Auto is shit. spanish assembly, leather interior- all complete nonsense. The cost is 640 thousand rubles. For such grandmas it was possible to take a Mazda. It stalls at low speeds, stalls when depressing the clutch at speed, almost flew into the fence at the CADE. Sold - a fairy tale, almost ...

It became very popular in its class wherever it was sold. Therefore, the company decided not to wait until it became obsolete completely - and in 2004 the successor to the Ford Focus II was introduced. He "lived" on the conveyors also for 6 years.

This is a typical representative of the “golf segment”, which in Europe is usually referred to as class C.

The car rolled off assembly lines at factories located in Germany (Saarlouis), Spain (Almussafes), China and Taiwan. In our country, Ford has its own enterprise - in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region), so there was no need to import this model. Exceptions are the ST version, supplied from Germany, as well as coupe-cabriolets (they were made by Pininfarina in Italy).

Body

The paint quality is very high, the Focus body is fully galvanized. But after two or three years, in our not the most sparing conditions, the chrome trim on the trunk lid rusts - this problem was observed even on previous generation Focuses, but Ford could not cope with it.

In addition, the wiring leading to the license plate light often rots.

Another common "sore" is a touch lock. back door. It stops opening due to moisture. Therefore, it is necessary from time to time to lubricate the “wrong side” of the Ford emblem, or even replace the flimsy plastic mechanism with a much more reliable one, from Mondeo - it is made of metal.

Appearance of the second Focus

Designer's find. They managed to simultaneously maintain the continuity of generations (that is, it is absolutely clear that this is the Focus, even if you close the emblem with your hand) and make the car more calm, “intelligent”.

Body types:

  • hatchback with three or five doors;
  • four-door sedan;
  • station wagon;
  • convertible with a folding hardtop (modification SS).

The most popular in our country were sedans. Hatchbacks were bought less, of which most are practical five-doors. Station wagons are in last place, not least because of the higher price.

Interior

The salon has also become “more mature” - it no longer has those sweeping lines that its predecessor had. But it cannot be called boring either thanks to touches like oval vents of the ventilation system. Everything is well made and looks good. The controls are clearly at hand. In expensive versions, the panel has a “dark wood” or “metal” overlay, while the most modest ones have just black plastic.

Installed a new radio on CD-ROMs with many control buttons. They changed the air conditioner and stove block with two monitors and a lot of buttons. The tunnel will please with two cup holders and a cigarette lighter.

Engines

  • at the bottom of the hierarchy gasoline unit with a volume of 1.4 liters and a power of 80 hp. He is reliable but weak. Therefore, many drivers often “turn” it “to the fullest”, due to which the resource is reduced;
  • The 1600 cc engine (100 hp) made in South Africa is the most popular. Inexpensive, good for low-quality fuel. The dynamics are also modest, especially with the "automatic". It has a 115-horsepower version, which is equipped with variable valve timing at the intake and exhaust - it is noticeably more powerful and better "friendly" with an automatic transmission;
  • The 1.8-liter engine has a power of 125 hp;
  • "senior" in the Ford Focus 2 range (except for "charged versions of ST and RS) - a two-liter engine with 145 forces;
  • the only turbodiesel (1.8 liters, 115 hp) was available in our country, and not only in Western European markets. But dealers did not keep such cars in warehouses, but brought them only on order.

In general, engines (both gasoline and diesel) are very durable. Their resource (with proper repair and maintenance) is 300-350 thousand kilometers.

Transmission

The base for all modifications is a five-speed "mechanics". As an alternative, an elderly (but well-deserved) 4-band “automatic” of a classic design (with a torque converter) was offered.

Running Focus

The second-generation American is built on the C1 "cart". It was also used for cars such as / and the Ford Focus C-Max compact MPV.

Front (like its predecessor) McPherson struts are installed. Behind - expensive in the production of "multi-link". Its use is due to the desire to provide a decent level of controllability, even on cars with "younger" engines.

Some faults

The problem with a 115-horsepower 1.6-liter engine is the phase shifter clutch. There are two of them, and each costs more than 15 thousand rubles.

For 1800 cc and two-liter engines, after a hundred thousand, the gasket should be replaced valve cover at a price of a thousand rubles - oil can ooze through it. The upper engine mount for 3.5 thousand rubles also rarely “walks” longer.

Turbodiesel is very sensitive to fuel quality - then fuel pump and injectors travel 200 thousand kilometers. Oil needs to be changed every 5-10 thousand, at least.

On the mechanical box IB5 fifth gear can fly out (it's a matter of weak synchronizers). High loads threaten to burst the axis of the satellites in the differential second Ford focus. This, in turn, turns into a broken crankcase and repairs at a cost of one hundred thousand rubles and even, sometimes, more. Another "mechanics" - MTX75 - is much more reliable. Except that release bearing needs to be changed after 50 thousand kilometers.

In the front suspension, already at 40-70 thousand, thrust and wheel bearings are “suitable”, as well as stabilizer struts. The resource of ball bearings and shock absorbers is only 40 thousand. At the rear, the stabilizer struts are the least reliable (40,000 kilometers). The lower levers are enough for a hundred thousand.

The electro-hydraulic power steering on versions with 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines can “please” with a burnt control board. The part costs 30 thousand rubles. And the rail on cars until 2008 was often changed under warranty.

Secondary market price

The minimum amount of Ford Focus that will have to be paid for the “second” Focus is 150 thousand rubles. These are cars of the first years of production and there is often no living place on them. There are dents everywhere, cracks, scratches, traces of a terrible body repair. Corrosion is also present in a considerable amount. Not to mention the fact that immediately after the purchase you will have to invest in the repair of the Focus suspension, steering and other components.

As an option - the condition may be not bad, but there are problems with the documents.

Moreover, at the bottom of the market there are cars with any type of body (including station wagons) and in any configuration, including the top Ghia.

Prices for "restyled" Focuses start from 350 thousand. The year of issue, respectively, will be no earlier than 2008.

The maximum for this model (if you do not rush to extremes) - 580-600 thousand rubles. This is 2011 (the last for this model), in perfect (according to the owners) condition, with seat covers, a second set of tires, etc. Under the hood will most likely be a two-liter engine, paired with an "automatic". You can count on expensive equipment (even with a leather interior).

We have very few coupe-cabriolets, but there is still a chance to find one - for about 550 thousand, with good equipment.

Outcome

The second generation Ford Focus is a reliable and durable car. Many nodes in it are far from a new design, therefore they have long been deprived of childhood diseases. There are no problems with spare parts, including high-quality "non-original". And the main enemy is water-salt "porridge".

Video about the new Focus

Ford Focus 2.0 engine installed on the Focus of all three generations. True, the design of these power units is different. Naturally, the device and characteristics of the Focus 2 liter engines are different. The first Focus had a Zetec-E 2.0 series engine under the hood, on the second and third generations of the car, a motor from the Duratec-HE 2.0 and Duratec-HE Ti-VCT series, respectively, was installed. Today we will talk about all the power units in more detail.

So, on the Focus of the first generation, they installed Zetec-E 2.0 with 16 valves. This is a typical DOHC with a timing belt. Cast iron cylinder block. There are no automatic hydraulic tappets or hydraulic compensators in the valve mechanism, so the valve clearance must be adjusted manually. Engine specifications below.

Ford Focus 1 Zetec-E 2.0 engine

  • Working volume - 1989 cm3
  • Cylinder diameter - 84.8 mm
  • Piston stroke - 88 mm
  • HP power – 130 at 5500 rpm
  • Torque - 178 Nm at 4500 rpm
  • Timing Drive - Belt (DOHC)
  • Compression ratio - 10
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 11.7 liters
  • Fuel consumption in combined cycle– 8.7 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 6.9 liters

On the second Ford Focus, the Duratec-HE 2.0 engine appeared. The cylinder block of the 2-liter engine is cast from an aluminum alloy, the cylinder head is also aluminum, like the pan. In-line four-stroke, 4-cylinder 16-valve gasoline unit has electronic system fuel injection control. feature this motor is the presence of a chain in the timing drive.

There are no hydraulic lifters in the valve mechanism of the Focus 2 engine with a volume of 2.0 liters, so the adjustment thermal gap must be done manually. Between the camshaft cams and the valves are cylindrical pushers, the so-called “glasses” of the valves. It is the selection of pushers with different thicknesses of the bottom of the glass that the desired gap is selected. This is a rather laborious job that requires removal camshafts. Motor specifications below.

Ford Focus 2 Duratek 2.0 engine

  • Working volume - 1999 cm3
  • Number of cylinders / valves - 4/16
  • Cylinder diameter - 87.5 mm
  • Stroke - 83.1 mm
  • HP power - 145 (107 kW) at 6000 rpm
  • Torque - 185 Nm at 4500 rpm
  • Timing Drive - Chain (DOHC)
  • Compression ratio - 10.8
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 9.8 liters
  • Combined fuel consumption - 7.1 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5.4 liters

Ford Focus III received the same 2 liter Duratec, but the unit received modern system timing changes, which added power and reduced fuel consumption. The chain in the timing drive remained. A photo of this power unit is below.

The characteristics of the 2-liter Focus engine of the 3rd generation are below.

Ford Focus 3 Duratek 2.0 engine

  • Working volume - 1999 cm3
  • Number of cylinders / valves - 4/16
  • Cylinder diameter - 87.5 mm
  • Stroke - 83.1 mm
  • HP power – 150 (110 kW) at 6000 rpm
  • Torque - 202 Nm at 4500 rpm
  • Timing Drive - Chain (DOHC)
  • Compression ratio - 11
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 9.6 liters
  • Combined fuel consumption - 6.7 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5 liters

The Duratec HE 2.0 of the second Focus differs from the third generation engine in the presence of a Ti-VCT system (variable valve timing system). In addition, there is a system direct injection GDI fuel. All this made the motor very efficient and reliable.

Salon is spacious. Kinks and bends are a thing of the past, but, to be honest, I don’t miss them at all. New interior albeit stricter, but clearly more functional. And more like a cockpit. Individuals will love it. The plastic is soft, the joints are even, the buttons are comfortable, you won’t find fault with the gaps.

A bit of history

Ford Focus second generation was born in 2004. Unlike the first Focus, the second was no longer a global car in the full sense: in the US, the Ford Focus 2 is a completely different model with its own design. Ford will return to unification only in 2011, when the third Focus debuts. Ford Focus 2 turned out to be noticeably larger than its predecessor and more conservative in appearance. Russian sales of the model began in 2005, and the restyled version reached our showrooms in 2008. Appearance updated car became much more interesting due to the expressive trapezium of the radiator grille and new optics of complex shape. In the cabin, even more soft plastic appeared and fashionable red lighting began to play.

Market offer

There are very, very many second "tricks" on the market: every day, hundreds of announcements about their sales are published on Russian Internet sites. Therefore, you should not rush into buying - look for a car that will suit you 100%. The most common body in our market is a sedan. With a slight delay five-door hatchback. There are noticeably fewer station wagons, and three-door hatches are a rarity.

Russians are known to be amateurs fast driving, and Ford Focus can show at least some dynamics only with a manual transmission. The most common versions are relatively inexpensive, but frisky configurations with 1.6 (115 hp) and 1.8 (125 hp) engines and manual transmission. Much less common are cars with an "automatic" and a 2.0-liter engine (145 hp) and a completely "boring" 1.6-liter engine, moreover, derated in this version from 115 to 100 hp. Well, quite exotic - the most dynamic "Tricks" with a 2.0-liter engine (about the same 145 hp) and mechanics, the most modest 1.4-liter (85 hp) models with manual transmission and diesel versions with a 1.8-liter engine (115 hp), again with mechanics.

Not everyone will decide to change chairs in a car. That is why their quality pleases especially. Here I would be happy to elevate them to the rank of dogma. And I would put it in all textbooks on orthopedics. Optimal distribution of loads with a minimum of adjustments: you get settled instantly and do not load your brain and hands by groping for numerous levers and buttons. Bravo!

Average prices

"Focus" of the second generation is getting cheaper quite smoothly. A noticeable difference (about 45,000 rubles on average) is only between cars of 2007 and 2008. Which, however, is not surprising: in 2008, the model went through a restyling, and more modern-looking models are expected to be valued higher on the market.

* The vast majority of those sold on secondary market auto mileage is twisted. On average, a Russian driver drives about 20,000 kilometers a year. Therefore, a mileage of 60,000 km for a three-year-old copy is quite real, but 90,000 for a six-year-old is already suspicious. Therefore, do not take the odometer data on cars older than three years too seriously. Pay attention to the technical condition.

Typical breakdowns and problems in operation

Ford Focus 2 as a whole, the car is very reliable and unpretentious in maintenance. Problematic cars, of course, are found, but only if the owners operated them in a hard mode: they constantly twisted the engine, conquered off-road and neglected regular maintenance. To save yourself from unnecessary headaches in the future, here are what you should pay attention to first of all:

Body

metal quality and paintwork- good, and the body is strong. The only weak point is the joints rear bumper with wings where chips often form. Even on a four-five-year-old specimen, corrosion should not be anywhere. If it is noticeable, then the element was clearly painted after an accident. It would be useful to remind you once again that the entire body, upon purchase, must be checked with a micrometer for the thickness of the paint in order to filter out broken specimens.

Engine

On engines 1.4 and 1.6, the gas distribution mechanism has a belt drive, and on 1.8 and 2.0 it has a chain drive. The belt lasts a long time, it should be changed no more than once every 150,000 kilometers (in no case should it be tightened, because if it breaks, you can get a replacement bent valves), and its condition is a good indicator of the true mileage, which, again, is very often twisted. The test procedure is very simple: from the end of the engine block, find a soft plastic casing that protects the belt from dirt. Bend it back and look: it’s easy to distinguish the old from the new. The timing chain on engines 1.8 and 2.0 is installed for the entire service life, however, after 150 thousand runs, it begins to gradually stretch. Ask the seller to start the car on a cold one and turn on the gas. There shouldn't be a "churring" sound or crackle when you let off the gas. If it is, the car is very "rolled", no matter what numbers are displayed on the odometer. Motors on the Focus also do not have a tendency to burn oil. And in general, they don’t cause any problems, if you don’t often “twist” them and change consumables in a timely manner. By the way, the original spark plugs here are platinum and have a very long service life - up to 120,000 kilometers. When inspecting a car, be sure to unscrew one candle and see: if it is not the original, then the mileage is clearly more than 120,000 km. But it's hardly worth buying a Focus with a small engine, especially if you want it to drive a little. You will not notice a difference in fuel consumption, moreover: on weak engines you have to work more actively with the gas pedal, which is why gasoline consumption will only increase, other things being equal.

Transmission

Focuses of the second generation were equipped with two types of 5-speed manual transmissions. For cars with engines 1.4 and 1.6 there was one modification, for 1.8 and 2.0 - another. First, for small engines, less reliable. When buying a car with power units it makes sense to check the box very carefully: listen to the rumble in motion with the radio and stove turned off, make sure that all gears are switched on clearly - synchronizers and bearings often fail here input shaft. As for cars with powerful "engines", their mechanical boxes are practically indestructible. You can break them, except by constantly operating the car in forced mode. "Automatic machines" on the Ford Focus 2 are also very reliable: time-tested American 4-speed gearboxes were installed on all versions. The oil in them is filled for the entire service life, and if the owner did not have the ambitions of a racer, then the automatic transmission will last a very long time.

Suspension

The running gear of the Ford Focus is very good. It is balanced both for swallowing bumps and for very active taxiing. Weakness- rear suspension arms, which are recommended to be changed every 60,000 - 70,000 kilometers. Many owners manage with half-measures and change only silent blocks, but on broken levers, the resource of "rubber bands" is greatly reduced and new ones will have to be installed already in 10-20 thousand. The remaining elements of the chassis are very durable. steering rack"walks" for a very long time: it is designed in such a way that it practically does not deform even with frequent overcoming of very bumpy roads.

Electrician

As such, there are no serious problems with the electrics on the "Focuses", unless the handicraftsmen had time to "work" with it. Carefully inspect the engine compartment for "collective farm" twists from electrical tape - they should not be. The factory connectors here are of very high quality: almost all are silver-plated and in some places even gold-plated.

Scheduled Maintenance

THAT Ford Focus takes place every 20,000 kilometers, although it will not be superfluous to change the oil in the middle of an interservice run. Brake fluid is changed every 2 years. The clutch lasts at least 100,000 kilometers. Antifreeze even changes every 10 years or after 240,000 kilometers.

The cost of maintenance at official dealers

The upkeep of the Ford Focus, when compared to its class competitors (especially the Japanese ones), is not expensive at all. The frequency of maintenance is two times less than that of Toyota! The cost of them, even if do u official dealers, is also very low. It is worth mentioning here, however, that Ford dealers do not directly quote prices for scheduled maintenance and issue information only on the cost of individual works, as well as the regulations for the replacement of consumables. Definitely, if you contact them with a specific car, the price will be higher: a scheduled check of the units will be added, as well as the consumables themselves.

They put on the Russian Focus II gasoline engines 1.4 l (80 hp), 1.6 l (100 and 115 hp), 1.8 l (125 hp) and 2.0 l (145 hp) . Dealers also sold versions with a 1.8-liter turbodiesel with 115 horsepower. As standard, with engines of 1.4 liters, 1.6 liters and 1.8 liters, a five-speed manual gearbox of the IB5 series was combined, and with a 2.0-liter engine, the same “five-speed”, but with the MTX75 index, capable of “digesting” a larger torque. For all gasoline engines, except for the 1.4-liter, a four-speed "automatic" was offered.

In 2008, Ford introduced the updated Focus, which many even called the third "Focus" - the car changed so radically. But it was a classic restyling. The car got different fenders, hood, bumpers, headlights, exterior mirrors, sidewalls - without moldings, but with more dynamic stiffeners. And the most noticeable innovation is the radiator grille in the form of a huge inverted trapezoid. For all versions, except for the sedan, rear led lights. There was another luxury equipment Titanium. In the cabin, the climate control unit was updated and dashboard. Finishing materials have become even better. But in technical terms Focus has not changed. It is the restyled versions that are preferable for purchase - most of the congenital sores in such "Tricks" had already been cured by this time.

Modifications Ford Focus II

Body

As a rule, the examination of a vending copy begins with the body. We are still met by clothes. And if Focus didn't inspire you with its appearance, do not rush to refuse. Burnt paint, sandblasted sills at the bottom and darkened decor details on cars with high mileage- these are rather signs of natural aging, rather than barbaric exploitation. Particular attention is paid to the chrome lining on the trunk lid: corrosion in the place of its contact with the body appears after two or three Russian winters. It costs about 5000 rubles. At the same time, check the license plate light - its wiring quickly corrodes. And in more hatchbacks and sedans suffer from this. Repair - 1500 rubles.

In winter, due to moisture, the touch buttons of the trunk lock often freeze. In addition, the “Focus” has retained its signature sore since the first generation - a sour lock for opening the hood. In order for it to open easily, it is necessary to lubricate the inner surface of the emblem covering the lock cylinder. Better yet, change the regular plastic lock (3000 rubles) for a metal one from Mondeo. Often breaks down central locking, because of which not only the doors are blocked, but also the gas tank hatch. Therefore, an attempt to refuel with a failed central lock may turn out to be unsuccessful.

Salon

The interior of the "Focuses" is assembled neatly and conscientiously. Even with age, squeaks and crickets, he does not annoy. And the fabric upholstery lends itself well to dry cleaning and is wear resistant. True, it happens that salon equipment and electrics mope. There were complaints about the failure of seat heating. Moreover, for the original "heater" you will have to pay about 10,000 rubles. There are known cases of climate control whims due to the failure of the cabin temperature sensor (2500 rubles). Therefore, checking the performance of the air conditioner before buying a used Focus is desirable. Also drive the “stove” in various fan modes - the “whistling” of the motor will indicate its imminent death. The new electric motor will empty the pocket for 7500 rubles. True, often a burned-out resistor (900 rubles) can also become the culprit for the sudden “death” of a fan. Often the dipped beam and dimensions bulbs burn out, to replace which you have to remove the headlight. And in winter, you need to be ready to replace the failed elements of the side mirrors. The new amalgam is estimated at 2,000 rubles.

Engine

The mechanics praise the basic 1.4-liter engine - it has practically no congenital sores. The main thing is not to forget on time, every 80 thousand kilometers, to update the timing belt (timing). True, due to its modest volume and power, it is usually “turned” to its fullest and it works for wear and tear, falling into second hands already at the limit of its resource.

The 1.6-liter engine (100 hp), which was installed on the first Focus, rightfully bears the title of the most massive and reliable. It accounts for more than a third of all Focuses on the market today. The motor of the South African assembly is intended for operation in the countries of the third world. His simple design determines excellent maintainability and low cost of operation. But this unit is also considered by many to be rather weak for modern car. Especially when paired with an "automatic".

Whether it's his 115-horsepower counterpart, equipped with a variable valve timing system on the intake and exhaust shafts. The engine thrust is already quite enough in all modes, and it gets along much better with the “automatic”, and in terms of economy it is not inferior to the 100-horsepower version. Only now, this modern motor quickly “ends” the phase shifter clutch (11,500 rubles). True, on modernized machines, the unit has become more durable.

Modifications with “fours” with a volume of 1.8 and 2.0 liters are second only to versions with a 1.6 liter engine (100 hp). Both engines are identical in design and suffer from common ailments. The resource of motors is 350 thousand km. And in the timing drive - a durable chain, which is usually replaced after 200 thousand km. But in order for the motors to live safely to old age, after the first “hundred” you should pay attention to the valve cover gasket (1,000 rubles), which begins to poison the oil. However, at first, you can limit yourself to tightening the bolts that are weakening due to vibrations. And then just a replacement. By this time, as a rule, the upper hydraulic support of the engine wears out (3500 rubles).

Causeless blues of a 1.8-liter engine (on a 2.0-liter it appears less often) - bad traction and cold start, torn idling And increased consumption fuel - was associated with unfinished software electronic block engine control. Therefore, dealers changed its firmware depending on the malfunction, although these measures were extremely reluctant. Ignition coils and high-voltage wires, gasoline pumps are also short-lived. The block gets dirty pretty quickly. throttle valve and an exhaust gas recirculation valve. Converters (34,000 rubles) do not differ in “mileage”, the life expectancy of which depends on the oil consumption of the engine. If the appetite of the motor increases to 200 grams per 1000 km, you need to sound the alarm and contact the service. Otherwise, costly repairs are guaranteed.

It is advisable to change the oil in a 1.8 liter turbodiesel after 5–10 thousand km, and refuel only at trusted network gas stations. And then the fuel pump high pressure(TNVD) will overcome the bar of 200 thousand km. Repair - from 30,000 rubles. You will have to spend money on new injection nozzles (12,500 rubles each), flush the exhaust gas recirculation valve. After 100 thousand km, the dual-mass flywheel wears out. A similar problem, by the way, also occurs on a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. If you feel jerks when starting off and a characteristic rattling, change immediately. The part is expensive - from 25,000 rubles, but the consequences of the destruction caused by the flywheel will be even more tangible.

Transmission

On an IB5 manual gearbox, after 50–80 thousand km, “departures” of the second gear are known due to weak synchronizers. And when working with an increased load, the axis of the satellites in the differential may burst, which threatens a hole in the crankcase and repairs for 100,000 rubles. If, when making a test drive, the box “howls like a beast”, then the input shaft bearing is worn out. And it urgently needs to be changed. Otherwise, the consequences can be devastating.

But the “mechanics” of the MTX75 are more durable. True, over time, oil seals and seals of the gearshift rod leak in it, and due to low level transmission oil, shafts and gear rims wear out quickly. The clutch can last 100 thousand km or more, if it were not for the weak release bearing, made in a single block with the clutch slave cylinder, which wears out after 50 thousand km.

But the "automatic" is as simple as five cents and reliable as a tank. Box 4F27E was placed on various models Ford still in the late 1980s, so today it is almost completely devoid of childhood diseases. After 150 thousand km, it will only be necessary to repair the valve body (22,000 rubles) and replace the pressure regulator solenoids.

Suspension

With driving properties, the Focus II is all in in perfect order thanks to the jeweler-tuned independent suspension. Its main elements are centenarians. The idyll is broken thrust bearings racks, "nursing" an average of 40-70 thousand km. Approximately the same amount was released and wheel bearings, which change assembled with hubs. When replacing, do not forget about the ABS sensors - they are often damaged during dismantling. With light knocks in the suspension after 40,000 km, the stabilizer struts will make themselves felt. But the bushings withstand almost twice as long. Simultaneously with them, at 80-110 thousand km, the turn of updating ball bearings complete with a lever and silent blocks will come. And then shock absorbers are on the way (4200 rubles each).

IN rear suspension every 60–80 thousand km, the stabilizer struts are updated. Bushings last an average of one and a half times longer. By the “hundred” the lower levers wear out. Shock absorbers (3800 rubles each) are destined for a slightly longer period - they often reach 110-140 thousand km.

In steering, rod ends are enough for 50–80 thousand km. And the rail itself on the first machines even changed under warranty, but by 2008 it had become more durable. Moreover, versions with 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines were equipped with a traditional hydraulic booster, and more powerful modifications came with an electro-hydraulic power steering, in which the pump control board could “burn out”. Usually you have to change the entire assembly for 28,000 rubles.

Outcome

Finding a technically sound Ford Focus II will not be difficult. If you are not satisfied with modifications with reliable 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines (100 hp), you can find a Focus from Europe with an equally reliable 2.0-liter turbodiesel. True, we have few such versions. And it is better to opt for post-styling cars - they have already had childhood illnesses.

Ford Focus II (2004–2011): medical history

Second Ford generation Focus became a bestseller even before the start of its official sales. All promotion work Russian market a predecessor made for him, which was extremely in demand by our compatriots. And the appearance of the Ford Focus II marked a new, higher quality product - the car was distinguished by good-quality finishing materials, good driving properties and a reasonable price, which was provided by the Vsevolozhsk assembly. Under St. Petersburg, sedans were produced, as well as three- and five-door hatchbacks, and station wagons and hardtop coupe-cabriolets were brought from Europe.
