Design
Development external appearance on-DO was handled by Nissan's global design center, located in the Japanese town of Atsugi. Thanks to the efforts of specialists from the Land of the Rising Sun, this sedan turned out to be more interesting and attractive, in comparison with its "co-platform" Lada Granta. The car was equipped with different headlights, a different hood, a wide lower air intake, original alloy wheels, huge heated exterior mirrors and halogen fog optics (available for a surcharge), framed by a black mesh, like a radiator grill. The radiator grille is a large hexagonal, with a large branded emblem and chrome edging. All new elements are associated with the Datsun corporate philosophy, the basis of which is brightness, courage and love of life. 
The dynamic silhouette of the four-door is highlighted by expressive side lines. At the rear of the body, you can see streamlined lights, chrome inserts and a slightly raised edge of the lid luggage compartmentdesigned to mimic a spoiler. Signature badges on the radiator grille and boot lid reflect the new brand identity. Blue colour symbolizes honesty and reliability, and the blue bar with the Datsun name suggests that sincerity is the key to success. As for the 6-sided bezel, it bears witness to the rebirth of the stamp.
Design
Borrowed from Granta, the on-DO design looks like this: the front is an independent spring suspension, MacPherson strut, the rear is a semi-independent spring suspension. For the sake of improving the handling of the chassis, the Granta underwent certain modifications - for example, gas-filled shock absorbers were installed, the spring settings were changed and the ground clearance was increased - from 160 to 174 mm, and the clearance for models with manual transmission and automatic transmission is the same. To deliver the new Jatco automatic transmission, Nissan had to optimize braking system, however, the calibrated operation of the brakes and steering, which is desirable when driving on high speeds, it was still not possible to achieve it. At the same time, it turned out to get rid of squeaks in the front suspension by lubricating the silent blocks of the front stabilizer with silicone grease.
Adaptation to Russian conditions
On-DO is well prepared for operation in Russian conditions, especially after the modernization of 2016. From now on, the sedan can boast not only high ground clearance and automatic transmission, but also an improved climate system - the wall thickness of the interior heater radiator has increased, and a special carbon tape is applied to the air conditioner evaporator tubes to reduce the noise level. Relay Mini 30 ° A has been replaced by Micro 20 ° A, so there is no longer a characteristic click when the air conditioner is turned on. Also, the model has improved the algorithm for disabling the stabilization system, due to which now you do not need to hold down the button for 3 seconds - just one simple press is enough. The luggage compartment (530 liters) was provided with upholstery, like in foreign cars, and a new jack with a wide support platform, made in the shape of a diamond, was placed underground. We are talking about a standard lever-screw jack, which replaced the inconvenient VAZ one and can withstand 1100 kg.
Comfort
The on-DO salon is quite spacious, despite compact dimensions auto, and decorated in dark colors. The most colorful detail here is the Datsun logo on the three-spoke electric power steering wheel, which is adjustable in height only. Behind the wheel - a very unpretentious dashboard with two "wells" of the speedometer and tachometer and information display in the middle. But readable and understandable. On inside the driver's door - a control unit for power windows, central locking and power side mirrors, and on the center console there is a multimedia complex screen, over which simple ventilation deflectors hung. As a result of the 2016 modernization, together with the on-DO automatic transmission, I received seats with a better finish. The profile of the seats in the first row is comfortable, there is a heating function, and the adjustment range, unfortunately, is small, therefore long trips they don't have it. The on-DO budget sedan is the first model of the Datsun brand presented in Russia. Moreover, the car was specially designed for our market. World premiere took place in April 2014 in Moscow, the president presented the novelty and general manager autoalliance Renault-Nissan Carlos Ghosn.

The on-DO exterior design, due to the use of more modern optics, a different configuration of the wings, bumpers with bright aerodynamic chips and other details, turned out to be more solid and stylish. Unlike Grants, which became the first VAZ car with an automatic transmission, when creating Datsun, the developers returned to a five-speed mechanics, which is equipped with Schaeffler shift forks and cable drive Atsumitec. In all Datsuns, the rear seats are folded, and in a 60/40 ratio - starting with the Dream configuration. Just like in Lada, in Datsun, in order to fully fold the seats, you need to raise the pillow, remove the head restraints and move the front seats a little.
Datsun's trunk is the largest in the class, its volume is 530 liters, which is 10 liters more than that of Lada Granta, the previous leader in this indicator. The trunk walls of all Datsuns are covered with soundproofing material, a full-size "spare wheel" is hidden underground, a plastic opening handle has appeared in the trunk lid, and the lighting has become completely autonomous.
Datsunu's platform came from Grants, and this is a big plus. An impenetrable suspension, coupled with a ground clearance of 174 mm, just urge you to climb further and deeper. As they say: competitors are jealous. But it's true: of the competitors, the "tallest" Logan with not the "weakest" clearance of 155 mm is almost 2 cm lower than "our" Datsun - a good result.
On the track, Datsun behaves confidently, thanks to the regular pirelli tires - thanks to the Nissan engineers who insisted on using them. But the electronic stabilization system (ESC) deserves special attention. Naturally, it is not installed in the cheapest configuration, but nevertheless it is there.
The body of Datsun has a noise-insulating coating for the bottom, engine shield, hood cover and wheel arches, as well as plugs for technological holes available there. The durability of the use of Datsuns is facilitated by the galvanizing of the body: the bottom, sills, side members, wheel arches, hood and doors.
