A new car for how long can you drive without a CTP. Features of registration of the CTP for a new car

As you know, a car insurance policy is mandatory when driving a car on the territory of the Russian Federation. However, in front of drivers buying new car, the problem arises - how to issue OSAGO for a new car? After all, it is not always possible to buy insurance directly at a car dealership, and the car has not yet passed the inspection and has not even been registered. It turns out that the driver seems to have bought a new car, but cannot drive it without a car license. The legislation provides for a solution to this problem:

It turns out that the car owner has 10 days between buying a car and issuing OSAGO for a new car, during which he can drive his newly purchased car. During this time, he is obliged to insure himself under car insurance.

Moreover, important point is the fact that a diagnostic card for compulsory motor third party liability insurance for a new car is not needed. It is also not needed if you buy a car up to three years old and issue MTPL for a new car without technical inspection. This greatly facilitates the purchase of car insurance.

The documents for registration of a CTP for a new car are needed exactly the same as are usually required for registration of a car insurance.

At the same time, you need to understand that although you can drive without a car insurance for 10 days from the date of buying a car, it is best to immediately buy a CTP at new car, because if you have an accident during this period without a car insurance, you will not receive an insurance payment.

OSAGO for a new car before registration

In some cases, after buying a car, it still needs to be transported to the place of registration of the owner. Then the CTP policy for a new car without numbers cannot be purchased within 10 days. At the same time, transit numbers are issued to the car, and a CTP transit policy is issued for a period of 20 days. After that, you need to issue a standard car insurance policy for the car and get permanent numbers.

OSAGO when buying a new car on credit

Usually a CTP policy for credit car at the request of the bank, it must be drawn up for a period of at least 1 year, and installment payments are not allowed.

Also, in case of MTPL on a new car on credit, the start date of the policy is usually set on the date of issuance of the loan in order to completely secure the credit machine from any risks.

By purchasing a new car, you get a lot of positive emotions. I want to get into it and rush off to ride. However, do not forget about the bureaucratic hassle accompanying the purchase. You need to get numbers, put the vehicle on record and, most importantly, take out OSAGO insurance.

For the new vehicle the law gives ten days to complete all documents. During this period, it is allowed to ride without insurance. However, the salons assure that you cannot even drive a couple of meters without a policy. It should be noted that this is only true for vehicles purchased on credit.

OSAGO for a new car without numbers

Don't agree with consultants. Most likely they impose on you insurance companies that are partners of the salon. Typically, these insurances are overpriced. It's better to choose the most profitable insurance company, the more you have ten legal days. In this case, you must be careful, because russian roads contain many dangers. IN accident case you risk serious losses. After all, all the damage will have to be paid independently. To protect yourself from unforeseen expenses, you can contact your favorite insurance company. The insurer's agent will draw up a policy for you and, if necessary, inspect the vehicle right in the cabin. This way you can leave the seller insured. This approach allows you to significantly simplify and speed up the insurance process.

OSAGO registration process

For ten days, you have the right to drive without numbers. After you issue OSAGO for a new car without numbers, you can safely proceed with the registration of the car. It is necessary to issue a policy first. Indeed, without insurance, you will not be able to register the car with the traffic police. To meet this deadline, you better think over a plan of action in advance. It is possible to decide in advance with the insurance company.

Many motorists believe that the reputation of the insurer can be neglected when issuing an OSAGO policy. After all, he pays the injured party and this does not concern you. However, this is a completely wrong approach. If your insurance company does not pay for the damage, the injured party can sue you. In this case, you will have to pay the losses yourself. It is necessary to take very seriously the choice of an insurer. An important condition for selection is the relevance of the license and customer reviews.

For registration OSAGO for a new caryou need to collect the following:

  • Driver's license;
  • Passport of a citizen who owns a car;

If you buy a car on credit, the TCP is at the bank. In this case, you need to provide a photocopy of the TCP, which you are obliged to give you. If several people will be allowed to drive, you will need to provide the driver's licenses of all participants.

Registration of a CTP policy when buying a cardoes not require technical inspection. Insurance companies need documents with technical inspection if the vehicle is more than three years old.

Which insurance is more profitable?

Sometimes it is more profitable to take out unlimited insurance. It does not need to indicate all persons entitled to drive a car. Such a policy pays off with a low experience and participation in an accident of one of the drivers. In addition, any driver can drive your car. This is beneficial on work machines and in large families.

Most often, the policy is issued for a period of one year. You can also issue a document for a shorter period. However, the shorter the period, the less profitable price... Therefore, it is recommended to issue for the maximum possible time.

Sanctions applied in case of violation of OSAGO

After the due period of registration has expired, it is prohibited to use a vehicle without a car license. According to the new legislation, the vehicle registration numbers must be indicated in the policy. If they are not indicated, the traffic police inspector has the right to prohibit the operation of the vehicle.

If you are insuring a new car, then after registration you must contact the insurance company again. There you must enter the numbers in the policy and complete the insurance procedure.

Currently, a fine of up to 800 rubles is imposed for driving without insurance. In case of a repeated violation, the fine rises to 5 thousand rubles, and subsequently - up to a ban on driving a car for up to three months.

What gives you OSAGO

By issuing an MTPL insurance policy, you protect yourself from financial responsibility if you are found guilty of an accident. The insurance covers the amount of damage up to 400 thousand rubles. If harm is caused to health - up to 500 thousand rubles. The perpetrator of the accident carries out repairs and treatment at his own expense. Damage is compensated not only to innocent vehicle owners. OSAGO covers any damage in the event of an accident. For example, if you demolish a post or drive into a counter, the damage will also be covered by insurance.

Many insurance companies offer to issue an addition to the MTPL. In this case, more damage is covered. This is a voluntary decision, therefore the cost is not fixed by law. It is worth noting that no one has the right to impose additions on you.

If you buy a car on credit, then it is the property of the bank. The owner most often requires cTP policy for the purchased carfrom the moment of registration of the loan. In addition, in this case, CASCO insurance is mandatory. This is done in order to protect the car from any threats.

Cost of OSAGO

The legislation establishes fixed rates for vehicle insurance. Companies trying to change these prices should not be trusted. Policy cost OSAGO for a new car without numberscalculated according to the following criteria:

  • vehicle registration region;
  • term from the moment of obtaining the rights;
  • horsepower;
  • the number of drivers covered by the insurance;
  • the presence of their experience of driving without committing road accidents.

Even if you have chosen an insurance company, it is best to contact an experienced insurance agent. He will help you arrange all the documents correctly in a short time and without unnecessary running around.

According to the legislation adopted in the Russian Federation, civil liability insurance is a prerequisite when driving a car. Nevertheless, drivers have many questions regarding this rule, because in some situations a citizen is simply physically unable to issue an insurance policy on time. For example, if a car has just been bought at a car dealership, then it will take some time to purchase MTPL for a new car.

In this article, we will consider: whether the owner of a new car can drive it without a formalized MTPL; how he can buy a CTP policy if the car was not registered with the traffic police; and what is the procedure and terms for issuing a policy when buying a new car?

Driving without OSAGO

Until 2009, a special amendment was in force, allowing you to use a vehicle without an insurance certificate for 30 days in the event of special circumstances (purchase of a new car, expiration of the current policy). After its cancellation, the duration of the so-called free period was reduced.

At the moment, the owners of newly purchased cars are given 10 days to settle all issues related to the registration of the policy, during which they have the right to travel without insurance (clause 2 of article 4 of the corresponding Law "On MTPL"). According to the regulatory act, the basis for granting this period is not specifically the purchase of a new vehicle in a car dealership, but the very acquisition of ownership rights in principle. That is, persons who inherited a car or accepted it as a gift also have the full right to drive without a policy for 10 days.

In order to confirm compliance with the 10-day deadline for traffic police officers, the insured should carry with them a document confirming the purchase and sale agreement (or other document, for example, a gift, etc.) with a date stamped on it, from which the countdown will be conducted ...

It should be noted that not all inspectors are aware of these rules and often insist on presenting a policy, guided by 2 point of traffic rules, otherwise threatening with a fine. Such actions on their part are illegal and can be appealed in court. Nevertheless, it is not worthwhile to unnecessarily delay the purchase of insurance, because if a citizen gets into an accident and is found guilty of it, he will have to compensate for the damage from his own pocket.

Features of the conclusion of an insurance contract

Often, in the case of purchasing a car in a car dealership, the latter's consultants offer to issue MTPL for a new car immediately in the store. Some of them may even try to deceive the client, assuring him that without buying a policy, a citizen simply has no right to travel around the city. You should not rush to agree to such offers, because as already mentioned above, the newly made car owner has 10 days to settle the issue with insurance. Much the best solution will become a thorough study of the market situation and independent search the best option... Indeed, in most cases, the policies offered by the salon will have the maximum legal price, and it is far from the fact that the insurance company that cooperates with the store will be really reliable.

If the car was bought in another region and additional time is required to drive the vehicle to the owner's place of residence (because of which the citizen will not be able to keep within the allotted 10 days), it makes sense to take out MTPL transit insurance. Such a policy is issued for up to 20 days and allows you to count on compensation in the event of an accident.

The procedure for issuing OSAGO

In general, the insurance of cars of different years of production practically does not differ from each other. You must have the following documents with you:

  • technical certificate vehicle;
  • passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, the owner of the car;
  • driver's license (if it is planned to arrange insurance for two or more persons, then additionally the rights of all registered citizens).

As you can see, registration of OSAGO for a new car does not require a certificate of technical inspection. If the car was bought on credit, then the technical passport will be at the bank. In this case, the policyholder will have to provide a certified photocopy of this document, which the bank must issue at the request of the client.

As soon as the OSAGO is received, and the vehicle is registered with the traffic police, it is necessary to contact the insurance company again to enter the received number into the policy. After that, the registration procedure can be considered complete.

How much does OSAGO cost for a new car?

The calculation of the cost of the MTPL policy for a new car is no different from the standard calculation of a car insurance. Recall that the final price is added up based on the multiplication base rate by the following coefficients:

  • vehicle registration region;
  • the number of persons allowed to drive a car;
  • age and driving experience the insured;
  • bonus-malus coefficient;
  • engine power.

However, there is one additional coefficient, which just makes the price of the policy cheaper for cars bought in a car dealership, that is, not previously operated - "Vehicle use period". For new cars, a minimum multiplier of 0.5 will be applied, while for already seen types of cars, 1 is used.

For example, a 25-year-old resident of Moscow with a driving experience of 4 years (we do not take into account the KBM), the insurance of a used passenger car with an engine power of 120 hp. will cost from 8 236 to 9 883 rubles. If the same car was new, the price would have varied in the range from 4,118 to 4,941 rubles. Thus, OSAGO will cost 50% less.
