Peugeot 307 diesel engine oil. In conclusion about the replacement of process fluids

"Ways to change the oil on the Peugeot 307 do it yourself

The article discusses options oil change in the power unit Peugeot 307... Described how the process takes place. What to look for. Perhaps the information will be useful to you, and your knowledge base will be replenished with new necessary information.

Jokingly and seriously about the engine

Sitting comfortably in the seat of your car, and starting the engine, what do we do first? That's right, we listen to the noise coming from under the hood. It is there that the iron heart of the car is installed, which we must take care of and replace the necessary consumables in time.

Check his condition, regularly make a technical diagnosis, visiting a painfully familiar service station. We can take a risk (or be stupid) entrusting the care of the power unit of the garage to the master. If necessary, and for the sake of interest, we dig in the car ourselves, check if it is leaking from under the bottom, regularly change the oil. By the way, let's talk about changing the oil in the internal combustion engine?

Speculation and rumors

Our drivers are not used to trusting manufacturers' recommendations. There is a double opinion on this matter. On the one hand, advice is given based on rigorous testing. On the other hand, they (advice) are advisory in nature, and the cars are tested on a good road surface.

What should our drivers do, who drive on roads that are not of European quality? Are the recommendations for unadapted vehicles suitable for our “asphalt”?

For example, on the recommendation of the manufacturer, the oil change in the power unit (engine) of the French Peugeot 307 must be done at regular intervals. In practice, the specified terms under our conditions are shifted, and the frequency of engine oil changes is reduced. According to the French side, you only need to follow:

  1. behind its color;
  2. and level.

Our drivers are still replacing the Peugeot 307 engine oil.

Change of engine oil is possible:

  • full;
  • partial.

In practice, the oil in the engine changes FULLY!

What is needed to check the oil level in the power unit? First of all, you need to check that there are no errors. A diagnostic tool is used for this.

The next step is to install the Peugeot 307 car on a lift. Perhaps put the car on inspection pit... Installation is carried out on a horizontal surface.

The first signal to change the oil can be a sign about the passage service, which by default is usually set at 20,000 kilometers and serves as a countdown.

IN official dealer it is customary to change the oil and filter at the same time for each run of 20,000 kilometers or 1 year, whichever comes first.

We make a replacement for Peugeot:

  • We unscrew the filter, but not completely, so as to let the oil drain into the pan.
  • Then it is necessary to unscrew the oil filling plug. For convenience, it is recommended to use a funnel and pipe. You can use a cylinder.
  • Change the filter insert.
  • Fill in oil in the amount according to the manufacturer's regulations, for the 1.6 VTi TU5JP4 engine 3.2 liters are required taking into account the filter volume

Oil change is carried out with the frequency of operation of the Peugeot 307 every 6 months. Or 10,000 km of car mileage. With constant driving on the Peugeot 307 in difficult road and climatic conditions it is necessary to change the oil in the power unit after three months or 5000 km.

Extreme conditions include the operation of a car practically throughout the entire post-Soviet space.

The volume of oil for replacement is 3.75 liters. These indicators include an oil filter and must also be replaced.

What are difficult conditions in which it is necessary to change the oil more often than once every six months?

  • These are short-term movements in a Peugeot car, the range of which does not exceed 6 kilometers.
  • Short trips at - t o environment at a distance of up to 16 km.
  • If trips are accompanied by stops for a long time, when the power unit is constantly idling.
  • The extreme operating conditions of a French-made car include movement at low speed and frequent changes in driving modes in metropolitan areas with endless congestion and traffic jams.
  • Frequent oil changes in the internal combustion engine are required when the vehicle is operating, in particular Peugeot, in a dusty area.

Additional information on replacement

If we are talking about oil change in engine French, you may be interested in information about the change transmission fluid in the car. The table shows the motors of the 1.6 liter line. The machines of production of 2001 - 2008 with gearboxes were investigated:

It is clear that you should not reinvent the wheel. There is a necessary displacement, which should be adhered to, nothing more! It is recommended to check the oil in the gearbox every 40,000 (forty thousand) km traveled. Or 1 (one) time per year.

We remind that during operation, manufacturers recommend changing the transmission oil.

Peugeot 307 is the most popular model of the French company. This model has a successor in the person of the 308, but this does not mean at all that the original "three hundred and seventh" is completely outdated, which is confirmed by the rather high sales of this car in the supported market. In addition, this car has a simple design, which means that it can self service... Thus, it is possible to reduce the cost of some procedures that can be completely solved on their own - for example, it is an oil change in the engine. This task does not require professional skills. It is much more difficult not to replace, but to choose the right one engine oil... This question worries almost every owner of Peugeot 307. In this article we will consider optimal parameters and brands in order to choose the best oil for Peugeot 307 engine.

Before choosing a manufacturer, it is important to pay attention to several aspects:

  1. Determine in what climatic (temperature) conditions the car is constantly used. You also need to pay attention to when to fill in the lubricant - before winter, or before summer. This is indicated by the viscosity parameter denoted as MM.
  2. The composition of a substance is different, and depends not only on a particular manufacturer, but also on various characteristics, including the presence of certain additives. According to certain parameters, you can choose three types of oil - mineral, synthetic or semi-synthetic.
  3. Manufacturer - for a car of this level, you should choose oils from American or European companies. And yet, it is much more important to consider the manufacturer's recommendations first.

Note that the Peugeot 307 came off the assembly line with the original Total Quartz factory oil. This grease has the most optimal viscosity, tolerance and other details to ensure safe and reliable work engine Peugeot 307. Unfortunately, this is the highest quality and, at the same time, the most expensive oil that not every owner of the Peugeot 307 can afford. That is why the owner's manual for the car contains all the necessary parameters that you need to know when choosing an oil absolutely different brands (analogs).

Practice shows that Peugeot 307 owners often use Total Quartz. This oil is no worse in its properties than, for example, Mobil or Liqui Moli. It is believed that Total Quartz is suitable for a more relaxed ride, and Liqui Moli can be recommended for sports fans. Mobil - universal oilsuitable for different driving styles.

Serial production of the Peugeot 307 started at the beginning of 2001. The novelty became an ideological continuation of the lineup from the French manufacturer and replaced the Peugeot 306, which did not have time to "age". The car belongs to the C-segment and is developed on the basis of a new platform from the PSA concern. The 307th underwent only one restyling in 2005 and lasted on the conveyor until 2008, after which its release was officially completed, although until 2011 the model was assembled at factories in Argentina. The car was presented in the bodies of a station wagon, a hatchback, a sedan (in some countries) and a coupe-convertible (since 2003 - a small-scale 307 SS, which was imported into Russia with 2.0-liter engines with a capacity of 143 and 180 hp). The next incarnation of the 300 series differed from its predecessor in significantly increased dimensions - this is no longer a familiar compact machine, but a typical representative of the middle class.

Peugeot 307 was equipped with a fairly wide range of engines, traditional for the entire Peugeot range. But low-power units with a volume of 1.1 liters disappeared from it, and diesel engines became stronger. Gasoline engines had volumes of 1.4 (75 -88 HP), 1.6 (108 HP) and 2.0 liters (140-177 HP). At the same time, the 108-horsepower unit was the most popular in Europe. Further in the article it will be told about what kind of oil and how much to pour into each motor.

The 2005 update brought the car some noticeable cosmetic updates. In particular, the front end has received a new design in the form of redesigned front lights and bumpers. The manufacturer removed the grille, replacing it with a huge air intake on the bumper. If we compare the car with competitors, then it is on a par with the hatchbacks Honda Civic and Citroen C4, however, over the latter, Peugeot had a significant advantage in the form spacious salon and a roomy trunk.

Generation 1 (2001-2008)

Engines TU3JP / ET3J4 1.4

  • How many liters of oil in the engine (total volume): 3.0 liters. (TU3JP), 2.75 HP (ET3J4)

  • What kind of engine oil is filled from the factory (original): Synthetics 5W40
  • Oil types (viscosity): 5W-30, 5W-40
  • How many liters of oil in the engine (total): 3.25 liters.
  • Oil consumption per 1000 km: up to 300 ml.
  • When to change the oil: 10000-20000

When owned by a handsome French man mandatory rule is the annual station visit maintenance for planned replacement oils and filters. Perhaps every self-respecting car owner can cope with this task. Doing it yourself at least once can save you money and improve your technical knowledge.

Scheduled maintenance must be carried out every 10,000 km. Thus, you will keep the engine in excellent, well-groomed condition, which will undoubtedly affect the service life.

What kind of oil to pour

How much to pour (filling volumes)

Before starting work, make sure that you have bought everything and have at hand:

  • New oil;
  • Oil filter;
  • Rags;
  • Basin for ~ 5 l;
  • Key for removing the protection (if necessary) and the drain plug;

Replacement step by step

  1. Warm up cold engine 3-4 minutes. Cold oil will drain badly from the engine, as a result, a lot of dirty oil may remain, which you will eventually mix with a new one. Thus, the performance of the new oil will deteriorate.
  2. We put the car on jacks or on the inspection pit ( perfect option) for easy access to the bottom. In some models, an engine crankcase "protection" can be installed. She needs to be woken up to access drain plug.
  3. We unscrew the filler plug, take out the oil dipstick. The oil is drained faster if there is a through hole.
  4. We substitute a basin or any other dish that can hold 5 liters of working off.
  5. We unscrew the drain plug with a wrench (it is better if the ratchet wakes up). It is best to immediately expect the oil to wake up hot. At this stage of work, you need to be most careful.
  6. After completely draining the old dirty oil, which is black, we remove the basin to the side.
  7. An optional item is flushing the engine with a special flushing fluid. You will be surprised what black oil will pour out with this liquid. This liquid is very easy to use. We fill in the engine, having previously screwed the drain plug of course. We start the car for 3-5 minutes. At the same time, we drive and heat our fluid on an old oil filter. After that, we muffle and drain into a free container.
  8. We change the oil filter to a new one. Before you put new filter, pour about 100 g of fresh oil into it and also lubricate the rubber o-ring on it.

  9. Fill in new oil. After making sure that the drain plug is screwed on and a new oil filter is installed, we can proceed to pouring new oil, guided by the dipstick. The level should be between the minimum and maximum mark. Also, you need to remember that after the first start of the engine, a little oil will go away and the level will drop.
  10. Recheck the oil level on the dipstick after the first start. Run the engine at idle speed for about 10 minutes.

Video materials

A visual video (not in Russian) shows how and what to turn to change the oil and the cleaning filter on the 307.

Regularly changing the oil and oil filter is one of the most important vehicle maintenance procedures. Over time, the liquid loses its original properties. In order for the power unit to serve its owner for many more years, an oil change in the power unit will be required.

When does the oil change?

The procedure for changing the oil on the advice of the manufacturer is once every 15 thousand kilometers. Auto experts recommend changing the fluid every 8-10 thousand kilometers or according to the existing signs of the need for replacement.

Replacement signs oil liquid in peugeot engine:

  • Engine noise;
  • Reduced dynamics;
  • Increased consumption;
  • Overheat power unit;
  • Detection of metal shavings when inspecting the oil;
  • Darkening of the liquid on visual inspection.

Which oil to choose?

Before choosing an oil, it will be necessary to analyze the conditions in which it is operated vehicle.

Terms of Use:

  • Seasonin which the vehicle is operated. Depends on what time of the year the car oil changes, before winter or before summer. Based on this, the viscosity is selected.
  • Composition of the substance... Most of the popular brands on the market differ from one another. It is about the composition of the grease and additional additives. Depending on the preferences of the car owner: synthetics, semi-synthetics or mineral oil.
  • Manufacturer... It can be domestic, European or American. Often the parameters of the lubricant depend on the manufacturer.

Do-it-yourself oil change process in a Peugeot 307 engine

Before starting the procedure for changing the oil in the Peugeot 307 engine, it is recommended to prepare for work.

Required tools:

  • A set of hex keys or wrenches;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Pliers;
  • Fresh oil;
  • Oil filter;
  • Container for waste liquid;
  • Replaceable drain plug washer;
  • Special clothing and gloves.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Place the vehicle on a level surface (use a pit, overpass or lift).
  2. Open the hood. Unscrew the oil filler cap and pull out the dipstick. Air will enter the system, the oil will drain better.
  3. Remove crankcase cover. Located at the bottom of the vehicle. Unscrew the bolts around the perimeter. Use pliers or a screwdriver if necessary.
  4. A view of the drain plug will open. Use a wire brush. Clean the area around the drain plug. Place the container under the opening. Unscrew the drain plug carefully. Liquid will pour. Wait 10-15 minutes.
  5. Unscrew the oil filter in parallel with the oil drain. Note: if metal chips are found in the filter, screw it back in to flush the engine.
  6. Purchase flushing fluid... Screw on the drain plug. Pour liquid into the oil filler hole until required level... Start the power unit. Leave it to work for 5-10 minutes. Stop the engine. Unscrew the drain plug again to drain the flushing fluid.
  7. Install a new oil filter. To do this, you need to unscrew the old one. Use a special puller. If it's not at hand, a screwdriver will do. Using a screwdriver, pierce the housing closer to the edge of the filter. Use it as a lever. Unscrew counterclockwise.
  8. Install a new filter. To do this, pour about 100 grams of oil (about half of the body). Tighten until the cylinder filter O-ring contacts. Then twist by hand. Do not overdo it. If tightened too tightly, next replacement there will be a problem: it will be difficult to unscrew it.
  9. Screw on the drain plug. Pour the required amount of oil through the oil filler neck. Pour in about three liters. Check the subsequent ones every 100-200 grams with a dipstick. Attention: do not exceed the maximum mark. If you overfill, the excess oil will need to be drained.
  10. Start the engine. The oil pressure indicator should go out. If this does not happen after 2-3 seconds, the engine will need to be turned off immediately. The light indicates that there is no the right pressure... Therefore, you will need to check the system for leaks. Particular attention should be paid to oil filter and drain plug. They may not be fully clamped. If there are no leaks, restart the engine after a few minutes. The auto oil pressure indicator should go out. Let the engine run for a few minutes until it reaches operating temperature. Shut off the power unit. Check the oil level after 15-20 minutes. If it drops, oil will need to be topped up.

The process of changing the oil in the Peugeot 307 1.6 engine is completed.

Consequences of untimely replacement

If the oil is not changed in time, the channels will gradually clog and oxidize. Naturally, they are not able to perform specific functions, so the fluid in the system becomes completely useless.

Possible car breakdowns:

  • Overheating of the power unit;
  • Clogged oil channels;
  • Increased friction between the parts of the power unit, resulting in premature wear;
  • The engine and its parts do not prevent the development of rust.

To prevent this from happening, you need to change the engine oil at least every 10 thousand kilometers.
