Inexpensive and reliable car; Opel Zafira review with mileage. The main disadvantages and weaknesses of the Opel Zafira with mileage The main disadvantages of the Opel Zafira

18.10.2016

Opel zafira) second generation - a large and comfortable car at an affordable price, perhaps the best option for a large family. Especially if the budget for buying a car is not large, it is worth noting that Zafira is one of the most affordable ones on the secondary market. There are very few negative reviews about this car, but still, it has drawbacks, but what they are, and what to look for before buying this model, now let's talk.

A bit of history:

For the first time, the Opel Zafira was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the spring of 1997, but in the guise of a prototype, the real history of the minivan began in 1999. The technical properties of the Opel Zafira resemble the Opel Astra, but still, there are some differences. For example, a reinforced rear suspension and a larger bumper with air intake. In 2003, taking into account the emergence of a large number of competitors, the company's management decided to easily update the car, after which the exterior slightly changed, and the list of available options increased. In 2005, a new generation of the model was presented in Geneva, built on a new platform, with a fundamentally changed body design. Thanks to the new platform, the body length has increased by 15 cm, the width - by 4 cm, and the height - by 1 cm. Also, the proprietary feature of the car has been improved - the fast transformation of the interior. Most of the cars sold on the secondary market are assembled in Poland or Russia.

Advantages and disadvantages of Opel Zafira with mileage.

As operating experience has shown, the paintwork is very soft, because of this, chips and scratches appear on the body quite quickly. After 5-6 years of operation, paint begins to swell on the tailgate, wheel arches and rear doors. Despite this, the body parts do not rust for a long time.

Power units

The range of Opel Zafira engines is presented in both gasoline and diesel versions. The most widespread are gasoline engines 1.6 (105 and 115 HP), 1.8 (140 HP) and diesel 1.7 (110, 125 HP) and 1.9 (100, 120, 150 HP). There is also an unusual version of the 1.6 engine, which runs on natural gas, but meeting such a car is a great success. For those who like to "light up", there is a 2.2 engine (150 hp), a 2.0 turbo engine (200 hp) and a sports version of the OPC (240 hp).

The timing drive for gasoline and diesel engines is belt-driven, officially, the replacement interval is 150,000 km, but many owners recommend changing it at least once every 100,000, since very often the belt breaks when the mileage is 110-130 thousand km. Gasoline aspirated engines have a common problem with automatic timing control. If the car has this defect, you will understand it immediately: after starting cold engine, the sound of a gasoline engine will more resemble an old diesel engine. If this problem is not cured, at the most inopportune moment the car will stall and you will not be able to start it.

Often there is a failure of the mechanical synchronization system of the intake camshaft, for fixing the problem in the service they will ask for $ 20-50. But if you ignore the operation of a gasoline engine with the sound of a diesel engine, you will soon need to replace the gears and camshaft oil seals. With a mileage of more than 80,000 km, an oil leak appears from under the cylinder head and oil seals, it must be urgently eliminated, otherwise the oil will get on the timing belt, which will result in costly repairs to the power unit. Diesel engines from Opel Zafira are very reliable and economical, but if the previous owner used poor quality fuel, be prepared to repair the fuel system. Replacement of nozzles (400-500 cu), injection pump (300-400 cu). On all cars, closer to 100,000 km of run, the ignition module begins to fail, floating speed and unstable traction of the car will serve as a signal of a malfunction. Also, this run requires replacement of the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat

Transmission

Opel Zafira is equipped with a mechanical, automatic or robotic transmission Easytronic (Izitronic). Up to 100,000 km there are no complaints about the manual transmission, after which there are jerks when starting off, hum and vibration when shifting gears and driving. This happens due to the wear of the secondary shaft and the roller bearing, the repair will cost about 350 USD. The clutch has a sufficiently large resource and is capable of serving 120-140 thousand km, replacement will cost 400-500 USD. For many car enthusiasts, Easytronic looks like an automatic transmission, but in terms of its reliability it is very much inferior to an automatic transmission. Therefore, often not honest sellers who sell cars with a problematic robot indicate in their ad that the car has an automatic transmission, be extremely careful.

If the car is used only for driving on the highway, then the robotic transmission can last 150,000 km. But if the car is operated in a metropolis, then an expensive gearbox repair will be needed when the mileage is less than 100,000 km. The most common problem is clutch failure, repairs will cost $ 700-900, the same amount will have to be paid for replacing the mechatronics. The best option for purchasing would be an Opel Zafira with a conventional automatic transmission. As operating experience has shown, breakdowns in this transmission are extremely rare. On some cars, there is an underfilling of oil, in which case gears may change poorly, and you can also feel jerks when shifting. Usually, after adding oil, these problems go away on their own.

Driving performance Opel Zafira

The suspension of this model is quite primitive, an independent MacPherson-type suspension is installed in front, a semi-independent beam at the rear. If you drive this car carefully and do not overload it, then the first serious repair of the suspension will have to be done closer to 80 thousand kilometers. Like most modern cars, the stabilizer struts are considered the weak point of the suspension; they have to be changed, on average, every 30-40 thousand km. Hub bearings, despite their high cost, rarely live up to 60,000 km, replacement will cost 120-180 USD. Support bearings serve 40-50 thousand km, front shock absorbers become unusable after 100,000 km, but only on condition that you do not overload the car. The cost of the original shock absorber is about $ 100-120, for the same money you can buy a pair that is not original.

The rest of the front suspension parts of the Opel Zafira nurture more than 100,000 km. Steering rods and tips have a resource of 100-120 thousand km. The rear suspension is considered not to be killed, the only thing that will have to be replaced is the rear beam dampers after 120,000 km (replacement on both sides will cost $ 40). If the steering rack begins to leak, do not rush to go to the service and change it to a new one, for a replacement at the dealer you will have to pay about 1000 cu. Try to find a specialist in the repair of this unit in your city, the repair will cost $ 100-200.

Outcome:

Opel Zafira will appeal to people who are cramped in station wagons, sedans and hatchbacks, as well as those who like to travel in a large company. If we talk about the reliability and cost of car maintenance, then in these components the car will give only positive emotions. The main thing is to find a live specimen! Also, avoid buying a car with a robotic transmission.

Advantages:

  • Capacity (7 seats).
  • High-quality interior materials.
  • Long service life of engines.
  • Reliable suspension

Disadvantages:

  • Weak paintwork.
  • Robotic transmission.
  • Not a very comfortable driver's seat.
  • Noise isolation.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you had to face during the operation of the car. Perhaps it is your feedback that will help the readers of our site when choosing a car.

"I'm going to buy an Opel Zafira B. Help me decide on the engine and gearbox."

The compact MPV Opel Zafira B is based on the modified Astra H platform and is unified with it in many parts. This also applies to engines and gearboxes, so problems with service and the availability of the necessary spare parts are not expected.

As for gasoline engines, the 140-horsepower 1.8 is the best option from all points of view. Why? Judge for yourself: a 1.6-liter engine (105 hp before 2008 and 115 hp after) is still rather weak for a car with a curb weight of more than 1400 kg, moreover, it is not much more economical than the aforementioned engine. And with age, it can.

Possibilities of a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 200 or 240 hp (in the OPC version) for a family car are already somewhat redundant, despite the fact that the fuel consumption is higher, and the requirements for the quality of fuels and lubricants are higher than that of atmospheric engines.

In theory, a very pleasant 2.2-liter 150-horsepower engine could be an excellent alternative. However, direct fuel injection makes this option less attractive in terms of reliability, maintainability and cost of repairs than the 1.8-liter multi-point fuel injection option.

As for the general weaknesses of the gasoline versions, this is the ignition module, the sensors failing, and far from the most reliable wiring. In addition, engines are quite sensitive to the quality of the engine oil and the timing of its replacement. This is especially true of turbo engines and a 2.2-liter engine with direct fuel injection (it is indicative that in Russia there were problems with high-pressure fuel pumps, which were attributed to the use of low-quality fuel).

Let's remember about the diesel versions. The Zafira B in the early years of production was equipped with a 1.9-liter CDTI with a capacity of 100, 120 and 150 hp, as well as a 2.2-liter CDTI (125 hp), which was discontinued with the appearance of the new 1 in 2008. 7-liter engines complying with the Euro 5 standard (110 and 125 hp). The best option is the old 2.2-liter engine, but it remains to be seen. Next, we would recommend paying attention to the 120-horsepower 1.9 CDTI, which is also considered a very good choice. However, in the case of a "used", it is not the modification that is more important, but the technical condition of a particular instance. So, no matter what option we are talking about, a thorough diagnosis of the Common Rail fuel system, an assessment of the condition of the turbine, and a particulate filter (if any) are highly recommended.

If we talk about the transmission, the least attractive option is the Easytronic robotic box, which was installed in combination with a 1.8-liter engine. During operation, it is annoying with its slowness, and in operation it requires qualified maintenance (the operation of the "automated" clutch needs to be checked every 30 thousand km). However, the manual transmission of the F17 is far from ideal: cases of its premature failure are not so rare, and this is on cars under 10 years old! Therefore, before buying, be sure to check if the transmission is not accompanied by increased noise or extraneous sounds. Another cause for disappointment is not the cheapest clutch.

So a relatively rare version with a classic "automatic" (4-speed for a gasoline engine 2.2 and 6-speed for powerful diesel modifications) has a right to life. The main thing is that the box has proper maintenance in the past and is in good condition today.

As for the undercarriage, it is simple and reliable. The only exceptions are the insufficiently durable and rather expensive wheel bearings, which are replaced together with the hub. If the previous owner made full use of the vehicle's cargo-and-passenger capabilities, do not be surprised by the "tired" shock absorbers and sagging rear axle springs.

Finally, the body. The boot lid is considered a weak point, but a thorough check of the entire car does not hurt. In general, as practice shows, corrosion on a used Zafira B -. In addition, many owners criticized the inadequate quality paintwork and not very durable fog lamp glasses, as well as "sweating" taillights.

It may seem that there are too many disadvantages. In fact, by modern standards, the Zafira B is quite a reliable, solid car, maintaining which in a technically sound condition in most cases costs a reasonable price. If simplicity and reliability are a priority, give preference to the petrol version 1.8 (140 hp), if you want a good combination of power and economy, look for the diesel version 2.2 TDCI. On the other hand, Zafira B has no frankly unsuccessful engines, any version, subject to proper technical condition, can be considered for purchase, the only question is the cost of maintenance and service. But in the case of transmission, we are more categorical: a manual transmission is better, and if it comes to that, instead of a "robot" it is better to look for a version with a classic "automatic".

There were many different cars. Basically, sedans are used, so there is something to compare with. Started with GAZ 3110, then VW B5 American. Behind him is the VW Passat CC. Then Audi A6 and in May 2013 Zafira C Cosmo 2.0cdti on manual transmission. The main motive for Zafira's choice is still a bright appearance, a huge interior and a diesel engine (albeit from Opel).

In advance, as they say. I accept any criticism on the review, positive or negative, I believe that everyone has their own opinion and choice! Further in order.

Purchase. I bought a new one from a dealer Genser in Lyubertsy for 1,080,000, prepaid 20%. Options are only desired! Such as electric mirrors (convenient), ten in the cabin filter housing. Current 200A * 14 \u003d 2800W of warm air immediately after starting the internal combustion engine and headlight washers (since in this configuration the optics are lensed with a shutter with the calculation of installing the left xenon), they discussed it immediately and added it to the order.

Almost 6 months later, on 05/17/2013 they called! Arrived-paid-left, but not far. Since the fuel was about a liter. Well, that's the lyrics already.

Impression

All the way I got used to both the internal combustion engine and the box. At first, there was even an echo inside the car (roof - glass + windshield panorama).

On the chassis and internal combustion engine. 131 h.p. and 300 Nm is a diesel. Noisy outside, humming pleasantly inside. We get under way without gas even uphill, even from the second or third. Locomotive traction - from 1,200 to 3,000 rpm continuous. There is no point in twisting more. Diesel operators will understand.

Box. Basically, I wanted a mechanic in view of living in the Moscow region, working there. Namely, 120 km round trip every day. There was a CVT, a DSG, and a classic hydraulic transmission. At first it seemed tugovat, but after the first 2,000 km the manual transmission lever was developed. The clutch pedal is harsh. The brakes are 4 points - you can be a little sharper. The electric power steering wheel steers superbly. From speed it pours as it should be.

Suspension. Average energy intensity for the parameter. In view of the 7 seater salon, the rear is tougher than necessary. But having seated several people, everything changes! Permanent construction of the cottage. 8-10-12 40 kg bags of glue turn the tailgate into a soft but assembled D-class sedan.

The handling of a passenger car. The modernized layout and layout of the Astra wheelbase. At 110,000 km they shaken up with a mount. No critical spots were found - the result of smooth roads (90% M5 and A107) and a careful driving style.

Interior. COSMO complete set. Cruise, panorama warm steering wheel, etc. You can read on the Internet. Of the special stages, as already mentioned above, folding mirrors, heating elements in the salon and a headlight washer. Everything is convenient and close at hand. And it works to this day ... ugh ... ugh ... ugh ...

A bunch of shelves and hiding places. The 7-seater salon was here by default, the price does not change for the failure of the 3rd row. As well as for the panoramic glass, by the way, which burst from a pebble in the second week of use. Crack 30 cm in 2 beams on the passenger side. It's a shame. The price tag at that time at the OD was 47 tr. under the order 2 months. I go now. It is damp and does not grow. Pilkington glasses are slag.

Seats ... Buckets. Perfectly designed. Customization is not a problem. If I roll back to the end, then my feet do not reach either the pedals or the wall, I sit behind me behind me, there are also places in front of my knees 10-15 cm. Height is 188. And my weight is 115 kg.

With the third row unfolded, everyone has to make room together. The second row has a longitudinal and transverse degree of freedom of movement. It is a pity that they are not filmed like on Fords. Distance from driver's back to boot lid 182 cm. Flat floor. In nature, what you need with a young wife. One and a half bed. With a porch in the form of open 5 doors.

The music in the Opel Zafira Tourer is great. The sound is pleasant to drain. Bluetooth and flash drives. Navi is not and did not want to. There is also Yandex, with traffic jams and so on. Cruise control and speed limit on the left, and multimedia with voice dialing on the right on the steering wheel. Stylish red lighting inserts in the door panels. All glass door closers with anti-jamming properties, like the curtain on the ceiling.

Two glove compartments, a large one and a smaller one. In velvet and backlit. The plastic is soft and cuddly where you need it. 5 points are shorter. The climate is two-zone. Adequate, but a little noisy at full fan speed, and there are already 7 of them.

3 sockets 12V. To the one that I hooked up the inverter 220 in the trunk, I cut the socket in the same place. 500W is enough for a 32 "LCD TV and 2 ice floodlights of 30w each. Outdoor barbecue in the evening by the lake, 80Ah battery. There are even more secrets in the trunk! A find for a hunter or a fisherman. Plastic is hard, but why else is there. Obvious crickets for 120,000 did not appear!

The review is excellent! Parktronics or cameras do not require even with such a rather impressive size. Inserts in the A-pillars help out. You can see everything around the bends. They sweat sometimes, but there are separate vents there. We turn on the defrost of the windshield (with the default kondeem) 15 seconds and that's it ... ALL the glasses are sweaty!

Exterior. Well, not for everybody. My white - black roof (glass), headlight inserts too. What a contrast. The paintwork is excellent. I drive with a large chip / dent on the hood near the headlight from the stone for 70,000 already. There is no hint of rust.

In the same summer I ran into a curb with one front wheel hanging. They pulled me off by the tie. Hush and ripped the threshold to the metal. Without glossing over, I dashed off 2 summers and 2 winters. There is no rust there. Some kind of miracle. The clearance is sufficient for a city car, like everyone else.

Dim home headlights - shine perfectly. The far one is rather weak. The shutter opens the focus of the same lamp. An additional section with a separate far would not hurt. Inserted xenon - OD at the next MOT adjusted without complaints. The cut is clear. There are even places for a regular xen on the headlamp unit, but not for 40 tr. from Opel. There are lenses and a washer for the nuts. They never asked even for that. And in general this car is not interesting to them. Stopped 3-5 times in 4 years.

Light and rain sensors sane, but not ideal. There is no tunnel recognition by light. Sometimes they live their lives in the rain. Off-on ... Passed. The auto-distance light is also buzzing. I discovered this function after only 4 months.

What did you dislike or disadvantages:

Hood. Firstly, it goes down a lot and 40 cm in length, moreover. I don't see in front of me at all, even though I don't rise. I got used to it pretty quickly. Half of the engine in the cabin. Torpedo because of this half a meter deep (compact). Glass also goes far ahead, it is unrealistically difficult to wash.

There are many corners where you can crawl with cleaning only with a toothpick.

Is it warm in winter? Not in place. Only on the go. All the heat from the engine is taken by the stove to heat the 7-seater cabin. I save myself with a car blanket and a piece of polystyrene foam in front of the radiator. To put it in, turn off 4 torcs, bend the apron and try to push it. There is no space in the engine compartment at all. Everything is very tight! I could not put an additional pipe - I did not find where.

Well, now dessert. What broke for 120,000 km.

1. Glow plug in the 4th cylinder. HORSE PRICE LIST for today (8000 r). At -29 without it started with difficulty. Twisted for 15-20 seconds. It was scary somehow, but ... did not disappoint. Failed only because of the fuel filter, even at -15. Changes with a key to 34, and a cardboard under the back on the grass, in 5 minutes. The instructions describe everything.

2. Both rear tumanki went out - bulbs sockets rotted.

3. Both front tumanki turned yellow and fogged up.

4. Tear off the rubber skirt on the front bumper from below (Opel disease) - tore it off completely and threw it away).

5. And that's it! There was nothing else!

I change the oil and filter myself every 15,000 km. Front pads 60,000 without problems. Rear 90,000 too. At 112,000 he changed the timing and drive belts with all the rollers and pump. As of - clearly on the scheduled 120,000 km would fit - five hours of labor and you're done! Long time, yes. Forgivable for the first time in life. The savings amounted to 11,000 - the price of work for non-officials.

Outcome

I will be glad to answer your questions. Thank you all and good luck with everything!

Once upon a time, minivans were a class of cars that were predicted to have a brighter future. And now there are just one or two minivans on our market. There are many reasons. There is pressure from the crossover market, and an increase in the consumer characteristics of hatchbacks, but the fact remains: there are very few full-fledged minivans on the Russian market. And, perhaps, the most popular model for a good ten years has been the Opel Zafira B, an "almost full-size" seven-seater minivan. Almost an ideal choice for those for whom the C-class car is cramped, and the size of the parking lot does not allow taking a bigger car.

This is not the first generation of the model. Zafira A appeared back in 1999, immediately gained high popularity in Europe and was in good demand around the world. It's funny that in Japan it was sold as a Subaru Traviq, but otherwise - no exotic, only the native emblems of GM. Vauxhall in England, Holden in Australia, Chevrolet in the US and China. At the same time, the main "generic" features of the model were formed: seven-seater, flexible configuration of the cabin with very small dimensions and excellent, absolutely not "bus" handling. The latter has become almost the main characteristic feature of the model, and there is someone! Specialists from Porsche helped Opel develop the car. The car was so successful that the Zafira A was sold in some regional markets in Asia until 2012.

The first Zafira was replaced in 2005 by the second. The concept of the car has not changed: the car is still based on the components and assemblies of the Opel Astra model, has approximately the same dimensions as its predecessor and the same range of engines. The new generation of the model became the basis for the minivan. From a technical point of view, the models are very close, they have many identical components and assemblies, but since the minivan is much heavier than hatchbacks, the range of engines and gearboxes is still different. The popularity of the car remained quite high until the release of the successor, the Zafira Tourer model in 2011: even more powerful, larger, with an even greater number of options, and more expensive. But, oddly enough, the older model was not taken out of production, but continued to be released as the Zafira Family after a slight restyling. So do not be surprised - the past Zafira was released in parallel with the new one not only in our country near St. Petersburg, but also in Europe.

In outline

Like the base model, the overall Zafira has proven to be very reliable and user-friendly. The handling of the car is traditionally completely light, while driving you feel like in a normal passenger car. Of course, two places in the trunk are not very suitable for large people, but if we are not talking about long journeys, then the car is quite seven-seater. And, of course, if two extra seats are not needed, then they add up perfectly, and other "heels" will eventually envy the free space.

Breakdowns and problems in operation

Engines

The motors here are almost the same as on the Astra H, and if you want more details, I recommend contacting. But since the car is still noticeably heavier, a 2.2 liter engine appeared in the range of motors, already familiar from the family. This is a 155-horsepower engine with direct injection Z22YH, it does not belong to the most beloved engines by opelevovers due to the low reliability of the direct fuel injection system, possible timing problems and relatively expensive spare parts. Much more popular are the 1.8 Z18XER motors or the similar A18XER on cars of later years of production. This 140-horsepower engine represents the "golden mean": it is powerful enough for this heavy car and allows you to feel confident not only in the city, but also on the highway. Moreover, it has a simple and cheap design. Its 1.6-liter fellow Z16XER is still rather weak, and if the lack of power is not very noticeable in city traffic, then every ten horsepower is important on the track. More powerful engines come out significantly more expensive to buy and maintain. Quite successful and powerful engines of the Z20LET, Z20LER, Z20LEH series with a power of 170, 200 and 240 hp, respectively, are very rare. These turbo engines are made on the basis of the old X20XEV series engines, which provides a relatively low cost of spare parts and high reliability in operation. But cars with these engines are expensive and extremely rare, and unlike 2.2 engines, they are not combined with automatic transmissions. Most likely, the point is that the powerful turbo engine under the hood of a family car is frankly redundant.

Diesel engines 1.7 and 1.9 liters were not officially sold with us, but there are many cars with these engines on the market. These are cars from Europe, where diesel Zafirs are much more popular than gasoline ones. The main incentive to purchase such a car is an automatic transmission. However, the engines themselves are also very good, with a lively character and high reliability. Just do not forget to change the timing belt at least once every 60 thousand kilometers. Otherwise, the problems are the same as in all diesel engines: a jammed EGR valve, a dirty particulate filter on Euro-4 and Euro-5 modifications and the inevitable risk of bad diesel fuel getting into the tank, followed by a bunch of problems in the fuel system and not only.

Transmission

The big problem for Zafir was the gearbox. Manual transmissions on 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines are five-speed F17, which I am talking about. Unfortunately, their reliability is frankly low - I strongly recommend that you carefully check the gearbox upon purchase, and then constantly monitor the level and quality of the oil in the crankcase during operation. On a heavy minivan, the chance of transmission failure is noticeably higher than on lighter hatchbacks, so you should not relax. In combination with two-liter turbo engines, a manual transmission of the M32 series is used. This six-speed box also came with a surprise in the form of failing bearings and shafts. The problems are the same as for the F17, but the maintainability is generally higher and there are good options for a simple replacement for the F16-F20 gearbox, which reduces the severity of the problem. With automatic transmissions on Zafira, everything is not very good either. Not in the sense that they are unreliable, they just did not install full-fledged automatic transmissions on the most running engines 1.6 and 1.8. Only the "robot" Izitronic, which, in fact, is a conventional F17 box with electric clutch and gear shifting. Like all "robots" of the first generation, it is not very suitable for heavy urban traffic, and even pleases with a not very high, about 60 thousand kilometers, resource of executive devices. A full-fledged automatic transmission on Zafira can be obtained only in tandem with a 2.2l gasoline engine (in fact, this is probably the main reason for buying such a car), or in combination with a diesel engine. This is all the more annoying because on the Zafira A and on the Astra H, the 1.8 engine is perfectly combined with an automatic transmission, and it is very successful, albeit not very modern. On the new Zafira, the gasoline engine is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission Aisin AW55-50SN, aka AF33, and a newer and stronger box Aisin Warner AW TF-80SC, aka AF40, for diesel engines. Automatic transmissions are quite reliable, you can read about the nuances of operation in the material about. With a calm movement and an oil change every 60 thousand kilometers or more, they are quite capable of living a long and happy life.

Chassis

The suspension of the car is quite simple in design and perfectly withstands a relatively heavy minivan. The main consumables are the same as on the Astra: they are stabilizer struts, rear wishbone bushings and thrust bearings. With a run of about 100 thousand, it is worth checking the silent blocks of the rear beam, they may already crack, especially with worn springs and frequent movement with full load, etc. In general, the suspension resource deserves respect - without serious investments, it allows you to cover a hundred, or even one and a half hundred thousand kilometers.

Body and interior

Interior quality is roughly the same as in the Astra H, adjusted for generally richer configurations. Good quality materials and sound insulation and the absence of frankly poor configurations make the car an extremely attractive option "for every day." But the design is gloomy - unfortunately, this is a generic feature of Opel cars of these years. Not everyone will like the frankly technogenic style of performance, the faceted console and the abundance of gray and silver inserts. The main problems, in general, are the same as those of the Astra: this is the CIM steering column module, fading information displays in inexpensive versions and many small failures of a wide variety of electrics on cars of the first years of production. Specific ones are also added, for example, leaks in the fastening of the roof rails and the rear brake light, the ingress of water into the passenger compartment through the seals when washing the car and vibration of the developed overhead console. In general, with regard to the interior and suspensions, the car belongs to the most practical and convenient devices, perhaps the most economical to operate in its class today.

pros

➕ Roomy trunk
➕ Reliability
➕ Manageability

The advantages and disadvantages of the Opel Zafira 2007-2008 are revealed based on feedback from real owners. More detailed pros and cons of Opel Zafira 1.8 and 1.9 petrol and diesel with mechanics, robot and front-wheel drive can be found in the stories below:

Owner reviews

1. Roomy.
2. Good handling.
3. Indestructible suspension.
4. Excellent climate control.
5. Starts up in any frost (the minimum temperature in which the winding up - 37, wound up on 1 attempt after an overnight stay in the yard).
6. Predictable and quite high resource of units.
7. Fuel consumption (AI-92) in the city is 10-11 liters in winter and summer, on a highway with a box on the roof - 6.8-7 liters. I did not feel the difference between 92 and 95 gasoline.
8. Very grippy brakes.

1. Poor permeability (although, of course, depending on what to compare with).
2. Poor visibility (very wide front pillars, small mirrors), often pedestrians "come up out of nowhere" and you need to be prepared for this.
3. In frost below -20, the interior warms up after 10 minutes of warm-up and 30 minutes of driving at an average speed of 50-60 km / h, and then only if there is a car blanket.

Review of Opel Zafira Family 1.8 (140 HP) with mechanics 2006 onwards

Video review

I want to say right away that I really liked the car. Outwardly beautiful, inside space, a lot of transformation options. In the cabin, in comparison with the Japanese, everything is different, at first it was unusual, but then I realized that it was better for me, more comfortable here (I felt right away - my lower back stopped hurting, I sat on the King for 10 minutes and started whining, no matter how I adjusted the seat) ...

The car is operated daily - the child goes to kindergarten, his wife and himself to work, in the evening in reverse order. On average, 30-40 km per day. Mileage to date is 56,000 km.

Engine. Installed Z18XER 1.8 140 hp Good high-torque high-speed engine with variable valve timing system. There is enough power. Lucky!

For me it seemed interesting how it starts. First, as the saying goes, "half-kick", that is, like a diesel engine - just turned the key and it already works. And also in winter! The minimum temperature at which the ringleader is -38 C.

Secondly, as soon as it starts up, the revolutions are set at 1000 rpm and gradually, within 1-5 minutes (depending on the temperature outside), they decrease to idle ~ 750 rpm. There is no terrible "warm-up" roar for 15-20 minutes!

By the way, my consumption is from 7 to 15 l / 100 km, and 15 l was "achieved" in those very frosts exclusively in the city (and the city stood decently - the average speed on the board computer was 14 km / h). Warm-ups were - 3 times a day, 10 minutes each. Now it's warmer, the on-board computer shows already (!) 14l / 100 km. A lot of! In summer, the city is about 10.5-11 l / 100 km. Driving style is active.

Transmission. There is a box F17, 5 steps. Mechanics, and I thought that I would not remember how to ride it! But no, “Remember! They remember the little ones! " (from). Still, for me, a manual transmission is better than an automatic transmission. Like.

The most pleasant speed is 100-120 km / h. In this case, the engine speed is about 3,000 - 3,200 rpm. Goes easily and more, gained 150 km / h, handling remains the same excellent, but the acoustic noise is already annoying. I would like the 6th gear already. Switches clearly. Normal, ordinary box.

Driving performance. Excellent! The suspension is knocked down, elastic, quite strong. I have never punched, well, maybe I drive carefully. The car, of course, for the track, its element, you can light it up! It walks along the track like a train on rails, very stable. But it seemed to me that she was afraid of the ruts - there were areas where there was a clear track on the asphalt - I tried to jump out, drove along the road.

Review of Opel Zafira Family 1.8 (140 HP) manual transmission 2008

The car was used mainly for driving on the highway (approximately 90% of the distance covered). Consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 km in summer and about 6 liters in winter. In the city, consumption increases by 1.5-2.0 liters. I don’t drive much, but at 100 km / h the car goes perfectly, and at 130 km / h it gets scary. There is a bad feeling that the car is being pulled off the road.

Noise isolation is one of the disadvantages of the machine. The car is quite noisy. At high speed, you have to speak loudly, but not yell. Well, the main problem is clearance. He's missing. The lower molding (skirt) tore in the first month, driving onto the curb.

The car was bought as a family car. Four fit without problem. Large trunk where you can put a bunch of all kinds of junk. If something does not fit into the trunk, there is a roof with rails. The transportation of any goods does not cause problems.

When the family was replenished, they decided to use the third row of seats. Suddenly it turned out that the third row was made incomprehensibly for whom. A nine-year-old human cub of slender constitution (among the common people drishch) can be accommodated there with great discomfort. Sits down, covering his ears with his knees. During one trip (about 6 km) I hit my head twice on the second row of seats. How to use the third row is not clear.

Review about Opel Zafira 1.9D diesel with mechanics 2009

Car produced in 2012, bought in 2013 new in the salon. Reliability has not yet failed. I only changed fluids and lamps.

The sitting is super. I have problems with my lower back. But 1400 pass by this car without an overnight stay. The capacity of the car is completely satisfied. The trunk is huge. While building the house, I spent the night in the car for several days. Slightly diagonally, but slept at full height on a flat surface.

I really liked the balance of the car, namely handling / comfort and power / consumption. Sometimes I think that I would like more power, but then the consumption will be higher.

If there are very short sections for overtaking, then the "sport" button makes the car faster, but more twitchy and less comfortable. And the consumption is growing. Stands on the road confidently, steers perfectly for a van, besides, with a beam in the back. For this, I am ready to sacrifice a little heavy steering wheel when parking.

The lowest launch temperature was -37. Started up immediately. True, the sounds at first were such that it was a pity for the car, but literally 5-10 seconds.

Review of Opel Zafira B 1.8 (140 HP) with a robot of 2012

Today the mileage is 90,000 km. During this time there was only one glitch - the check was burning, the car was stupid, the box did not switch ... A visit to the diagnostician revealed a frayed wiring leading to the speed sensor. The postings were corrected - the problem was solved.

What I like about the car: spaciousness, very comfortable seats, high ground clearance, carrying capacity of 630 kg, excellent suspension, 7-seater, universal body, many stars in crash tests, etc.

What's not to like about the car: it is very inconvenient to change the dipped beam lamps and the cabin filter ... If the filter is even less so, then the bulbs ... Also, who came up with the idea of \u200b\u200bturning the air conditioner on and off through the menu? Was it really impossible to make a separate button?

A kind of robot box ... But we got used to it. The wife, after the automatic transmission, of course, swore heavily!
