The construction of the VAZ 2110 began back in 1983. The very first car in this class was supposed to be a rear-wheel drive sedan. However, the development never reached its finish line. In the future, all these developments will be poured into the VAZ 21099 model.

The release of the first "ten", in the form in which we observe it, the Togliatti plant AvtoVAZ planned for 1992. But the time was not calm for Russia, and her birthday was postponed to the summer of 1995. And on June 27, the first, and so beloved by a fairly large number of people, "ten" left the assembly line of AvtoVAZ (vaz2110). The release of this model was made for 12 years, until 2007. Then LADA PRIORA came to replace it. Now this car produced in the city of Cherkassy in Ukraine, and bears the name Bogdan.

Body types: VAZ 2110 (sedan), 2111 (station wagon), 2112 (hatchback). If we touch on all the modifications in terms of repair, then we will not find any special differences. The only difference is different types body and engine. The rest of the car is almost identical to each other.


The production of VAZ 2110 in Russia was suspended back in 2007, but this development of AvtoVAZ, to this day and in large numbers, can be observed on the roads of our country. This trend is entrenched due to the sufficient reliability of the car, its design, and low budget car prices.

Of course, there is no need to talk about luxury inside the cabin. But in comparison with the VAZ 21099 model, in the top ten, especially in the rear seats, there is much more space. At the first time of production, the car came with a carburetor power system, and after 2000 it was decided to install a distribution fuel injection (injector).

Appearance

At the time of the release, the VAZ 2110 had a modern look, but, at the same time, it became the subject of criticism and discussion. automotive experts... Many people think, looking at some of the elements, that the design of the car is unattractive. The most problematic area in terms of design is the rear wing.

The VAZ feed, when viewed in profile, seems too heavy. Although, if we compare it with the VAZ 21099, then the new model has noticeably increased aerodynamic performance. Starting to create the interior, the designers took into account some of the shortcomings of previous models and corrected them. Now the driver sits behind the wheel with outstretched legs, and not as before, with bent legs. The steering wheel itself has changed its appearance, it has become much more beautiful. It has two points of support for the arms with a pillow, and it no longer obscures the visibility of the instruments. The designers have applied soft plastic to the dashboard, which looks nice and pleasant to the touch.

Despite the still relatively small free space inside the car, updates to the front panel and other elements have a positive effect on the ergonomics of the cabin, which in turn prompted many consumers to buy the 2110.

The outer door handle is much better. The tongue from the well-known "eight" disappeared, and now the door began to open with the usual upward movement of the lever. Speaking of the doorway, it should be said that it has become quite comfortable in terms of width, but it is rather small in height. Not to say that it will interfere, but the lack of headroom is felt.

However, the door itself is no longer satisfactory, thanks in part to the sharp top corner. People of average height have no reason to be afraid, but those who are a little taller should be careful, as they can easily run into it.

In addition, the designers have limited the opening angle of the door, which has only one intermediate fixed position. I was pleased that the threshold, which in 2108 in bad weather was always covered with a layer of mud, now, thanks to the design features, always remains clean.

This moment is very important, since when getting into the car, you can easily get your clothes dirty by touching the edges of the threshold. The driver is presented with another dashboard, which no longer has the "oak" molded plastic - now the panel is made of soft elements reminiscent of the materials used in the VAZ "classic".

Almost everywhere it became a little cozier thanks to the new upholstery of the chairs, the fleecy ceiling. Only the door upholstery remained molded, however, and it in turn became better.

Among the pleasant little things - adjustment of seat belts in height and door locking with a central lock. The driver's seat has become more comfortable. The pillow, together with the back, were increased in width and began to better distribute the load.

It is no longer possible to find that cushion annoying for drivers in the lumbar region that was on the "eights". Of course, as there was no lateral support before, there is no side support now. The chair is still regulated in only two positions, and the adjustments are still mechanical.

The VAZ 2110 gearbox lever was lengthened, which is possibly due to the desire to reduce the effort during gear shifting. The most important sensors - the speedometer and tachometer - now occupied the necessary space in the central part of the dashboard, and the direction indicators began to be placed on the sides. The center console has acquired indicators of the on-board control system.

The first VAZ-2110s were equipped with a carburetor, but specifically for this model, "automatic suction" without using the suction lever, which is present in conventional types of carburetor.

The VAZ 2110 engine had a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 69 liters. sec., which contributed to the economical consumption of fuel - approximately 7.5 liters per 100 km. A little later, a 1.5-liter 16-valve injection engine, developing 94 horses, debuted. It had a DOHC type gas distribution mechanism.

Such a motor gained a speed mark of 100 km / h in 12.5 seconds, and maximum speed already reached 185 kilometers per hour. The technical equipment of the Lada-2110, which had a sixteen-valve engine, looked pretty decent, compared to inexpensive foreign cars those years. The last update of the engine took place in 2004 - then the volume was increased by 100 cubic cm.

The dynamic component of the 69-horsepower power unit is unlikely to impress even the driver of 2106, however, the reduced fuel consumption by 12 percent, compared to the 99th, often lured buyers. The maximum speed with such an engine is about 162 kilometers per hour.

Also, after a while, an injection 8-valve power unit 21102 was produced, the power of which was already 78 horses. The first hundred was reached in 14 seconds, and the maximum speed was 170 kilometers per hour.

Despite the more modest power in terms of the technical component, when compared to 1.5-liter engines, the new engines were sold with more increased torque. More importantly, the 1.6 16v valves did not bend when the timing belt broke, as was often the case with 1.5 16v powertrains.

Security

The Russian car VAZ-2110 was also crash tested. The result of the checks carried out in Togliatti turned out to be quite good, when compared with the Volga, which out of the available 16 points, was able to get only a meager 2.

After a frontal impact, the driver's front door was in place, and there was not even a single fold on it, but the pillar windshield only slightly bent over. However, the front door did not open due to the fact that it supported the back one. This is not a hopeless option, as it is possible to leave the car using the right door.

But what happens to the mannequins? The sensors that were installed on them did not show any overloads hazardous to life! Despite the fact that the driver bumped roughly on the steering wheel and on the dashboard, and the passenger sitting next to him on the front panel, the head injury indicator does not exceed the safe limit of 650 units.

This makes it possible to conclude that the probability of getting a head injury in people who are wearing seat belts is less than 5%. The important advantages of the sedan were confirmed - the strong power structure of the cabin. The conclusion is the following - before soft-boiled, and the salon is whole. This was achieved thanks to the safety bars that were welded into the front doors. The material of the beams is not light slats, but steel pipes.

The seat sleds were also able to withstand the collision, again not by themselves, but thanks to the modernized profiles of the retainer teeth. A small load in the collision of the dummy's head on the steering wheel was achieved by the fact that the VAZ workers made it injury-free.

The corners of the visor have been rounded and the front panel is made of soft plastic. But there were obvious large overloads on the chest from the seat belts, so the calibrated spring was compressed by 0.40 cm, and in the chest of the passenger sitting next to it by 0.45 cm.

This is partly due to the lack of an airbag to mitigate the effect of abrupt and rough stopping of the vehicle. So, the load exceeds 800 kg.

On the 10-ke, the steering wheel was shifted slightly back and up (0.95 and 0.45 cm, respectively). Moreover, the steering wheel moved to the right by 1.10 cm, which is already exceeding the qualifying limit of the lateral movement of EuroCAP.

As for the legs, there is a great danger of damaging them. For example, the right leg is hit by 730 kilograms. Even the pedals exceeded the permissible threshold - they went back 205 mm, and according to European standards, pedal displacement of more than 200 mm is already a critical indicator.

According to the results of calculations and summing up the results, the VAZ-2110 scored 4 points, which is twice as high as that of Svyatogor. If we talk about what the top ten lacks, then these are modern seat belts, airbags, body modifications, changes to the lower part of the front panel and other pedals.

  • VAZ-21108 - "Premier" - version of the Russian sedan, which has been slightly lengthened;
  • VAZ-21103;
  • VAZ-21109 - "Consul" is a four-seater limousine with an engine capacity of 1.5 liters. In length it reaches 5 meters;
  • VAZ-2110-91 - "Rotor-Sport". The start of production was started in 1996 and ended in 2004. A 1.3-liter rotary piston power unit was used. Such a car is the fastest among its "family". The top speed reaches 240 km / h. Reaches the first hundred in just 6 seconds. The car is tuned for circuit racing.

Options and prices

Today the 2110 is no longer in production. Aftermarket prices range from $ 3,000 (carburetor version) to $ 5,000 with injector and more decent look. The plant provided for three modifications: standard, norm and luxury. The last one was equipped with 14-inch wheels, a board computer, heated front seats, a spoiler and foglights. In the standard configuration, the Lada 110 was almost empty.

However, after 2005, the standard modification improved slightly - now they installed electronic system motor control, and board computer. Moreover, for an additional fee, the car was equipped with a power steering wheel and electric windows.

It was possible to customize the steering column. There were also ventilated brake discs, immobilizer and air conditioning. In the production of body elements, only metal was used, which was galvanized.

The car from Togliatti was able to surpass other models many times. For those drivers who love speed, we have developed a top ten of the sports class, however, it already goes in a different price category.

It is clear that the VAZ salon is inferior in comfort to many foreign cars, but it does not look ascetic. Everything looks harmonious and there is ergonomics, which can be increased if necessary. The seats are quite comfortable and have head restraints. The movement of the car has become softer and more stable. Cast wheels were added.

The first work on the VAZ-2110 car began back in the 80s - the layout appeared in 1983, and the prototype was created in 1984! But then the development was postponed for the sake of a more realistic development of the Samara project. And although work on the car, which could become the flagship of the VAZ model range and the ancestor of a new generation of front-wheel drive cars, continued, only in 1992 the first prototype appeared.

Economic circumstances prevented its introduction into production. Serial production began in 1996. The car that opened the Lada 110 family favorably differed from others domestic cars of this class modern design and the interior, spacious salon and improved performance.

With the appearance of the “dozen”, buyers of Russian cars for the first time had the opportunity to take advantage of the following technical innovations: an adjustable steering column, an immobilizer, on-board computer... Unlike previous models, the VAZ-2110 has new original developments: the use of galvanized metal for body parts that are most exposed to corrosion, bonnet fastening on gas stops, a gasoline vapor recovery system, ventilated brake discs and a number of other innovations. It was possible to install an air conditioner, which is serially equipped with some cars. In the "norm" configuration, the car received electric windows, body painting with metallic enamels, velor upholstery of seats and doors, head restraints on back seat... In the "luxury" configuration, cars are additionally equipped with cast wheel rims dimensions of 14 inches, on-board computer, front seat heating system, outside rear-view mirrors with electric drive and heating, fog lights.

The “top ten” was initially equipped with carburetor 1.5-liter 69-horsepower VAZ-21083 engines, which, together with a high degree of unification in a number of components and assemblies with already produced cars, somewhat simplified operation and maintenance for the owners. The base became its own VAZ-21100 engine (73 hp), an 8-valve carburetor with a working volume of 1.5 liters. The model with an 8-valve 79-horsepower engine with a volume of 1.5 liters with distributed fuel injection has the VAZ 21102 index. This engine provides sufficient performance in terms of power and torque, with moderate fuel consumption. The maximum speed of the car reaches 170 km / h, and acceleration to "hundreds" takes 14 seconds. For more active drivers, a 16-valve version of a 1.5-liter 94 hp petrol engine with a twin-shaft cylinder head was developed, providing increased thrust-to-weight ratio. A car equipped with such a motor has an index VAZ 21103, the maximum speed is already 185 km / h, and acceleration to "hundreds" takes only 12.5 seconds. The car was also equipped with 1.6 and 2 liter engines (sports modification 21106) with a capacity of 81-89 and 150 hp.

Front suspension - independent with telescopic hydraulic shock absorber struts. Rear - semi-independent, spring, with a twisting beam. The design largely repeats the predecessor "nine", but compared to the sedan 21099, the "ten" were significantly improved performance characteristics, including fuel consumption, mainly due to a decrease in the drag coefficient. The roomy luggage compartment (480 liters) with ample transformation possibilities has also become a significant step forward: a hatch in the rear seat and a trunk lid that extends to the bumper make it possible to transport long loads.

The security of the Top 10 has also significantly improved in comparison with its predecessors. The first version of the car on which the tests were to be carried out appeared in 1985. The company was planning to release this model in series production in 1992, but the economic crisis prevented, as a result, the first cars appeared on June 27, 1995.
