We only take a wallet

Budget travel deposit - careful planning and lack of a rush. Nowadays, you can only take a wallet on a journey, almost all problems on the road are now solved by money. The question is only in their quantity. The same with visas. There is nothing difficult in getting all the necessary visas at home in Russia, while you have a job, and you are in close proximity to the Russian Embassy. But it is almost impossible to obtain a visa to Pakistan or the USA being abroad.

Total visas costs and documents amounted to 10% of our budget.

The main factor ensuring our fuel economy, which also amounted to 15%, was the choice of a car. Fuel prices, like its quality, in different countries differ considerably. Save on flights

Despite the fact that we drove on the car, do without expenses for flights, taking into account the need for the intersection of the oceans, we could not. The cost of flights amounted to 7% of our budget. Moreover, the high cost of tickets from Australia to Latin America made us change the route and go first in the US, and then go down through Central America down to Santiago (Chile). Complexity when buying tickets was that we could not acquire them in advance, since they could not with sufficient accuracy to predict the moment when we reached the point of destination, and the car will be immersed on the ship. Therefore, we had to apply a creative approach.

First, of course, we used the Skyscanner website to search for the cheapest air tickets. But despite the fact that the service offers ready-made flights with transfers, sometimes you need to apply a more creative approach and search for cheap docks yourself, using the function of the service "everywhere" instead of the destination point. Using this functionality, we were able to find out that from Australia is cheaper than just flying to Hawaii, and already from there in California, where our car sailed.

First of all, we were talking, of course, about the world tour. But what is the way of movement choose? Walking? No, it will take a lifetime. By bike? In principle, for me it is an acceptable option (being a student, I was seriously engaged in cycling on the highway, my record is 270 km in one day), but still long (if To do the real army, then on this in the absence of great financial support leaves five years). There was a travel option by car. It seemed most attractive yet because none of Russia (and the Soviet Union) Before that, the autocrucks did not perform (although it managed to make people from other countries). Naturally, I wanted to go through an unusual route, for which no one has ever traveled. In addition, I drew attention to the fact that in the previously perfect army points of the beginning and end of the path in different continents were arbitrary, not formalized. Therefore, I decided to drive across all the continents between the extreme dots in the direction in which these continents are elongated, that is, to cross both American mainland from the northern outskirts itself North America to the southernmost point of South America (naturally, where can be reached by car), cross Africa from the southernmost point to the most northern, Eurasia - from the most western to the easternmost (from available on passenger car), And Australia is from the easternmost to the most western (either at all go round it around the perimeter).

September 25, 1997 in the evening (at 18 o'clock) we flew from Khabarovsk to Anchorage (Alaska), where they flew in less than 5 hours at 4 am ... One of the "Fords" was a pick-up with a large interior, wide seats and a sleeping place. The car is gorgeous, but it would be very big, it would be difficult to move through the streets with intense traffic and, most importantly, by narrow mountain roads. The rest of the "Fords" (for 2 and 2.2 thousand dollars) were "worn" enough, but "Volvo" looked like a new one (although it was 1986 and raided 300,000 km). In the end, we stopped on it.
