We count together. How many kilometers do you drive in a year? In Europe, the normal average annual mileage is 30-35 thousand kilometers. We have, say, less - 20-25 thousand, but for example we will take 20 thousand and the average consumption, say, 8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. But not everything is so simple: not every car with a small engine is really very economical, many small cars with an engine of 1.2-1.4 liters can consume fuel no less than golf-class sedans with an engine of 1.6 or more ...

The same 1.4-liter turbodiesel can be found under the hood of another Volkswagen model, the Polo. And here he also demonstrates the wonders of economy - 3.9 liters in suburban mode. But in our market, Polo with a 1.9 liter diesel engine is more common, which was installed on almost everything volkswagen models, and this is also a very economical engine - on the Polo, depending on the modification and power, it requires from 3.9 to 4.1 liters on the highway. By the way, the atmospheric version of SDI will be the most economical in the track mode. Petrol Polos cannot boast of such efficiency, even in the smallest versions.
By the way, did you notice that almost the entire review was occupied by small cars? But these cars are not suitable for everyone's lifestyle: family, children, business - what if you need a bigger car, but just as economical? This is Skoda Octavia. A roomy hatchback or station wagon was equipped with the same 1.9-liter diesel engine (or turbodiesel), which we have already talked about with the example of VW models. - To keep fuel consumption low, manufacturers often use a variety of additional systems, the consequence of which is increased efficiency. An example of such a technical solution is the start-stop system used on many vehicles. Its essence lies in the fact that in the absence of movement (when stopping at a traffic light or in a traffic jam), the engine is switched off electronically and switched on by it when the position of the pedals (clutch and gas) changes.
This approach can reduce fuel consumption by up to ten percent from usual, but the flip side of this will be an increase in the price of the vehicle, and cars, the rating of which will be at the bottom of the list, will be cheaper.
