The basic equipment of the LS sedan includes front power windows, ABS, two front airbags, power steering, CD / MP3 audio system with 4 speakers and an immobilizer. The difference between the first and second generation Aveo is quite tangible. The car has become longer, wider and taller, the wheelbase has grown from 2480 to 2525 mm. The increased dimensions not only added free space to the cabin, but also made the trunk more voluminous. Now its volume in the sedan is 502 liters, which is significantly more than in the previous generation. But the ground clearance is still small - only 150 mm. Of the other minor drawbacks, a long front overhang can be noted, so rubbing against the curbs should be done with caution. Front - MacPherson struts, rear - semi-independent torsion beam, and the increased overall stiffness of the suspension provides a close to sporty driving character. Front brakes - ventilated disc, rear - classic, drum type. The steering is equipped with an electric booster, while the steering wheel is quite sharp and informative.

The use of the new international "opelev" platform had a significant impact on improving security. Compared to the previous generation, which did not show itself well in crash tests, the "second" Aveo sedan was able to receive the highest five-star rating in the EuroNCAP standings. To understand the characteristics of a car, it is worth considering separately each of its components.

Engine.

Initially, the manufacturer installed two types of engine on Chevrolet Aveo cars - 1.2 and 1.4 liters.

A distinctive feature of both power units is the presence of a timing belt drive.

Another nuance is the presence of an identical crank group. The main difference is only in the number of valves per cylinder.

The 1.2-liter engine is equipped with a smaller camshaft and eight valves. The engine that is more powerful (1.4 liters) is equipped with two camshafts and 16 valves.

Practice has shown that the oil change interval (15 thousand kilometers) is overestimated, therefore, excessive wear of the camshaft is observed in 1.2-liter engines.

Such problems manifest themselves after 60-100,000 mileage. A malfunction often leads to jamming of the device and the need to replace the cylinder head.

The first symptoms of a breakdown are the appearance of "clatter", as in diesel engines. The reason is the lack of oil in some engine components.

To solve the problem, you will have to change the camshaft in conjunction with the rockers, dismantle the cylinder head, clean and drill the jet, providing it with a larger size.

In order to avoid the described problem, the interval for replacing the lubricating composition in the engine should be reduced to 10 thousand kilometers.

After 80-120 thousand mileage, there is a high risk of a crankcase ventilation valve wedge, which causes the lubricating composition to be squeezed out of the engine along with the oil dipstick.

After 120-140,000, be prepared to change the front crankshaft oil seal due to oil leaks.

In engines with a volume of 1.4 liters, after a long run, carbon deposits form on the intake valves, which leads to "triple formation", but since 2008 the developers have managed to eradicate this problem. In the period from 80 to 110 thousand kilometers, an oil leak may occur.

On a car with automatic gas control of phases and in motors with a chain drive, after 30-60 thousand km, an uncharacteristic "rumble" often occurs after the power unit is installed, as well as the appearance of a "diesel clatter" after the temperature rises.

Such a problem often indicates a breakdown of the camshaft gear. If the problem is not noticed in time, then there is a high risk of extrusion of the distribution gear oil seals, a decrease in the oil level and splashing of the timing belt.

The result is often deplorable - belt slip and valve deformation.

After 50-100 thousand mileage, as a rule, the release bearing changes, and after 120-150,000 - the clutch.

Operational practice has shown that the Chevrolet Aveo with a power unit volume of 1.5 liters is distinguished by the stability of operation on liquefied gas ().

Transmission.

After 80-130 thousand km, due to a decrease in the elasticity of the seals, oil may leak from the gearbox. Here the task of the car enthusiast is to timely notice the drop in the oil level. Otherwise, there is a high risk of rapid wear of the gears of neutral and 5th gear.

The appearance of an uncharacteristic "crunch" at the moment of turning on the 5th speed is precisely indicative of a lack of oil in the gearbox.

In the conditions of frequent trips around the city, the transmission wears out after 60-90 thousand mileage, which is expressed in an insufficiently clear inclusion of speeds.

If we compare two automatic transmission boxes and "mechanics", then the first is more reliable, but after 40-100 thousand mileage there is a high risk of deterioration of the contact connection of the control solenoid switch.

Result - a problem with the choice of speed in the position of the selector lever "Park" (P). To avoid complications, periodic cleaning of the contacts is required.

Cooling system Chevrolet Aveo.

Operating experience has shown that in the range of 60-90 thousand mileage, difficulties arise with warming up the power unit due to a thermostat malfunction.

There is a risk of leakage or early opening of the valve to a larger circle, which does not allow the power unit to warm up normally in frost.

Due to the sinking of the valve after 50-80 thousand mileage, another unpleasant symptom arises - "prying" the cover of the expansion tank.

In the same range, problems often manifest themselves with the "sticking" of the fan motor brushes in the cooling system, as well as oxidation of the contact connections in the plug.

On the 2003-2007 Chevrolet Aveo, the fan housing is located in close proximity to the radiator, which often causes abrasion of the lower right part of the assembly after 50-70 thousand km.

To fix the problem, it is enough to perform two simple manipulations - cut the edges of the case and put washers in the mounting points of the fan.

In the period of 80-100 thousand km, the engine error lamp may light up (manifested against the background of a drop in the thrust of the power unit). Problems in operation are often caused by failure or contamination of the pump filter nets in the fuel system.

One of the weak points of the car is the suspension, which annoys motorists with extraneous "mumbling" in the front end.

To reduce the negative factor, it is enough to put more powerful supports on the A-pillars.

New bearings take care of 70-90 thousand mileage, and the front hub bearings (80-100).

The silent blocks on the rear lever "give up" and squeak after 60-70 thousand, while the front can withstand a longer period without replacement.

As for the silent blocks on the rear beam, here the resource varies in the aisles of 90-140 thousand mileage. Symptoms of the problem are loss of stability, extraneous squeaks and noises.

The brake pads on the front wheels should be replaced after 40-50 thousand, and brake discs - after 70-100.

Steering.

After 50-80 thousand km, the bushing of the toothed shaft may fail, which leads to the appearance of knocks in the steering rack.

After 90-100,000 there is a risk of leakage in the steering shaft of the upper section of the steering rack. The main sign is the oil under the driver's carpet.

In addition, in severe frosts, the power steering pump sometimes hums, which is eliminated by replacing the old lubricating composition.

As for the electrical, there are no big problems here. The main attention should be paid to the generator, in which, after 70-120 thousand km, the installation of new bearings is required.

Also, in the range of 70-80 thousand km, there is a breakdown of the headlight range control due to oxidation on the "minus" of the conductor and burnout of the diode in the clock circuit.

The body and interior of the Chevrolet Aveo.

As for the body, there are no problems here. The only thing that early models can damage the rear wheel arches.

The problem is solved by mounting mud flaps at the front, which are wider.

More resistant to corrosion. But for better protection, it is worthwhile to carry out additional treatment with an anti-corrosion compound and try to protect the car from damage.

The main disadvantage is the ease of deformation even at low pressure. Another drawback is the "sweating" of the headlights.

Salon Chevrolet Aveo.

It has become already, so the three passengers in the back are no longer so comfortable. In this case, the driver will touch the passenger with his elbow from the side.

There are a lot of complaints about the light interior, which makes the car more expressive, but at the same time has excessive soiling.

The T300 model replaced the equally well-known T250 model. For buyers in Russia, the new Chevrolet Aveo is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine. Since 2012, the assembly has been carried out at the Gorky Automobile Plant.

The weak points of the T300 are almost indistinguishable from those of its predecessor. The biggest problems arise with the chassis, power unit and interior.

They are worth considering in more detail.

Engine.

The following problems are typical here:

  • leaks in the valve gasket;
  • the appearance of problems with the pressure sensor;
  • excessive fuel consumption;
  • increased risk of leakage from the power steering hose;
  • high risk of problems with the oil pressure sensor.

The operating experience of the Chevrolet Aveo showed that fuel consumption remained unchanged (that is, high).

Even the installation of more advanced power units from Opel did not help. So, the average consumption of gasoline on 1.6 liter engines with manual transmission is 10-11 liters per “hundred”.

If the car is equipped with "automatic", then "gluttony" is even higher.

The line of motors itself is quite reliable, but vibrations may occur due to malfunctions of the oxygen sensor. After 30 thousand mileage, there is a high risk of oil squeezing out of the valve cover. After 10-15 thousand km, the power steering tube may leak. In the first cold weather, there is a risk of problems with the ignition module.

Running system.

If you cite the weaknesses of the T300 chassis, then it is worth highlighting:

  • small resource of stabilizer struts;
  • weak struts on the rear axle;
  • the need for frequent replacement of hub bearings.

The peculiarity of the T300 suspension is a small ground clearance, which can be increased by installing wheels with a large diameter.

At the same time, it is worth noting the greater rigidity of the chassis and the minimum stroke of the shock absorbers for rebound. This feature is a plus for handling, but a minus for comfort.

For this reason, the stabilizers quickly fail, the rapid appearance of "links" knocks is possible.

Often the hub bearing does not withstand the load. Rear struts are also considered weak, because they require replacement after 40-50 thousand mileage.

T300 gearbox.

As for the gearbox, here users note the rapid wear of the 1st and 2nd speed synchronizers under severe operating conditions.

The emergence of problems is possible after 20,000. As for the "machine", there are almost no complaints.

There are also a number of remarks regarding the salon that are worth mentioning:

  • insufficient sound insulation;
  • the appearance over the years of crickets and squeaks;
  • scratching plastic.

All other features of the T300 (including the design) are not satisfactory and are at a high level.

Cooling system.

As for the cooling of the power unit, here the owners will have to face a thermostat malfunction after 30-60 thousand mileage.

Either it fails, or the temperature sensor installed in the casing of the said device breaks down.

Electrical part.

Rarely, but sometimes after 40 thousand kilometers, the seat heating wiring burns out.

Around the same place, there may be problems with the wiring that feeds the heated mirrors.

The T300 brake system is reliable, but there is still one big problem - the rumble of the brake calipers.

It so happened that from the factory the guides have a smaller circumference, which leads to the appearance of noise.

The elimination of the problem is to install the fixing brackets. In this case, guides and brackets, as a rule, come in a common set.

Plus, the official dealer fixes this problem free of charge (under warranty).

The body part and its coating are not satisfactory. The car covers a long distance without visible damage and is resistant to rust.

But there is still a weak point - the luggage compartment lid, which, due to movement on uneven roads, gets loose, and the sealing rubber bands fail.

The intermediate result for the T300 is quite optimistic. The car has weaknesses and most of the problems came from its predecessor.

The downside is that new troubles have also manifested themselves, which "come out" during the active operation of the machine.

For this reason, it is worth regularly monitoring the car and going through MOT. At the same time, in general, we can safely say that the car is worth the money spent.

The premiere of the Chevrolet Aveo 2010 model year took place in October 2010 at the Paris Motor Show. The production of this representative of the family of B segment subcompact cars, with sedan bodies and a five-door hatchback on the GM Gamma platform, type T300 of the second generation, began in May 2011 in South Korea, the USA, under the name Sonic, and China (Yuntai). The body of the Chevrolet Aveo car is load-bearing, all-metal, welded structure with hinged front fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid (tailgate). Windshield and rear glass (tailgate glass) glued in. The Aveo 2 looks beautiful, rides right, but it's better not to rely on special dynamics or refined handling.

Many people associate Chevrolet with the Daewoo brand. And it is right. The first generation Chevrolet Aveo has more in common with the Korean automaker than with the American GM. The car turned out to be unattractive, without any significant advantages. In 2011, its successor debuted with the designation T300. The model turned out to be more interesting and more successful.

Beautiful design is the first thing that prompts you to buy. Chevrolet used motorcycle motifs. For example, the twin round headlights are not covered with plastic glazing. The same features can be seen in the tail lights of the hatchback. Motorcycle accents are present on the inside as well. The instrument cluster, which consists of a massive tachometer and a small electronic speed indicator, looks exactly like a sports bike. Above and below the display are lined up in a row of holes, in each of which there is a signal light. It should be noted that this is not a bad solution. It's hard to find such a good and clear set of pointers in any other car.

Modern forms, intuitive control. There are several practical places for storing small items on the front panel.

In general, the interior of the Chevrolet Aveo T300 makes only a positive impression. The range of adjustment of the driver's seat and steering wheel is so wide that it is easy to find a comfortable position. There is enough space inside for four people. The hatchback trunk is only 290 liters, but the sedan holds 500 liters. The Aveo sedan will do the job of a small family car.
