Opel astra h hatchback specifications. Five-door hatchback Opel Astra H Family

Considering specifications Opel astra H, variations must be taken into account: more than 5 different engine sizes, sedan, station wagon, two hatchbacks and a convertible, 3 configurations.

Opel Astra H - specifications for the whole family

The technical characteristics of the Opel Astra H cannot be described in one paragraph. Because the Astra H is not just one car, it is a whole family. A range of at least 5 vehicles. At first glance, they are identical, but different in nature, in their driving performance, appearance and size.

Astra H was launched in 2004. In 2007, it underwent a slight restyling. The technical characteristics of the engines have undergone changes. They have become more powerful, economical and environmentally friendly. The front bumper, mirrors, and some interior trim elements have also changed. Astra H is still produced in the station wagon, sedan or 5-door hatchback, but under the name Astra Family.

Body and chassis Opel Astra H

The body lineup has a rich selection: sedan, station wagon, 5-door hatchback, 3-door GTC hatchback, and Astra TwinTop coupe-convertible. The technical characteristics of the various body types of the Opel Astra are similar, but there are differences. The wheelbase of the sedan and station wagon is 2703 mm, and the wheelbase of the hatchback and convertible is 2614 mm.

The turning radius for all is approximately the same, about 11 m. The trunk volumes of the sedan and the station wagon are surprisingly the same, 490 liters each. The 5-door hatchback has 375 liters, the GTC has 340 liters and the convertible has 205 liters. The volume of the gas tank on all Opel Astra is 52 liters.

The front suspension in the Astra H is lever-spring MacPherson, with telescopic shock absorbers, coil springs, and an anti-roll bar. The rear suspension in Opel Astra cars is semi-dependent, lever-spring with trailing arms.

Options Opel Astra H

Astra H has 3 trim levels: Essentia, Enjoy, Cosmo. The simplest - Essentia, includes a leather steering wheel, air conditioning, heated front seats. Enjoy added climate control, light sensor. Cosmo - the maximum configuration, boasts 16-inch alloy wheels, rain sensor, seats with eco-leather inserts. There is also a panoramic roof option for the 3-door hatchback. The OPC trim, available only for the GTC hatchback, comes with sport aids, 17-inch wheels and Recaro seats. Also in station wagons and sedans there are additional cigarette lighters in the trunk for installing the refrigerator in the trunk. In 2008, there was an opportunity to purchase a version of the Astra H Limousine, but only on order, from Germany.

Technical equipment and characteristics of the Opel Astra H

The least powerful, but at the same time the most reliable engine offered for the third Astra is a four-cylinder "six" with a volume of 1.4 liters. The power of the sixteen-valve 1.4 Opel is 90 horsepower.

In the range of Astra H engines, there are two petrol 1.6. The first produces 105hp, while the power of the second is 10 horsepower higher - 115 horsepower. On 1.6 engines, with a mileage exceeding 40,000 km, vibration was noticed at rpm in the range of 2,500 - 3,000, as a rule, this unpleasant moment is associated with the variable valve timing system.

The 1.8L engines deliver 125 and 140 horsepower. Power plants with a volume of 1.8 liters with a mileage of 70,000 suffer from camshaft oil seal leakage, and the front crankshaft oil seal can also leak. Also, on engines with a volume of 1.6 and 1.8 liters, with runs over 50,000 km, the camshaft gear can jam. As a rule, before this, when the engine is started, a grinding noise is heard for 2-3 seconds.

The most powerful gasoline units are 2.0l turbocharged engines. Their power: 170, 200 and 240 hp.

Turbodiesel engines were installed on the Opel Astra H 2004 - 2010: 1.3 - 90hp, 1.7 - 80 and 100hp, 1.9 - 120 and 150hp. According to experts, it is better to buy a gasoline Astra, since diesel engines require even more attention than Opel gasoline units. If the power on the diesel Astra dropped significantly and the car began to smoke, the reason may be the soot filter, which is already asking for replacement. A dual-mass flywheel is installed on the diesel versions of the Astra, over time it becomes the cause of knocks and vibrations, as a rule, replacement will be required when the mileage is 150,000 km.

On Astra modifications with engines 1.4 and 1.6 liters, they are installed at the rear drum brakes, on more powerful Astrah disc brakes on all wheels. Astra's front pads are enough for 30,000 km, rear - drum pads for 60,000 km. The Astra brake discs themselves serve 60,000 km.

It is best to buy a used aster with a manual transmission. The mechanics from repair to repair will last at least 100,000 km, and sometimes 200,000 km. The reverse gear of the Astra mechanical box is not equipped with a synchronizer, which is why immediately after stopping the rear speed on the Astra does not turn on well.

Astra's four-speed automatic is equipped with a winter mode, but if you do not use it for a long time, one day the activation button may simply not work. Jerks when switching from first to second on this box are considered the norm, but jerks when switching from second to third indicate a malfunction. In some cases, it will be necessary to replace the valve body for repair. A gearbox cooling radiator is built into the Astra automatic transmission housing, it happens that the coolant flows and mixes with the oil, which also does not increase the unit's resource.

A robotic gearbox with a mileage of 100,000 km will ask for a fork replacement. Usually the Easy Tronic robot serves more than 100,000 km before the bulkhead, so as not to shorten the service life robotic gearbox for a short stop, engage in neutral.

The Aster's suspension is pretty hardy. According to the owners, it is harsh. Most often, the stabilizer struts and tie rods are changed in the Opel chassis, this operation is carried out with a mileage of 50,000 km.

Price

You can buy Opel Astra H 2004 - 2010 in almost any city of the CIS. The price of the 2007 Opel Astra H is $ 11,000 - $ 12,000. Astra is a good option for a person living in a city, in moderation fast car with a non-gluttonous engine and a spacious interior, moreover, the Astra has a good level of safety.

Figures and facts

According to statistics, Opel Astra H belongs to the cars that lose in price the least over time. Plus the relative low cost of maintenance. And adding to this the technical characteristics and a large selection, we can conclude that the Opel Astra definitely deserves attention.

The third-generation hatchback Opel Astra H debuted at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the car appeared at Russian dealers in 2004. The model turned out to be so successful that with the advent of the assembly of its predecessor, it was continued at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, and the prefix Family was added to the name.

The design of the Opel Astra H hatchback is made in the style of the Vectra C model with strict body lines, large head optics and a branded radiator grill with a wide chrome strip in the upper part.

Configuration and prices Opel Astra H Family hatchback 2015.

In general, the similarity of the Astra H with the larger Vectra added solidity and rigor to the models, and the sloping roofline and rear pillars with a reverse slope introduced the lines of dynamism and sportiness. This was successfully used by the automaker in the creation of the three-door Opel Astra GTC and Opel Astra OPC.

The interior of the car was also adjusted to the general style of the lineup. This is manifested both in design and in the location of the controls, which you will not have to get used to when transferring to the Opel Astra H from other cars of the company of the same year.

Compared to the previous version of the Astra G, the third-generation hatchback turned out to be 132 mm longer - its overall length is 4 331 mm, but the wheelbase remains the same - 2 614 mm. The trunk volume of the five-door Opel Astra Family is 375 liters, but increases to 1,295 liters with the rear seat backs folded down. The ground clearance (clearance) of the hatchback is 160 mm.

The base engine for the car is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, which, after the restyling of the Astra in 2007, began to develop 115 hp. against 105 forces earlier. Paired with it is a 5-speed manual transmission, or a 5-band "robot" Easytronic.

As an alternative, a more powerful 140-horsepower 1.8-liter engine is offered, which can be ordered either with a mechanics or with a four-stage hydraulic converter.

For the Opel Astra H hatchback in the initial Essentia configuration with a 1.6-liter engine and mechanics, dealers ask 710,000 rubles. The price plug for the five-door in the intermediate Enjoy version is from 740,000 to 780,000 rubles, and the price of the Opel Astra Family in the top-end Cosmo configuration with a 1.8-liter engine and automatic transmission reaches 815,000 rubles.

Moreover, for leather interior, sunroof, adaptive headlights, navigation system, metallic paintwork and much more must be paid extra separately.

In 1991, the Opel Kadett was replaced by a new generation of "golf-class" models with a sonorous name - Astra (translated from Latin - "star").

Opel Astra of the first generation (indexed F) offered a wide range of modifications consisting of 3- and 5-door hatchbacks, 4-door sedan, 5-door station wagon Caravan and its commercial 3-door version for cargo transportation (without rear glazing). At the same time, sports modifications made their debut: GT, equipped with a 2-liter engine (115 hp), and the most powerful 16-valve GSI - 2.0 l (150 hp). It is noteworthy that the GSI version was produced not only in the traditional modification (3-door hatchback), but also as a 5-door Caravan station wagon. Two years later, the range was expanded with the new Astra four-seater convertible.

The choice of powertrains is impressive. All 4-cylinder, in-line, from 1.4 to 2 liters. Two diesels - "opelevsky" 1.7 l (60 hp) and the Japanese turbodiesel Isuzy 1.7 l (82 hp). The most common in Russia - 1.6-liter Gas engine with central injection (C16NZ).

Most of the cars were equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox; Astra with a 4-speed automatic transmission is much less common.

The interior of the car gives a pleasant impression. It is distinguished by simple lines, but everything is quite functional and practical. Quality materials have been used in the decoration. The seats are comfortable enough and have good lateral support. The dashboard is very elegant, and the center console, for greater convenience, is slightly turned towards the driver. On the front seats, a wide range of adjustments will allow you to get an optimal driving position.

The moderately soft and comfortable running gear of the Opel Astra does not cause trouble when driving, and thanks to the installation of an anti-roll bar in front and behind, the cars hold the road well. The front suspension is independent - of the McPherson type, and the rear is semi-independent with a separately installed shock absorber spring. The braking system is very effective, besides the cars of the last years of production in standard configuration equipped with an ABS system. For the most part, Astra have front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, and sports modifications have front and rear disc brakes.

The volume of the luggage compartment is beyond competition. The 3- and 5-door hatchbacks have a boot volume of 360 liters, the 5-door Caravan station wagon has 500 liters, with the rear seats folded down 1200 liters and 1630 liters, respectively.

In 1994, the car was restyled and slightly changed its appearance. The quality of the interior has been improved, and an airbag has been added to the steering wheel. The exterior of the restyled Astra was distinguished by a new false radiator grille.

In 1997, the second generation Opel Astra (G) was presented for the first time in Frankfurt. It is noteworthy that not a single important detail was taken from its predecessor. Opel offered a completely redesigned vehicle. Design, ergonomics, driving performance, functionality, quality of interior decoration have been greatly improved. The Astra was offered with three body styles: two hatchbacks - three- and five-door and a station wagon. The Astra sedan appeared only a year later.

In the struggle for the consumer, Opel offers a wide range of modifications. Astra could be anything: sedate and fast, family and individual. Mass vehicle had to please the buyer with different requests. The body of the new Astra is distinguished by excellent aerodynamics. The drag coefficient Cx is only 0.29. The strength of the body has increased. Its torsional rigidity has increased significantly compared to the body of the old Astra. We also note that about 20 grades of steel are used in the body of the new Astra. The second generation features markedly improved corrosion resistance. Opel provides a 12-year corrosion protection guarantee.

Safety is provided by seat belts, four airbags - two front and two side, hidden in the backs of the front seats. The pedal assembly is similar in design to that of the Opel Vectra. If, upon impact, the deformation touches the pedals, they do not move, but simply fall off: the brackets crumple and "release" the pedals.

For the first time in the small middle class, the Astre G was equipped with a rear steering suspension, which ensures stable behavior of the car in sharp turns.

The interior space of the cabin is quite enough to comfortably accommodate five passengers.

Compared to the predecessor model, the number of modifications has been slightly reduced as the convertible has been discontinued. But the sedan, the three- and five-door hatchback, and the Caravan station wagon remained.

Gasoline power units borrowed from the previous model, but the range of diesel engines was replenished with new 2.0-liter turbodiesels with 82 hp. (or 101 hp in the version with direct injection fuel).

In 1999, on the basis of the Astra model, with the help of the Bertone design studio, a new version was created - with a Coupe body. A year later, it went into production, and in 2001, the Opel Astra Cabrio was also manufactured on the basis of this car. Both of these modifications, despite the relatively low price, are a kind of exclusive, because they are assembled by hand at the Bertone factory.

The body of the Opel Astra Cabrio looks the same swiftly both with the top up and down. It has excellent aerodynamics. The drag coefficient Cx, even with the roof down, does not exceed 0.32. The roof of the new convertible folds and unfolds automatically, and only in the basic version the roof edge is fastened to the windshield with mechanical locks; in more advanced models, the locks are automatic and the roof can even be controlled remotely.

Three types of 1.6 petrol engines are installed on the car; 1.8 and 2.2 liters. The last of the power units debuted on the Opel Astra Coupe and was developed jointly by engineers from several divisions of the General Motors concern; it will be installed not only on the coupe and convertible, but also on other cars of the auto giant. The engine meets the Euro IV emission standards.

The second generation was discontinued in 2003. The era of the third generation of Astra cars has begun.

The distinctive features of the new Astra are faster body lines, as well as new head and rear optics, made in the style of the Opel Signum model. The interior of the novelty is distinguished by the high quality of the materials used and the stylish design. The third generation is built on a completely redesigned platform and includes a three- and five-door hatchback, as well as a station wagon (Caravan) and a convertible.

The range of engines is represented by: 1.4 liter (90hp), 1.6 liter (105hp), 1.8 liter (125hp) and 2.2 liter petrol engines, as well as 1, 7- and 2.2-liter turbodiesels. Buyers are offered a choice - a five-speed manual gearbox, a five-speed sequential electronic automatic (Easytronic), a four-speed classic automatic transmission or a new six-speed manual box(for turbo version). Suspension - McPherson front, dependent rear.

The volume of the cargo compartment of the latest generation Opel Astra Caravan will be 580 liters, which is 50 liters more than on the previous generation model. We also note that for this novelty, the FlexOrganizer system will also be offered, which allows to optimize the placement of luggage in the cargo compartment, which first appeared on the Opel Vectra station wagon.

It should also be noted that the new generation of this model meets all modern safety requirements and has received many new passive and active safety including adaptive airbags.

The new Opel Astra has an impressive range of basic and additional options for its class. Opel Astra is equipped with Adaptive Electronic Suspension Control System (IDSPlus); system of stepless regulation of its characteristics (CDC); the IDS plus system ensures good dynamic performance of the car when entering sport mode, which can be activated by simply pressing a dedicated button.

For the first time, cars of this class are equipped with an adaptive headlight beam control system (AFL) and a system for automatically switching them on when the illumination of the road decreases.

In 2004, Opel introduced the Astra GTC (Gran Turismo Compact). The target group of buyers of this car consists of both lovers of fast driving and connoisseurs of sophisticated automotive style. The proportions of the GTC, which is 15 mm shorter than the base version, are clearly dynamic. The eyes are drawn by the short overhangs of the body and more prominent than the five-door Astra, the stern. The sloping roof, triangular side windows and powerful sidewalls are designed to speak of the combat character of the car.

From the prototype, the production car inherited not only the general outline, but also a wonderful glass roof, which can be ordered as an option. The large glass area of the body gives a good overview.

High ergonomics of the driver's seat and interior trim made of high-quality materials emphasize the dignity of the car. Designers provide several interior options: from classic gray and black to bright red and blue. The Astra GTC is offered in three performance levels: Enjoy, Cosmo and Sport.

Despite the fact that the car has become shorter than the five-door version, two adult passengers can comfortably sit in the back. The trunk volume remained unchanged - it is still 380 liters. But because the rear seats fold 60:40 as standard or 40:20:40 as an option, the luggage compartment can be modulated.

The standard equipment of the car includes front and side airbags, CD-player, ABS, power windows, heated exterior mirrors, a dustproof package, Break Assistant and other equipment. Among the options are the increasingly popular CD-recorders with the ability to play MP3 files, as well as electronic systems ESP and HAS.

Astra GTC has a wide range of engines, consisting of five gasoline and three diesel, equipped with a common-rail system. The power of the motors varies from 90 to 200 hp, all of them comply with the Euro 4 standards in terms of exhaust cleanliness.

In the line of gasoline power units, the flagship is a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. With it, the Astra GTC has a top speed of 234 km / h. Among turbodiesels, the top-end is the 1.9-liter engine with a capacity of 150 hp. with. These versions are equipped with 6-speed mechanical gearboxes and Adaptive Interactive Driving System (IDSPlus) suspensions with electronically controlled damping.

The Astra GTC is equipped with adaptive AFL headlights with beam adjustment depending on the steering angle of the front wheels. The SportSwitch button allows the driver to activate Sport Mode, which adjusts the ride height and accelerator settings. In general, everything for driving pleasure.

The three-door Astra GTC is produced in Belgium, in Antwerp. The station wagon and hatchback are also assembled there.

The new generation of the Opel Astra was presented during the 2009 Frankfurt Salon. At the heart of the 2010 Astra five-door hatchback model year lies the new front-wheel drive platform Delta II from GM. The length of the wheelbase of the car compared to its predecessor has increased by 71 millimeters (up to 2685 millimeters), and the front and rear track have expanded by 56 and 70 millimeters, respectively. In addition, the angular stiffness of the front and rear suspension has increased, and the body has become 43 percent stiffer for torsion and 10 percent for bending.

Astra 2010 bears little resemblance to its predecessor - both inside and out. The new model has not inherited almost a single detail. A new generation and completely new appearance... Quadrangular headlights gave way to complex optics with LED lights, the grille is made in the Insignia style, and the general shape of the fog lamp sections and the lower air intake remained the same, but slightly "modernized". Even in the five-door version, the car has become noticeably sportier - a dynamic roofline, a strongly tilted rear window that enhances the "compartment" effect, deep stamping on the doors, sharp edges of the hood and fashionable LEDs in the headlights.

The interior is pleasing to the eye and pleasant to the touch. The main motive is the softness and consistency of the lines and the concept of the "cockpit": the elements of the interior seem to surround the driver. Pleasing to the touch materials of finishing, sports seats from Insignia (option), diffused red illumination of the door handles and the central tunnel in the area of the gearshift lever, many compartments for small things, which the predecessor lacked so much. There are pockets on the doors, and a "shelf" on the center console, and a volumetric box under the front passenger seat, a niche to the left of the steering wheel, as well as cup holders with a secret "underfloor" into which a mobile phone, wallet or GPS navigator can fit. The manufacturer has significantly improved the soundproofing of the cabin. New seals were installed, the hollow sections in the body were insulated and the aerodynamics of external elements such as rear-view mirrors and even door handles were elaborated in detail.

Astra 2010 has become not only more practical, but also more spacious - the new interior is wider both at the level of the shoulders of passengers and at the level of the hips, and the adjustment ranges of the front seats are simply enormous: back and forth, the front seats move by 28 centimeters, and up and down - by 6.5 centimeters.

Depending on the configuration, the interior can be decorated in different ways. In the basic version Essentia - the center console is made in dark colors, and the seats have fabric upholstery with a contrasting pattern of cushions and inserts on the backrests. In the Enjoy version, the door and console inserts are available in black, red or blue... The Sport has a Piano Black finish on the center console, door handles and air vents. The Cosmo version offers different seats and a two-tone console trim. A heated steering wheel can now be ordered if desired.

In order to please practical drivers, Opel engineers came up with the FlexFloor system. Simply put, it is a movable boot floor, which can be located on three levels and is capable of withstanding a load of up to 100 kilograms. In the lower position, it is just an ordinary cover, which coincides in level with the curtain covering the repair kit. In the middle, the shelf is flush with the folded backs of the rear seats, removing a step and making it easier to place long items. Due to the fact that the floor level rises slightly, an additional compartment with a depth of 55 millimeters and a volume of 52 liters is formed under the shelf. In its highest position, the shelf aligns the luggage compartment floor with rear bumper, which allows you to load a heavy load into the trunk without bending down. The section under the shelf in this case increases its volume to 126 liters and its depth to 157 millimeters. In short, the FlexFloor system allows you to correctly distribute the space in the trunk. For the cheapest versions, FlexFloor will be offered as an option.

The wide range of Ecotec engines proves that in the Opel Astra 2010 it is possible to combine high power and driving dynamics with fuel efficiency and low emissions. The car is equipped with naturally aspirated petrol engines (1.4 Ecotec / 101 hp and 1.6 Ecotec / 116 hp), as well as compact turbocharged engines with a maximum power of 1.4 l / 140 hp. and 1.6 l / 180 hp. respectively. All of them are built using 16-valve technology and are equipped with modern systems optimizing the parameters of the intake air flow. The engines are constructed using lightweight materials and structures that minimize their weight. Modern manual transmissions (5 or 6-speed) are combined with gasoline engines. In addition, the new 6-speed automatic transmission with ActiveSelect can be used with all engines except the 1.4 Ecotec. The range of diesel units is represented by three engines: 1.3 l / 95 hp, 1.7 l 110 hp. and 125 hp. and 2.0 l / 160 hp.

The 2010 Astra chassis combines a McPherson strut front suspension similar to that found on the Insignia and a newly developed intelligent rear suspension with a torsion bar and Watt mechanism. This new design reduces unwanted noise and vibration for a more comfortable cabin and also improves vehicle handling.

Another innovation is the optional FlexRide adaptive suspension. The chassis is controlled by a specially designed chassis setting mode control (DMC) that recognizes 11 different driving situations, such as driving at a constant high or low speed, cornering or accelerating. Based on this, it automatically optimizes the parameters of all driving assistance systems built into the vehicle chassis. Another key component of the FlexRide system is Dynamic Suspension Control (CDC), which adjusts suspension stiffness in real time to suit changing vehicle operating conditions. It operates in three modes: automatic (Standart), sports (Sport) and comfort (Tour). In the first case, the chassis adjusts to the road situation and driving style - the electronics independently decides whether to leave the softest settings for better ride smoothness or, on the contrary, increase the steering effort and make the shock absorbers stiffer.

In Sport mode, the white dashboard illumination changes to red, the steering wheel becomes "heavy", the response to pressing the accelerator pedal and the response of the adaptive headlights are sharpened. Moreover, the driver through on-board computer can disable one of these parameters by adjusting the Sport mode to suit you. Tour mode is the most comfortable. In it, the reactions to the steering wheel are noticeably lengthened, the irregularities of the road are no longer transmitted to the body, and in sharp turns the car begins to roll. In extreme situations, the system automatically adjusts the suspension stiffness to provide the best handling and safety, regardless of the mode selected.

In September 2010, at the Paris Motor Show, the premiere of the elegant station wagon Opel Astra Sports Tourer that combines first-class functionality with an athletic body and stylish design. The model shares the same styling as the 5-door hatchback and features flowing yet athletic shapes and curved side lines. The Astra Sports Tourer's impeccable profile and side embossing add a sense of speed to the Astra Sports Tourer, while the powerful shoulder line flows neatly into the elegantly crafted taillights. The station wagon took the design features of the 105.7-inch wheelbase from the hatchback, additionally acquiring increased payload rates and much more interior space.

Opel has developed the FlexFold rear seating system, which allows each section of the rear row to be moved at the touch of a button located on the side panel of the luggage compartment. The button automatically activates the quick folding of the rear seats in a 60/40 ratio. The Opel Astra Sports Tourer is the first C-class car to be equipped with such a system. Luggage compartment volumes vary from 500 to 1550 liters. The Easy-Access Cargo Cover, borrowed from the luxury models, opens the luggage compartment cover with a light push.

The Astra Sports Tourer features high-quality interior trim. For comfortable long-distance travel, the car is equipped with ergonomic front seats certified by independent spinal experts from Aktion Gesunder Rűcken (AGR), the German medical association that has established orthopedic requirements for car seats.

The Watt's innovative rear axle suspension used in the 5-door Opel Astra also benefits from the rear axle of the new station wagon: it provides a reliable level of handling and high adaptability to increased weight loads. Flexride adaptive suspensions will be offered as an option for the most demanding drivers.

If we talk about the technical characteristics of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer, then the range of power units for the station wagon contains 8 engines that combine efficiency, strength, functionality and environmental friendliness. The maximum power is in the range of 95 hp. up to 180 hp

The presence of a standard towing device and trailer stabilization system Trailer Stability Assist completes the list of offered options. In addition, Opel engineers are developing a new generation of FlexFix integrated bike racks, which will be unveiled at a later date.

In 2011, Opel launched the second generation of the three-door Astra GTC hatchback. The car stands out for its original design and excellent handling. Compared to the five-door version of the Astra, the ground clearance is reduced by 15 mm, the front wheel track is 1584 mm, which is 40 mm more, the rear - 1588 mm, an addition of 30 mm, and the wheelbase has grown by 10 mm - up to 2695 mm. This allows the GTC to be fitted with larger wheel diameters (17 to 20 inches) for increased stability and a sportier appearance.

There are some similarities with the 5-door version of the Opel Astra, but the two cars do not have one in common body parts! Because everything has changed, from the facial expression to the tilt of the body pillars and even the chassis.

Excellent dynamics and first-class handling are achieved through a unique chassis design. Like the coolest Opel insignia OPC, modified MacPherson struts are used in the front suspension of the Astra GTC. Only here they are called HiPer Strut (from High Performance). Their main difference is the steering knuckle separated from the rack. Its lateral tilt angle is less than that of the all-rotary strut, which reduces the camber angle when cornering. The patch of their contact with the asphalt becomes larger, and turns can be done faster. The steering knuckle itself is shorter than the strut, which reduces the steering sensitivity to shocks. The front suspension is perfectly matched to the sophisticated rear suspension system with Watt's mechanism, Opel's patented technology. The Astra GTC chassis is specially designed to integrate with the intelligent FlexRide adaptive suspension control system. It improves road stability, cornering stability and handling by automatically adapting to road conditions, vehicle speed and individual driving style. In addition, the FlexRide system allows you to select one of three chassis modes and change the behavior of the car at the touch of a button: at any time you can choose the balanced Standard mode, the comfortable Tour or the more active Sport.

The Opel Astra GTC is offered with a choice of four engines, three of which are petrol and one diesel. If the five-door engine range starts from 95 hp, then here from 120 hp.

These are the petrol 1.4-liter turbo, already known from the five-door, in versions 120 and 140 hp. Fuel consumption 5.9 liters per 100 km. The CO2 emissions are 139 g / km. The most powerful petrol engine is a 1.6-liter turbocharged version with 180 hp, which can reach speeds of up to 220 km / h, it is presented with a six-speed manual transmission.

The most promising engine for Europe, the 2.0 CDTi turbodiesel with Start-Stop mode, produces five forces and as much as 30 Nm more than a five-door: 165 hp. and 380 Nm. Opel Astra GTC 2.0 CDTI is capable of reaching a speed of 210 kilometers per hour, accelerating from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 8.9 seconds, while consuming 4.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. The CO2 emissions are 129 g / km.

Despite its attractive coupé-style design, the Astra GTC doesn't sacrifice functionality. The car can accommodate not only five passengers, but also has a trunk with a volume of 370 to 1 235 liters. Storage space has increased by 50% over the previous generation GTC, thanks in large part to the electric parking brake, which has freed up space in the most accessible part of the passenger compartment, the center tunnel.

The second generation Opel Eye TV camera is called to assist the driver. In addition to participating in the alarm about falling out of the lane, she learned to recognize more road signs and determine the distance to the car in front (depending on it, she also gives a command to switch the bi-xenon light from high to low).

Opel Astra is a small family car (niche "C" -class in the European category), which is announced in two 5-door versions (hatchback and station wagon), as well as a 4-door sedan. The model has a stylish design, competitive technical "stuffing" and an excellent level of practicality. The whole.

The car is focused on buyers who want to have a modern car, but at a reasonable cost. Not so long ago, a new fifth generation of the Opel Astra (K) was born. This happened in the fall of 2015 during an international exhibition in Frankfurt. Interestingly, the Opel company decided to early declassify its new product in early June.

The vehicle retained the proportions of the previous model, however, it became brighter, lighter and more technologically advanced in all respects. Following the official presentation, the hatchback should reach the shelves of European dealers, but for our buyers the car is unlikely to reach. This is due to the recent departure of the brand from the Russian market.

Car history

First generation Astra F (1991-1997)

The debut family of cars of the compact class Opel Astra, produced since July 1991. Fall 1994 vehicle has undergone minor improvements. The car was produced in Poland under the name Astra Classic. The Opel Astra (F) serves as the successor to the Opel Cadet (E) and is the sixth version in the Kadett / Astra series.

After the 1994 update, they began to produce an upgraded version of the Astra (F) machine, which received improved corrosion protection. It's nice that the company took into account the desire of buyers and allowed the installation of a four-speed automatic gearbox of the Japanese company Aisin AW as an option.

Like other Opel cars that were produced in previous years, the Astra (F) body did not have a zinc protective coating, however, the quality of the paintwork was quite good. This moment allowed the company to provide a guarantee for its products for 6 years. It touched the body, or to be more precise, its immunity to rust.

In addition to the 3- and 5-door body, the Opel Astra had a sedan and station wagon version. A small amount of a 3-door station wagon was produced (this version did not have glazing). It is also very rare to find the Opel Astra model in the back of a convertible, which has been produced since 1993 at the facilities of the enterprise.

A small amount produced a 3-door station wagon

As mentioned above, 3 years after the presentation of the car, a modernization was carried out. Thanks to the update, new turn signals and a radiator grill began to be installed. If earlier the turn signals were orange, then the restyling changed them to white.

The exterior of the Opel Astra (F) of the 1st family is called calm and a bit classic. It will not be superfluous to note that this model does not differ in an inflated price tag, therefore, when choosing inexpensive cars, many prefer a European, and not or.

It is very pleasant that after the 1994 update, all Opel Astra (F), even in the basic version, had a hydraulic power steering. In addition, the minimum equipment had front power windows.

Opel Astra Convertible

The basic music system of the German car has 4 speakers. Even then, the German company was seriously concerned about the level of safety, equipping its models with belt tensioners with igniters, which, together with the front Airbags, available in the minimum configuration, significantly increased the level of safety in the first generation of the Opel Astra (F).

If we talk about the ventilation system, then it had air recirculation, blocking the path of the outside air to the inside. The following year 1995, the debut version had a new front panel. Salon "German" had a clear and understandable dashboard, which displayed the main data of the car.

The steering wheel was large and comfortable. To the left of it was a "twist" of lighting with an adjustment function, as well as buttons for turning on the front and rear fog lights. The front seats are quite comfortable and have good lateral support.

The center console received a "pocket" of small size, at the end of which information about the time, date and temperature overboard was displayed. The back of the rear sofa, according to the owners of the first generation Opel Astra, turned out to be short. The sedan version was equipped with a luggage compartment with a capacity of 500 liters. The three- and five-door hatchback boasted only 360 liters of usable space.

From the very beginning, only gasoline power units with a volume of 1.4 to 2.0 liters were installed on German cars. All engines had an electronic fuel supply system, however, some markets may see the first carburetor motors, such as 14NV 1.4 liters, which developed 75 horsepower. The cars began to be equipped with a diesel power plant 3 months after the car was released.

Initially, only one diesel engine was available - 17YD 1.7 liters, developing 57 "horses". The transmission can be a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic (Aisin).

It is noteworthy that the Opel Astra (F) 1st generation had a wide range of active and passive safety systems. During the design of the machine with the help of a computer, specialists were able to calculate the stiffeners. The body was torsional strength. Installed height-adjustable seat belts.

The seats, along with the seat belt anchorages, were designed to prevent slipping of the person sitting under the belt. Astra (F) had an optional owner airbag. At the end of 1994, 2 airbags began to be installed serially. Electronics, in the form of an anti-lock braking system, could be installed optionally until the very end of the car's production.

As for the suspension, it was moderately soft and comfortable, and with the help of the anti-roll bar front and rear, the cars kept the road well. An independent suspension of the McPherson type was installed in front, and a semi-independent suspension in the back, where springs and shock absorbers were installed separately.

The steering wheel had a rack and pinion mechanism and was distinguished by acceptable information content. As a brake system, disc devices were installed in front, and a drum mechanism at the back.

Second generation Astra G (1998-2004)

In 1997, during the next Frankfurt Motor Show, the second Opel Astra family, which received the index (G), was presented for the first time. Interestingly, they decided not to take anything from the previous generation - it was a redesigned car.

Production of the 2nd generation Opel Astra was stopped in 2004, but the car continued to be sold in Russia until the first half of 2005. This option is called more "compartment" in terms of design. The novelty began its life as a 3- and 5-door hatchback of the C-segment, there was also a station wagon, a convertible, a coupe and a sedan known to many.

The fully galvanized body is one of the factors that made the 2nd Astra family a revolutionary machine. Chassis, ergonomics, design, body, all decided to radically revise and design almost anew. They decided not to change only the ideology of the model - the possibility of a complete set for any stylistic decision, character, temperament and financial condition of a person.

The release of the Asters in the coupe and convertible was carried out by a firm from Italy - Bertone. Drag coefficient German car in the "sedan" version was 0.29. The convertible with the roof down received only a slightly increased figure - 0.32.

The cone-shaped style of the 2nd generation Opel Astra has bright corporate features, in which vehicles from Rüsselheim can clearly be recognized. The result is a truly stylish car. The soft curves of the surfaces, which contrast with the edges and lines, do not lose the integrity of the previous Astra models.

The body also has a sporty touch. They decided to move the windshield forward by 120 millimeters, which made it possible to emphasize the wedge-shaped body type, visually reducing the dimensions of the hood. The salon turned out to be simple and concise. Among the innovations, we can name the presence of a liquid crystal display of the board computer and an airbag for the passenger.

If we compare the new product with its "cramped" predecessor, then the 2nd generation Opel Astra turned out to be more spacious. It often happens that due to significant temperature differences inside the car and outside, it can crack windshield... Even the management of the company itself recognized the problem of insufficient glass strength and quite often replaced the front glass under warranty.

The designers decided to borrow the pedal assembly from (B), and this is expressed in the fact that in a serious collision the pedals are disconnected, and this, in turn, does not give them the opportunity to "go" into the salon. The basic version of the Opel Astra (G) has a driver's airbag, however, you can often find 4 and even 6 Airbags.

The luggage compartment of the German-made 3- and 5-door hatchback received 370 liters of usable space. The sedan has a capacity of 460 liters, and the record volume belongs to the station wagon - 480 liters. However, this is not all, if necessary, this figure can be significantly increased to 1,500 liters if the rear backrests are folded.

The list of power units has economical gasoline engines, in the amount of 6 copies and a couple of diesel engines. The petrol list starts from 1.2-liter (65/48 horsepower) to 2.0-liter (136/100 "horsepower"). Such power plants comply with the Euro 3 toxicity standards, which came into force in 2001.

Diesel engines received a volume of 1.7 liters, designed for 68 and 50 horsepower, as well as 2.0 liters, which develop 82 and 60 "horses". The newest ECOTEC engine division has 1.2 and 1.8-liter petrol units and a 2.0-liter "engine". They are distinguished by a four-valve valve timing mechanism and direct fuel injection.

Opel engine Astra Eco4

On top of that, the 2.0-liter version has two balance shafts to increase the smoothness of its operation. The synchronizer is a 4-speed (Japanese company Aisin) or 5-speed manual gearbox with a hydraulic clutch drive. The chassis structure has received major improvements.

At the front, aluminum McPherson struts and a tubular subframe (on which the motor is installed) are used, and the rear part received a torsion beam. Optional springs, gas shock absorbers and DSA system. The braking system has disc braking devices, and in front they received a ventilation function.

The standard equipment has ABS from another well-known German company Bosch. Opel Astra (G) turned out to be actually practical and safe. The employees of the company were able to work out the structure in the field of security. During a collision of a vehicle with an obstacle, the power unit goes under the bottom, and thanks to the directional deformation of the body, it is possible to save the necessary living space inside the car.

In a side impact, passengers are protected by load-bearing beams hidden under the door trim. Built-in protection system saves life in critical situations. It has two full-size airbags for the driver and passenger, airbags in the backs of the front seats, and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners. By using steel of improved quality, it was possible to almost double the torsional and bending stiffness of the body.

Third generation Astra H (2004-2009)

The third version of the Opel Astra was officially presented in 2004 in Istanbul. They decided to assign it an index (H). The new model lasted on the automotive market until 2010, after which it gave way to the new Opel Astra (J).

The release of the third generation was launched at the Polish enterprise, and since 2008 in Russia. Opel Astra (H) competitors are Kia cerato I , Mazda 3 of the first version, Chevrolet Lacetti and other vehicles produced in previous years.

The bodywork spectrum of the German car included a five-door hatchback, a three-door GTC hatchback, and the Astra TwinTop coupe-convertible. The exterior was worked on by the director of the Opel design studio in Rüsselsheim - Friedhelm Engler, who also worked on the Opel Corsa and other vehicles of the company.

If we talk about a dynamic "shoulder" line and a streamlined roof, a wide base with small overhangs, stylish headlights with lanterns and embossed contours of arches, then it is they who can make this car one of the most attractive golf-class players. It is also important that the third generation Opel Astra (H) is a fairly "free" option, suitable for both men and women.

This is not only because of the design. “The five-door is utilitarian, despite its bright and catchy originality. The vehicle is simple and undemanding to operate, and the interior will not get bored. It is very funny that the Opel Astra's drag coefficient (H) did not decrease, as in the previous model, but increased.

Now this figure was 0.32 versus 0.29 for the old version. In addition, the new product has become 60 kilograms heavier, and the wheelbase has increased by 8 millimeters. In addition to the popular hatchback version, a sedan was also produced, which was also liked by many motorists. The body of the German vehicle was covered with a protective layer of zinc, however, based on the feedback from the owners, questions about the quality of painting still appeared.

Opel Astra TwinTop

The interior is made in German style. The center console is not loaded with buttons, and the dashboard, made in the same style as the hood, is “bifurcated” in a kind of “keel”. As for the materials of the upholstery, they are soft and pleasant to the touch. Separately, the door panels, which are covered with artificial leather and stitched with stylish white threads, can please.

Thanks to the comfortable seats of the 3rd generation Opel Astra, you can easily tune in to the trip, relax and unwind. The pedals have a soft and light stroke. The steering wheel is electrically powered.

There is enough free space, but nothing more. The luggage compartment of the sedan and station wagon versions is surprisingly the same - 490 liters. The five-door hatchback received 375 liters, and the Opel Astra H GTC version received 340 liters of storage space. Only the convertible version has the smallest trunk - 205 liters.

From 2004 to 2008, the German car was equipped with gasoline-powered engines with the following technical characteristics:

  • 1.4 liters (75 "horses);
  • 1.6 (105 horsepower);
  • 1.8 (125 horsepower).

There was also a diesel 1.7-liter version, designed for 101 horsepower. When it was restyled (in 2007), production continued with motors:

  • 1.4 (90 horsepower),
  • 1.6 (105 "horses"
  • 1.8 (140 "hooves").

The diesel side was represented by two diesels - a 1.7-liter CDTI, which developed 125 "horses" and a 1.3-liter, which produced 90 horsepower. All gasoline installations use a belt in the gas distribution mechanism, which must be replaced every 90,000 - 110,000 kilometers.

A separate "individual" is considered a version of the OCR representing sports model Opel Astra (N). It has a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine capable of delivering 240 horsepower.

Such "engines" work together with mechanical, robotic and automatic transmissions. They can be installed on any body at the request of the buyer. All torque is transmitted from the box only to the front wheels. The suspension turned out to be assembled and a little stiff, which is well reflected in fast cornering by the absence of roll and the quick reaction of the chassis to the actions of the steering wheel.

Opel Astra (H) sedan

Stands ahead independent suspension, such as McPherson, and a semi-independent torsion bar at the back. As mentioned above, the steering wheel is electrically powered. The braking system is represented by ventilated disc front devices and rear disc mechanisms.
A version of the Opel Astra Family was also produced - representing the sedan body and the Opel Astra Family Station Wagon, in the station wagon body. The basic equipment of the Essentia hatchback has:

  • Front and side airbags;
  • Fog lights;
  • Electric windows;
  • Power steering wheel;
  • Heated mirrors;
  • Air conditioner;
  • Audio system;
  • Central lock;
  • Signaling;
  • Immobilizer.

This version has a 1.6-liter 115-horsepower engine and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Fourth generation Astra J (2009-2014)

The fourth family was demonstrated for the first time during the Frankfurt fair in 2009. In the role of the "firstborn" was a model in the back of a 5-door hatchback. When the summer of 2012 came, this option, along with all representatives of the "generation J", underwent a slight restyling.

Appearance

It's no secret that German specialists are distinguished by their accuracy and pedantry, which can be seen in the appearance of the car. The headlights are reminiscent of eagle eyes. It's nice that they have an LED garland, which has become very fashionable today.

Achieve elegant appearance for the Opel Astra Jay of the fourth generation, it was possible with the help of a squat shape and front struts that flow smoothly out of the hood. To create an impression of lightness and not "sporty power", the design team decided to equip the model with a wide air intake under the front bumper, as well as to emphasize the power of the shoulder line.

This made it possible to bring some revival to the exterior of the car. You can also highlight a demonstrative element of stamping in the form of a blade at the rear doors, as well as a meander going up and a visual transition to the C-pillar.

Such moments allowed to create the visibility of the boundaries of the interior and visually define the dynamism and perspective, giving the rear wheel arches a massive look. The rear end of the Opel Astra (J) is recognizable only by the headlights, which have a sustained style in the form of a double wing.

Salon

Turning your attention to the interior of the "German", you can see all the main advantages and disadvantages that are common to all cars of this brand. German specialists have worked it out well. There is no mixture of different stylistic solutions, lumpiness, an abundance of combinations of materials, "zakos" under the skin, different motley inserts - everything is done in a neat and harmonious style.

As for the dashboard, it looks quite simple, but stylish at the same time. Expressiveness is enhanced by inserts in aluminum look on the steering wheel, doors and center console. But there are complaints about the quality of performance of some elements.

For example, the door trim and dashboard received inserts made of oak plastic, which is a little rough. The glove compartment lid does not close tightly, emitting a slight backlash. Fabric upholstery in some places may already lose its "marketable" appearance even before the sale. The center console has an onboard computer screen, a "music" control unit and 2-zone climate control.

What was a little surprised was the introduction of the on / off buttons for stabilization systems, the function of heating the steering wheel, turning on and off parking sensors, and even a button for turning on the sport mode. The build quality is pleasantly pleasing. For example, the door closes quietly and gently, which is not typical for this class of car.

If the early models had poor noise isolation, then the 4th generation has already got rid of this problem. The company decided to invest heavily in the purchase of improved sound insulation, which is easy to see if you look at the doors and door seals. Among other things, I would like to highlight the unusual "climate" deflectors, capable of maximally dissipating air flows.

The Opel Astra J sports seats are a great example of how you need to worry about the comfort level of people sitting in a car.

There are a lot of buttons, so you will have to figure out what and how, as well as get used to them. Under them there are compartments for keeping your phone safe with a cigarette lighter socket and support for a USB connector and AUX input. Placed next to the selector "machine", which borders on the on / off button for the parking brake.

Thanks to the installation of an electronic handbrake, it was possible to free up space for a compartment used as a cup holder. There is an armrest. Generally speaking, the German specialists "stuffed" the car with pleasant elements enough. I especially wanted to say about the illumination of the interior decoration.

The door handles, together with the gearbox selector, received a red backlight, and if you activate the sport mode, the entire "tidy" changes its color. It all looks really cool, especially in the dark - the hatchback becomes cozy, romantic and at the same time aggressive.

Saying that there is a lot of free space in a hatchback will not work, despite the thinner back of the front seat and the increase in passenger space in width. The second row of seats received enough free space, which makes it possible to feel more comfortable, but nothing more.

The rear seat cushion is placed too low, causing real discomfort. The luggage compartment of the Opel Astra (J) has received 370 liters of usable space, but if necessary, the rear seat backs can be folded, which will already provide 1 235 liters.

The trunk is very functional and practical. It has hooks for securing loads, lighting, a removable shelf, a dock with tools under a dense raised floor, as well as comfortable handles and more. What the Germans did not take into account was the large loading height.

Specifications

The fourth generation has engines with a capacity of 95 to 180 "horses". Five motors from this list are supplied to the Russian market. The petrol line is represented by a 1.4-liter 100-horsepower and a 1.6-liter 115-horsepower "engine". In the city, fuel consumption ranges from 8.3-8.7, and on the highway from 5.1-5.3 liters per hundred.

The first hundred kilometers is reached by the weakest motor in 11.9 seconds. These power units have turbocharged versions from 140 - 180 horsepower. The 140-horsepower version requires not so much gasoline, compared to the "younger" versions: in the city from 8.0-9.1, outside the city from 5.2-5.4 liters for every 100 km.

Opel Astra J engine

The most powerful version in the city "eats" about 9.9 liters of gasoline, and 5.6 on the highway. It can reach the 100 km / h mark in just 9 seconds. Provides a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 160 "mares". Such installations work together with a 5- and 6-speed manual transmission, as well as with a 6-speed "automatic".

The chassis, which works on the mechatronic system, was installed for the first time in the Opel Astra (J). In front is the standard McPherson struts suspension, and in the back there is a semi-independent beam, combined with Watt's device. With this suspension, it is possible to provide solid agility and stability during cornering, while maintaining comfort.

The designers have equipped the "German" with an adaptive suspension FlexRide (optionally installed), which has 3 modes of operation: Standart, Sport, and Tour (comfort). Such electronics allow you to change the setting of the suspension, the power steering and the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal.

Security

Since the car is positioned as a family car, the level of safety must be appropriate. Looking ahead, I want to say that the engineering staff of the Opel company was able to take care of this. Provides for the presence of 4 airbags, curtain airbags (optional), child mounts Isofix, ABS, EBD, ESP, HHC. Based on the passed crash tests from Euro-NCAP, the model received its deserved 5 stars for safety.

Price and configuration

There are 3 fixed configurations available to our customers: Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo. The basic version in 2012 was estimated at 599,900 rubles. She received availability:

  • Electric heated mirrors,
  • Front power windows,
  • Adjustable steering column,
  • Electric amplifier "steering wheel"
  • CD 300 radio tape recorders,
  • Onboard computer display on the dashboard,
  • 16-inch "rollers",

  • Signaling,
  • Electric amplifier,
  • ABS, ESP and many other helpers designed to make life easier for the owner.

Fifth generation Astra K (2017 - present)

The world show of the freshest, fifth in a row, the Opel Astra family of 2016-2017 took place only in the fall of 2015 in the German city of Frankfurt. The novelty will be produced at factories in England and Poland. The vehicle was able to maintain the ratios of the previous generation, however, it became brighter, lighter and much more technologically advanced in all respects.

Exterior

The exterior of the Opel Astra 5 has many stylistic features that are similar to the conceptual version of the Monza and the "younger" Corsa of the last family. Whereas previously there was a conservative look, now there are bright and daring design lines, along with sharp edges.

The nose of the five-door hatchback Opel Astra (K) has stylish lighting technology (as a separate option, you can install matrix headlights with LED filling IntelliLUX) and a sculpted bumper with pronounced aerodynamic shapes.

Interestingly, the optional installation of LED headlights implies the location of 8 LED elements in each headlight, which works in conjunction with the Opel Eye camera located in the nose area. Continuing the theme of matrix headlights, they, using an electronic unit, are able to analyze data from the camera and adjust the length and saturation of the light beam depending on the position on the road and the presence of other cars on the roadway.

"Fog" Opel Astra (K) 2017 have new technologies and are distinguished by the ability to penetrate heavy fog, which significantly increases safety while driving.

The exterior of the "German", which represents the interests of Opel in a very competitive niche of the C-class, emits dynamism and pressure, multiplied by modern technologies of automotive production. The hatchback looks modern and perky from any side.

The body is in perfect harmony with sharp ribs and embossings, striking aerodynamic fairings and stylish lighting, as well as sophisticated lines and curves. The front end has an elongated bonnet and a volumetric radiator grille, where there are chrome inserts.

The aerodynamic front bumper has a non-standard rectangular fog lamp. The dynamic appearance is manifested by the expressive ribs on the sides, the actively sloping roof and blackened C-pillars, creating a "floating roof" effect.

The doors installed at the back with an ascending sill line, which tends to ascend upwards, are very impressive. Adding charm to the already mentioned elements are the exterior mirrors mounted on sturdy legs, an attractive rib placed at the level of the door handles, the correct radii of the wheel arches, the neat design of the stern, which is decorated with modern pointed shades, which also received LED filling.

Along the top edge of the glass, you can see the chrome edging. The Germans decided to install 17-inch alloy wheels with a redesigned design. The back of the Opel Astra (K) 2016 is the subject of many controversies and disagreements, since it suits some and even appeals to them, while others do not.

There are narrow LED optics on the line that connects the rear to the roof. The upper part of the body has a small spoiler. The stern bumper is solid, thanks to the smooth stamping lines. The luggage compartment lid is compact.

Interior

The interior decoration of the 2016 Opel Astra (K) has no less grandiose transformations than the exterior - almost everything is new here, from design to finishing materials. The driver is immediately presented with a "dense" steering wheel, which has a design in the form of three spokes, as well as a scattering of control elements.

Behind it you can see the analogue instrument cluster, where there is a large multifunction display located between the speedometer and tachometer. The steering column is adjustable for height and reach. In the central part of the hatchback's cabin, there is an IntelliLink multimedia complex with an 8-inch touchscreen (supported by Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto).

He was able to absorb the abundance of physical keys and switches, which made it possible to save the torpedo from unnecessary workload. The climatic situation inside the "German" car is regulated by a separate unit with a pair of massive "handles" and keys.
It is worth admitting that the arrangement of standard configurations is a little simpler - there is a conventional radio, air conditioner and a simplified steering wheel.

According to the German automaker, the novelty has high-quality finishing materials that match more prestigious cars. So that the driver and front passenger can comfortably sit inside, they have provided high-quality anatomical seats, where there is a pronounced profile.

Depending on the equipment chosen, the seats can be set up to 18 settings, ventilation, heating and massage functions. Salon Opel Astra (K) showcases new door cards with comfortable armrests and compact handles. The plastic on the dashboard is soft and pleasant to the touch, the plastic does not squeak, and the gaps fit perfectly.

For the rear passengers, the designers have increased the free space (by 35 millimeters), and as a separate option, you can install the rear sofa heating function. However, all the same, the three of us will no longer be so comfortable. The central armrest is not provided and there are no air vents, but as a separate option, you can put a USB port.

The luggage compartment turned out to be ideal in shape, and its volume was 370 liters. If necessary, the rear backrests can be folded to the same level with the floor, which already provides 1 210 liters of usable space. The spare wheel was placed in a compartment under the floor. It is of a small size and is installed in the center. Electric drive also not provided.

Specifications Astra K

Power unit

For the fifth family of the German hatchback, the presence of diesel and gasoline engines Ecotec, from 95 to 200 horsepower. The list starts with a petrol 3-cylinder version with a 1.0-liter volume, which has turbocharging and direct injection.

It develops 105 "horses" at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of peak thrust in the range from 1,800-4,250 rpm. The power unit consumes about 4.3-4.4 liters for every 100 kilometers in the combined cycle.

Next up is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1.4-liter engine that develops 100 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of thrust starting at 4,400 rpm. The "appetite" of this variant is about 5.4 liters for every 100 kilometers in highway / city mode.

The third on the list is the performance version, which is a full-fledged aluminum 4-cylinder turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, which received direct fuel supply. This "engine" has several levels of forcing. In the "junior" version, it develops 125 "horses" at 5,600 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm.

The "older" version received 150 "hooves" and 230 Nm with a similar number of revolutions. This "engine" consumes 5.1-5.5 liters in medium mode. The 5th generation Astra also has a four-cylinder diesel turbocharged 1.6-liter engine in 3 boost versions - 95, 110 and 136 hp. (280, 300 and 320 Nm, respectively). Such an engine consumes from 3.5 to 4.6 liters of diesel fuel, which is a rather modest figure.

In addition, for the German hatchback, they decided to introduce improved engines that run both on gasoline and diesel fuel. The volume will be 1.6 liters, and such power units will be produced up to 200 "horses".

Transmission

A car with a 1.0-liter "engine" is synchronized with a 5-speed manual or 5-band robotic gearbox. Such a merger promises to accelerate the hatchback from zero to 100 km / h in 11.2-12.7 seconds, and the top speed will be at 200 kilometers per hour. And for the 1.4-liter atmospheric unit, only one mechanical 5-speed box was provided, which accelerates the car to the first hundred in 12.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is 185 kilometers per hour.

Turbocharged aluminum engines operate with two boxes. For the "junior" they provided a 6-speed manual, and for the "senior" also a 6-band automatic transmission. You can accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.3-9.5 seconds, and the top speed will be 205-215 kilometers per hour.

For the diesel version, a 6-speed "mechanics" and an automatic transmission are installed in the role of a pair. The first hundred is given in 9.6-12.7 seconds, and the maximum speed is 185-205 km / h. All motors transmit all torque to the front wheels only.

Chassis

The new five-door version of the German 5th family car was built on the completely new modular D2XX platform, which underlies the latest generation Chevrolet Cruze. The new modular bogie made it possible to reduce the weight of the vehicle's monocoque body by 20 percent and the chassis weight by 50 kilograms when compared with the previous generation models.

As a result, the curb weight of the 2016-2017 Opel Astra (K) turned out to be 120-200 kilograms less than the Astra (J) version. The exact weight depends on the selected equipment and equipment level. As with all current models, there is a McPherson-type independent suspension in front, and a transverse beam at the back, where there are shock absorbers, springs and an anti-roll bar.

The steering has an electric booster. The braking system received disc brakes on all wheels (the front ones support the ventilation function), as well as modern electronic "assistants".

Safety Astra K

The Opel specialists developed the security system independently. 9 systems are envisaged and all of them fully meet modern criteria. The systems function a little differently when compared to previous versions. For example, the electronics that control the blind spots are not based on cameras, but on radar sensors.

There is an active system that can follow the markings on the road. In the event that the vehicle leaves the lane, the system will steer, returning the car to its place. As a matter of practice, electronics function confidently. Opel Astra (K) is capable of independently avoiding collisions. The car is able to recognize a dangerous approach, and at a speed of up to 40 km / h can independently brake without the participation of the owner.

When the hatchback is driven at an increased speed, a beep is emitted for the driver to respond to. If this does not happen, the electronics begin to slow down at the last moment. As a result, even if it is not possible to get away from the collision, the harm will be minimized due to the fact that the force of the impact will not be the same, due to the reduced speed.

The work of systems that monitor the lane markings on the road, recognize obstacles on the go, recognize road signs, as well as the headlights of the LED filling work based on the data of the camera installed in the upper part of the front glass.

Passive safety includes the use of high-strength steel, a rigid safety cage, elements with programmed deformation, crushable elements and parts with predetermined collision force propagation paths. There are also seat belt pretensioners for the front seats, curtains and airbags.

Pedal Emergency Disconnect Service (PRS), is able to automatically disconnect the pedal mounts in order to prevent injury to the driver's feet and legs in the event of a serious accident. The fifth generation, during the EuroNCAP tests, received the well-deserved 5 stars for ensuring the safety of not only the driver and passengers sitting next to him, but also other road users. We are pleased with the availability of automated parking and a blind spot monitoring system.

Price and configuration Astra К

Unfortunately, the German-made novelty will not reach the Russian market, since the company has officially decided to leave the domestic market. But our neighbors in Ukraine will sell models. There are two complete sets in total: Essentia and Enjoy ... In Europe, the 5th generation Opel Astra (K) hatchback can be purchased from 17,260 to 21,860 euros.

The basic equipment included the presence of fabric interior decoration, two power windows, a CD player with six speakers, a steering wheel amplifier, ABS, ESP, front and side airbags, cruise control, air conditioning and a folding back of the rear sofa.

"Top" options already have front and rear cameras, the function of electric adjustment of the front seats, LED headlights for front lighting and taillights, parking sensors front and rear, dual-zone "climate control", 17-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and gearshift knob, front armrest and more.

Comparison with competitors

The golf class is a fairly densely "populated" segment, so the Opel Astra has plenty of rivals. This includes the overtaking in sales, as well as the Chevrolet Cruze, the ancestor of the class, Hyundai i30, KIA Cee’d, Honda Civic, and other vehicles.
