 16 (high) head, and removed.



It happens that the candle does not hold in the head and remains in the well. In this case, the removed coil is used.

During the installation process, you need to tighten the candle by hand. This is done to prevent damage to the threads in the cylinder head itself.

When the candle is not twisted along the thread, this is immediately clear, since the resistance rises sharply. If this happens, you need to immediately unscrew the candle, carefully clean the thread and screw it back in.





The tightening is carried out with a torque of 25-30 Nm.

IMPORTANT! Do not overtighten the spark plug in the Lada Vesta engine, as this can provoke thread defects in the cylinder head.
