A used Chinese Chery Tiggo is not as bad as it seems. Chery Tiggo - Chery Tiggo T11 gambling lottery jerks when picking up speed

The first Cherie Tigos rolled off the assembly line in 2005. Crossovers for the Russian market were produced in China and here in Russia - until 2008 at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, and since 2010 at TagAZ under the name Vortex Tingo. The prototype was the second generation Toyota RAV4 SUV. Licensed Mitsubishi power units were placed under the hood.

Chery Tiggo, due to its low price, is in good demand in its class. How the crossover will behave in terms of reliability in the future certainly depends on the operating conditions and the literacy of maintenance. But there is one but…. Among other things, a matter of chance plays an important role. In addition to the "genealogical" diseases, there are also unforeseen ones - suddenly arising. As a result, under the same operating conditions, someone drives and does not know troubles, and someone tortures himself by eliminating infinitely emerging faults. Therefore, the opinion of the owners of this car is ambiguous. It should also be added that the native Chinese assembly is of higher quality than the Russian one.

Engines

The Cherie Tigo crossover was equipped with 2.4 l / 130 hp gasoline engines. and 1.8 l / 132 hp. A little later, 1.6 l / 119 hp appeared. and 2.0 l / 136 hp.

Some 2.4L Tiggo owners have experienced unpleasant valve breaks and broken connecting rods. The engine is prone to "waste" of coolant through the lower radiator pipe, the junction of the pump with the thermostat tube, or through the tube itself. Sometimes plugs in the cylinder block "leak".

For a 1.8 liter engine, difficulties with cold start in severe frosts are characteristic - below 15 degrees. The culprit is the coolant temperature sensor. Less commonly, the reason is "tired" ignition coils. Reduced traction and jerking at low revs are often caused by a malfunctioning MAF sensor.

Engines 1.6 l and 2.0 l do not suffer from "personalized" sores. But they are not devoid of common problems characteristic of Cherie Tigo.

Many people complain about the unsatisfactory quality of the working fluids used in the power unit. In particular, the coolant on Russian-assembled cars can precipitate over time, which often leads to the thermostat jamming in the open position.

Due to a malfunction of the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator, the engine starts to stall and stops starting the first time, and then refuses to start at all when the remaining fuel in the tank is less than half or 1/3. So that the trouble does not catch by surprise, especially savvy carry with them "NZ" in a volume of 5 liters. After a small portion of fuel, the engine starts easily. This behavior can be observed closer to 100,000 km. The harbinger is a slow reaction of the speed arrow to pressing the gas pedal. The original fuel pressure regulator rarely lasts a long time, its reliability is very low. "Masters" advise to install a fuel pressure regulator from "Volga" or "Lanos". Car service workers do not recommend cleaning the fuel pump mesh, since in 90% of cases the RTD fails after that.

Ignition coils and high-voltage wires can "order a long life" after 30-50 thousand km. It is not uncommon for drivers to notice jerking when accelerating in 2nd gear. In search of a solution to the problem, one has to deal with replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, coils, high-voltage wires and even the ECU firmware. But this does not always end with a positive outcome.

The fuel level sensor soon begins to "lie", and then completely lays down the pointer arrow to zero. The reason is the wear of the lamellas.

Transmission

The manual transmission is not very reliable. The life cycle of a box is accompanied by noises, crunches and rumbles. Switching problems appear at 40-80 thousand km. Cases of destruction of the suspension and secondary shafts are known.

On cable-operated gearboxes, the selector lever may "stick" due to the melting of the jacket of the cables located too close to the exhaust manifold. The problem takes place on the Tigo with engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters. On a Tiggo with a 2.4L engine, gear shifting problems can appear in winter due to moisture getting into the cable jackets or under the corrugation of the gearshift mechanism.

Clutch often “ends” after 70-90 thousand km, but there are also “lucky ones” who skated 150-160 thousand km before the first replacement. For replacement of the clutch, dealers ask about 10 thousand rubles, in a third-party service you will have to pay about 7-8 thousand rubles.

With the automatic transmission DP0, which Tigo got as a gift from Renault, not everything is smooth either. So, with a run of more than 30-40 thousand km, a gear with an exclamation mark is displayed on the dashboard. In this case, slight tremors may appear. The reason is the pressure modulation valves. The valves will either have to be replaced, or it will be possible to get off by flushing the valve body. The cost of the valve is 2-2.5 thousand rubles, and the replacement work is 4-6 thousand rubles. "Officials" ask for repairs up to 80-90 thousand rubles.

On cars older than 3 years, the box may not switch to the "P" (parking) mode due to the destruction of the fragile tip connecting the cable and the gear selector lever. Over time, corrosion appears on the contacts of the box connector comb.

The four-wheel drive versions of Cherie Tigo, released before May 2008, suffered from palpable vibration in the speed range of 60-100 km / h. The reason is incorrect balancing of the propeller shaft. The manufacturer managed to defeat the vibration by transferring the electrofusion to the rear gearbox and installing an outboard bearing in its place. CV joints, internal and external, often require replacement when the mileage is more than 70-90 thousand km.

Chassis

The crossover suspension has an average lifespan. The struts and bushings of the anti-roll bar require replacement for 40-60 thousand km. Front and rear shock absorbers begin to leak or knock after 60-100 thousand km. By the same time, the silent blocks of the levers are also suitable. With a run of more than 100 thousand km, the rear springs weaken.

Steering rods serve more than 40-70 thousand km. The steering rack can knock or leak after 60-90 thousand km. There are problems with the power steering pump - it leaks in the sensor area.

After 60-90 thousand km, the rear brake caliper guides often turn sour. There are also questions about the ABS unit, which begins to "glitch". The new unit costs about 30 thousand rubles, but its repair is not expensive. The reason for the "glitch" of the ABS unit can also be moisture that has got into the terminal block on the module.

Other problems and malfunctions

Body paintwork is tolerable. The metal at the site of the chips soon begins to bloom. Problem areas - hood, sills, bottom of the rear door. When driving through irregularities, door locks often sound. The disease is treated by wrapping the staple with electrical tape.

Crickets in the cabin settle in whole colonies. The front seats also begin to creak soon. It is possible to get rid of the squeak by gluing the fasteners. Over time, the paint on the steering wheel is wiped off.

The head unit also often causes problems. It doesn’t play discs, it doesn’t keep the wave, then it stops, meaningfully giving out the inscription “TOO HOT” - overheating. It is noteworthy that the warranty book indicates that the audio system is not covered by the warranty.

Over time, the stove fan starts to whistle. After lubricating the bushings, the whistle disappears. If the air flows in the passenger compartment are unevenly distributed in winter (the driver is cold and the front passenger is hot), then the clogged stove radiator will have to be replaced.

In wet weather or after washing, many are faced with the complete "silence" of the dashboard. The reason is moisture ingress. After several days of "drying", the panel's performance is restored.

Problems with the generator appear after 50-70 thousand km. The new generator will cost 5-6 thousand rubles.

Conclusion

Many owners compare the purchase of Chery Tiggo to playing the lottery. You never know how your car will show itself. It is also worth noting that the prices for original spare parts are significantly overstated, and they take care of much less than those that were originally installed during assembly. The resource of analogues is no less than the original spare parts.

Chinese crossover Chery tiggo was originally copied from. For the first time in Russia, these Chinese crossovers appeared in 2005. Some cars were brought disassembled and assembled at Avtotor in Kaliningrad.

Now these cars are already being sold on the secondary market, and we will examine in more detail the advisability of buying this used Chinese car.

The corrosion resistance of the Tiggo is not at a high level, these cars rust over time in about the same way as our Lada. The metal is not galvanized and where chips appear, metal begins to bloom, which means that after about 6 years, rust can grow in full. It is therefore vital for this machine to additionally apply an anti-corrosion coating.

The bumpers are made of cheap plastic, which is not very strong and can crack if you hook on something a little. At the car wash, you also need to be more careful, because a high pressure washer can beat off paint from mirrors and bumpers with water.

Salon

The cabin is in full swing plain hard plastic, it begins to creak very quickly, in addition, additional noise is created by door locks, which quickly loosen. The seats also creak, the fabric of which is quite thin, so it breaks easily, loses its shape, quickly gets rubbed and gets dirty. So time is not good for the Tiggo's interior, even the polyurethane foam inside the seats is wrinkled. But it's good that the unpleasant phenolic smell has already disappeared from the new cars.

The steering wheel, too, has not looked very pleasant since time, because the plastic peels off and wears off. The gear lever, especially the mechanical one, also quickly goes bald and looks worn.

The electronics in this car are simple, so there are no special problems with it, except perhaps, the tape recorder can junk and power windows fail over time. Replacing the tape recorder will cost $ 200, and rebuilding the windows will cost $ 80. Also, over time, the stove fan can start making loud noise - a new fan motor costs $ 100. The heater radiator is also quickly clogged with deposits, it must be periodically flushed, but over time it will still have to be changed to a new one, which costs $ 75, but to make this radiator less clogged, you need to fill in a better quality antifreeze.

Motors

The Mitsubishi 4G6 motors, which are more than 30 years old, are installed on Cherie Tiggo. There are engines with a volume of 2 and 2.4 liters, they have the same diseases: weak bearings on the generator - after 70,000 km. a hum appears, indicating that it is time to replace these bearings.

If you fill in low-quality oil, and even with a delay, then the valve pushers, whose resource does not exceed 100,000 km, will quickly fail. run if you change the oil on time and fill it with quality. Hydraulic pushers are inexpensive - $ 8 apiece, the main thing is not to let them jam, because then they will pull the valves, which means that you have to install a new cylinder head, which costs $ 700.

But there is also a more expensive development of events due to the design features of these motors. But this is more about inattentive owners. In these engines, the balancing shafts have bearing bushings that work without excess lubrication, so you need to ensure that the oil level in the crankcase is normal, otherwise the bearings without the required amount of oil will quickly wear out, after which the shafts will jam. And then there will be expensive repairs. By the way, in these motors, one must not forget to change the timing belt every 45,000 km., And you can also change the drive belt of the balancer shafts so that you do not have to do engine overhauls.

As with any car, you need to monitor the level of antifreeze in the cooling system, especially these motors can lose antifreeze at the pump connection point or antifreeze can flow out through the lower radiator pipe. Spark plugs must also be of high quality and working.

Even in Chery Tiggo, you need to fill in high-quality gasoline so that the gas pump will last longer. Moreover, in this gas pump fine mesh filterwhich can quickly become clogged if the gasoline is of poor quality.

In general, a gas pump costs only $ 80, and if the mesh is clogged, then the entire pump needs to be changed, but some owners simply remove the mesh, but there is a risk that the dirt from the fuel can get into the injectors, which cost $ 70 and they do not like dirt. When they fail, there will be a rumble during idle and a slight vibration.

There are also all-wheel drive versions of the Tiggo, their gas tank is divided by a cardan shaft into 2 halves, a pumping system is installed in the gas tank, which also has a quickly clogging filter. If such a mesh becomes clogged, then the fuel will not be pumped over, and the power reserve will be halved. Here you can also delete this mesh permanently, so as not to change it regularly.

After 2006, the Tiggo models were equipped with engines of their own production, which were designed by the Austrian company AVL. These are engines of the Acteco series with different displacement: 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liters. These motors are equipped with an electronic throttle control. It turned out quite successful power units, exactly, which is no worse than motors from Mitsubishi. They also require high-quality oil and antifreeze. There are cases that after 70 thousand km. engine mounts fail, replacing them will cost $ 25.

Cherie Tiggo's transmission

Front-wheel drive modifications are equipped with an automatic transmission. This automatic 4-speed, was borrowed from the French, the model is called DPO or AL4. These boxes were installed on Renault, Peugeot and Citroen after about 1995. It is not famous for its reliability. On Chery Tiggo cars, which are equipped with an Acteco engine, this box is installed, only in its name - QR425. It has its own characteristics: it does not like to work until it warms up, oil flows slightly through the oil seals, and after 80,000 km. jerks appear when shifting gears, which means that soon it will be necessary to change the pressure modulation hydraulic valves, the price of which is $ 100. There are also cases that the entire valve body will need to be replaced, its price is rather big - $ 500.

There is also a manual transmission, for this car it is a Chinese-made 5-speed QR523, it has an insufficiently thought-out design of multi-cone synchronizers. Very soon they create sounds similar to crunching, and after 80,000 km. gears will not shift well.

The clutch typically lasts less than 100,000 km. mileage, even the gearbox lever itself may stop obeying the driver due to the fact that the sheath of the cable drives melts on the exhaust manifold in summer, and in winter - on the contrary, when water gets inside the shell, the cables will begin to freeze to the exhaust manifold. Therefore, you will have to replace the sheath of the cable drives, it is inexpensive - about $ 15.

In addition, there is a design flaw in the all-wheel drive version - the car begins to tremble at speeds of 70 and 110 km / h. Despite dealer efforts to balance the driveshafts, the reason was the BorgWarner ITM 3e multi-plate clutch that connects the rear wheels. So, the whole reason for vibrations is that this clutch is rigidly attached to the bottom and at certain speeds of the propeller shaft, it enters into resonance with the body. By the way, the same clutch is installed on the famous crossovers from Hyundai and Kia.

To avoid vibrations, Chinese engineers put rubber silent blocks in the places where the coupling is attached, but this did not help much. This problem could not be solved until 2010, even stopped selling all-wheel drive configurations in 2008. But then the clutch was moved to the rear gearbox, and a support for the propeller shaft was put in its place, after which the vibrations disappeared.

Cherie Tiggo's pendant

The suspension is exactly the same as that of the 2nd generation Toyota RAV4, so there are almost no problems with the suspension. Toyota suspensions are reliable and durable, so the Chinese engineers did not fail with the choice of whom to copy. But all the same, the quality of the suspension parts is clearly not Toyota, therefore, the durability of the Tiggo's suspension leaves much to be desired. But when the time comes to make repairs, you can install Japanese parts instead of Chinese parts, then the service life will increase by 2-3 times, although the price of Japanese parts is about one and a half times more expensive.

After 40 thousand km. it will be necessary to replace the stabilizer bushings, the Chinese ones cost $ 8 apiece, and the Japanese ones - 12. Also, the struts will require replacement for this run, they cost about the same: 10 for China and 14 for Japan. After about 90 thousand kilometers follows replacement of shock absorbers, Chinese cost: 65 dollars for the front, and 45 for the rear, Japanese cost 120 and 90 dollars, respectively. Also up to 100 thousand km. it is necessary to change the silent blocks of the levers.

By the same mileage, the springs, especially the rear ones, may weaken, so the vehicle's clearance will decrease by 3-4 cm. Replacing the springs will cost $ 23 for China and $ 35 for Japan.

And another unpleasant feature of Cherie Tiggo is the brakes with guide fingers: here sour rear disc brake calipers... In addition, they begin to seize after 30,000 km. What is characteristic of these brakes is that the inner pads are worn out very quickly, while the outer ones remain intact. In this situation, you can try to clean the guide rods, or replace them. If the case is neglected, then you just have to install new calipers, which cost $ 160 each.

Cherie Tiggo's safety

As you know, Chinese cars in crash tests show not the best results, Chery Tiggo is no exception. This vehicle has 2 front airbags and belt pretensioners. In 2011, a crash test was carried out using the ANCAP method, in which a version with a 2-liter Acteco 2.0 engine and a steering wheel on the right side participated. When the car hit the wall at a speed of 64 km / h, the airbags worked late, and the dummy's head hit the steering wheel, in addition, the pedals shifted strongly into the passenger compartment on impact, as a result, the dummy injured its head, chest and legs. In the event of such a collision, the passenger will also not be without bruises. So, the result of this test is 2 points out of a possible 16.

When the Toyota RAV 4 was tested in 2002 by the ANCAP method, it quietly got a solid 4, as it scored 27.1 points out of 34. Still, 4 airbags are doing their job. Of course, during the test, Toyota was not all perfect - during a frontal impact, the steering wheel slightly shifted into the passenger compartment and the dummy in the driver's seat received a slight blow to the legs, and the dummy in the passenger seat escaped with a slight bruise on the chest. But the airbags worked well and on time, thanks to this, the injuries are minor.

Feelings of driving a Chery Tiggo

You feel pretty good driving a front-wheel drive Chery Tiggo with a 2.4-liter engine and a manual transmission, the motor is quite fast, accelerates with about the same dynamics as the Toyota RAV4, there is, of course, a difference of one and a half seconds in favor of Toyota. When you press the gas to the floor, the acceleration does not immediately take place, the car thinks for about half a second, and only then the revs increase. Gear shifting quickly and easily, handling is good too.

If we compare the Tiggo and RAV4, then the ride is even better for the Chinese, the suspension behaves softer, smoothing out minor irregularities on the road, and during turns the roll is less than that of Toyota. But in terms of noise, Toyota clearly wins: the engine runs quieter, the aerodynamic whistle is less and the rustle of tires is almost inaudible. Also, the Toyota RAV4 suspension does not emit unnecessary sounds, unlike Cheri. And, of course, the brakes of the Chinese are clearly worse than those of the Japanese.

UAZ Patriot, 2.7 l., 2009
Lightweight became on the move and overclocking. Especially for maneuverability. Became like a good foreign car. The car is not recognizable, it tumbles so that it is not inferior to any foreign car. I like to ride.

Good afternoon Vladislav. Today I received a parcel with a drosel and immediately put the knot. You can't recognize the car. Volga weighing 1.8 tons from a place tears with slipping over our mountains where it used to be in 3-4 gear now free on the 5th and still goes for overclocking... At the old node the speed is 90 km. clocked at 3000-3300 rpm. Now 2000-2300 rpm. overtaking is fun, there is no need to downshift... And at the same time I barely press on the gas pedal. So far, I am very pleased with the result.

I read a lot about tuning the drosel and decided to try it. My first impression was that the car accelerated easier. Previously, overclocking was from 3000, now from 2000 rpm. there is already a pick-up. I advise everyone, it really works! Although I had great doubts. And what about the fact that many write that this is a scam, do not twist it! First, TRY YOURSELF ... Yes, most importantly, I barely pressed the gas pedal, and the machine quickly accelerates. Earlier, after the throttle was released, there was a feeling that you were pulling someone in tow and he was slowing you down. ... after the throttle is released in gear, the vehicle continues to drive forward confidently. When you press the gas again, the car accelerates confidently without jerking.

Vortex Tingo 1.8 l., 2011
I was tuning the throttle. I've been traveling with him for 1.5 years. There is an effect. There were no problems, as they are trying to expose here. The car starts up perfectly, both in summer and at -35 in winter. Consumption has decreased.

Modified the throttle assembly. From service to home, I really enjoyed the ride. No more pedal pressure. I just put my foot down and the car GOES. At the bottom, it boldly undermines. A deep blunt hole disappeared when accelerating from 70 to 100 km / h. And the consumption has also dropped, while by 0.5 liters. Thank you so much for a job well done !!! Super!!!
After revision, the car, even with kondeem really GOES!

The vehicle is equipped with a closed loop distributed fuel injection system. Distributed injection is called multipoint injection because fuel is injected into each cylinder by a separate nozzle. The fuel injection system reduces the toxicity of the exhaust gases while improving the vehicle's driving characteristics.
This section only briefly describes the malfunctions of the injection system caused by the failure of certain sensors. The procedure for removing and installing units of power supply and engine control systems is given in subsections and.
In the closed-loop injection system, a catalytic converter and an oxygen concentration sensor in the exhaust gases are installed (on a Chery Tiggo car, two catalytic converters and two oxygen concentration sensors are installed in series), which provides feedback. The sensors monitor the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gases, and the electronic control unit, based on their signals, maintains the air-fuel ratio at which the catalytic converters work most efficiently. Moreover, the main control sensor is the sensor installed at the inlet to the collector, and the sensor installed at its outlet is diagnostic, it determines the quality of the entire engine management system as a whole. If the engine control unit, according to the information of the diagnostic sensor, detects an excess of oxygen concentration in the exhaust gases, which is not eliminated by calibrating the system according to the signals of the control sensor and means any system malfunction, it will turn on the engine malfunction warning lamp in the instrument cluster and enter an error code into the memory for further diagnostics ...
Warnings.
Before removing any components of the fuel injection system, disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery.
Disconnect the battery only with the ignition off.
Do not start the engine if the battery cable lugs are loose.
Never disconnect the battery from the vehicle's electrical system while the engine is running.
When charging the battery, disconnect it from the vehicle's electrical system, as the increased current during charging can damage the electronics.
Do not allow the electronic control unit (ECU) to heat above 65 ° C in working condition and above 80 ° C in non-working condition (for example, in a drying chamber). It is necessary to remove the ECU from the car if this temperature is exceeded.
Do not disconnect or connect the harness connectors from the computer with the ignition on.
Disconnect the battery cables and the computer harness connectors before performing electric arc welding on the vehicle.
Perform all voltage measurements with a digital voltmeter with an internal resistance of at least 10 megohms.
The electronic components used in the injection system are designed for very low voltages and can easily be damaged by electrostatic discharge. In order to prevent damage to the ECU by electrostatic discharge: - do not touch the ECU plugs or electronic components on its boards with your hands; - when working with the programmable read only memory (EPROM) of the control unit, do not touch the pins of the microcircuit.
It is not allowed to operate the engine with a neutralizer on leaded gasoline. This will lead to rapid failure of neutralizers and oxygen concentration sensors.
When operating in rainy weather, do not expose the electronic components of the fuel injection system to water.
Check the injection system in the following sequence.
1. Check the connection to the "weight" of the engine and the storage battery.
2. Check the fuel pump and fuel filter.
3. Check the fuses and the injection relay.
4. Check the reliability of contacts in the blocks with the wires of the injection system elements.
5. Check the sensors of the injection system.
The vast majority of fuel injection system malfunctions are caused by the failure of the following sensors:

Crankshaft position sensor - complete failure of the injection system, the engine will not start;

Throttle position sensor (installed in the throttle body cover) - loss of power, jerks and dips during acceleration, unstable idling;

Coolant temperature sensor - difficulties with starting in frost: you have to warm up the engine, maintaining the speed with the accelerator pedal, when driving, the engine may overheat with a significant decrease in power and the appearance of detonation;

Combined sensor of mass flow and temperature of incoming air - if the temperature measurement function fails, an increase in fuel consumption, an increase in the level of toxicity of exhaust gases, and if the function of measuring the flow rate fails, an increase in fuel consumption, a significant deterioration in dynamics, problems with starting the engine;

Knock sensor (installed on the left side of the cylinder block under the intake manifold in the area of \u200b\u200bthe 2nd and 3rd cylinders) - the engine is very sensitive to the quality of gasoline, an increased tendency to knock,
decrease in power;

The oxygen concentration sensor in the exhaust gases (lambda probe) - an increase in fuel consumption, a decrease in engine power, unstable idling.
Damage to the exhaust gas catalytic converter;

Phase sensor - decrease in power, increase in fuel consumption;

Speed \u200b\u200bsensor (installed on the gearbox housing) - a deterioration in the dynamic qualities of the car and an increase in fuel consumption are possible.
