First impressions

What did I buy ?! The doors close terribly (the service did not fix the situation in an hour, so I took it). I found several cracks in the paintwork on the body, some already had rust!

On the move - a cross between a truck and a tractor - the engine growls, the razdatka howls, the gearbox echoes them, the steering wheel is heavy, the suspension is just wooden, there is no clarity of the gearbox, the third one will turn on the hell!

Salon - I knew it was Spartan, but so much! About ergonomics ... - it simply does not exist! Here are just some of the points that struck me the most:

Under the panel there is a "recirculation" lever that raises the oval flap in front))) When it is really hot - you can open a special hatch from the bottom of the stove and all the heat will go directly under the stove, but how! In general, the stove is terribly primitive, noisy, but warm.

"Torpedo" - just iron, on the side panels the skin of dirty blue dermantine. All the minimal trim of the passenger compartment on uncovered screws.

As a person who is familiar with UAZs mainly from reading forums on the UAZbuk and who has traveled a little on Patras, the first thoughts are - what did I buy ?!

The next day, having previously studied the UAZbuku, he drove it into the pit to stretch - in principle, everything important is normally delayed. I adjusted the gearbox drive, screwed everything up - the gears began to turn on more or less, the steering wheel became lighter. The oils in the engine and axles are normal, everything is beautiful - dry and clean. The distributor is sweating - it turned out that the level is higher than necessary (probably, as in the checkpoint), and the lid is not reached - pulled it up. The rest of the fluids are normal.

The design of the door locks, like everything else in this car, is simple - disassembled, missed, adjusted, assembled - it is normal for the UAZ to close steel.

First off-road

Passability for standard rubber (KAMA-219) not bad - it rushes normally on shallow virgin snow, dugs in when turning, but easily jumps out of the swing.

On big potholes, it rides resiliently, with some kind of indifference not only to the road, but also to the passengers. Regardless of the quality of the road, nothing strumming or rattling, maybe because of the general background noise, or maybe because there is simply nothing, only the springs in the seats under the riders creak.

Engine

Bad! At the bottom it pulls not very much, but if you do not hesitate to press the trigger and twist - it tears! This is not very good off-road, but on the road the dynamics for such a cart is impressive, it feels like it approaches front-wheel drive vases! And this is on a strangled 409.10 engine, but if you change it to dynamic firmware or at least just to Patriot's one ?!

In general, a motor with a 16-valve plate under the hood, hydraulic lifters and a 17th BOSH hanging on the wall looks like a foreign body in this archaic car.

Front seats

The seats are comfortable and, despite only 1 adjustment (backrest tilt), I quite like the driving position, maybe because my height is the most average (177) and they designed the loaf just for him ?!

The steering wheel is tightly screwed on, but it's nice to grab onto it, throwing the body into the cockpit, and put your hands on it on the road. Front and side visibility is good. Back, despite the large mirrors, so-so, I still can't get used to the dimensions of the body.

Rear seats

On the 2nd row there is the sea, the 3rd big men in winter clothes - easy. The back seat is soft, comfortable enough for short-distance travel. His back rises and is suspended from the ceiling on belts and forms the second reserved seat berth! But how can you sleep on it when the ceiling is 40 cm. ?!

On the run

Despite the archaic suspension, it holds the road normally - at least at speeds up to 100 km / h (I haven't given more yet) the car goes exactly, does not require steering.

Uazovtsy did not become wise with the suspension - bridges with springs on 4 pillows and 4 shock absorbers and no stabilizers, rods, bearings, ball and other silent blocks, only excessively rigid springs. But such a scheme, in addition to simplicity, reliability and maintainability, has a big disadvantage - minimum comfort - the car is tough and rough.

Exploitation

Immediately for running in I put an electronic tachometer - BK-06 (only 550 rubles).

Consumption per 1000 km. according to the checks it was only 12-13 l / 100 km, which I think for an unrolled UAZ, with the front end turned on, very little in winter (although I do not exclude that I miscalculated somewhere).

Rethinking after 1000 km. mileage

The first shock has passed and… I start to like UAZ more and more! With its crude, primitive, oaky but honest and simple construction! Everything is simple, strong and clear.

I'm used to the steering wheel and the checkpoint, to the "ergonomics" too.
