Range Rover 3.6 diesel consumption. New comment

Owner review

Everyone has a different taste for SUVs. Someone raises the Land Cruiser to the skies, and someone does not see an alternative to Jeep. I am one of those who have a positive attitude towards Land Rover. I had a lot of imported cars. Now I go to Range rover Vog 2009 onwards and I don't need another car. After Kruzak you sit in the Range Rover - heaven and earth.

My Rover with 3.6 and 272 hp diesel This makes it possible to feel confident on the track, and not only. 8.5 seconds to 100 km / h is not a bad option for such a heavy SUV. The motor runs very quietly.

About the unpleasant. At 105 thousand km, the air suspension cushion slammed - I caught a serious hole, but stayed on the road. I will not say that I drive carefully, I hardly slow down on speed bumps. Very rarely there are glitches in the cold diesel engine... It is being treated - turned off and turned on the ignition. About the Range Rover, reviews also solve this problem.

He's superb on the move. Moreover, on the gravel road it goes much more pleasantly, you don't even want to go on the asphalt. At first I was surprised by the lack of switching the stiffness of this air suspension. But then it turned out that she was tuned in to "comfort" under any conditions, and no "sport". And I didn't really want to. Then it became enraged by the lack of ability of the Range Rover 2009 suspension to decrease automatically when increasing the speed and when choosing the Parking washer mode. My height is 172 cm and it looks like this: I parked, collect my clothes, phones around the cabin, while the turbine cools down, turn off the engine, go out - matz-matz with my foot, but there is no land. I forgot to lower the suspension, which means start again ... Do not worry, the British are not us, they know how to draw conclusions and Range Rover 4 comes with this mode.

In management, do not expect a drive from it - the steering wheel is light, it hardly pours heaviness at speed. If you reach for something in the cabin at speed, you can lose your course. But this is not annoying, as the driver must always look at the road.

The car was purchased to replace the 2005 TLC prado 120. 4.0L I traveled on it for more than 2 years and about 80t.km. It was the first SUV and left a favorable impression. In return, I wanted a fresher car with off-road characteristics and a better level of finish, equipment and comfort, since Pradik, to put it mildly, did not meet these criteria too much.

Auto searched from 3-5 summer options Vw touareg, Discovery, RRS and RR. The legends about the fragility of the Land Rovers were not too embarrassing: we live once and do not want to drive a car, only because it is considered less fragile than the rest. The fact that RR in service will be more expensive than the Prado understood from the start. A well-groomed diesel car with a transparent history was chosen at a price slightly higher than the market average. The diesel car was not chosen by chance: lower fuel consumption was not decisive, just after examining many copies I came to the conclusion that gasoline cars were chosen initially with the intention of annealing. In this regard, cars with "gasoline" were offered completely ushatanny.

Got about very convenient, versatile and comfortable auto is much better than in Prado interior and exterior decoration. Will go where most cars pass. During the period of operation, no particular problems have been delivered. The only abnormal situation is the coolant supply pipe burst. Tow truck, pipe replacement and into battle!

Maintenance is not a cheap car: about 100t.rub is spent on maintenance a year. The main expenses are consumables and work on maintenance and repair of the suspension. Average maintenance for unofficials in a specialized service is 8-14 tons, including the replacement of oil and filters around. Wherein fuel filter changes every other time. Weakness-bushings of stabilizer struts (it seems so) - I change almost every thing, as they begin to creak.

Rubber with regular size 275/40 r 20 almost immediately changed to yokogama parada 275/50 r20. It became much more comfortable and the rides in shinmontazh were sharply reduced, but it turned out to be too wide - in the completely turned out position, the wheel fenders were slightly clinging. This summer I delivered a new set of nokian hakka 265/50 r20 - just perfect! Much more comfortable than yokogama.

Departure by car for more than 2 years and it's time to change the car. I wanted to buy a 2-3 year old Range Rover in a new body, but firstly, it is very expensive (from 4 million 1-2 years old), and secondly, we are stealing too much. I decided to change to a lower car, for a change. The budget is up to 2.5 million rubles. Considered all-wheel drive 1-3 summer audi a7, a8 (not long), bmw 5gt, bmw 7. I also watched jaguar xj, but he four-wheel drive went only from 2013 and prices for used ones started from more than 3 million.

After a couple of months of searching, dealership test drives and comparisons, I was found bought from a dealer Jaguar xj awd, 2013. 340hp gasoline with a compressor with mileage 19t.km. But that's another story that began just a couple of days ago.

And the RRS is up for sale. Although it is a pity to part, but in the current unstable macroeconomic conditions, three cars in a family is too much.

Range Rover cars with a 3.6 liter engine have rightfully established themselves as fairly reliable, unpretentious in maintenance and "fast" cars. Despite the fact that manufacturers claim that not a single unit of a car requires repair and maintenance up to a run of 30-40 thousand kilometers, individual elements fuel system and the engine may require earlier service.

Having diagnosed the car at the LRservice technical center, you will know which structural element needs to be repaired or replaced.

When to change the fuel filter

Poor quality fuel, sometimes found on Gas station in Russia, often leads to the need to replace the fuel filter on a Range Rover with a 3.6-liter engine after 20-25 thousand kilometers.

Symptoms indicating the need to update a part are:

  • Difficulty starting the car, even in normal weather conditions
  • A sharp drop in the dynamics of acceleration: the car "does not go"
  • Dips and jerks when pressing the accelerator
  • A noticeable increase in fuel consumption.

Changing the fuel filter yourself on a Range Rover car is a difficult and long process. Therefore, a more correct decision would be to entrust this matter to professionals from LRservice, who will carry out the necessary repairs quickly, inexpensively and with a guarantee.

Replacing the timing chain

One of the vulnerabilities of 3.6- liter engine power of 272 hp is the timing chain. Of course, it is more reliable than a belt, but over time it can also stretch out and start rattling or rattling. In this case, replacing the timing chain on the Range Rover 3.6 is a mandatory procedure.

To avoid sad consequences for the engine, it is recommended to check the condition of the chain every 80-85 thousand kilometers. Contact the LRservice technical center - our specialists will conduct full check state of the engine at a convenient time for you.

To tune or not to tune

To improve the dynamic characteristics of the car and optimize engine performance, many owners of Range Rover sport 3.6 carry out chip tuning of their " iron horses". According to the customer reviews of the LRservice technical center, such an important indicator as the fuel consumption of the Range Rover with a 3.6-liter diesel engine after a well-carried out chipping decreased by 1-2 l / 100 km, while the engine power and throttle response increased.

This fact indicates that there is no need to be afraid of chip tuning: the most important parameters of a car's engine cannot be worsened by this procedure, but it is quite possible to improve it.

Solving turbine problems

Turbine on Range Rover configuration Sport with a 3.6-liter engine, it is usually very reliable and works without interruptions and subject to timely service for 100-120 thousand km.

However, if this unit is used in extreme conditions, the service life is drastically reduced, and in some cases the Range Rover Sport with a 3.6 diesel engine requires replacement of the turbine. Carry out this operation in garage conditions, in the absence of special tools and an assistant is almost impossible.

Experts from the LRservice technical center will repair or replace the turbine quickly, efficiently and at a relatively low cost.

So! Why RRS ?! Well, firstly, this is a super-modern and progressive V8 diesel with two variable geometry turbochargers, which ultimately gives a whopping 640 Nm. already at 2000 rpm of the engine crankshaft. This greatly captivates and attracts me as a lover of interesting and technological solutions. With all this power, the consumption of diesel fuel is only 13-15 liters in the city and 9 liters on the highway at a speed of 120 km per hour. Therefore, we are driving well, and we also save :-) Banal "tractors" like Nissan and Mitsubishi Pajero I do not like at all, primarily because of the vibrations and noise from the diesel engine. The RRS is quiet and vibration free. I was surprised that even the cushions (supports) of the engine are electronically controlled by the brain of the car and exclude any vibration on the body! This solution is worthy of the 21st century! Now about exhaust system! The sound of this monster is striking in its power! One gets the feeling that the gasoline "eight" is accelerating. But this is a diesel! But this, of course, from the outside, and in the cabin there is complete silence :-) Noise isolation for a solid five, but only by engine compartment, but the noise of the wheel arches could have been made stronger. The huge R20 tires carry the lasting sound into the interior. Pneumatic suspension. Well, this is a separate plus, which allows you to have two in one car! You can have 4 different suspension heights! 1) the lowest for pick up and drop off! Moreover, you can lower and raise the car from the key fob! 2) basic mode. Approximately 185 mm ground clearance in the city and on the highway. Moreover, at speeds over 160 km per hour, the car descends and improves handling. 3) Off-road mode. The suspension raises the body up to 227 mm from the lowest point of the body. 4) Emergency. If a car in a track sits on the ground with its bottom, then you can additionally increase the ground clearance by 7 cm and get out of problem place... The speed is 5 km per hour. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++ Total: as much as 297 mm of ground clearance! Well, damn it, 30 cm ground clearance it's finally super! See photos in the BZ. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++ Distribution and blocking! The distribution box has two rows. Top and bottom. Two active differentials are blocked. Center and rear. In general, with such a set, you can climb into rather difficult off-road conditions. The Terrain Response System is a separate marvel of the RRS. It has five modes of car movement. 1) Normal conditions 2) Grass-gravel-snow and ice 3) Mud-rut 4) Sand 5) Stones-low speed It is also possible to go ford with a depth of 700 mm. (I really think it is possible even deeper if you first raise the car to a maximum of 30 cm clearance) You don't have to worry about steep descents and climbs. There's electronics for that. Controlled ascents and descents work when moving forward and backward :-) There is also a dynamic stabilization system. The car does not roll at all when cornering. This system can be turned off! For example, off-road. Brakes! Everything is short and clear. The base is equipped with a Brembo with 360 mm discs and four-piston calipers. Additionally, the factory has installed an emergency braking system, as well as a braking assistance system in a corner. _________________________ ______________________ Well, about things like mobile phone with bluetooth, navigation and TV (analog and digital channels), refrigerator, parking sensors in a circle and automatically lowered mirrors when driving reverse I think there is no need to write here, since there is a lot of this in the RRS, as in any modern car with a cost of 2.500.000-3.000.000 rubles Of course there is also a Webasto heater. There are also heated seats for all seats, numerous adjustments for the front seats, an auto-closing function for the tailgate (no need to slam), rear climate control, cruise control, a rear-view mirror with auto-dimming, Adaptive Bixenon 55 Watt. Heated windows and side mirrors, as well as headlight and windshield washer nozzles. The hand brake deserves special attention :-) This is not a lever or a pedal, but just a button :-) I pulled this button and the car was on the handbrake. I pressed the gas pedal in DRIVE mode and the car itself took off from the parking brake! Super! _________________________ ______________________ The body of the RRS is, of course, framed and additionally equipped with sills to facilitate boarding and disembarking. The original wheel mud flaps were also installed. Thresholds do not underestimate the ground clearance at all due to their attachment above the frame level. I will describe the car in more detail in the logbooks. _________________________ ______________________ So! Powerful a car for city and highway with excellent dynamics and low fuel consumption. Powerful off-roader for nature excursions. Not tired? Thanks and good luck everyone!

Going somewhere, then in the direction of the service ”), you can recall at least a dozen. Indeed, in the history of the British brand there were frankly failed models, all the advantages of which were negated by low reliability. But there are also successful ones, like, for example, the third generation Range Rover, which has been produced since 2002 with minimal changes.

The Range Rover is a somewhat unique car. There are not so many SUVs in the world that have both a high level of comfort and excellent cross-country ability. The Range Rover is not ashamed to appear in high society, and at the same time, it can drive in such “directions” where fashionable modern crossovers simply have nothing to do. The electronic filling of the car also corresponds to the status - all the benefits that the owners of the premium segment have already got used to are, of course, there. The dynamics does not disappoint either. On the Russian market The third generation Range Rover was officially supplied with a 4.4-liter gasoline engine, although on sale you can also find European versions with a diesel engine 3.0 liters. Both engines were developed by BMW, which, on the one hand (taking into account the experience of the Bavarian company in engine building), is an indisputable plus, and on the other hand, it is a reason to take out more oil dipstick as the oil level dropped quite quickly. Since 2005, after another change of the "owner", the model began to be installed already "Jaguar" power units(4.2 l, 4.4 l, diesel 3.6 l), which have proven themselves very well. In fact, all other units also demonstrate high reliability: automatic gearbox, transfer case, gearboxes ... Diesel 3.6 l - the best option for those who travel a lot and like to count money. It is noticeably more economical gasoline engine 4.4 liters, while it is quite comparable with it in terms of thrust. Traditional "diesel" problems (difficult start and slow heating of the passenger compartment in winter) do not arise in Range Rover. Like most Land Rover models, this SUV is already in basic configuration equipped with autonomous liquid heater which will lead to optimal temperature both antifreeze and air in the cabin.

2005 restyling, in addition to new engines, also brought in small cosmetic changes: new headlights, grille, front bumper. The list of options has also been expanded, the design has been updated. wheel rims... However, no major design changes have taken place. Maybe this is for the best - complaints with technical point there was practically no vision.

Do not be afraid of "pneuma"

All Range Rovers are equipped with air suspension, however, unlike, for example, German luxury SUVs, here working elements (cylinders) fail very rarely. If it comes to replacing them, it is not necessary to buy original ones. At a price of 25-30 thousand rubles. apiece, they are absolutely identical to the same parts from Delphi, which cost almost half the price. The rest of the chassis elements (levers, hinges) can withstand 100,000 km or more without any problems. However, when buying, you should still pay attention to a full-fledged diagnosis of the suspension. The fact is that, due to the good sound insulation of the car, many owners simply do not hear knocks from worn out ball or silent blocks, therefore they do not even suspect that it is time to contact the service. They're in full confidence the chassis is in good working order, and there is no malice in this.

At least in the dirt, at least at the reception

The Range Rover excels on both asphalt and off-road, despite the lack of mechanical locks. A relatively flat bottom with good factory protection of units, a large (variable) ground clearance and smart electronics are the key to the excellent cross-country ability of this SUV, without exaggeration. Maybe it's for the best that the fight against natural obstacles here was entrusted to electronic systems: after all, the circle of customers for which the car was originally created is used to controlling the buttons.

Of course, when buying a Range Rover, you need to understand that the cost of maintaining a car of this class will not be cheap. You need to be prepared for a fairly rapid decline in its market value ( diesel versions are getting cheaper much more slowly than gasoline ones). But if you've decided on your own that Land Rover SUVs don't break down more often than their competitors, this model is perfect!

Expert opinion

Valentin SAVENKO,
chief mechanic of the Britcar technical center

Range Rover, produced from 2002 to the present day (its design has not fundamentally changed), is quite capable of refuting the conventional wisdom about the unreliability of Land Rover. FROM previous generation indeed, there were many problems - one might say that the brand has seriously discredited itself. But modern Range Rovers are some of Land Rover's most reliable vehicles. I would recommend opting for a model with a 3.6 liter diesel engine: it is unpretentious, relatively economical and provides excellent dynamics. But be careful when purchasing. If earlier, to twist the mileage of this car, it was required to change the electronic control unit (and its cost nullified the economic feasibility of the operation), today craftsmen have learned to work with odometer data without replacing the unit. So there is a great chance to buy a beautifully shiny car with an overly rich past. The air suspension does not need to be intimidated - it lasts long enough. And even if the working elements require replacement, the repair will not become ruinous.

Owner opinion

Ilya DREYER,
Land Rover Range Rover, 3.6 Diesel, 2007, 105,000 km

I recall with horror my former Range Rover - a model that was produced before 2002. The evacuation service card was constantly on my dashboard, because everything in the car broke down. Nevertheless, when the opportunity turned up to purchase a next generation car from a friend, I decided to use it. And, as it turned out, not in vain. Range Rover 2007 onwards exchanged for the second hundred thousand kilometers, but still does not give reasons for criticism. For 2.5 years of ownership, only consumables changed. It is clear that the cost of maintenance and repair is higher than that of budget crossovers. I can compare the costs with the costs of maintaining the BMW 5-Series, which my wife drives - they are about the same. So the sky-high prices for Land Rover parts and service are nothing more than speculation by critics unfamiliar with the British brand. The comfort level is amazing. I travel a lot in Moscow, traveled around Finland - you never get tired of driving. So happy with the car one hundred percent!
