Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant "ZAZ. Car
characteristics, models, history and reviews New zaz

The date of establishment of the plant is considered to be 1863, when the Mennonite Abraham Yakovlevich Koop opened workshops for the production of straw cutters and iron parts for windmills in the Shenwiese colony. Soon, these workshops were transformed into an agricultural machinery plant, producing reapers, threshers, bookers and plows.

In 1908, an enterprise was founded, which later turned into the Melitopol Motor Plant (MeMZ). Since 1960, MeMZ began supplying its engines to ZAZ. Since 1975, MeMZ has become part of the AvtoZAZ production association. Now it is one of the structural elements of ZAZ CJSC.

In 1923, the former Abraham Koop plant was renamed into Kommunar. However, the direction of activity has been preserved, taking into account the emergence of new agricultural equipment - tractors, combine harvesters and other agricultural equipment. The plant produced the first Soviet combine harvester Kommunar.

In 1961 the plant was renamed into Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. The plant was engaged in the production of a single car - ZAZ-965, which went down in history as the "Humpbacked Zaporozhets".

In 1970, the updated Zaporozhets ZAZ-966 entered the assembly line, which was radically different from its predecessor. In total (from 1960 to 1994) 3,422,444 Zaporozhets vehicles and air-cooled engines manufactured by MeMZ were manufactured in Zaporozhye.

In 1979, the ZAZ-968M was launched into mass production.

In 1986, under a contract with the Italian "factory of factories" Comau, a new production complex was created, which included: a body welding shop, a painting shop, an assembly shop.

In 1987, the production of ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" cars began - the first cars with a liquid-cooled engine produced by ZAZ.

In 1994, on July 1, the production of ZAZ-968M, the last rear-engined ZAZ car, ended.

ZAZ after the collapse of the USSR

In the mid-1990s, the difficult financial situation at the plant was aggravated by the fact that all foreign exchange earnings had to be handed over to the state, which entailed a thorough washout of working capital. To keep the plant afloat, the director started looking for an investor among the leaders of the global automotive industry. First Peugeot, then FIAT, and in 1995, General Motors came into view. Even the first vice president of General Motors flew to the capital of Ukraine for negotiations. However, the heads of the Ministry of Industrial Policy settled on the option of creating a joint venture with the Daewoo concern, with an authorized capital of $ 150 million. Director Stepan Kravchun, who disagreed with this, wrote a letter of resignation.

In 1998, the plant began cooperation with the Daewoo corporation, in connection with which, a joint Ukrainian-Korean enterprise with foreign investment AvtoZAZ-Daewoo was created, to which all the assets of AvtoZAZ were transferred. The assembly of new cars begins. A. N. Sotnikov appointed General Director of JV "AvtoZAZ - Daewoo"
The head plant has organized the production of a brand new car ZAZ-1102 "Tavria-Nova". Works on preparation of production have been completed at KhRP "IZAA" and SKD assembly of Daewoo cars: Daewoo Lanos, Daewoo Nubira, Daewoo Leganza has begun.
In 1999, the production of ZAZ-1103 "Slavuta" (with a "five-door liftback" body), created on the basis of the "Tavria" chassis and with the participation of its body panels, began. Daewoo took part in the development.

New models of the Tavrichesky series have been developed, among them ZAZ-1105 "Dana" (with a "five-door station wagon" body), which was soon replaced in mass production by ZAZ-1103 "Slavuta".

Various pickup models are produced based on the 11055 index.
In 2003 the plant changes its name and turns into a closed joint stock company with foreign investment Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant.

In 2004 the plant underwent a complete renovation of the means of production. The production facilities of the head plant begin production of AvtoVAZ (VAZ-21093 and VAZ-21099), GM-DAT (Lanos (T-150)), Opel Astra G (OTGF69-40 and OTGF69-60) vehicles.
In 2005, the production facilities for the production of I-VAN buses based on the chassis of the TATA car were prepared at the IZAA KhRP.
For the ZAZ-Sens model, MeMZ developed a 1.4-liter engine based on the previous 1.3-liter one. Subsequently, the car was renamed "Lanos 1.4".

In 2006 ZAZ CJSC confirms the compliance of its own quality management system with the international standard ISO 9001: 2000. The products of ZAZ CJSC meet the requirements of Euro 2. The production of semitrailers НХ2210 for transportation of passenger cars has been mastered. In the same year, a range of Chinese passenger cars “Chery” was mastered at the IZAA plant.

In 2007, a localization program for the production of Daewoo Lanos was launched, the base model was restyled, which was named "ZAZ Lanos" (ZAZ Lanos T-150). The production of a van based on it was developed and started.
On September 19, 2008, the three-door Tavria was removed from the assembly line.

The technical re-equipment of the press production was carried out. The Voronezh automatic press line was modernized. Siemens Simatic S7-300 controllers were installed on the presses, instead of the old Simatic S5, which made it possible to equip the line with ABB robots to carry out the operations of loading blanks into a die and unloading from a die. A new automatic press line of the Italian company “AIDA S.r.l.” was installed, also equipped with robots from ABB. The stamping of large units of the T-100 and T-150 Lanos vehicles began in the plant's press shop.

In 2009, the plant continued to manufacture models based on Daewoo Lanos using Ukrainian components (the degree of localization of the version with a 1.5 engine is more than 50%, for engines 1.3 and 1.4 it is even higher): ZAZ Lanos Hatchback, ZAZ Sens and "ZAZ Chance"; Tavricheskiy range models: ZAZ-1105 "Slavuta" and a pickup; assembles and manufactures Chevrolet, Chery and VAZ cars (VAZ-210934-20 and VAZ-210994-20). Cooperation was started with Kia Motors on the assembly of Kia cee’d (five-door KIA Cee’d, three-door sports hatchback) and Kia Sportage, but the KIA model did not go into serial production.

In May 2009, the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant won an international tender for the supply of cars for veterans and disabled people of Azerbaijan. On June 4, a contract was signed for the supply of 500 vehicles. On July 29, Zaporozhye Automobile Plant began shipping the first batch of products.

In 2009, a new robotic metallization section was commissioned in the coating metallization workshop.
On September 10, 2009, a severe fire broke out at the plant's paint and varnish warehouse, as a result of which three employees of the company were hospitalized with burns of varying severity.

Since December 2010, the production of a new ZAZ Forza car similar to Chery A13 has begun.
Since 2011, production facilities for the production of vehicles of the T-25X project (T-250NB, T-255HB, T-259), manufactured in 2006 by GM-DAT for the Warsaw FSO plant, have been commissioned at the head plant. The mass release of new models is scheduled from December 2011.
In April 2011, the form of a joint stock company is changed to a public joint stock company.

In January 2011, Slavuta (ZAZ-1103) and Tavria-pickup (ZAZ-110557) cars were discontinued, taking into account the unprofitability due to reduced demand.

On March 13, 2012, sales of the new ZAZ Vida model began in Ukraine. In September 2012, ZAZ planned to start selling the model in Russia.

There are several versions about the year of foundation of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. The factory workers themselves are accustomed to consider the date of creation of the plant in 1863, when the Dutchman Abraham Coop created a plant for the production of agricultural machinery. Another option is 1908, when the Melitopol Motor Plant (MeMZ) was founded, which in 1960 began to supply its engines to ZAZ. Another date is 1923, when the former plant of Abraham Koop was renamed into Kommunar. However, the direction of the enterprise's activity remained until 1960 - the production of agricultural machinery.

And so, probably, until now the Kommunar plant would have been producing hay-mowers and harrows, if one day Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev hadn’t got the idea to overtake the United States in terms of the number of cars per capita. True, unlike America, our car (like an apartment) should be small. Well, Khrushchev didn't like big things!

And the choice fell on the "Fiat" novelty FIAT-600. Initially, the car was planned to be assembled at the MOSKVICH plant and that is why the MZMA Design Bureau took over the development of the car, which together with the NAMI Automobile Institute developed the so-called Moskvich-444, which was later renamed Moskvich-560. But by the decision of the board of the State Planning Committee in connection with the congestion of the MOSKVICH plant, it was decided to start production at the Kommunar plant in Zaporozhye.

And on November 22, 1960, the enterprise released the first batch of "ZAZ-965" popularly called "Humpbacked" for its original body shape.

Almost immediately after the release of the "hunchback" design bureau of ZAZ began to develop a new car "ZAZ-966", which has a completely new body.

However, its production was delayed by the union leadership, possibly for economic reasons: putting a new model on the assembly line just a year after the previous one was released was considered wasteful. Therefore, "ZAZ-966" was published only six years later.

It was a typical 'rectangular' sedan of the 1960s, featuring side air intakes. The people immediately called them "ears", and the car itself "eared". So the era of ZAZ "hunchback" was replaced by a long era of his even more anecdotal "eared" heir.

Its engine was also located at the rear. At first it was the 30-strong MeMZ-966A, which was installed on the latest modifications of its "humped" predecessor. Then the 40-strong MeMZ-966V appeared, which made it possible to accelerate the car to a speed of 120 km / h on a straight track. True, in practice, not everyone achieved it, and fines for speeding by the Zaporozhets were really so rare that they were regarded as an anecdote.

The model underwent a more serious alteration in 1979-1980. "ZAZ-968M" became the last domestic car with an engine located in the rear compartment - but also the longest-lived, since it was produced until 1994. Having lost its "ears", replaced by simple grilles, the car received the nickname "soap dish" - for its already outdated and too simple design. But more powerful engines were subsequently manufactured for it: MeMZ-968GE (45 hp) and MeMZ-968BE (50 hp).

Perhaps further modernization of the model would have allowed to create something interesting, but in the 1990s the opinion prevailed that the Zaporozhians were a disgrace to the Ukrainian car industry. And the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant concentrated on the production of "TAVRIA".

In November 1963, the 29-year-old engineer Vladimir Steshenko brought the idea of creating a front-wheel drive minicar to ZAZ. The new chief designer "infected" her first design bureau, and then the leadership of the entire association. Steshenko himself was imbued with the idea of front-wheel drive after meeting the famous Mini. The Ukrainian designer was especially impressed by the fact that this modest "box" Mini, exclusively due to the front-wheel drive, as well as the engine deployed across and shifted forward, utterly defeated all competitors in the 1962 rally. And including the Porsche 911, Fiat Abarth 600 and Volkswagen 1200L.

By 1976, two more prototypes were created - a sedan with front-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive hatchback. These two options formed the basis of "Perspektiva" (this is how the TAVRIA car was called at that time in the design bureau). In 1980, the creation of the car was completed and it took 7 long years to bring the design idea to life. And only in 1988 the full production of this car was started. On the basis of the developed "TAVRIA" a car in the body of a sedan was created, which received the name "SLAVUTA".

Experimental developments of ZAZ that were not put into mass production deserve a separate word.

In 1961, under the leadership of Yu.N. Sorochkin, in parallel with the development of the 966th machine, an experimental ZAZ-970 truck with a carrying capacity of 350 kg was designed.

In fact, the car was a kind of search layout work. The car was nicknamed "Sharpener" by the factory workers and, unlike the subsequent cars of the 970th family, had a small hood.

In 1962, along with the ZAZ-970B van, a six-seater minibus (according to the current classification - minivan) ZAZ-970V was created. The seats of the second and third rows were designed folding, so the car was, in fact, a cargo-passenger - with the two rear seats folded, it could carry 175 kg of cargo, and with two rows of seats folded, 350 kg of cargo.

Like the ZAZ-970B van, the engine protruded into the cabin with a noticeable "hump", which is why the two third-row seats were separate and placed at a noticeable distance from each other - between them there was a service hatch for access to the engine. Unlike a van, a ventilation hatch in the roof was provided in the minibus, and there was only one door for entering and exiting passengers - on the starboard side.

At the end of the 70s of the twentieth century, ZAZ was considered as one of the options for expanding the model range produced at that time - the Taxi project. An in-house competition was announced for the best car of this type.

One of the options-winners of the competition was a car on the units of a promising "Tavria" and its length did not exceed 3.5 meters. The driver's location is noteworthy - above the left front wheel, while the engine was supposed to be placed to the right of it.

During 1990-1992, an unusual modification of the base ZAZ-968M was produced - the ZAZ-968MP pickup.

It should be noted right away that pickups of a similar design were produced by ZAZ, like any car plant, always for its own internal plant needs (a typical example is ZAZ-965P). However, the ZAZ-968MP that got into the series is nothing more than an attempt by the plant to offer the market its own in-plant pickup in the early 90s of the twentieth century as a delivery vehicle.

In fact, the ZAZ-968MP was made according to the slipway-bypass technology - the rear of the cab was cut off from the rejected or even conditioned (depending on the demand for pickups in a particular period) ZAZ-968M body, and the rear wall with a window was welded behind the front seats. The rear seat was not placed, the resulting niche was the cargo compartment.

But the experience was unsuccessful and after the reduction in production of this car, the ZAZ-968M was also discontinued.

Another global change in Zaporozhye took place in 1998, when a Ukrainian-Korean joint venture with foreign investment was registered in the form of CJSC AvtoZAZ-DEU. and large-scale assembly of Daewoo Lanos, Daewoo Nubira and Daewoo Leganza cars began - the first models of the Korean company created by its own specialists.

The history of the LANOS car (supplied to Russia under the CHANCE brand) is very interesting. This front-wheel drive car, designed by ItalDesign, was first shown back in 1997. In 2002, Daewoo showed a new model called Kalos (in Russia it changed its name, which was incongruous for the Russian ear, to AVEO), but Lanos continued to exist! In 1998, the production of this car was launched in Poland and Ukraine.

And now, for almost 10 years, this car has been one of the best-selling foreign cars in Russia, having proven itself as a workhorse for taxi fleets, courier services, traffic police, and enterprises that use it as a "traveling" car.

In 2003, the plant in Zaporozhye again changed its form of ownership and became a closed joint-stock company with foreign investment Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant. Now 50% of the enterprise belongs to UkrAvto and another 50% is owned by the Swiss company Hirsch & Cie.

Since 2004, in addition to the ZAZ and Daewoo models, the full-scale production of VAZ-2107, 21093 and 21099 cars has been mastered directly at the Zaporozhye plant, which are still being produced.

An interesting project in the development of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant was the Opel project.

On March 25, 2003 in Kiev, a cooperation agreement was signed between Ukravto, ZAZ CJSC and Adam Opel AG. According to the contract, the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant in the spring of 2003 began assembling Opel cars of the Vectra, Astra, and Korsa models from vehicle kits imported to Ukraine.

According to the admissions of the auto plants themselves, cooperation with the German auto concern taught the plant workers in German a clear approach to the quality of assembled cars. And, despite the fact that at the moment this cooperation has already been terminated for reasons of economic efficiency, the car manufacturers are still using the quality system, which they have mastered together with German partners.

In 2009, the Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant started producing cars of the KIA concern at its facilities. Together with Korean partners at the facilities of ZAZ CJSC, 2 models of the Korean concern are currently being produced, these are KIA Cee "d and KIA Sportage.

But 2010 may become another major milestone in the history of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. In December 2010, a new model was delivered to the main conveyor of ZAZ, which will replace the most popular LANOS (in the Russian Federation since 2009 it has been presented as CHANCE).

On the basis of the Chinese Chery A-13, the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant began to produce cars under its own brand ZAZ-FORZA.

Automobile plants already had experience in assembling cars from China, in 2006 at the plant in Ilyichevsk, which is part of ZAZ CJSC, “pilot” lots of Chinese cars were assembled.

And in December 2010, a full-fledged assembly of a new car started on the ZAZ conveyor. It will be supplied not only to the domestic market of Ukraine, but also to the Russian Federation. Base, Comfort, Luxury versions will be presented in sedan and hatchback bodies. At the moment, the cars are undergoing certification tests at the test site in Dmitrov, near Moscow, and in mid-2011 they will already appear at dealerships.

The text of the article and photographs are provided by A.O. - the head of the marketing department of the car showroom "", the official dealer of CJSC.

Zaz Chance is a front-wheel drive budget car. It is produced by the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant (ZAZ). The choice of buyers is provided in the sedan and hatchback versions. The car received this name for the Russian consumer. It is known to Ukrainian buyers as ZAZ Lanos. The car is also popular as the Chevrolet Lanos and Daewoo Lanos. At home, in Ukraine, Lanos has been the undisputed leader in sales for the past five years. The history of the model dates back to 1997. The entire ZAZ model range.

Appearance

Since 2009, the ZAZ Chance model has become available to Russians. Over the years, the car hasn't undergone major changes. If we take modern standards, then, of course, Chance's appearance is a bit boring. The model has received rounded body shapes that converge in style with a drop-like head and tail lights.

The exterior has stepped forward, making the ZAZ a more modern car. Solid metal body, bearing type. Looks pretty and the fit of the body parts and panels is good. The 17 mm ground clearance makes it easy to "swallow" light pits and potholes. The set includes small wheels R13-R14.

Interior

ZAZ Chance purchased slightly different chairs. The seats now have lateral support. But the steering wheel still does not have any adjustments either in reach or in height. Objectively speaking, there is not much free space in the car and therefore tall people may not be very comfortable both behind the wheel and on the passenger seats.

The entire front panel is made of hard plastic, as are the front cards. The panel is poured from a monolithic piece, which discards all sorts of creaks that are absent even on a used car. In the basic version, the mirrors are manually adjustable and there are no power windows. Going to the rear seats, you can see that it is cramped here both in height and in the knees.

But two people of average height and size will feel quite comfortable. The driver's seat is not adjustable in height, but only in length. The governing bodies got their logical location. Pleased with the additional air ducts for the rear passengers, which undoubtedly makes him a compliment.

Although the trunk is not one of the largest in the class, such as, for example,

ZAZ (Zaporozhye Automobile Plant) is a leading enterprise in the automotive industry in Ukraine. The enterprise, founded back in 1898, still pleases us with new ZAZ model lines.

In 1964, after the end of the war, and the protracted post-war period, it launches its best car with the patriotic and characteristic name "Zaporozhets" on the assembly line. In 1980, the last of all the Zaporozhtsev modifications, the 968M model, was presented.

The ZAZ car is becoming the most affordable car for the entire Soviet population. The Zaporozhets will be produced almost until the end of 1994, which will become legendary, since not a single car in Ukraine will be produced and sold for so long.

In 1970, Zaporozhye engineers and automotive designers began a new project. The creation of the Tavria model began. It took the designers of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant seven whole years to create this model range, since each time the prototype of the car had a lot of flaws. But already in 1978 the car was put into production and sale. And in 1988, the Tavria model was put on conveyor production.

Forza is a new, improved version of its predecessor Chery A13 liftback. This model was produced to replace the old 1103 Slavuta car. The car was shown for the first time at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant in 2012.

The car design was developed and put into production by one of the best Italian designers collaborating with ZAZ. The Forz model offers us in three different trim levels. The production of components for this car is divided between Ukraine and its automotive partner China. China manufactures the outer part, that is, the body. And Ukraine produces the entire interior, that is, the salon. The production of engines for Forz takes place at a plant in Melitopol, Ukraine.

Lanos T150 is a B-class sedan with a manual transmission, an elegant and dynamic car, which is produced at ZAZ. It is a reliable, comfortable car that has everything you could possibly need. It is small, but at the same time very roomy, comfortable and quite functional. Lanos T150 will require minimum control complexity from you, the car is very easy to operate. Lanos T150 is a good solution and choice for those who want to buy a reliable, safe car with excellent driving characteristics.

If you decide to buy it, it is worth saying that in the Russian automotive market the Lanos T150 model is sold under the Chevrolet Lanos and Chance brands.

Slavuta - this is a car created by joint cooperation of Ukrainian and Korean production, which is a "family" car. The car combines all the necessary qualities of a good family car. This, of course, is safety, reliability, quality, ease of use and excellent driving performance. Since Slavuta is released with five doors, the boarding of passengers is very free, as well as access to the luggage compartment of the car. The Slavuta model has large luggage racks for its model range, which is very pleasing to the motorists of the domestic auto industry. The interior of your car will be made using the best polymer metals, and the color scheme of the interior evokes a feeling of home coziness and comfort. Everything you need for a good trip. Slavuta is the best choice for those who value compactness, efficiency, comfort and safety.

(PJSC "ZAZ") is the only enterprise in Ukraine that has a full cycle of passenger car production, which includes stamping, welding, painting, body equipment and vehicle assembly. The enterprise has created and is constantly improving a qualitatively new modern high-tech production. The priorities of PJSC "ZAZ" are the constant striving to improve their own products, work on the implementation of new ideas and expand the range of cars.

The high level of technical support of production became the basis for fruitful cooperation of PJSC "ZAZ" with the leaders of the world automotive industry: Adam Opel, Daimler AG, GM DAT, VAZ, TATA, Chery, KIA. The production is focused mainly on consumers of class C cars (the fastest growing market segment).

PJSC "ZAZ" is a part of the group of companies "UkrAVTO". Ukrainian Automobile Corporation - the leader of the Ukrainian automotive market; the largest manufacturer and distributor of cars, a provider of high quality car service.

The dynamics of the development of the car plant, the priorities of which are the constant striving to improve its own products, work on the implementation of new ideas and the expansion of the model range of cars, speaks of the progress in creating a domestic car.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND POLICY

The company's quality policy is aimed at meeting the requirements and expectations of consumers, improving the quality management system. The production meets the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001: 2000 and the requirements put forward by the partners of PJSC
• ensures the release of high quality products and their constant improvement;
 • increases customer satisfaction;
 • defines the functions, powers and responsibilities of all personnel, improves the interaction and understanding of the personnel;
 • increases the effectiveness of decisions made;
 • is constantly improving the design, production, control and management processes;
 • increases the efficiency of the enterprise as a whole due to the priority of prevention methods over methods of eliminating deficiencies;
 • increases the competitiveness of the enterprise.

WELDING PRODUCTION

Automation of production, almost completely eliminating human resources, especially at the stage of body welding, has improved the speed and quality of operations. Welding of bodies is carried out on lines that are equipped with unique equipment that has no analogues in Ukraine. Operations are performed by robotic systems. Maximum mechanization and automation of welding production allows, with low labor costs, not only to ensure quality in accordance with the most stringent requirements, but also to control it with modern diagnostic tools.

Welding production includes flexible automatic lines "FANUC", "SOMAU", "KUKA", control systems "Texas-500", "Alen-Bredley", "Simatik-110".

The quality level of welded bodies is determined in the body geometry laboratory using modern equipment that meets international standards. The PRO Compact Coordinate Measuring Machine installed in the laboratory is versatile, performs measurement functions, scans surfaces, and with the help of software converts them into 3D surfaces. The quality of welded joints is controlled by destructive and non-destructive methods. The quality of the front surface and the conformity of the clearances of the mounted units are controlled on 100% of the bodies being manufactured.

The capacity is 22 knots per hour.

PAINT PRODUCTION

The painting process has two components: painting the body and painting the plastic parts.
Before the parts are fed to the paint chambers, degreasing, washing, blowing and drying are performed in a surface preparation unit. After gas-flame processing and blowing with ionized air, the parts enter the priming and painting chambers. All processes are carried out using robots.

Preparation of the body surface at the stage of degreasing and phosphating is carried out by immersion in a cataphoresis bath and spraying using a phosphating and cathodic electrophoresis composition. The use of painting materials produced by BASF and KCC and modern painting technology provide a 5-year guarantee against perforating corrosion of the body.

The stage of applying sealants is followed by a painting tricycle. The spray head of each SAMES robot rotates at 30 thousand revolutions per minute, painting one body takes 1 minute 25 seconds.

The lines provide for the possibility of using enamels such as "pastel" and "metallic". Nine modern robots are installed in the paint shop, five of them are intended for applying paint, four - for varnishes. Possibilities of the paint shop - a conveyor at a speed of 3.75 m / min, where the bodies are painted in 12 colors: 8 - metallic, 4 - pastel.

New robotic equipment can be easily reprogrammed, performing painting quickly and efficiently. There are two automatic lines in production with a total length of the cargo conveyor 4,100 m.

The paint conveyors provide 32 bodies per hour.

MOTOR PRODUCTION

The Melitopol Motor Plant is a self-supporting enterprise of PJSC "ZAZ" and traces its history back to 1908, when I. Zaferman founded a plant for the production of oil engines.

The history of the enterprise is inextricably linked with specialization in the production of power units and constant development. It was in Melitopol that the first engines for the legendary Zaporozhets car were produced. Cars of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant "Tavria", "Slavuta" and "Sen" are also equipped with Melitopol engines.

The Melitopol Motor Plant became the first plant in Ukraine to develop an engine design with an extended fuel injection system and an electronic engine control system (MeMZ-307 with a capacity of 70 hp).

In 2004, the plant was awarded the Certificate of Compliance of the Quality Management System to the International Standard ISO 9001: 2000, issued by the transnational International Technical Society BURO VERITAS.

Despite the fact that the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant remains the main customer of the Melitopol plant, some of the products (spare parts) are also exported. Today the company employs more than three thousand people. Its work is provided by 256 suppliers (in Ukraine - 203, in Russia - 45, far abroad - 8). In addition to the production of engines, MeMZ produces new types of products: a semi-trailer auto transporter, a tow truck, a cargo platform, a van based on TATA.

The Melitopol Motor Plant manufactures power units that meet the Euro - 2 standard: engines up to 1.4 liters and transmissions.

ASSEMBLY PRODUCTION

The production uses the principle of production lines using a system of overhead and floor sidewalk conveyors. The assembly, for example, of Lanos cars is carried out simultaneously at a rate of 32 cars per hour. Every two minutes for 8 hours a finished car rolls off the assembly line here, that is, 240 cars per shift.

The new conveyor line and equipment used for assembly are versatile, which makes it easy to adapt the workshop for the assembly of new car models.

The Zaporozhye Automobile Plant produces 5 models of passenger cars under the ZAZ brand by full-scale production. Some of the components - power units, fittings, seats, plastic products - are manufactured at the enterprise. The rest is provided by supplier enterprises, more than 80% of which are localized in Ukraine.

TESTS

The parameters of the car are checked at the stands installed in the assembly shop for running in, testing brakes, adjusting the angles of the steering wheels and adjusting the headlights.

After bench tests, the car is sent to road tests. The track consists of different types of surfaces - "Speed Bump", plates for checking asymmetric loads, ropes for checking symmetrical loads, various types of road surface. Test experts check the car for compliance with the requirements for noise, vibration and stiffness, conduct an additional visual inspection of all components and assemblies of the tested car on the elevation / descent ramp. Each car undergoes final processing, which includes the following steps:

 • washing after road running;
 • inspection control for tightness;
 • elimination of defects identified after road running;
 • control of front surfaces;
 • installation of additional options.

LOGISTICS

After the tests and final processing, the formed batch of cars is transferred to the finished product warehouse, to the car logistics department. The modernized logistics system at ZAZ is constantly evolving, ensuring the efficiency, efficiency and quality of the complex of works associated with both timely delivery of components to factory conveyors, and with prompt delivery of a finished car to the sales network under the order of its future owner.
