Features of the Starline i95 immobilizer and detailed instructions for its installation and operation. Reliable immobilizer StarLine i95 Main features of StarLine i95

We have already written in one of the articles about StarLine alarms, where we also spoke in detail about the manufacturer (the article can be read), therefore, in order not to repeat ourselves, we will devote this article only to StarLine immobilizers.

Let's start with StarLine i95

These are immobilizers with control (disarming / arming) by contactless radio tags with a dialogue code with individual 128-bit encryption keys, excluding hacking with code grabbers. They have the ability to control the hood lock and are compatible with systems automatic start engine. StarLine i95 immobilizers are highly energy efficient - if you leave your car, it will stay in the security mode while maintaining the battery charge for up to 150 days. Also, StarLine immobilizers work stably in the temperature range from -50 to +85 ° C. Now about each in more detail.

As well as in the StarLine i95 and i96 models, the i93 has the function of controlling the electro-mechanical hood lock and the Anti-Hi-Jack mode, and it also has a built-in motion sensor that allows you to set any alarm with auto start , and at running engine the car will be under reliable protection - if the PIN code is not entered, the engine will stall when the vehicle starts moving.

We also note that StarLine i93 can be installed not on all cars, but only with a developed CAN-bus, through which control signals pass not only for the engine, but also for other systems, for example, an audio system, heated windows, mirrors, etc.

Immobilizer Starline i95 is a car engine blocker designed to prevent car theft. The Starline assortment includes several immo models, let's dwell in detail on the review of the i95 blocker capabilities.

[Hide]

Description and working principle

Using a car lock allows you to reliable protection cars from theft. This is achieved due to the ability of the device to identify the car owner through wireless technologies, which provide additional protection ICE. The owner is identified by the blocker by identifying the tag, which may be in the driver's pocket. When a radio tag appears within the range of the transceiver, the immo key automatically exchanges signals with the processor unit.

The procedure for blocking the internal combustion engine is carried out when you start driving with the engine running or the ignition is on. If there is no radio tag in the range of the transceiver and the engine is running, the blocking will not be activated if the car is not driving. Thanks to this feature, the consumer can use the blocker to work together with different systems remote start of the motor.

An overview of the device's features is presented by the AvtoPulse channel.

When the processor module detects a tag in range after activating the ignition, the device emits a short beep. If by the beginning of the movement the radio tag was not synchronized with the unit, then alarm pulses will be triggered, which inform about the imminent blocking of the internal combustion engine. The blocking of the motor is activated for twenty seconds, and if the machine starts to move after the end of the first cycle, then it will be activated again.

With each attempt to start the internal combustion engine and start moving, the power unit will be blocked. After the third blocking cycle, the motor cannot be unlocked without the immobilizer RFID tag.

If the consumer has configured the intermittent blocking algorithm, the immobilizer will start the procedure for simulating malfunctions in iCE operation... The electrical circuit blocked by the device will periodically be broken and restored according to a certain algorithm.

Key features

Features of the Starline i95 immobilizer:

  1. The ability to control the locks of the hood and doors.
  2. Packet data transmission is carried out at 2.4 GHz. To protect the channel, a special encryption system is used to prevent hacking and ensure high security.
  3. Protection against robbery. If the car is attacked and the car owner is kicked out of the car, the car's engine will be blocked when the offender is as far away from the car owner as possible. Before blocking the motor, the immo will wait until the speed of the car is reduced to 30 km / h or lower. This is achieved thanks to the built-in speed sensor. Moreover, other drivers will be warned about braking by automatically activating the stop lights.

The Miracle of Hostile Technology channel spoke about the features of Starline i95 immobilizers.

StarLine i95 immobilizer versions and their technical characteristics

Users can choose from two models of devices - Lux and Eco.

Lux

Model Lux is a more advanced version of the i95 blocker. The locking and unlocking procedure is carried out by means of labels, there is a Free Hands mode. To activate the option, the driver must appear in the zone of the tag. The manufacturer has set up several recognition modes - within a radius of 0.5-1.5 meters, 3-4 meters, as well as when the car owner is 15-17 meters from the car.

The main feature of the model is the presence of a remote control key fob equipped with a key and a diode indicator. This device is mounted on the instrument panel and is used for emergency password entry.

ECO

This model is considered one of the most affordable. Starline Eco belongs to the category of contactless blockers that allow you to detect a tag in a car owner's pocket from a distance. If the owner is successfully identified, the immo will unlock the hood lock when it is installed (we are talking about electromechanical devices).

Unlike the above-described Starline immobilizer model, Eco does not have a Hands-free function, and an additional display unit is not included in the package.

Appearance and equipment

Engine blocker kit:

  • two radio tags with power supplies, batteries;
  • a special card with a password for emergency unlocking of the internal combustion engine;
  • device display unit;
  • built-in motion controller;
  • blocking engine module;
  • manual for using the device;
  • a brief reminder of the consumer;
  • warranty card.

The processor module is housed in a small-sized water-proof housing with a built-in blocking relay. This unit is equipped with a motion controller and a power switch for the hood lock. The module is made in the form of a monoblock. The display unit is a small-sized device designed to warn the car owner with light signals and sounds.

RFID tags are enclosed in a waterproof glossy case and are characterized by their small size, so they can be hidden even in a wallet. The main feature of the tags is the reduced energy consumption due to the use of new technologies. This allows you to increase the service life of the batteries. Over time, the mirror effect of the case disappears. Because of this, scratches and damage appear on it. On the body of the tag there is a button with which you can control the setting of the blocker. By means of this button the immobilizer is transferred to service mode.

The AutoAudioCenter channel gave an overview of the configuration and main features of the Starline i95 blocker.

The display unit is mounted in the passenger compartment. The device is used to warn the car owner in advance about the absence of a tag and the upcoming blocking of the internal combustion engine. The module also warns about a discharged battery. The main feature of the element is that it "communicates" with the processor over a wireless channel. Accordingly, it does not have electrical communication with the main module, which means that it can be connected to any electrical circuit where there is power. Correct setting of the block ensures the required operation of the blocker.

How to install?

The StarLine i95 immobilizer processor unit is installed in a hidden place inaccessible to a criminal.

The device connector is equipped with nine contacts, each of which is intended for connection to separate electrical circuits:

  • mass, that is, grounding;
  • power contact of the device power supply;
  • contact for connection to the ignition switch;
  • output for connecting an open relay contact;
  • contact for connecting a closed relay output;
  • common output for connecting a relay;
  • two outputs for connecting the electric circuit for opening and closing the electromechanical hood lock;
  • limit switch of locks;
  • output for connecting a status radio channel;
  • contact for connecting a universal radio channel.

During the installation, you can not connect all contacts, however, for minimum protection, you will need to connect all outputs except the last two. To activate the display module, it is necessary to connect the ground and the ignition switch. Length of wires included in mounting kit, is 25 cm. Because of this, the consumer will have to build up cables.

Channel Garage Region-51 provided universal instructions for installing an internal combustion engine blocker.

User's manual

Control of various modes and settings of StarLine i95 equipment is carried out using the technical manual.

Opening car doors

The signal to open the door locks is issued in the following cases:

  • when the car owner approaches the car at a distance that corresponds to the tag's coverage area;
  • if the ignition is turned off when the function of opening the door locks is configured when the key is turned in the lock to the Off position;
  • if the system enters the mode emergency shutdown blocking, but this will happen after entering the password;
  • when the service mode is turned on.

Closing auto doors

A close signal is sent in the following cases:

  • if the car owner has moved away from the car at a certain distance, which the consumer has previously configured;
  • if the option of additional closing at the start of movement is enabled and the car starts to move.

Using the service mode

If you plan to hand over the car for service, then you need to activate the service mode:

  1. Click on the button located on the tag body and hold it down. This will cause the device to check the specified operating mode and establish communication with the processor module. The key must be held down for seven seconds until the LED indicator turns yellow.
  2. The key is released at the moment when the LED indicator lights up for two seconds.
  3. If the immobilizer enters the service mode, the light will blink yellow again.

Konstantin Skots spoke about the features of the blocker and its use by example kia car Sportage.

Registering a tag

Registration of new tags is done as follows:

  1. Click on the RFID tag located on the case. It is held for three seconds, then released.
  2. The successful binding of the RFID tag will be indicated by green flashes of the diode lamp. The number of blinks of the diode will correspond to the number of attached tags.
  3. To switch the RFID tag into normal operation mode, the power supply must be removed from the device and then reinstalled.
  4. The previous three steps are repeated to link the rest of the RFID tags.
  5. When the registration procedure is completed, the ignition is turned off.

Advantages and disadvantages

Benefits of Starline blockers:

  1. Effective anti-theft protection. It is produced by blocking the internal combustion engine.
  2. Car owner identification. For identification, the user just needs to go to the car.
  3. The presence of a secure communication channel ensures the safety of transmitted signals from interception.
  4. Built-in motion controller. With the correct connection of the immo to the alarm, thanks to this sensor, you can configure the remote start of the internal combustion engine.
  5. Possibility to control door locks, as well as the hood lock.
  6. Due to the waterproof housing, breakage of marks due to exposure to water is excluded.
  7. Using a universal connection channel will allow the interlock to connect to limit switches, brake pedal, or touch controller.
  8. The ability to configure the engine blocker using a computer.

The main disadvantage, according to reviews, is the relatively high cost, it is about 7 thousand rubles. For this amount, a consumer can purchase an alarm with a siren.

Modifications Starline i95

The main difference between starline models i95 Lux and Eco consists in the absence of the “Hands Free” option for the Eco modification blocker.

Eco model from the line of immobilizers is the most affordable in terms of cost options and belongs to the class contactless systems... The Lux blocker is the most modernized in terms of functionality - the user has the ability to configure the range of the transceiver to authorize the owner. This model has a remote mark equipped with an LED and a control button (it is used for emergency shutdown of the device).

Differences between i95, i95 Lux and i95 Eco models:

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  1. Protecting the vehicle from theft by blocking the engine.
  2. The ability to identify the owner of the car by radio tag. If not, the blocking will not be disabled.
  3. The use of a secure communication channel for data transmission, which prevents the possibility of intercepting impulses.
  4. Application of the built-in motion sensor. The engine blocking will not be disabled if an unauthorized entry into the vehicle interior is detected.
  5. The electronic key for immobilizer control is supplied in a waterproof case. This prevents damage to the tag due to exposure to water.
  6. Availability of a universal communication channel. This makes it possible to connect limit switches, additional sensors, and a brake pedal controller to the immobilizer.
  7. Possibility of configuring the basic functions of the locking device using a computer.

According to reviews, the main disadvantage of Starline i95 immobilizers is the high price for which you can purchase a full-fledged alarm with an engine blocker.

How to install an immobilizer?

Before installing the lock, you will need to turn off the ignition, all electrical equipment and power in on-board network... For this, the negative terminal is disconnected from the battery under the hood. After disconnection, it is not allowed to connect it to the body, as this will lead to a short circuit and damage to the battery.

Detailed installation instructions are included with the immobilizer.

Power connection

Power connection features:

  1. The contact element marked as "GND" is connected to the "ground" of the vehicle. The wire can be connected to any standard bolt installed on the body.
  2. To power the device, use the "BAT" contact, and the voltage on it must always be. Therefore, this conductor should be connected directly to a battery or other unit that is always on.
  3. When Starline i95 is connected, the “IGN” contact is connected to the electrical circuit, which receives 12-volt voltage when the ignition and engine are turned on.

Connecting outputs

Contact elements "Lock" and "Unlock" are used to control the central lock or hood lock.

The main methods of controlling the lock, outputs, signals for opening and closing are shown in the table:

The "Input" contact element must be connected with a suitable limit switch. This connection will provide the ability to monitor the status of the locks on the hood and doors. If they are open, then locking is not performed, therefore on this cable with open hood and the doors must have a negative signal.

The “Output” contact makes it possible to use the blocker in conjunction with external equipment to monitor the presence of the car owner in the cabin.

It works like this:

  1. If there is no electronic key in the coverage area or if it is at a distance, the resistance on the wire will be high. Accordingly, the contact must be open.
  2. The activation of the "ground" or negative contact is performed when the owner with the tag is near the transceiver.

Connecting an audible detector

Features of connecting a sound detector:

  1. The “Output” contact must be connected to the negative output of the beeper, and the plus - with the “BAT” cable on the block.
  2. If necessary, you can connect the LED lamp to the buzzer in parallel. But it is necessary to add a resistor element designed for 1-2 kΩ to the electrical circuit.
  3. When installing, the buzzer must be positioned so that its signals are not muffled and can be heard by the driver.
  4. Do not place the beeper next to the blocking module, as this will lead to false alarms of the motion controller.

Connecting a universal channel

The contact element "EXT" can be connected to one of the outputs:

  1. Plus on the brake pedal. It is used to interrogate the device before starting the engine blocking, if the Anti-theft function is enabled.
  2. Plus limit switch. Used to determine the status of door locks or bonnet. Its use is advisable on vehicles with a 12-volt potential on the device, if the described locks are open.
  3. Negative contact of the touch controller (this controller is not included in the package and is installed separately). With the "Hands free" option enabled, if the electronic key is in the range of action, the central locking will open only after receiving a sensor pulse. The transmission of an impulse to the locked doors is carried out when the RFID tag is moved away or by prolonged exposure to the controller.
  4. Negative output for stop lights rated for 400 mA. This element is used to alert other drivers that the vehicle has stopped before blocking the power unit. The warning light pulses in the passenger compartment are duplicated by signals from the stop lights.
  5. Negative output for side lights, rated for 400 mA. This element is used for light indication of automatic opening and closing of door locks. When a signal for locking is given, the overall lighting devices will blink once. Together with the impulse to open the door locks, the headlights will flash twice.

Connection diagrams

Connection diagrams are shown in the photo:

General control unit connection card

Manual

According to the operation manual, before using the lock, a working power supply must be installed in the electronic key. To do this, you need to remove the back cover of the tag and insert the battery into it, taking into account the polarity. The LED indicator will indicate that the device is turned on. If you are programming new electronic keys, you do not need to insert the battery.

Control key fob and its activation

Key Programming Guide:

  1. The ignition is switched on. It is necessary to wait until the immobilizer plays a sound signal. Then the ignition is turned off.
  2. Then it is activated again, while the blocker must issue a series sound signals... To unlock, you need to know the code that is indicated on the plastic card. The ignition must be turned off at the moment when the number of sound signals corresponds to the first digit of the password.
  3. The procedure for entering the rest of the code characters is similar. The ignition is switched on, and if the immobilizer accepts the password, three sound impulses will sound. This indicates that the blocker has entered the emergency unblocking menu.
  4. The next step is to enter the programming mode. After turning on the ignition, one long beep will sound after twenty seconds. The system turns off while the pulse is playing.
  5. The ignition is turned on again. Seven short sound impulses should be heard, which indicates entering the menu for registering new key fobs.
  6. The button on the radio tag is pressed. Keeping it in this state, it is necessary to install a new power supply in the key. The key is pressed for three seconds.
  7. Upon successful tag binding, the LED element on the key will start blinking green. The number of blinks corresponds to the total number of programmed remote controls. If the binding is not completed, the LED will glow red.
  8. To transfer the electronic tag to normal operation, the battery must be removed and reinserted from it.
  9. The actions described in paragraphs 6-7 are repeated for each programmable key.
  10. After completing the task, you must turn off the ignition. All RFID tags must be registered in one binding cycle; in total, up to four keys can be programmed.

Door lock control

When the hands-free function is activated, the doors are opened upon the following events:

  • approach of the car owner with an electronic key to the vehicle standing still (the range is programmable by the user);
  • turning off the ignition system (if this function has been previously configured);
  • transition to the emergency unlocking menu of the immobilizer, if the PIN code has been successfully entered;
  • entering the service mode.

The door locks are closed when the car owner is removed with an electronic key from the immobilizer control unit. Deactivation is carried out at the start of the movement, if the additional locking function has been previously set.

If the “EXT” universal channel is used, the door locks are closed by means of a prolonged impact on the presence controller for three seconds. In this case, the electronic key must be in the range of action.

Signals to open locks when using the EXT channel are given if:

  • hand touch controller triggered when the RFID tag is within the operating range of the transceiver;
  • the ignition is turned off if the user has previously configured this function;
  • you enter the emergency unblocking menu if the code was entered correctly;
  • there is a transition to the service mode.

Hood lock control

Signals to lock the hood are transmitted to the control unit when the car owner with a mark is removed from the vehicle. In this case, the ignition system must be turned off. Also, the lock product will close when the pulses are issued, warning of the impending blocking of the power unit.

The lock is opened if:

  • the ignition in the car turns on, and the tag is within the range of the transceiver;
  • you enter the menu for emergency unblocking of the immobilizer;
  • a car owner with an electronic key is within the control module's coverage area;
  • the service mode is entered.

User Andrey Popov, using the example of the Hyundai Grand Stareks, spoke about the control of the Starline i95 blocker.

Service Mode

Entering the service mode is done as follows:

  1. The key on the electronic key is pressed and held. The immobilizer must diagnose the set operating mode and establish communication with the control unit. The radio tag button is held down for seven seconds until the LED starts blinking yellow.
  2. At the moment when the light on the label lights up for 2 seconds, the button is released. The entry into the engine blocker service mode will be indicated by a single blinking of the LED.

Display module programming

The additional block is bound like this:

  1. The power cord is connected to the device.
  2. After activation, the communication channel is automatically monitored. The end of this procedure occurs ten seconds before the completion of the blinking of the diode lamp.
  3. The button on the display unit is clamped and held for three seconds, then it must be released.
  4. Upon successful binding of the module, the LED bulbs will blink green. Otherwise, the flicker will be red.
  5. To exit the programming menu, the ignition is switched off.
