Of course, the price is different for the Geely Emgrand EC7 configuration, its range in 2014 is from 422,000 to 572,000 thousand rubles, although the price actually depends largely on dealers. In fact - the car works like new (although the month, of course, is not yet the deadline), consumes the same amount of gasoline as indicated in the passport data. It behaves well on the road, it is well controlled and does not "play". The car has a very powerful engine, it does not itself and does not let noise into the cabin - sound insulation is at a height. A couple of times I stopped by with my family for shopping - I was able to fully appreciate the huge volume of the trunk, it is enough for literally everything.
The car is very comfortable, it is a pleasure to drive it. The interior is made of black leather, excellent climate control. I do not know about security, I really hope that you will not have to check, but since everything else is quite consistent with what the developers and distributors unanimously stated, then the level of protection, I think, will be at its best.

Having set out to buy a car, I was looking for something worth between 400 and 800 thousand rubles. Of course, buying a car of the "European" level for only 450 thousand rubles, I could not believe everything that the distributor was saying. However, having already sat behind the wheel and left for the first time on the road, I realized that the car could cost a lot of money.
I have been driving for more than a year, the mileage is more than ten thousand kilometers, and (imagine!) No comments! It runs perfectly, turns passes like on rails, gasoline, contrary to my expectations, does not consume too much. Knowing our roads, one would expect rapid wear of the suspension, but, apparently, the developers have foreseen this feature as well. In general, the car is very comfortable, it is not hot in summer and not cold in winter - an excellent choice at a low cost, I recommend it to everyone!

Exactly a year ago - in the middle of September 2017 - it was that the new Belgi plant began mass production of cars. Then it was said that the design capacity of the enterprise near Borisov will be 60 thousand cars per year at the first stage. Now the plans and strategy of the company have slightly adjusted - for the entire 2018, the plant will produce about 9 thousand cars. At the same time, the management of "Belji" assures that the demand at this stage exceeds the capabilities of the enterprise. The conveyor launches one car every ten minutes. In other words, about fifty cars are assembled in one shift. In the future, they intend to increase this figure to 120. An Onliner.by correspondent visited the Belji plant and saw how Belarusian crossovers and sedans are assembled.

Three workshops

Those who have traveled by car between Zhodino and Borisov over the past year could not help but notice a huge enterprise located right next to the highway. You can get to the plant's territory only through the checkpoint, and moving around the courtyards is allowed only when accompanied by Belgi employees. These are the standard rules of any large enterprise. Visitors are transported between workshops by bus or service "Atlas". It can be seen that the plant is new - everywhere there is a neat lawn, clean walls, everything inside shines like a cat's eyes.

Unlike the old Belgi plant and the Unison plant, machines are manufactured here by small-knot assembly. That is, this is a full-fledged production of passenger cars, when components are supplied to the conveyor, and at the finish line a finished car is obtained. Of course, plastic parts, wires and other elements are not produced here - they are supplied from third-party companies.

Localization is currently over 50%. Everything is as promised. At this stage, the plant does not have a stamping shop. This is perhaps the most significant difference between Belji and such enterprises as, for example, Volkswagen RUS in Kaluga. All body elements arrive to Borisov region from China by sea (via Klaipeda). Experts say that with the current production volumes, it is impractical to have your own stamping. After increasing the output, such a workshop will appear - this is already being worked out. In the meantime, the plant includes three large shops: welding, painting and assembly.

Welding workshop

This is where the history of any Belarusian-made Geely begins. Individual body parts are supplied to the workshop, and first of all, the factory workers manually assemble the engine compartment and the floor of the future car. At this stage, the product receives a VIN number. At this point, it has already been determined what color the car will be, in what configuration and with what engine. Then the workpiece enters a long corridor consisting of 26 robots.

The welding shop is the most automated at the plant. People here perform a minimum of functions, including quality control and welding parts in places where the robot cannot reach. During one shift, Belji employees check two finished bodies (randomly selected at the final stage of welding). Each takes four hours - during this time, a specialist examines thousands of welding points and measures the geometry of the product. For this process, a separate room has been allocated at the plant, more like a laboratory.

The body moves through the welding shop in automatic mode. The sensors of each of the robots read information about the model, whose frame arrived at the site. The data is transferred to a metal "welding arm", which, like dancing a waltz, applies dots that firmly hold the body parts together. There are about 200 such points for each robot. At the end of the automated line, the product takes on the recognizable shape of a car.













Next is the adjustment line, where the welding shop staff fit the doors, hood and trunk lid on the Geely. Clearances and differences in parts are also checked here. The shop employs 75 people at the same time, including the head and control specialists. There is no need to reconfigure robots - they are programmed to weld three different bodies and automatically change attachment points depending on which model they are working with.

Painting workshop

Visitors are not allowed into the paint shop. This rule is also not new - at all car factories we have visited, the paint shop is isolated from prying eyes. The reason is the observance of sterile cleanliness in the room. Not a single speck of dust should get on the body before painting. Many people are concerned about the issue of corrosion resistance. The Atlas crossover, for example, has a fully galvanized body. Considering that it goes to us in disassembled form by sea for three months, the Chinese additionally isolate the details from interaction with the environment. Before delivery, each element is treated with a preservative oil and insulated with a special film. The body is painted as a whole, that is, with attached parts. Further, the story of the still unassembled Geely continues in the buffer storage warehouse, where up to 72 bodies dries after painting.















Assembly shop

This workshop does not look as futuristic and impressive as the welding one. Here, almost all of the work is done by hand. Only one process is automated - the application of glue to the windshield contour. A human could not perform this scrupulous work with maximum precision. The rest is done by the hands of hard workers. More than two hundred employees are involved here. The assembly shop includes three lines: interior, chassis and final.

The salon is completely assembled on the "interior" line. They put a dashboard, seats, a central tunnel, etc. At the same time, there are sections for assembling large elements. For example, the dashboard comes to the factory in the form of many parts. At one of the sites, people assemble the element and only then transfer the finished panel to the interior line. It's the same story with the doors, center tunnel, front console, transmission, etc. For all these elements, sub-assembly areas are highlighted. Later, the large parts already assembled are sent to the main assembly lines and installed on the vehicle.

On the chassis line, the car receives all the technical stuffing: a subframe with an engine, an axle, all pipes, security systems (ABS, ESP) and so on. In fact, this is where the future Geely gets a "heart", and the echo finally stops walking under the hood of the car. From this section, the model enters the final line.

The final assembly line includes the installation of doors, the cladding of which is installed in a different, smaller area. The seats and the remaining interior parts are also delivered here. Final line employees fill the car with technical fluids. The car receives the wheels and is sent to the test line. There he is waiting for a camber-toe stand, a side slip test, a test of dynamic characteristics.








During our visit to the assembly shop, a trolley with Czech-made Varta batteries was discovered. At the same time, the Belarusian battery "Zubr" is installed on the commercial vehicles. As it turned out, the plant is now undergoing commissioning production of Atlas with a 1.8 turbo engine and a Varta battery is being installed on the crossover for tests. When the car goes on sale, it will be equipped with a domestic battery. Engines for all three Geely models are produced in Borisov at the plant where the pre-styling Emgrand X7 was previously assembled in a large unit. The updated X-Seven, together with the Atlas and the Emgrand 7 sedan, is being produced at the new plant. "Chetyrekhdverka" is already on sale in Russia, and it will reach Belarusian buyers in November.

Statistics and plans

According to rough estimates, today two cars from the Belji plant go to Russia, one to the Belarusian market. Later, it is planned to change this ratio: four in the Russian Federation, one for us. In recent months in Belarus, 80% of Geely buyers were individuals, 20% - organizations. The manufacturer believes that the main competitors of the new Emgrand X7 model are Renault Duster, Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Creta. What are the competitive advantages of the "Chinese" of the Belarusian assembly?

- Among the competitive advantages of our Geely is the appearance. Look at the Emgrand X7, a modern, attractive vehicle with a comfortable and spacious interior. You also need to take into account the patriotism of our clients. After all, this is a car completely assembled in Belarus. For example, about the same number of people live in Sweden as in our country. Moreover, 40 thousand Volvo cars are sold there every year. It is clear that Belgi is younger than Volvo, and we have to wait another 20 years for such figures, but we are actively working to improve our products and currently the demand for our cars exceeds the capabilities of the plant.- Gennady Svidersky, the general director of Belji, said.

Now the company produces three different models and does not intend to add a fourth. In order to begin production of the stylish SX11 crossover, the company will need to remove one of the current models. And there are such plans for the future. In the meantime, the main goal is to increase production. This will happen smoothly as new employees are trained and supplies of components increase.

Is one of the most popular Chinese cars in Russia: since 2012, about 32 thousand sedans and hatchbacks have been sold. However, two years ago, an updated model appeared in China - and only now it reached Russian car dealerships under the "abbreviated" name Geely Emgrand 7. This delay is associated with a change in the production site: before the cars were produced under a contract at the Circassian Derways plant (with welding and painting bodies), and the updated versions are assembled at the Belgi enterprise in the Belarusian Borisov (so far from large-unit vehicle kits). Crossovers are also produced there. The hatchback became the victim of the "move" (it accounted for 10% of the demand) - from now on, the passenger Emgrand 7 in Russia will be sold only with a sedan body.

Restyling did not change the car much: the new bumpers, radiator grille and lighting equipment are very similar to the previous ones, although one unusual feature still appeared in the exterior - these are the zigzags of the side lights in the headlight units. There is a similar evolution in the cabin: the front panel seems to be different, but very much like the old one. However, the steering wheel, instruments, climate control unit and even the gear lever are now new.

The upgraded motors have slightly increased the recoil and now meet the Euro-5 standards. The base "four" 1.5 develops 106 hp. and 140 Nm (before it was 98 hp and 126 Nm), and the engine performance 1.8 - 129 hp. and 170 Nm instead of 126 hp. and 162 Nm. As before, both engines are combined with a five-speed "mechanics", and for versions with a 1.8 engine, a V-belt Punch variator is offered. Finally, the suspension and steering settings have been changed, and it still features the old-school power steering.

Now about the sad: Emgrand has risen in price. Compared with the pre-reform cars produced in 2015 - by 130-150 thousand rubles! This can be partially justified by the fact that from now on all Emgrands are equipped with a stabilization system, heated front seats, a keyless entry system and LED running lights - before, nothing of this was even in the list of options. A basic sedan with a 1.5 engine, two airbags, air conditioning and power windows is estimated at 639 thousand rubles. The Comfort package adds rear parking sensors, a USB audio system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and alloy wheels. Car company Geely Holding Corporation housed a huge industrial complex here. It includes two car assembly plants, the production of engines and gearboxes, on which they work 3600 human. The average salary in the enterprise is about 3000 RMB (about $ 440), although it depends on qualifications and length of service.

The first assembly plant produces a complete cycle of one model - SC2... The press shop is equipped with dozens of presses, where workers manually control the stamping of body parts. In the same room there is a welding shop, where the body is joined by welding on stocks with manual "pliers" - automatic welding machines. Further, the body (doors separately) is sent to the painting shop, and then to the assembly. Manual labor predominates here as well.
