The first mechanism for soil cultivation, which was produced in Belarus, is the MTZ 05 walk-behind tractor. This device was used in order to facilitate the process of agricultural work, and this equipment coped with the task with sufficient quality. Initially, even a special trolley went to such a mechanism, which also performed some of the important functions.

Motoblocks MTZ 05 are able to demonstrate their work results in small areas, such as: a garden, a greenhouse, a backyard, a vegetable garden. The special properties of the design allow you to perform actions with the beds, since the size of the soil grip can be adjusted independently. And there are also other advantages of the unit. Let's consider in more detail the types and descriptions of technical features.

At the moment, this model of the device is discontinued. Accordingly, in the event of a breakdown, it will be difficult to pick up spare parts for the MTZ walk-behind tractor, you need to look for a high-quality alternative. A little later, they began to produce a similar version, but more optimized, called MTZ 09N. This device consumes less fuelthan the standard MTZ, it is also made of lightweight materials, which makes the walk-behind tractor lighter than its older counterpart.

Motor block MTZ 05

The engine for the MTZ 05 walk-behind tractor was built in a single-cylinder gasoline UD 15. It has the function of self-cooling, and also has a more convenient arrangement of valves in the upper part of the mechanism. The motor rotates at a speed of 3000 rpm in one minute. This unit is resistant to mechanical damage, unpretentious, and also it has a simple design.

Equipment that is suitable for MTZ walk-behind tractors

Modernization of the MTZ walk-behind tractor can be done independently, you can add equipment that will expand the range of functions performed:

  • hiller;
  • single-body plow;
  • mounted mower;
  • gripping cultivator;
  • a semi-trailer that can hold half a ton;
  • harrow.

All these attachments are combined to increase the number of functions performed. When choosing an additional part, rely on the tasks that the walk-behind tractor will perform. You can convert it into an ATV, a plow or a potato digger - you should choose the option that is necessary in a specific situation. This unit is an excellent working mechanism, and its revision can be done at any convenient time, all accessories are purchased separately.

Malfunctions of MTZ walk-behind tractors and DIY repair

Of course, in the process of use, a wide variety of breakdowns can occur, which are discussed in detail in the operating instructions. But today we will pay attention to only a few problems that are the most urgent.

Problem Decision
What if the full torque is not transmitted by the clutch? You need to adjust the free play, replace the pressure springs and check how mobile the discs are
What to do if the clutch is not responding? (does not turn off) Should also be adjusted free run, shorten the cable or replace it altogether
What if oil is leaking through the clutch control adapter? It is important to quickly and efficiently replace the ring
What if there is extra noise in the transmission? It is necessary to adjust the lateral clearance in the meshing of the final drive gears.
Pressure springs seriously weakened They need to be replaced
Slotted discs jam Check disc mobility and remove obstruction
O-ring and lip wear Replacing parts will be the solution
Self-loosening of the driven drum nut It is important to correctly tighten this very nut

Device

The MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor was developed almost 50 years ago. Since then, technology has leaped forward. Despite the fact that this Belarus is practical, sometimes you may want to replace the motor. In this case, no special problems should arise.

Engine

There are a large number of motors of various manufacturers and powers on the market. The most simple chinese motors, in terms of quality they are equivalent to Russian ones, but their price is lower. One of them - Lianlong. It is certified for compliance with all European quality standards and is of high quality.

But it is clearly inferior to the Japanese Lifan and Honda in terms of operating hours. The manufacturers of the Land of the Rising Sun are considered the best in this business.

Lianlong LL-160F engine Honda engine GX160 Engine Lifan 168 F-2

When choosing a motor, you should pay attention to the following characteristics:

As a result, it is necessary to find the ideal ratio in terms of price and quality.

Valves

With prolonged or heavy loads on the MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor, the valves shift. As a result, the amount of supplied fuel changes, and Belarus-05 starts to work incorrectly.

Normally, the valve clearance should be between 0.1 and 0.15 mm.

If the gap is increased, then a specific noise from the engine appears, and the required amount of fuel does not enter it.

Valve clearance adjustment

If there are doubts about this, then you should immediately check them. Using a thin blade, 0.1 to 0.15 mm thick, the position of the valves can be adjusted:

  1. Light the nut a little;
  2. Place a blade under it and return the nut to its original position;
  3. Turn the flywheel several times;
  4. The valve should work freely, but no clearance is allowed;
  5. If a gap appears or the flywheel does not rotate, re-adjust.

Carburetor

If the MTZ walk-behind tractor produces unstable engine speed, then the carburetor operation should be adjusted. It is recommended to carry out this work before the start of sowing work, when the equipment has been without operation for a long time.

Carburetor adjustment:

  1. Bolts that adjust the minimum and maximum amount screw in gas completely and then unscrew half a turn;
  2. Then move the control lever of the power plant to the minimum position, while the operation of the motor should not stop;
  3. The throttle control screw will help to adjust the idle speed so that the engine works correctly without extraneous noise;
  4. Using the screws, you should correctly set the amount of supplied fuel. If you twist it, then it decreases, if you weaken it, then the flow of fuel increases.

To check if the carburetor has been correctly set up on the MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor, let the engine run, and then remove the spark plug. If it is clean without impurities, then this indicates the correct setting.

Important! Always warm up the walk-behind tractor engine before starting the adjustment.

If carbon deposits appear on the candle, then the reason here may be both in the carburetor and in more serious breakdowns.

Clutch

An important element during engine stroke is the clutch. Therefore, you should know how to configure it correctly.

Two options for clutch failure:

  • With the lever fully depressed, the MTZ-05 tries to move. This means that he is being driven. In such a situation, tighten the adjusting screw slightly.
  • When the clutch is lowered, the walk-behind tractor slips, that is, it either does not produce the necessary power, or it does not work at all. In this case, tighten the adjusting screw slightly.

Checkpoint

The gearbox on the MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor has 6 steps: 4 for driving forward and 2 for moving back.

Below is the maximum speed in each forward gear:

  • Stage I - 2.15 km / h;
  • Stage II - 3.8 km / h;
  • III stage - 5.35 km / h;
  • IV stage - 9.6 km / h.

Maximum gearbox speed when driving in reverse:

  • Stage I - 2.5 km / h;
  • II stage - 4.46 km / h.

Gearbox repair

Gear

When the operation of the gearbox is accompanied by noise in the gearbox, this is a sign of a shortage or wrong choice of oil. If it is not there, then it is necessary to add it to the carburetor, there is, try to drain the old oil and fill in new oil in accordance with the recommendation of the instructions for use.

If the noise remains, then the gears are out of order. If they are not replaced in time, the consequences may be even worse. It is necessary to periodically check the gearbox performance and carry out preventive maintenance.

Electric starter

Electric starter

Many owners of MTZ-05 put an electric starter on it instead of the factory one. This makes the process of putting the engine into operation much easier. Since at subzero temperatures, it often refuses to start.

In order to replace the electric starter, you first need to install the battery, since without it the electric starter will not work.

Another important addition to MTZ is the headlight. It allows you to carry out work at dusk. AT standard configuration it's not there, but it works great with a battery.

User's manual

Now the MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor is not produced, but it is still widely used in agriculture. And the question regarding the operating instructions is acute, since it is almost impossible to find it in a paper version.

Basic rules of operation

  • If you have purchased a new MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor, which has not been in operation before, then be sure to run it in. It implies the work of Belarus in a sparing mode, so that the parts get used to each other and start working stably.
  • It is necessary to regularly monitor the condition of the walk-behind tractor parts: transmission, running connections, steering wheel. After carrying out the work, remove the remaining soil and other foreign objects. Protect MTZ-05 from atmospheric precipitation.
  • It is necessary to periodically lubricate all the systems of the walk-behind tractor with oil: crankcase, air filters, neck crankshaft, the axis of the magneto breaker lever. In winter, it is recommended to use oil M-8G 2 or M-8V 2, and in summer M-10G 2 or M-10V 2. The control levers should be lubricated with ordinary Litol-24 or Solidol greases. All oils must be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the relevant GOSTs, since in Soviet times there were uniform requirements for all.
  • After you have turned on Belarus, it is necessary to smoothly raise the starting pedal; it is not allowed to operate the engine with the pedal in the lower position.
  • You should switch to reverse and back only after Belarus-05 has been completely stopped. Otherwise, the gears will break.
  • When driving in reverse, you should firmly hold the control bar in your hands and make turns smoothly.
  • If you are not using the PTO shaft, then it should be turned off.
  • When aggregating attachments, the king pin must be securely installed before the check in the hitch. It is strictly forbidden to work with a loose king pin.

Video reviews

Finding a working MTZ-05 is now difficult, so it often has to be restored. These can be gearbox or clutch malfunctions, this is how the restoration process works.

Review of soil milling by Belarus-05

The Belarus 05 motoblock is the first motoblock of the Minsk Tractor Plant. The production of equipment started in 1978 and continued until 1992. Belarus 05 is a two-wheeled chassis with a reversible steering rod, a single-cylinder motor and a power train. The equipment has a wheeled configuration and belongs to the 0.1 traction class. The walk-behind tractor is positioned exclusively as an agricultural machine.

MTZ Belarus 05 has a rich history. In 1978, the Minsk Tractor Plant began producing various mini-equipment. The first models were positioned as a replacement for the classic mini tractors. They were built on the basis of a single-axle chassis. In some cases, the walk-behind tractor was articulated with a trolley, making it a full-fledged vehicle.

MTZ Belarus 05 allows you to perform a wide range of works:

  • plowing light soil;
  • hilling beets and potatoes;
  • transportation of goods;
  • harrowing;
  • mowing grass.

The model is used to work in small areas: gardens, vegetable gardens, backyard and school grounds.

The equipment is capable of towing a semi-trailer of significant weight (up to 500 kg). In this case, the walk-behind tractor is also suitable for performing stationary work. In this case, the drive is carried out from the PTO shaft.

Thanks to the variable track (425, 600 and 700 mm) Belarus 05 can handle various crops. The model has a very original design. The walk-behind tractor has no frame, and the skeleton is made of several transmission housings.

Belarus 05 works with a large number of attachments, since certain soil categories require a specific implement. The equipment is aggregated with the KR-70 cultivator, PL-1 plow, PKh-0.5 semi-trailer, KN-1 mower, KO-2 hiller and BN-50 harrow. For their articulation with the device there is a hinge unit.

The equipment has a differential with interwheel locking.

MTZ Belarus 05 for a long time remained the leader of its segment and gained enormous distribution in the domestic market. Nowadays, it is less and less common. It was replaced by the more advanced Belarus 09N walk-behind tractor. However, the technology has not lost its consumer properties even now.

Specifications

Overall parameters of the Belarus 05 walk-behind tractor:

  • length - 1800 mm;
  • width - 850 mm;
  • height - 1070 mm;
  • ground clearance - 300 mm;
  • the minimum turning radius is 1000 mm.

The size of the technique allows you to process various plants with minimal damage to them and overcome a small ford if necessary. The model weighs 135 kg.

Belarus 05 is equipped with a reliable transmission with 4 front and 2 reverse gears... It allows the walk-behind tractor to develop a transport speed of 9.6 km / h. The working speed of the model is 2.15 km / h.

The technique has an original steering column with a turn of 160 degrees or a deviation to the left or right by 15 degrees. This allows the processing of soil and backward do not follow the working body, but move to the side, which simplifies the work with the walk-behind tractor.

Fuel consumption

A fuel tank with a capacity of 5 liters is installed on Belarus 05. The average fuel consumption for this model is 340-360 g / kW.

Engine

The MTZ Belarus 05 model, unlike the latest brand products, is equipped with domestic engine brand "UD-15". This carburetor 4-stroke 1-cylinder unit with air cooled has quite simple construction and runs on gasoline. The main advantage of the motor is the availability of parts for its repair. In the event of a malfunction, it will not be difficult to acquire and replace the problematic element.

This unit was designed on the basis of the MEMZ-966 engine installed in the Zaporozhets, and its main disadvantage was a poor start.

The power plant itself is attached to the clutch housing. The engine is started by the kick-starter pedal located on the right side of the crankcase. A folding parking support with a spring is installed on the bottom of the engine, on the right is an exhaust pipe.

Characteristics of the power plant "UD-15":

  • working volume - 0.245 l;
  • rated power - 3.7 (5) kW (hp);
  • rotation frequency - 3000 rpm.

Some modifications of the walk-behind tractor were equipped with a 2-cylinder UD-25 engine with an overhead valve timing mechanism.

I want to tell you a story about the MTZ-05 walk-behind tractor and how it was used in our family. We bought it in 1989, brought it to order from Belarus, as at that time it could only be done by acquaintance. Why to order and "by pull"? - and you look what year. I was only 12 years old at the time. Complete with a walk-behind tractor, there were immediately a plow, a harrow, a cultivator, a segmental mower, a hiller and a cart, and also a very important device, a universal hitch. The walk-behind tractor itself was an engine combined through an adapter plate and a gear transmission (gearbox), which consisted of 6 steps - 4 front and two rear. A walk-behind tractor control rod was welded to the upper gearbox cover. The bar had all the controls necessary for the control, including the gear shift levers.
So let's take a closer look at the UD-15 engine - it was produced in Kazakhstan, Petropavlovsk. According to the description of many experts, the UD-15 is the same SK-12 engine, only in addition to everything it is equipped with a rated power speed regulator. That is, the UD-15 engine was supposed to work according to the idea at rated power, namely 3000 rpm. Mode idle move the UD-15 engine also had it, but at low gas the engine did not work very steadily even under low load, maybe of course it was a defect of my particular copy. Why the Minsk Tractor Works decided to use UD-15 and not SK-12 is also a mystery to me. In fact, the engine was not that important, which I later changed to Briggs & Stratton Vanguard TM OHV 7.5 hp. MODEL 138400. But that's a little later.
Now I will tell you point by point, oh attachments for the MTZ walk-behind tractor.
I'll start with the first and most unpleasant - coupling universal model SC-00. As the practice of its operation has shown, it has a not entirely correct design or a flaw. The fact is that in order to rearrange some implements to others, it takes a lot of effort to knock out the square tube of the coupling from the pipe of the attached implement, be it a plow or a cultivator. Why is this happening? It is very simple, it seems to me that with a strong fixation with a bolt and a nut of the tool and the universal coupling, the deformation of the square tube occurs. Further, the universal hitch rod is clamped, and without shamanism and careful knocking out, the weapon cannot be dismantled. The rest of the hitch proved to be quite reliable. It has a coarse-threaded adjustment knob, with which you can adjust the mounting angles of the attachments during operation.
Plow-digger model PL... Maybe my soils turned out to be heavy (like loam). But after a year of operation, the plow bent over the frame - it had to be strengthened by welding pieces of reinforcement onto it, after which the problem with reliability was solved. A knife was also installed on the plow, according to the instructions using this device, it was possible to plow the virgin soil. But in fact, it's a little different, the weight of the walk-behind tractor is too small.
Now the actual work with the plow - it gave me, if not pleasure, then satisfaction. The plowing depth that I managed to achieve when working with a plow on heavy loamy soils is 18-20 cm.At the same time, the neighbors working through the fence with Ray, Neva, plow noticeably higher by 14-17 cm smaller. Well, on a walk-behind tractor, 100 (Ray) and 140 ( MTZ) kg already there is a difference in tractive effort. In any case, if it is damp in the garden, it is better not to plow it, either with a Ray or with a heavier MTZ, you will suffer.
In fact, it is possible to torment yourself on fairly light soil, having adjusted the plow incorrectly or not at all. Initially, it is necessary to adjust the plow grip by setting the angle on the universal hitch and turning it in the vertical plane by loosening two bolts. In this case, it is necessary to achieve so that the plow makes a furrow, the left wheel during the second and subsequent passes went along its ridge (unplowed), and the right wheel, on the contrary, went along the bottom of the furrow, then the plow, as it were, buries the track from the right wheel. Further, the operator should not pull out or, on the contrary, deepen the plow; when "sticking" into the ground, it should go smoothly and easily. The angle of installation of the plow in the horizontal axis is adjusted again on the hitch, well, not like in the first case with two bolts, but with an adjusting knob. And the third very important adjustment, which users forget about and from it there are blisters - setting the correct height of the handles on the steering bar of the walk-behind tractor. A correctly adjusted plow can work all day long and not get tired, and if not adjusted, you can kill yourself in 5-10 minutes. Plowing performance MTZ-05, which I reached 4-5 acres per hour. I usually plow the soil in second gear, if in principle make a coarse lumpy surface of the earth (plowing in autumn), then slower in first gear. Plowing wheels are usually metal. Previously, on light soils, it also coped with rubber wheels, now, due to the replacement of the engine with Briggs & Stratton, the walk-behind tractor has lost 10-12 kg and already does not go easily during plowing.
Moreover, it is important to note that the plow is not reversible, so I plow either into a dump or into a collapse. Or if it is not possible to plow like this, I stalk gently back and make the next pass.
In addition to the plowing function, the manufacturer also recommends using the plow as a digger for various root crops. To be honest, I did not even dare to use this plow for such operations - I bought a separate digger.
A cultivator for a walk-behind tractor is quite simple, but it has shown itself well in the captivity of reliability, the only thing that needs to be checked is all the bolts. The cultivator easily loosens the soil by 8-12 cm.
Harrow KB-1.6 - to be honest, I have never used it. And why is there a cultivator - buy one for the future owners.
P-05 trailer - showing itself quite reliable. There is a drawer under the seat where I put all my tools. The trailer is equipped with mechanical brakes and a parking foot brake. He carried a lot of things and everything on it. To transport hay, we had to build up the sides, made it with my father from wooden boards and thick metal plates, it turned out as if it was made at a factory. In addition, the backrest was welded to the seat, it swayed very much.
