LuAZ: unusual models of the Lutsk automobile plant. LuAZ (Lutsk Automobile Plant) - brand history Development and development in production

LuAZ (Lutsk car factory) - the legend of the Soviet automotive industry. At present, Lutsk Automobile Plant OJSC is part of the Bogdan corporation and is engaged in the production of cars of the VAZ, KIA, Hyundai model range, as well as commercial vehicles - buses and trolleybuses.
The history of the enterprise began in 1951, when, after the issuance of the corresponding decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, construction of a repair plant began in Lutsk, which lasted four years. And on August 25, 1955, the Lutsk repair plant was put into operation. The main products of the plant are spare parts for GAZ-51 and GAZ-63 vehicles, as well as repair equipment to meet the needs of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In 1959, the plant was retrained into a machine-building plant and received a new name Lutsk Machine-Building Plant (LuMZ). In addition, its specialization is also changing: the release of car bodies, refrigerators, as well as other types of specialized automotive engineering.
In 1966, the first civil car of its own production, ZAZ-969V, was produced, which was an improved version of the famous Zaporozhets. With the beginning of the release of this model in Volyn, new industry mechanical engineering - automotive. On December 11, 1966 Lutsk Machine-Building Plant was renamed into Lutsk Automobile Plant.
In the period from 1966-1971. only front-wheel drive models LuAZ-969V came off the factory conveyor, but already in 1971 the car was slightly redesigned: the drive became full, and the engine became more powerful. In 1975, Lutsk Automobile Plant formed an association with the largest automobile plant in Zaporozhye "Kommunar". In the same year, the serial production of LuAZ-967M vehicles begins, and the development of a fundamentally new, fourth, model continues.
In 1979, a new model with the index 969M was put on the conveyor, which compares favorably with previous models not only exterior, but also improved technical characteristics.
On September 22, 1982, the one hundred thousandth car rolled off the assembly line of the Lutsk Automobile Plant, and in April 1983 the export activity of the plant began.
In March 1990, delegations from the Swiss company Ipatco and the American company Chrysler came to the plant. As a result of the negotiations, agreements on cooperation were signed.
In 1990, the production of LuAZ-1302 began. Outwardly, it practically did not differ from its predecessor, and a new engine played the main role in its popularization. The 1302nd model was equipped with a 53-horsepower unit, which, moreover, became more reliable.
Also in 1990, a record number of cars in the history of the plant was assembled - 16,500 units. In 1992, by order general director On AvtoZAZ, the plant is removed from the Kommunar association. The plant is being transformed from a state-owned company into an open joint-stock company OJSC LuAZ.
At the same time, the plant begins to go through difficult times. Wages are delayed, leading to a sharp decline in production. The plant was in such an uncertain position until February 2000, when the management of the enterprise signed a cooperation agreement with the concern "Ukrprominvest". According to this agreement, the assembly of VAZ cars began at the plant in Lutsk.
In April 2000, a tender was held to sell 81.12% of the shares of the Lutsk Automobile Plant, the winner of which was the concern Ukrprominvest (CJSC Ukrainian Industrial and Investment Concern). A month later, in the LuAZ workshops that had stopped by that time, a SKD assembly of VAZ and UAZ was established.
In 2002, the pace of assembly continued to increase: Izh cars were added to VAZs and UAZs, later the assembly of Kia, Isuzu, Hyundai trucks began.
In 2005, Lutsk Automobile Plant is part of the Bogdan Corporation. In the autumn of the same year, SKD begins at the enterprise. passenger cars Hyundai and Kia.
From June 2005 to April 2006, the plant creates conditions for the production of 1.5 thousand trolleybuses and buses per year. On April 6, 2006 OJSC "LuAZ" will present a new bus program.
In 2006 OJSC "Lutsk Automobile Plant" was renamed into OJSC "Automobile Plant" Bogdan ". In the same year, the second stage of the bus program began, within the framework of which it was planned to increase production to 6,000 buses and trolleybuses per year.
2007 was marked by the start of production of the Lanos model in Lutsk, however, the corporation continued to focus on the production of large urban automotive equipment. So the concern "Bogdan" began the production of tourist buses, and in 2008 a plant for the production of trucks and commercial vehicles was opened in Cherkassy.
Production started in 2009 commercial vehicle own development - Bogdan 2310, which was based on the well-known model Lada 2110.
Today Bogdan Motors is the largest automobile manufacturer in the CIS, specializing in the production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. All models are manufactured using high-quality components of domestic and foreign companies on high-tech equipment of German and Japanese production.

The Lutsk Automobile Plant (until 1967, the Lutsk Machine-Building Plant - LuMZ) was established in 1959 on the basis of the Lutsk Automobile Repair Plant as part of the program for the technical re-equipment of the Soviet Army.

TPK
LuMZ-967

The prototype TPK, developed in 1959 at the MZMA as an alternative to the work of the Fitterman group. It all started with the task of creating a light all-terrain vehicle for the then expanding airborne forces, suitable for landing without a platform, i.e. just on the parachute system. Initially, Fitterman's group tried to solve this problem in NAMI, inventing something plastic for the Irbit motor, but the military did not like their proposals and, as a result of the activities of the 1st Main Directorate of the KGB, it was suggested not to dress up, but to copy bMW model... The series includes a car from 1961 to 1967.

TPK
LuAZ-967

TPK - DEFINITION. Vehicles - conveyors of especially low carrying capacity (400-750 kg.) Are intended for use in the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield, the supply of ammunition, military - technical property, as well as the installation of certain types of weapons. Among domestic cars with a 4x4 wheel arrangement, these include LuAZ 967 and 967M. These conveyors differ high traffic on rough terrain, they have amphibious qualities, air transportable, highly maneuverable and mobile.

TPK LUAZ 967

The vehicle is intended for use in combat formations of units that are in close contact with the enemy. Curb weight - 950 kg, full - 1350 kg. The ground clearance is 285 mm. Height with windshield raised - 1580 mm. Engine MeMZ 967A, 37 hp It is possible to tow one trailer weighing up to 300 kg.

When driving on roads at speeds up to 75 km / h, the front wheels are driving. The rear drive is included to overcome difficult terrain. There is also a reduction gear, a rear axle differential lock is possible. In addition, to overcome trenches and get out of the water to an unprepared shore, LuAZ 967 is equipped with easily removable metal ladders. The car is able to climb up to 58%. To pull up cargo and wounded in the enemy's fire zone, you can use a winch, placing the car in cover. The effort developed by the winch is 150-200 kgf, the length of the cable is 100 m.

A feature of the LuAZ 967 is the ability to move along rivers and lakes. The body of the machine is waterproof, which provides an adequate buoyancy reserve. LuAZ 967 moves through the water thanks to the rowing effect created by the wheels. Floating speed - up to 3 km / h.

The driver's seat in the LuAZ 967 is located in the middle, and on the right and left, with some displacement back, there are two seats for passengers recessed into the platforms. When folded, their backs are in the same plane with the platform, making room for a load or two wounded on a stretcher.

When stealth is needed, the driver can control the car half-lying. The steering column is lowered, the seat back reclines, and the windshield is on the engine hood. The instrument panel mounted on the steering wheel hub braces remains in the driver's field of vision in any case.

HISTORY OF CREATION

War in Korea (1949-1953), which Soviet Union supplied military equipment, showed a shortage in the armed forces of a light all-terrain vehicle for transporting the wounded, transporting ammunition, etc. GAZ 69, used at that time for these purposes, was too large, was clumsy, and on a field pitted with craters it often sat on bridges. It was then that the need arose to create a light amphibious all-terrain vehicle with a high suspension, suitable for transporting the wounded, preferably capable of dropping from aircraft.

The development of a new all-terrain vehicle was taken up by a special group in NAMI under the leadership of B.M. Fitterman (designer of the famous Soviet armored personnel carriers BTR-152). In 1958, the first prototype was made, named NAMI 049. The body was made of fiberglass, the role of the frame was played by the supporting body base. Suspension - independent torsion bar, trailing arms. The front axle was connected permanently, the rear was connected via a lockable center differential... The rear axle differential was also locked. The distance between the axles (base) was 180 cm.The design used wheel gears, which increased the torque and increased ground clearance up to 28 cm for a loaded car. The engine of the Irbit Motorcycle Plant MD 65 with a capacity of 22 hp was used in the design. But the running tests of the prototype revealed a number of shortcomings: the fiberglass body was not strong enough, and the engine was too weak.

The second alternative "Zaporizhzhya" NAMI-049A with a folding
steering column. The body shapes are still reminiscent of BMW's signature style.

Various prototypes of TPK, the latter was indexed ZAZ-967. Long tried to withdraw exhaust pipes forward in front of the hood ...

Specialists from the Zaporozhye plant joined the development of the second sample NAMI 049A. Based on the VMW-600 motor, meMZ engine 969 with a capacity of 30 (initially - 27) hp. Instead of fiberglass, a steel body with a powerful frame was used. The center differential was abandoned, the rear axle became disconnectable. Plate torsion bars were replaced with forged ones, which allowed the suspension to withstand impact when landing on a parachute. Work was carried out on two variants of the machine - simple and floating. The military chose the second option. To solve the problem of transporting the wounded, the driver's seat was located in the middle, behind them - back to back - sat a nurse. A stretcher for the wounded was on the sides. The top of the body and partly the sidewalls were covered with a tarpaulin awning. Movement through the water was carried out due to the rowing effect of the wheels. The final version was named LuMZ-967. Its production began at a car plant in Lutsk in 1961. (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

US-049 "Spark"

This is how the legendary product of the Fitterman group looked, on the basis of the development of which the well-known civil LuAZ was born. (avto4x4.narod.ru)

ZAZ-969

The first version of a rural all-terrain vehicle intended for serial production at the Lutsk Automobile Plant based on TPK units. The design was developed by a team of MZMA specialists at the Kommunar plant based on the design results of Moskvich-415. Contrary to popular belief, it was never produced in Lutsk, a batch of 50 units was produced per Zaporozhye plant in 1964. There was a version of the ZAZ-969V without a rear axle drive, but apparently it was not mass-produced at all. On the right photo - a replica of ZAZ-969, manufactured at the Lutsk Automobile Plant on the basis of LuAZ-969M units. In the photo above on the left - the prototype of the ZAZ-969 is being tested, there were no doors on it, but there were ladders from the combat vehicle.

ZAZ-971

A kind of side branch of the development of ZAZ-969, when units from it and from LuMZ-967 were used to create all-wheel drive vehicles based on ZAZ-970. In the first photo and the photo on the left - the ZAZ-971D model in long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase versions, allegedly developed for the needs of the army. In the second photo - ZAZ-971B, all-wheel drive cargo van, on the third - ZAZ-971V, a six-seater minivan. Cars 971B and 971B were similar to the indistinguishable from the corresponding models of the 970 series, differing from them only in the higher suspension and "all-terrain" tires on the disks. The ZAZ-971G model (flatbed truck) did not exist in nature, but there are fake photos of it, where the ZAZ-970G is painted on the front axle with something resembling a lockable interwheel differential.

LuMZ-969V

An alternative version of the “969” model, developed in 1965 and produced since 1966 at the Lutsk plant. It went down in history as the first Soviet front-wheel drive car, since the power Lviv plant (the supplier of LuMZ) allowed at that time to provide only army supplies of LuMZ-967 with sets of rear axles. For a number of machines, the checkpoint had a special shank for driving all kinds of agricultural machinery. It was produced for only about one and a half years. It was from him that the first popular name of this model came - "lumumzik".

LuAZ-969

After the elimination in 1971 (according to other sources - in 1969), the shortage of components for the rear axles, this model went into the series, which was produced until 1975 and was already quite four-wheel drive car... Due to the fashion that existed in those years for the creation of so-called "associations" LuAZ was combined with ZAZ and for some time the produced LuAZ passed according to documents as ZAZ-969 (not to be confused with ZAZ-969 of the 1964 model).

LuAZ-969 van

The cargo modification LuAZ-969, which was supposed to be released a little earlier (in 1967), was supposedly to receive the LuAZ-969F index. According to available information, it was not implemented in metal, since there were not enough components even for the release of the basic modification. As a result, people began to put up "booths" from their heels together. (Http://luaz.narod.ru)

LuAZ-969A

After the Melitopol Motor Plant mastered the production of a more powerful MeMZ-969A engine since 1975, this model was replaced by the 969th on the conveyor and was produced until 1979. In 1977, a batch of these cars with all-metal bodies was released, but I could not find out their factory index, in foreign sources there is a mention that they were called LuAZ-969F, but this is unlikely, since the letter "F" in this family belonged to vans. (http://luaz.narod.ru/969a/969a—1.htm)

LuAZ-967M

TPK modification, unified in units and assemblies with models 969A-969M. Or vice versa 🙂. The photo shows the eaten-up Bundesses on a fishing trip. Photo courtesy of AutoBild magazine.

LuAZ-967MP

A modification of the 967M transporter, developed by order of the border troops as a light command vehicle. It differed from the basic modification by the increased side height and a different configuration of the awning, the absence of removable ladders.

Communication vehicle LuAZ-967M

The modification of the 967M transporter, intended for transporting a company / battalion radio station, differs from the base model in a different configuration of the awning, standard places for attaching antennas to the rear on the right and left along the sides, the absence of removable ladders, in the places of which the entrenching tool was attached. Later, on its basis, in the interests of the Airborne Forces, a vehicle was created for transporting MANPADS calculations, first "Strela", then "Igla" different modifications... Firing from the hands by calculation was allowed, including on the move (with the awning removed), but not afloat, the ammunition load was four or six missiles.

Fire support vehicles based on LuAZ-967

In the 1970s, on the basis of the LuAZ-967 (first three photos), the plant offered modifications to the amphibious weapon carrier for the Airborne Forces, an automatic grenade launcher (first photo), an ATGM complex (second photo) or a recoilless gun / easel grenade launcher ( third photo). Later, on the basis of the LuAZ-967M, a new modification was created, armed with a modernized AGS-17M (fourth photo) with an increased transportable ammunition - a kind of "grenade launcher cart".

LuAZ-969M

In 1979, the Lutsk Automobile Plant begins serial production of the LuAZ-969M, an improved modification of the LuAZ 969A, the development of which began in 1974. This model is equipped, like its predecessor, with a 40-horsepower MeMZ-969A engine, however, it is equipped with a separate brake drive with a hydraulic vacuum booster on the front circuit. The exterior of the car was modernized thanks to the change in the front panels, the shape was changed windshield, the doors are equipped with locks, the door windows received a rigid frame and opening “vents”, a soft instrument panel, a safety steering column and “Zhiguli” seats appeared in the cabin.

Even before the launch of the LuAZ 969M series, it was highly appreciated at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR, in 1978 at the international salon in Turin (Italy) it entered the top ten best cars Europe, and in 1979 at the international exhibition in Ceske Budejovice (Czechoslovakia) received Gold medal as one of the best cars for the villagers. (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

LuAZ-2403

Airfield tractor based on LuAZ-969M. Almost the only serial version, originally designed for the use of the VAZ engine. In the future, the solutions developed in it were used in the implementation of the LuAZ-13021 version. It could quite realistically become the basis for a serious modernization of the original model, but, unfortunately, in the conditions of the Soviet automobile industry, this was impossible. Some of the tractors were equipped with flashing beacons orange (see photo on the left). (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

ZAZ-2320

A variant of a dump truck based on the body of the LuAZ-2403 tractor, but with an engine, transmission and electrics from 969M. According to the owner, it was released by the plant in only four copies. A kind of alternative branch of development in relation to 13021, and in my opinion, it is actually more promising. Why "ZAZ" is a mystery of nature, but it is under this index that it passes through the documents.

LuAZ-969MF

The version of the cargo van based on the LuAZ-969M, the development of the failed cargo version based on the LuAZ-969, was produced in a limited series. Very often they are called simply LuAZ-969F, which is not entirely correct. Behind him in the photo is one of the first prototypes LuAZ-1301(presumably created no later than 1982-83), which was essentially a deep restyling of the 969M model.

LuAZ-1302

After the modernization of model 969M carried out in 1988, the car with the new index LuAZ 1302 was equipped with 53 - strong four-cylinder engines from Tavria MeMZ 245-20 with water cooling, which on average reduced fuel consumption by 16% and significantly reduced noise. The U-shaped spars are stronger than steel. The seats were also borrowed from Tavria. There is a new dashboard and additional noise and vibration mats. (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru) Option with standard plastic body instead of an awning it had the index LuAZ-1302-02.

LuAZ-13021 prototype

Freight long wheelbase modification "969M" in the factory version. Later, the type of the side body was changed, and the base for serial model became "1302".

LuAZ-13021

Serial cargo modification of the "1302" model, assembled, in particular, at the "Valetta" company near Moscow (pictured). Later, in collaboration with Valetta, the Lutsk-Muscovite "hybrid" LuAZ-23021 was made.

LuAZ-13021-03

Modification of the "13021" model with a normal rigid cab and a sunroof. According to available information, it was assembled only at the plant in Lutsk. A version of this truck under the brand name LuAZ-23021 was made on the basis of the LuAZ-2403 airfield tractor (with a VAZ-2103 engine), but at the same time it was equipped with a rack and pinion steering and a gearbox from Moskvich 2141 without a drive to the rear axle, respectively, there was no torsion bar suspension and wheel reducers, on the front axle there was a MacPherson type suspension, the rear axle was made continuous on leaf springs, because of this, the ground clearance decreased from 280 to 200 mm.

LuAZ-13021-04

Long wheelbase passenger-and-freight modification of the "1302" model. With mass production, the car could become quite real competitor all kinds of "farmers" and others like them. This car was created for mobile repair brigades for the maintenance of power lines and pipelines. The double cab has four seats, and the shortened cargo platform can carry up to 250 kg of cargo. (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

LuAZ-1302-05 "Foros"

According to unverified information, for some time it was produced by the plant "on order". A kind of "youth-beach" (externally) modification of LuAZ 1302. It differs from the prototype not only in design and open body with safety arches. Under the hood there is a 37 strong Italian diesel "Lamborghini" LDW 1404. Some technical data for this model: wheel formula - 4x4; carrying capacity - 400kg; curb weight - 970 kg; total weight - 1370kg; dimensions - length - 3430mm; width - 1610mm; height - 1754mm; ground clearance - 280mm; base - 1800mm; track - 1360mm; engine - number of cylinders - 4; working volume 1372 cm3; power at 3600rpm - 37.4hp; torque 8,47 kgs.m at 2200 rpm; maximum speed 100 km / h; fuel consumption -7.7 liters per 100 km; maximum angle rise 60%; maximum angle lateral stability 40 degrees; ford depth 0.5 m; wheels - disks - 51 / 2J / 13; tires - 186 / 65R13; (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

LuAZ-13021-07

A variant of the 21-04 model with an extended van body with a fiberglass top and a metal tailgate.

LuAZ-13021-08

Modification of the model "21-07" for the needs of hidden help. A car for servicing rural paramedic points and delivering people to the hospital. The top is made of fiberglass. For convenient placement of the stretcher, the rear part of the body is lengthened by more than 600 mm, in connection with which the rear overhang has increased. The body has four doors: one on the left, two on the right and the back. (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

Ukrainian MLRS with block NAR S-5

Even now, special machines are being created - a kind of home-made MLRS (multiple launch rocket systems). One of recent examples - one of the most original combat "constructions" of our time - the Ukrainian mobile artillery system on the LuAZ jeep. (http://armor.kiev.ua/ptur/)

TPK-2 prototype

The prototype of the three-axle TPK, the progenitor of the "Geologist", was developed on the basis of LuAZ-967M units and assemblies, and was tested in 1982-1983. Had every chance of becoming a production car, but the factory chose to go further and try to create a car with active air suspension.

TPK-2
LuAZ-972

The military predecessor of the Geologist. Further development of the TPK idea. The design feature is an active independent hydropneumatic torsion bar suspension, unified with the LuAZ-1301 prototype 1990 model. Both prototypes and this pre-production model went under the factory index 972. Not commercially produced.

LuAZ-1901 "Geologist"

When designing TPK LuAZ 967, a three-axle version of the amphibious transporter was also created on its basis in a pilot manner, but these cars did not go into production at that time. However, the idea was not forgotten and at the Kiev SIA99 Motor Show Lutsk Automobile Plant presented an all-wheel drive car high cross-country ability LuAZ 1901 "Geologist".

The car is quite remarkable. Firstly, it is three-axle, and with a uniform placement of bridges over the base, which guarantees excellent cross-country ability. The car easily overcomes ditches up to 1.4 meters wide. AND independent suspension of all wheels, combined with a sufficient overall length, ensures an exceptionally smooth ride over rough terrain. The car can climb up to 58% and is kept on a side slope of 40 degrees.

Secondly, this car is an amphibian. A water-propeller - traditional for Luazov all-terrain vehicles - the rowing effect of the wheels, providing a speed on the water up to 5 km / h.

Third, finally, as power unit the car used a three-cylinder diesel engine 3DTN, Kharkov plant them. Malysheva.

Demonstrating this experimental model, the Lutsk Automobile Plant hoped to attract the attention of primarily law enforcement agencies, as well as ministries of emergency situations... But, apparently, it turned out as always ...

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

wheel arrangement 6x6; lifting capacity 660 kg; curb weight 1250 kg; gross weight 1900 kg; dimensions length 4522 mm, width 1922 mm, height 1754 mm; ground clearance 285 mm; track 1335 mm; diesel engine 3DTN; number and arrangement of cylinders 3 in a row; working volume 1.5 l; power at 3600 rpm 51 hp; maximum speed 60 km / h; fuel consumption 12 l / 100 km; width of the water obstacle 3000 m; wheels disks 5J / 16, tires 6.96 / 16 (http://www.ujuja.narod.ru)

LuAZ-Proto

An alternative prototype LuAZ-1301, developed at the Leningrad laboratory of NAMI by the Parfenov-Khainov group in 1988-1989. Under the integral hood (which folds back together with the fenders) hides an old acquaintance - the "Tavrichesky" MeMZ-245 engine. But the transmission is completely original. The gearbox is 6-speed, synchronized, with the first two gears - reduction. Since there is no center differential in the circuit, the connection front axle possible only in off-road driving mode. The car does not have a transfer case: the drive of the front axle is disconnected from the front end of the output shaft of the gearbox. An interesting feature is the hinges of the equal angular velocities, used in the drive not only of the front (independent, suspended on McPherson struts), but also rear wheels... De Dion's rear spring dependent suspension is also quite unusual for a jeep, where main gear fixed to the body through soundproofing elements. The powertrain, front suspension and final drive are a single unit mounted on a separate subframe. That is, all the assembled mechanics can be rolled out from under the car without making a complete disassembly of the body. For the body, a frame-panel structure was chosen, in which all loads are taken by a stamped steel frame, and the outer panels made of plastic are removable and do not affect the overall strength of the body. In addition to operational advantages (less susceptibility to corrosion, immunity to minor damage, maintainability), this solution gave some technological advantages. Plastic parts could be painted separately from the body, which made it possible to somewhat reduce the requirements for the heat resistance of the plastic and the cleanliness of the surface of the stamped parts, and the modernization of the car during the production process was also simplified. The car's interior is designed for four passengers of the so-called 95% percentile, that is, out of every hundred adults, 95 will find a comfortable position for themselves and only five will experience some discomfort. The split rear seat design allows the backrests to be moved 100 mm forward, after which the seats are wide enough to accommodate three 50% percentile passengers. In the LuAZ-Proto salon, you can equip comfortable berths or transform the seats into a cargo area. The tailgate folds out to a horizontal position, which increases the loading area. LuAZ-1301 prototype 2002

In 2002, an updated version of the 1994 model of the LuAZ 1301 model that did not reach the conveyor was presented. Traditionally, the car has received four-wheel drive with differential locks. A 1.2-liter MeMZ-2457 engine with 58 hp is used as a power unit. The checkpoint is five-speed, the body is completely plastic. Backdoor made of two halves - upper and lower, the spare wheel and the tool are hidden in niches under the front seats, so the luggage compartment is completely free. According to preliminary data, if the car goes into production, its cost will be from $ 3000 to $ 4500 (then there was a figure already at least $ 5000), depending on the configuration. LuAZ (Lutsk Automobile Plant) is a legend of the Soviet automotive industry. At present, Lutsk Automobile Plant OJSC is part of the Bogdan corporation and is engaged in the production of cars of the VAZ, KIA, Hyundai model range, as well as commercial vehicles - buses and trolleybuses.

The history of the enterprise began in 1951, when, after the issuance of the corresponding decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, the construction of a repair plant began in Lutsk, which lasted four years.

In addition, its specialization is changing: the production of car bodies, refrigerators, as well as other types of specialized automotive equipment was established.

In 1966, the first civil car of its own production, ZAZ-969V, was produced, which was an improved version of the famous Zaporozhets. With the beginning of the release of this model, a new branch of mechanical engineering appeared in Volyn - the automobile industry. On December 11, 1966, Lutsk Machine-Building Plant was renamed into Lutsk Automobile Plant.

In the period from 1966-1971. only front-wheel drive models LuAZ-969V came off the factory assembly line, but already in 1971 the car was slightly redesigned: the drive became full, and the engine became more powerful. In 1975, the Lutsk Automobile Plant formed an association with the largest automobile plant in Zaporozhye "Kommunar". In the same year, the serial production of LuAZ-967M cars begins, and the development of a fundamentally new, fourth, model continues.

In 1979, a new model with the 969M index was put on the conveyor, which compares favorably with previous models not only in exterior, but also in improved technical characteristics.

In 1992, by order of the General Director of PO AvtoZAZ, the plant was removed from the Kommunar association. The plant is being transformed from a state-owned company into an open joint-stock company OJSC LuAZ.

At the same time, the plant begins to go through difficult times. Wages are delayed, leading to a sharp decline in production. The plant was in such an uncertain position until February 2000, when the management of the enterprise concluded a cooperation agreement with the concern "Ukrprominvest".

A month later, in the LuAZ workshops that had stopped by that time, a SKD assembly of VAZ and UAZ was set up.

In 2002, the pace of assembly continued to increase: Izh cars were added to VAZs and UAZs, and later the assembly of Kia, Isuzu, Hyundai trucks began.

In 2005, Lutsk Automobile Plant is part of the Bogdan Corporation. In the autumn of the same year, SKD assembly of Hyundai and Kia passenger cars began at the enterprise.

From June 2005 to April 2006, the plant creates conditions for the production of 1.5 thousand trolleybuses and buses per year. On April 6, 2006 JSC "LuAZ" presents a new bus program.

In 2006 OJSC “Lutsk Automobile Plant” was renamed into OJSC “Automobile Plant“ Bogdan ”. In the same year, the second stage of the bus program began, within the framework of which it was planned to increase production to 6,000 buses and trolleybuses per year.

2007 was marked by the beginning of production of the Lanos model in Lutsk, however, the corporation continued to focus on the production of large urban automotive equipment. So the concern "Bogdan" began the production of tourist buses, and in 2008 a plant for the production of trucks and commercial vehicles was opened in Cherkassy.

In 2009, the production of a commercial vehicle of its own design began - Bogdan 2310, which was based on the notorious Lada 2110 model.

Today Bogdan Motors is the largest automobile manufacturer in the CIS, specializing in the production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. All models are manufactured using high-quality components of domestic and foreign companies on high-tech equipment of German and Japanese production.

In our catalog you will find the most detailed information about the manufacturer, and you can also read the description and see the photos of the manufactured models.

"Small tank", "Lunokhod", "Jerboa" - what nicknames were given to the legendary Soviet off-road vehicle LuAZ-969 "Volyn".

Its incredible cross-country ability was recognized even outside the country, which is not so typical for cars originally from the USSR. On International Motor Show in Turin LuAZ-969M entered the top ten best SUVs Europe.

Evolving from a simple motorized cart for collecting the wounded on the battlefield to an indispensable all-terrain vehicle in rural conditions, this bizarre little jeep managed to find both loyal fans and those who hate it, but left few people indifferent.
LuAZ-969 is known for its absolutely unsurpassed cross-country ability and equally unsurpassed paucity of the cabin. And this is not surprising, because the original purpose of this car was one hundred percent military.

In the early 1950s, during the Korean War, the Lutsk Automobile Building Plant, commissioned by the Ministry of Defense, developed a leading edge transporter - TPK. It was a motorized cross-country trolley no more than half a meter in height, with four-wheel drive and a winch, which was supposed to be thrown from the plane with a parachute. But, perhaps, the main feature was its ability to move on water.

Soon, Soviet engineers realized that military equipment could be adapted to the needs of the village, and thus, a decade later, on the basis of TPK, Volyn was born - the first Soviet off-road vehicle.

The first civilian samples can be called a rural jeep without a stretch - we had to forget about moving on water, the driver and passengers were placed as in ordinary car, tarpaulin sidewalls were added to the canvas top. LuAZ-969V became the first production car with front axle drive.

The letter "B" in the title just denoted a front-wheel drive modification. The fact is that by the start of serial production, the model did not have time to be provided with a rear axle gearbox, which is why it went into production with front-wheel drive. This story continued until the early 1970s, when LuAZ finally acquired four-wheel drive.

The fact that off-road LuAZ can "beat" anyone - even a Niva, even a Hummer - is true. Engine, gearbox, final drive and cardan shaft are compactly located in a body with an integrated spar frame, and all units are virtually located in a single sealed housing. Independent torsion bar suspension the trailing arms at the front and rear have enormous travels and the 13-inch tires have very powerful lugs. This is, without exaggeration, "a small tank with a Zaporozhets engine."

Nevertheless, the car had enough problems. The engine from "Zaporozhets" at the same time gave advantages, being in front, and was a kind of scourge due to its low power. They tried to modernize the car first in 1975, when a 40 horsepower engine appeared on the Volyn (the model became known as LuAZ-969A), and then in 1979, when locks appeared on the doors (attention!), In the cabin there were seats from "Zhiguli", outside the body has become less angular. The 969M looks different.

In the early 90s - approximately when the engine from Zaporozhets was replaced by the engine from Tavria - LuAZ-969 became LuAZ-1302 due to the change of indices in the USSR. New engine already had liquid cooling, 4 cylinders and 53 horsepower... "Volyn" now consumed 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers (unlike the previous official 10) and developed maximum speed up to 100 kilometers per hour (before that it was 85). About a year after the launch of the new model, Ukraine seceded from the USSR and LuAZ's contacts with Russia ceased.

It is not entirely clear when exactly LuAZ-969 began to be called "Volynya", but this name lasted a long time, starting with the 1967 model and up to the early 1990s. True, among the people, this SUV received many more names, for example, "Fantomas" - for its comedic-villainous appearance, "BMW", which was deciphered as " Fighting machine Volyn "," Jerboa "- for the ability to" jump "over any area and many others.

During the 1990-2000s there were several attempts to "upgrade" the models, but nothing sensible came of it. In the mid-2000s, the Lutsk Automobile Building Plant finally stopped the production of cars, which put an end to the story with the brisk Soviet "jerboa".

Judging by the numerous photos on the network, "Jerboas" are still loved, cared for and cherished ...

As soon as the craftsmen do not alter the "Jerboa"! ..

LuAZ-969. The history of the creation of the Soviet SUV aslan wrote in July 31st, 2018

Almost simultaneously with the start of production of the Humpbacked ZAZ-965, the development of a new off-road design based on its ZAZ-969 units and assemblies began. The first prototypes were built at the end of 1964 and in the spring of 1965 they were sent for running road and climatic tests.

ZAZ-969 had four-wheel drive, while the front drive axle was constantly on, and the rear was turned on if necessary. Engine from ZAZ-965 with a capacity of 27hp. installed in the front of the car and is its further modernization

The number of cars produced is not known for certain, but the photographs of cars with different numbers suggest that at least two copies were made. Later, for the development of production, prototypes of the ZAZ-969 were transferred to the Lutsk Automobile Plant, where later, after some refinement, they began to be produced under the name LuAZ-969

The history of Lutsk jeeps begins with LUMZ-969V. It should be noted right away that the LuMZ-969V model, although it was a direct heir to the experienced ZAZ-969, nevertheless had a 4x2 wheel forum and a drive only to the front wheels, which was associated with a number of technological problems when the car was put into production

In 1965, prototypes of LuMZ-969V were manufactured, and in December 1966, a pilot batch of 50 vehicles was already produced. In fact, the LuMZ-969V was the first domestic front-wheel drive production car. In the same 1966, a small-scale production of LuMZ-969V (ZAZ-969V) with a four-cylinder MeMZ-969 engine with air cooled (power 30 hp, working volume - 887 cc)

Model "969B" was produced in small series until 1971, until the Lutsk Automobile Plant mastered the production of an all-wheel drive version, called LuAZ-969

Since 1971, the Lutsk Automobile Plant has been able to master the production of four-wheel drive vehicles. This car "returned" to itself the "clean" index "969", received by the ZAZ-969, of which he was the rightful heir

The main drive on the LuAZ-969 was still front. Drive on rear wheels was carried out using a rear axle gearbox rigidly connected to the power unit by means of a drive shaft, which was turned on in cases where the car needed to overcome a difficult section of the path. Like the LuMZ-969V, the LuAZ-969 used a MeMZ-969 four-cylinder air-cooled 30 hp engine.

LuAZ-969 was mass-produced until 1975, until the Lutsk Automobile Plant mastered the production of a more powerful modification - LuAZ-969A

In 1975, the serial production of modernized LuAZ-969A vehicles began with more powerful engine MeMZ-969A 40 hp LuAZ-969 and LuAZ-969A externally did not differ from each other.

LuAZ-969A was produced until 1979, when it was replaced by the modernized LuAZ-969M. In total, about 30.5 thousand models of this modification were produced.

The modernized LuAZ-969M, which replaced the LuAZ-969A on the conveyor in 1979, was equipped with a separate brake drive with a hydraulic vacuum amplifier on the front circuit. The exterior of the car has been somewhat modernized compared to its predecessor thanks to the change in the front panels, the shape of the windshield has also been changed

The car was produced only with a soft awning, which did not suit many consumers, therefore, from about 1989, with the beginning of the cooperative movement in the country, various manufacturers began to offer a collapsible plastic top for installation instead of the standard tarpaulin

Mortarelli LuAZ-969M actively promoted to the Italian market. Due to the fragility of the power unit for the Western European market, the car was already equipped by a dealer with a Ford engine. Although the car was expected in Europe, for a number of reasons, its export did not begin until 1983.

After the modernization of the LuAZ-969M carried out in 1990, a new index was assigned - LuAZ-1302. New model was equipped with a more powerful "Tavrichesky" engine MeMZ-245-20 with a capacity of 53 hp. and a working volume of 1100 cc with water cooling

Externally, LuAZ-969M and LuAZ-1302 are practically indistinguishable. LuAZ-1302 can be distinguished from its predecessor only by the radiator lining, which has been slightly changed - additional ventilation holes have appeared.

The LuAZ-1302 family became the last serial production of its own design in the history of the plant

In the early 80s of the twentieth century, the plant produced an experimental batch of all-metal vans LuAZ-969F with a carrying capacity of 400 kg based on the LuAZ-969M. Serially the car was not produced

LuAZ-2403 was developed on the basis of the LuAZ-969M vehicle and was intended for towing light aircraft and luggage carts

In 1991 small-scale production of a cargo modification of the "1302" model - LuAZ-13021 began. Prototypes were built both on the basis of the "969M" model, and on the basis of the modernized LuAZ-1302

The car was produced until 2002
