Today we will look at the second generation of the crossover, which has been on the assembly line for 8 years. We are talking about the Range Rover Evoque 2019-2020, the release of which was simply necessary due to the long production period of the first generation. With so many fans and near-best selling points in the lineup, it’s foolish not to make some more money by releasing a new crossover.
The car was demonstrated in London on November 22, 2018. The new platform PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture) is used, still applied for. The start of sales is scheduled for the spring of 2019, but all the information is already known about configurations and prices.
Appearance updates
The car has not changed much in terms of design, it just became closer to the new crossovers of the British company. The model is especially close to, this is noticeable in the new headlights, taillights and retractable door handles.
There are also all sorts of little things in the form of door sills, body shape adjustments and bumpers. They did not do something global, despite the fact that this is a new generation of Range Rover Evoka, and not a restyling.

The new bumper has got vertical air intakes, which in some versions are complemented by two horizontal inserts. Also, the front bumper, like the rear, is complemented by a plastic reinforcement for protection.
At the back, narrow lanterns with a black inset in the center to create an overall black stripe. Decorations at the back to a minimum, because this is modern fashion - minimalism with detail that has made it to cars.

R-DYNAMIC
If the basic version on the bumpers has a bumper cover that is not painted in the body color, here below the part of the protection is painted in the body color. Also, the vertical air intakes are complemented by two glossy horizontal strips, which were mentioned above.
The Range Rover Ewok S and SE variants are also available, which differ in optics, discs, here originally 18-inch, electronic systems.
FIRST-EDITION
A car that will be on sale within a year after the start of sales. The car will immediately be equipped with a black panoramic roof, black gradient inserts and the words "FIRST-Edition".

In fact, almost every difference can be purchased additionally as an option. The Black Exterior Pack is available in which all chrome elements (grille, name, etc.) and the Range Rover Evoque mirrors are painted black.

The ceiling is trimmed with black Morzine fabric in black or beige, but light or black Alcantara can be supplied.
Two new displays
The center console houses the most interesting change - two 10-inch Touch Pro Duo displays with a chic design. The first received reduced frames and chrome edging. This display is responsible for the entertainment and navigation systems, it is tilted under the profile of the dashboard and, when turned on, changes the angle so that the driver does not rise and clearly reads information from it. At the transition to the tunnel, the leather sheathing ends and the glossy one begins. Immediately we see the second 10-inch display, under it touch buttons and two washers with displays recessed inside. The glossy plastic gives the impression that the washers are integrated into the monitor, and the buttons in the center are imitated by the display - very cool and beautiful.
On the Tunnel of the Range Rover Evoque you will find the gear selector in the center and a niche with cup holders, the lid of which is an excellent shelf. The gear lever is located on an insert made of ash, gray or natural, can be replaced with bright or dark aluminum. The same inserts are found on the dashboard and door cards. Door cards illuminate the interior in different colors, which can be adjusted on the display.

Ewok's steering wheel and dashboard
In the hands of the pilot falls a 4-spoke steering wheel, trimmed with a choice of leather, fabric, Alcantara, detailed with chrome - whatever. In the base, it will be regulated only mechanically and there will always be touch buttons on it. The buttons are located as usual for the owners of the previous generation, but making them touch-sensitive is bad in terms of convenience.
The instrument panel is fitted as standard with two large analog gauges and a vertical information display in the center. A 12-inch display will be installed in the top, which will show whatever you want: imitation of analog sensors, electronic ones, navigation data, etc. Not without a projection onto the windshield.
Music
The basic audio system is only 6 speakers, but for extra money they install a Meridian with 10 speakers and a subwoofer, or give more Meridian Surround Sound with 14 speakers, a subwoofer and a Trifield system that balances the center and side speakers.

The electric drive of the boot lid is very pleasant, and even more pleasant is the increased volume by 16 liters (591 liters) and of course the rear seats can be folded, having received 1383 liters. - ICE Si4 MHEV for 300 forces and 400 H * m of torque. Acceleration to 100 km / h will take 6.6 seconds, the top speed will reach 242 km / h. Urban consumption will already jump out for 10 liters, highway consumption for 7 liters. It is a hybrid motor paired with a 48-volt battery.
Diesel TD4:
- The first 2-liter diesel engine is the only one that can be taken with front-wheel drive and 6-speed mechanics. Its power is equal to 150 forces and 380 units of moment. In terms of speed, everything is bad - 10.5 seconds to hundreds and 201 km / h maximum. But the consumption of diesel fuel in only 6.3 liters in the city will delight;
- The 180 hp diesel model with 430 H * m of torque will reduce the Range Rover Evoque's acceleration by just over a second and increase the top speed by 3 km / h. Passport consumption will increase by a maximum of half a liter;
- Top diesel with 240 forces and 500 units of torque. With it, the new crossover will overcome a hundred in 7.7 seconds, and the maximum will reach 225 km / h. Consumption in the city will be 7.3 liters, on the highway - 5.5 liters.
The 9-speed automatic transmission with adaptation to the driving style also acts as a pair. The torque is transmitted to all wheels, except for the base diesel engine. The moment is distributed automatically not along the axles, but along the wheels to improve steering and starting from a standstill.
Suspension and off-road
The new platform for the car implies on the front axle and a multi-link at the rear. Optionally, the manufacturer puts adaptive dampers Adaptive Dynamics7 with variable stiffness - something that can be adjusted in the cabin.

Another important and key innovation is the InControl Touch on-board multimedia system with an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 800x480.
It offers the driver even more information options - from standard GPS to specific data such as axle-load 4WD and wading depth (special Wade Sensing function). It would seem - a definite plus, but in reality everything is not so smooth. The system is too overloaded with information content and a lot of functions that are completely unnecessary in normal city mode, because, despite the excellent off-road characteristics, hardly anyone will actively use a car worth $ 50,000 to “kill” it off-road.
There are no other outstanding changes to the cabin. Despite the impressive external dimensions, the Range Rover Evoque remains a compact crossover with a small interior size inside.
There are no complaints about the finishing materials - well-made leather and high-quality glossy plastic, inserts of polished aluminum and rare woods in the top-end Prestige configuration - all this suggests that the crossover belongs to the premium segment.
But the two-tone finishes and the ability to optionally choose a color for many interior elements hint at the "feminine" character of Ewok. By the way, according to experts, the seats in the salon are also more ladies' ones - a large man will be uncomfortable in them because of their relatively small dimensions. If you go a little further, you will have to call for help, since their element is the track. But the Range Rover Ewok can be used both on the track and in the wilderness - however, if you operate it only in impassable mud, then it is better (and cheaper) to buy something more budgetary.

As for the price, the numbers are likely to fully justify the concept of "premium crossover", without any discounts on the "compact". It is too early to judge this, since the cost of the car has not yet been officially announced. But this figure is unlikely to be less than $ 50,000 for the basic configuration and about $ 70,000 for the top one.

The next difference to the Range Rover Velar trim levels after the grille is the front bumper. In the usual configuration, the bumper will be curved in width, without additional aerodynamic openings. The lower part of the bumper of the usual Velar is decorated with a small additional grille for the engine airflow, the entire bumper from below is emphasized by a black plastic splitter, which also serves as an additional engine protection.
Unlike the regular Velar, the R-Dynamic and First Edition trims have additional stylish aerodynamic vents with gold-colored dividers on the sides of the bumper.
