By the way, the newly-minted class of cars still does not have a name.

The European pioneer was the Mercedes A-class. Its popularity is colossal, the factories are working, almost in an emergency mode, in order to produce the number of cars corresponding to the demand. In 1997, they began to produce, if not a competitor, then at least a like-minded person - Hyundai Atos. The next was a sample of the next generation Suzuki Wagon R +. General Motors launched it on the European market under the name Opel Agila. And quite recently, the Audi A2 entered the market, which we will talk about in our article.

In 1997, Audi showed the new AL2 concept. Two years later on Frankfurt Motor Show Audi showed the world its almost analogue - Audi A2. But then no one attached much importance to this car.
