Mercedes-AMG Project One: VIA on a hypercar from Mercedes. Mercedes spoke about the power plant of the extreme car Project One How much does the Mercedes-AMG Project One cost?

Auto giant Mercedes-Benz presented a unique hyper car Mercedes-AMG Project One within the framework. In our Mercedes-AMG review Project One 2019-2020 - photos and videos, price and equipment, technical characteristics of a mid-engined two-door coupe filled with a Formula 1 car. A unique coupe created by Daimler for the 50th anniversary of the AMG division, which produces powerful and fast cars... The new Mercedes-AMG Project Van hybrid supercar coupe is slated to enter serial production in 2019. The price of each of the 275 copies of the unique hybrid coupe (in fact, we have a Formula 1 car, adapted for public roads) will be from 2.7 million euros, which is 300 thousand euros more than the cost offered at a starting price of 2.4 million euros.

The Mercedes-AMG Project One coupe, despite its uniqueness, will not be able to compete with Bugatti Chiron neither in terms of the power of the power plant (1000 hp versus 1500 hp), nor in terms of maximum speed (350 km / h versus over 420 km / h). And the interior of the new Mercedes-AMG hybrid hypercar is simply spartan compared to the chic interior of the two-door Bugatti coupe. What is the trick of the novelty for which the manufacturer wants such a lot of money?

The answer is simple and concise. The Mercedes-AMG Project One Coupé is built with Formula 1 technology and is a road-adaptable 2015 Mercedes-AMG F1 W06 Hybrid royal race car ... fantastic, isn't it ?!

So let's go straight to technical specifications Mercedes-AMG Project One 2019-2020.
The small-series medium-engined two-door coupe is equipped with a hybrid power plant with a 1.6-liter V6 Turbo petrol engine with two electric motors mounted on it. The first 122-horsepower electric motor helps to spin the turbocharger, the second 163-horsepower installed on crankshaft gasoline engine and helps the turbocharged V6 during acceleration, as well as during braking, acts as a recuperator and provides power generation. Peak power of 680 hp transmitted rear wheels through 8-speed robotic box gears (single clutch disc, hydraulic gear shifting).

The W06 Hybrid engine of a formula car with a resource of only 4000 km, taken as a basis, received, of course, for road car a number of improvements that made it possible to increase the "life" of the engine to 50,000 km. AMG mechanics equipped the engine of the Mercedes-AMG Project One coupe with new pistons and a crankshaft, changed the program of the engine control unit, maximum speed up to 11,000 (for a formula motor, the cutoff is triggered at 15,000 rpm) and allowed the engine to run on 98 gasoline. And that is not all.

Unlike the Formula 1 car with rear wheel drive unique coupe is four-wheel drive vehicle... On the front axle, two electric motors are additionally installed for each wheel separately with a capacity of 163 forces (electric motors provide thrust vector control).
There are also a couple of blocks available rechargeable batteries installed under the floor of the passenger compartment behind the front wheels. The fuel stored in the batteries is sufficient to cover 25 km without activating the gasoline engine; the batteries can be recharged from the socket.

It only remains to add that the entire hybrid power plant gives out to the mountain maximum power 1000 hp !!!, but at fully charged rechargeable batteries. The dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 2.5 seconds, from 0 to 200 km / h in less than 6.0 seconds, the maximum speed is slightly more than 350 km / h.

The exterior design of the Mercedes-AMG Project One coupe looks like an alien, but not from Formula 1, but from the future. The car is incredibly beautiful, but the car body was not created for beauty contests, but taking into account the achievement of the lowest possible indicator aerodynamic drag... There are huge front and side air intakes, an active splitter, opening flaps on the tops of the front fenders, an electronically controlled spoiler ... in a word, all the aerodynamic elements are innumerable. And how great the roof air intake looks, smoothly turning into a huge fin.

The new mid-engined coupe from Mercedes-AMG with the original Project One name is built around a carbon monocoque with a cockpit for the driver and passenger. It is interesting that not only a monocoque, but also Gas engine in the company with the gearbox provide the supporting structure. Rear levers the suspensions are attached to the engine and gearbox housings, the shock absorbers are located almost horizontally, fixed to the chassis body and connected to the suspension arms using push rods. Only the suspension is not as expensive as that of a royal racing car.

And from more familiar materials and details:

First, the levers are aluminum, not carbon fiber.
Secondly, springs are installed, not torsion bars.
In this case, carbon-ceramic brakes are used, and there is also a stabilization system that can be turned off if desired.

The Mercedes-AMG Project One two-seater coupe looks like a real cockpit sports car... In stock steering wheel almost like the steering wheel of a Formula 1 car, with a tachometer light, buttons and a switch, but with the addition of an airbag and touchpads. helping to customize multimedia system without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

There are also two customizable 10 '' color screens, capable of providing the driver and passenger with mass useful information... One is located in the usual place for dashboard, the second in the center of the front panel and serves as a multimedia complex, but with enhanced capabilities. There is also a third screen, which took the place of the salon rear-view mirror, on which the picture from the rear-view camera is displayed, as well as other information on car settings.

There are no chairs in the traditional concept. The driver and passenger are housed in fixed suede-trimmed cradles. It is more or less comfortable to settle down and to choose the optimal fit is available only to the driver with the help of an electrically adjustable steering column and pedal assembly. Well at least air conditioning and power windows are standard. Finishing materials, of course, are of premium class: carbon from which the entire cockpit is made, genuine leather, Nappa leather and Alcantara suede.

Mercedes-AMG Project One 2018-2019 video test

The world premiere of the novelty will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens in September. Customers will receive cars around the second half of 2018.

Before the Nürburgring 24 Hours marathon, which kicked off this weekend, Mercedes-Benz released details of the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar, the first road car powered by an F1 car.

Six-cylinder engine internal combustion was borrowed from the car of Lewis Hamilton, on which he skated the Formula season in 2015, however, the six were modernized: the crankshaft, pistons were replaced, and the engine control unit was reprogrammed - these operations were needed in order to increase internal combustion engine resource(it will be about 50,000 km, after which a "capital" will be needed).

Paired with a gasoline V6 at the rear of the hypercar, a pair of electric motors are running: one is responsible for permanent drive turbocharger, the second helps the rotation crankshaft... At the front, Project One has two more electric motors that can serve as a driving force on the energy stored in battery pack; on electric traction, the hypercar will be able to travel up to 30 kilometers.

As for the transmission, it will be an eight-speed "robot".

It is assumed that the weight of the Mercedes-AMG Project One will be about 1,300 kilograms, and the power of the power plant will exceed a thousand Horse power, that is, the ratio of hp to the mass will be more than the Bugatti Chiron.

AMG boss Tobias Meyer says he often hears questions from potential customers about car maintenance, for example, will it need the mechanics that an F1 car needs during a race? "No, this is a road car that you park in front of your house or in the garage," says Mayer, "and you will be filling it with 98th gasoline."

As previously reported, a total of 275 Mercedes-AMG Project One cars will be produced, which, as expected in Mercedes, will be sold out even before the premiere scheduled for September. The preliminary price is 2.4 million pounds (approximately 175,363,000 rubles). Project One's competitors will be.

Team Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team has won the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship for three years in a row. When it comes to road cars, the Mercedes-AMG division has become the locomotive of the entire concern, and in the minds of many people the Mercedes-Benz brand is now associated primarily with cars bearing the letters AMG. By the way, the Affalterbach office itself turns 50 this year. If you summarize all these facts, it becomes clear: since anniversary cakes at AMG do not know how to bake, they baked it.

The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is a road-legal hybrid supercar powered by a true Formula 1 engine. The 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine spins up to 11,000 rpm and is powered by "civilian" 98th gasoline. One of the four electric motors is only used for supercharging, and its power is 90 kW. Or 122 hp. - this is already quite an automobile value! Electric supercharging is much more efficient than a drive supercharger or conventional turbochargers, and it also provides instant response. As the engineers say, "faster than the naturally aspirated V8." We had no doubts!

Another 120 kW electric motor is located, like the gasoline engine, behind the cab, in front of the rear axle. Two more - in the front. Each of them can work as a generator - store energy in the battery with each braking. Moreover, the front electric motors drive each wheel, which means that the distribution of thrust can be actively controlled.

But Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is not only a frantic eater of supercars, who got on the road by someone's clearly deliberate mistake. It's also a rechargeable hybrid. If necessary, he can drive in complete silence up to 25 km without starting the internal combustion engine.

Lewis Hamilton, three-time world champion in Formula 1, one of the best racers of our time, brought Project ONE to the podium of the Mercedes stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show

But if you don't need to stand on ceremony, a hypercar with a carbon fiber body is ready to pick up speed over 350 km / h, and reach the first 200 km / h in less than 6 seconds after the start. That is, at least half a second faster than the almighty!

Do you know what this is? This is the Mercedes-Benz pavilion at the Frankfurt Motor Show half an hour before the launch. Not every time you see this at exhibitions, especially on a closed day, only for the press. However, the premiere is not that everyday ...

Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is an unprecedented project, although Mercedes enthusiasts will insist otherwise. In 1997, a particularly small series of CLK GTRs was released - only 25 incredible wheeled monsters, nicknamed "Unicorns" by fans.

But it was the so-called homologation road batch that allowed prototypes to participate in FIA GT races. And Project ONE was originally a road project, albeit with an ambitious goal to bring Formula 1 to the roads in its most literal interpretation.

but this Mercedes resembles them only in part. It is comparable with them in power and "Wow - Effect", but its essence is different;it is practically a Formula car in the back of a very unusual, but road car. Believe me - these are not just words. The basis for this Mercedes, which by the way was created for the 50th anniversary of AMG, served as a car F1 - W06 Hybryd , in which in 2015 Lewis Hammilton became the champion. Imagine;exclusive from Mercedes got the power plant exactly from the car F1. Yes, - there are some changes designed to increase the resource (after all, the heart of a combat car is designed for 5 races, or 4000 km); but by and large it is a racing unit with idling, Attention! - 4,000 revolutions!

Price for Mercedes AMG Project One is 2,700,000 euros. This is the cost without various excise duties and taxes. They say that 275 cars that Mercedes should be released, but not released yet, already sold out. And here important point that even in autumn, in Frankfurt 2017 it was the concept that was shown, not the production car. The production of this exclusive should begin only in 2019, and last car the customer will receive in 2020. As you can see, people paid for this miracle, despite the fact that it still needs to be done - it’s too little to wait. Would you give money for the car, knowing that you have to wait for it for two years)? - of course - such a Mercedes was ordered by collectors who know a lot about expensive and sophisticated cars. And it seems to me that many of them understand that in the future such AMG will only rise in price.

Look at the photo Mercedes AMG Project Wang, how is he for you? Of course, outwardly it looks more like a racing prototype, and not a road Supercar. But, I repeat, this is a car that will be allowed on public roads, while the creators say that it should accelerate from zero to 200 km in 6 seconds, and thanks to the partial unification of the suspension with a Formula car, such a car should also be phenomenally fast in turns.

Do not you think that the upper air intake is clearly related to F1? Equally impressive is the "fin" behind this air intake. You will not find such solutions at mass Supercars.

Please note that the wheels are here almost completely - to the very bottom, hidden in the wheel arch. The doors here are made according to the scheme - "gull wing" — such a solution is often found on racing cars... Of course, such a machine could only be fitted with coal-ceramic brake discs.

From the photo you can see that there are no seats in their traditional form. General, carbon fiber seat is made for each client and covered with leather, suede, or other materials - at the request of the client. You can pay attention to two, 10-inch screens. Here the steering wheel is rectangular, and not the steering wheel, which, like the pedals, has an electric drive.

Of course, the construction is based on a carbon fiber monocoque. But there is also a lot of carbon fiber in the cabin.

Characteristics Mercedes AMG Project One very interesting. Formula V6 volume of 1.6 liters, is equipped with a supercharger and in itself develops a power of 680 hp. Together with electric motors, the total power is 1,000hp. There is a modified crankshaft and pistons, they are not quite the same as on the car F1 , but such an engine has a resource of 50,000 km. What is very important for such a non-daily car. And by the way, this car is designed to run on regular, 98th gasoline.

On the all-wheel drive and at eight speed, robotic gearbox, such a car is capable of breaking up to 100 km in 2.5 s and developing maximum speed at 350 km per hour. Surely many connoisseurs are now wondering - how long will this car take to pass the Nürburgring North Loop, but we will learn about this in best case in 2019. On electric traction alone, such a car is capable of traveling 25 km. From this, of course, it is clear that electric motors here only for better traction, economy - needed on the track (for fewer refills in racing conditions), not for real economy.

This is an amazing, very bright and extraordinary car. While this is not a series yet, and after the demonstration of the production car, we will definitely return to it. And of course, the time that this car will show at the Nurburgring is very interesting.
