It is not surprising that the management of the auto concern seriously considered the possibility of abandoning plans for these modifications. And when information from Kolesa.ru got into the network, which happened in 2014, about the decision of the then head of AvtoVAZ, Bu Inge Andersson, to abandon plans to create a station wagon and, accordingly, his version of Cross, suspicions began to grow into confidence.

Later, the journalists got hold of documents stating the start of the serial assembly of the car in August 2016, after which one could expect an early launch into the Cross series. However, the amended document contained only plans for a hatchback and a sedan.

The ambiguity of the situation was aggravated by various theories with which fans of the brand tried to explain the actions of the management of the concern. It was believed that the assembly of Vesta in such a body is being delayed due to the lack of free capacity or due to the rapid growth in the popularity of SUVs.

The fortune-telling stopped only when Steve Mattin and Boo Andersson invited media representatives to a closed demonstration of the station wagon and hatchback. Although it was forbidden to take pictures, there were minimal differences from the sedan, taking into account the new body, of course.

Many hoped that 2016 would be decisive, but the August MIAS was marked only by the demonstration of a cross-modification of the car, and it was a concept, so it was not worth expecting that it would go into production in the same form.

There is still no exact information about the characteristics of the Lada Vesta Cross, but with a high degree of probability the car will receive the same engines that were provided for the X Ray and Vesta sedans, namely, a domestic gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 and 1.8 liters ( their capacity is 106 and 126 liters. from. respectively), as well as the foreign unit Nissan HR16, with a capacity of 114 liters. from.

The engines will work in tandem with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-range robotic box gear. The manufacturer does not exclude that in the future the car may receive an all-wheel drive modification. However, the manufacturer's representatives explain that the 4x4 version is not a priority.

The production of the car was planned to begin in September 2016, but with the appointment of a new management, everything changed: company representatives said that the model would not be able to get onto the conveyor until the beginning of 2017. The main reason for the delay was the problem with the suppliers of components. Sales start approximately three months after the start of production.

It is also not clear what the vehicle will be equipped with. It is possible that there will be three of them by analogy with the sedan.
